Chapter 14: The Midnight Raid-2

An hour later the car reaches the raider's base. Nelson takes the car slowly over to the building and parks near it. Darkness parks the van right behind the car. "This is it people. We end this tonight.", Sparks says as he exits the car while looking at the raider's base. "Okay people strap up.", Nelson says as he leaves the car and heads over to its trunk. Dark exits the car with Pyro. "Dark, take this since you are good with snipers.", Nelson says handing a AWM to Dark. "Where did you get this?", Dark asks. "From the NSC. They left their stuff when they retreated.", Nelson says as he gives 2 boxes of .338 Caliber rounds to Dark. "So. I'll be your cover. Who will go with me?", Dark asks. "Mike and Darkness. The rest will storm in the place.", Sparks replies as they both leave the van with Autumn and Flareyhearts. "Darkness, here you go. You'll go with Dark.", Nelson says as he gives an HK416 to Darkness. "Mike. You'll go with Dark. Take this. You'll be the cover for our cover.", Nelson says as he gives 2 G-17s to Mike. "Oh. Take this too. These are the suits which the NSC used. They fit us well so hope it will be the same for you guys.", Pyro says as he opens the ammunition crate.

A few minutes pass by and everyone was ready with their moves, guns and armor. "Autumn, you'll come with us and will be our medic. Flareyhearts, you will control the drone from the van. You will also be the in charge of our comms. Oh, I almost forgot. Take this walkie-talkie with you, Dark.", Nelson says as he gives a walkie-talkie to Dark. "Well then. Let's do this. May god be with us.", Sparks says as he heads over to the building. The rest follows Sparks before splitting up into 2 teams as decided. "Testing. Dark do you copy? Over.", Sparks asks via the walkie-talkie. "Loud and clear. Over.", Dark replies. "Be ready in 15 seconds. Over.", Sparks says. Dark lies down on the floor and prepares his sniper. Darkness takes cover behind a concrete column and Mike stands behind Dark.

"Wait. I have a better idea. Flare. Activate the thermal vison on the drone and move it towards Dark's oversight.", Sparks says. "What are you doing Sparks?", Dark asks as the drone comes closer. "I smell food and I don't see any gas pipelines so its a small propane tank. Shoot it. That will be our signal to blow the doors up with C4.", Sparks replies. "Hold up. Blow the doors open? I never saw any C4 in the crate.", Dark says. "I brought it Dark. I had to visit Nelson's place for them. That's why I was late and not because I had to pick up others.", Darkness says. "Well then. I'll take the shot. We'll discuss this later. Flare mark it.", Dark says. The drone uses a laser to mark the location of the tank. Dark fires at it causing the tank to blow up. Simultaneously, Nelson detonates the C4 and the guys storm in. A fire fight breaks with the raiders caught in surprise. Some elementals arrive but they didn't stood a chance and were