CHAPTER TEN
The two time travelers along with the Chronicler of Time in the guise of Charles Xavier arrived at the center of what appeared to be a military base.
Deadpool glanced at the Chronicler of Time. "Really? Right smack in the middle of a military base?" He unsheathed his dual katana's. "Get ready for a fight, Cable."
The Chronicler of Time shook his head. "Now that you know my true identity I can now use some of my more subtle powers. In this case, the ability to time travel without being seen. We see them but they cannot see us."
"What's he talking about?" Cable asked Deadpool.
"Oh," Deadpool said. "Cable this is the Chronicler of Time. Almost forgot to mention that."
"Um, that's Charles Xavier." A confused Cable stated.
"No, that's the Chronicler of Time making himself look like Charles Xavier." Deadpool corrected. "He's been with us since we left 1992."
"Oh." Cable simply said.
Deadpool looked at the Temporal Dial. It read: October 7th, 1981. "So, we're now in the year 1981. What's so special about 1981?"
The Chronicler of Time explained, "We're at Alkali Lake and this is when William Stryker reacquainted himself with Wolverine. This is the explanation as to why Wolverine was here when Jean Grey and Scott Summers discovered him in his feral form in the year of 1983."
At that time, Logan walked into the room followed by William Stryker and a host of his soldiers.
"So," Wolverine began, "this is where I became what I am now?"
William Stryker nodded. "Yes, it is. You volunteered for the mission and then your entire skeleton was fused with the adamantium alloy. The procedure was a success but with a slight side effect. You developed amnesia. You woke up in a feral state with no idea of who or what you were. You slaughtered everybody in your sight and then escaped."
"He's lying, Wolverine!" Deadpool blurted. "Stryker caused the amnesia by putting an adamantium bullet in your brain!"
"Remember he can't hear you," the Chronicler of Time reminded. "They can't see us and we can't interfere with the process of correcting the timeline."
"I'm just going to make one tiny correction." Deadpool said as he approached Stryker with his unsheathed katanas. "This is for my father," he said as he slashed one of his katana's across Stryker's neck.
The blade went right through the neck and caused no harm to Stryker. He slashed again and again but all to no avail. He couldn't cause any damage to the man.
"Are you finished?" Cable asked.
Deadpool sighed and slashed at Stryker one last time. "I guess so."
The Chronicler of Time sighed. "We're essentially ghosts here to them or they are more of a holographic image to us, if you will. I felt it was safer to travel this way seeing how you are sometimes prone to exhibiting rash behavior."
Deadpool sheathed his katana's. "Says you."
"Says everybody," Cable interjected. "Now shut up and see what happens."
"So, what now?" Wolverine asked.
"Now we continue where we left off." Stryker said. "We have a means of restoring your memories. Once that is done, we continue our mission."
"Which was what, exactly?" Wolverine asked.
"Protecting humanity, of course." Stryker said. "The Mutant population has increased substantially and they have become dangerous. You volunteered to help bring them into line."
Wolverine thought a moment and then shook his head. "I've only known myself for two years now and that doesn't sound like something I'd sign up for. You're lying to me." He then extended his adamantium claws.
Stryker smiled maliciously. "You were always too clever for your own good, Logan."
"Good for you, Wolverine!" Deadpool shouted. "Slice that son of a bitch into a bunch of little pieces."
"You know that isn't how this plays out." The Chronicler of Time commented.
A sniper on a balcony above them aimed a rifle at Wolverine's head.
Wolverine smirked. "If you know me then you know a few bullets aren't gonna stop me from cutting your head off."
Stryker smirked back. "Regular bullets won't. Adamantium bullets however have a unique effect on you. That's what actually caused your amnesia, after all. I put a bullet in the back of your skull and you lost all of your memories."
Wolverine shouted in fury and charged at Stryker. The sniper shot an adamantium bullet right between his eyes before he could slash Stryker down. He fell backwards unconscious.
"Those dirty sons of britches!" Deadpool shouted.
Stryker announced to one of his soldiers. "Weapon X has finally come home to us. Place the mind simulator on his head before he regains consciousness. Then place him in his new cage. By the time we're through with him he will be the perfect fighting animal. No other mutant will be he his equal."
"STRYKER!"
They all turned to see a furious Victor Creed enter the room. His hands and long fingernails were covered in blood.
"Victor Creed." Stryker announced. "Welcome home."
"We have a score to settle." Creed said. "You think you're going to just take my little brother and brain wash him into being your perfect weapon? You forget. He and I are almost alike in everyway."
"Would you like to take his place?" Stryker asked.
"You had your chance, Stryker." Creed sneered. "Now I'm going to pull your heart out through your throat and get Jimmy the hell out of here!"
Just then, several soldiers armed with electric guns came out from behind Stryker and shot all of their electric charges into Creed's body. He yelled in pain and went down to his knees.
"This won't keep me down for long!" Creed said through gritted teeth.
"Just long enough." Stryker said.
Another soldier came up to the immobilized Creed and placed a metal helmet over his head. He then pressed a button and several volts of electricity shot through Creed's skull. He shouted in immense pain and then fell forward and was unconscious.
Stryker smirked. "Two valuable weapons acquired all in one day. We'll have his memory wiped and his new name will be...let's call him Sabretooth. Wolverine and Sabretooth will be a boon to those unsuspecting mutant bastards out their who think they have a place here in humanity's world."
"Ah," Deadpool said. "I see what happened their. That's how the Liev Shreiber looking Sabretooth became the Tyler Mane looking Sabretooth and why neither he nor Wolverine had any knowledge of each other when they faced off again in 2003. How bout that."
"Indeed," the Chronicler of Time announced. "I believe we're done with the year of 1981."
The Temporal Dial started going off and they soon disappeared from Alkali Lake circa 1981.
They emerged inside of Charles Xavier's office inside of his mansion. They observed that an older Charles Xavier was conversing with an older Hank McCoy who was wearing a fancy suit over his blue furred body. Deadpool looked at the Temporal Dial and it read: April 3rd, 2001.
"Are sure you have to leave us, Hank?" Xavier asked him.
Hank McCoy nodded. "My time with the X-Men has run its course, Charles. Scott has proven to be a valiant leader of the team and I feel like my efforts would be better served in Washington."
"I applaud your efforts for wanting to go into politics and speak on the behalf of mutants but do you think that the people will listen. Will they hear the words of Hank McCoy or will they only see you as the blue furred mutant X-Man known as Beast?"
McCoy was silent a moment before he spoke. "All I can do is try, Charles. Now that Senator Robert Kelly has proposed a Mutant Registration Act I have to try and show the people that not all mutant's are bad. As for my appearance, they'll just have to come to terms with that. The serum I created to keep control of my mutation has stopped working. This is who I am now. The people will just have to accept that."
Xavier smiled fondly at him. "I wish you the best of luck, Hank. We're all lucky to have you out there speaking on our behalf."
McCoy shook his hand. "Its been an honor being a part of the X-Men, Charles."
"Its been an honor having you with us, Hank." Xavier said. "I can't help but feel a little sad about you leaving though. Ever since Raven left to join Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants , you were the last of the First Class of X-Men."
"We all have to retire at some point, Charles." McCoy smirked. "Besides, I'm not the last of the First Class. You are."
Deadpool commented to the Chronicler of Time. "So, that explains in one conversation how Beast no longer could change back into his human form and how he ended up in Washington as the Secretary for Mutant Affairs." He then addressed the fanfiction readers. "That's just lazy writing."
"There is one other thing that needs to be fixed in this timeline." The Chronicler of Time commented.
A teenaged Jubilation Lee aka Jubilee passed by Xavier's office and waved. "Morning, Professor."
"Good morning, Jubilee." Xavier waved back.
The Chronicler of Time then waved his hand at her and she then completely disappeared.
Deadpool gasped and held his hand to his masked mouth. "Did you just erase Jubilee from existence!?"
The Chronicler of Time chuckled. "No, Wade Wilson. I just erased her from existing in two different eras, is all. She is back in the 1980's as her teenaged self."
Just then an older Jubilee who appeared to be in her thirties passed Xavier's office and waved. "Morning, Professor."
"Good morning, Jubilee." Xavier waved back.
Deadpool chuckled. "That's pretty nifty, Time Guy. Care to fix the Russian accent discrepancy with Colossus while you're at it?"
"That's already been corrected." The Chronicler of Time said. "In the original timeline Piotr Rasputin was born in Russia and raised in America whereas in the new timeline, Piotr Rasputin was born and raised in Russia and didn't come to America until Xavier recruited him in the year of 1999."
"Well that's simple enough." Deadpool said.
The Temporal Dial started going off again.
"Where to now?" Cable asked.
The Chronicler of Time smirked. "We're going to go see how Charles Xavier came back to life after being destroyed by The Phoenix."
"That was in the original timeline though." Deadpool said. "Can we do that?"
"I'm the Chronicler of Time, Wade Wilson. There is no timeline that I can't visit whether it be an old one or a new one."
"Cool," Deadpool said excitedly.
They then disappeared from 2001 and were heading toward their next destination.
They soon arrived at their next destination which happened to be in a hospital room in Scotland on an island called Muir Island. A woman who appeared to be in her thirties and wearing a lab coat was taking vitals from a comatose patient.
Deadpool glanced at the Temporal Dial on his wrist. It read: May 27th, 2006.
The patient on the bed was a bearded man who looked uncannily like an older Charles Xavier.
"Okay, timeout!" Deadpool said. "How the hell does the comatose man look like Xavier?"
The Chronicler of Time smirked. "Not many people know this but when Charles Xavier was born in 1942, he was born alongside an identical twin. Unfortunately the twin had been in a coma ever since birth and his parents didn't have the heart to pull the plug on him. Therefore when Charles Xavier's body was incinerated, he transferred his mind into the body of his comatose twin."
"You just made all that up!" Deadpool exclaimed.
The Chronicler of Time smirked. "Perhaps, but it's Canon fact now."
The comatose patient stirred and looked over at the lady in the lab coat. He weakly said. "Moira."
Her eyes widened as she exclaimed in her Scottish accent. "Charles."
"Timeout again!" Deadpool said. "Okay, so Moira Mactaggert was a CIA chick, so how did she end up here as a Geneticist doctor?"
The Chronicler of Time explained. "Shortly after the X-Men and her moved on from the Apocalypse incident, she resigned from the CIA and became a Geneticist in order to help mutants."
"Okay, simple enough." Deadpool said. "But how do you explain that she still looks like she's in her thirties and that she has a Scottish accent?"
"Good point," the Chronicler of Time said. "Thank you for pointing out these small details to me."
He then waved his hand and she appeared to age to about sixty years old or so right before their very eyes.
When she spoke again, it was with an American accent. "Charles, how are you alive?"
Xavier smiled fondly at her. "My body was destroyed but not my mind. I travelled through the Astral Plain until I located the comatose mind of my dear brother, George Xavier."
She smiled fondly at him and then kissed him. "It's good to have you back among the living, Charles."
Deadpool excitedly clapped his hands together. "We're definitely fixing shit now!"
The Temporal Dial went off again and they were soon transported to another time.
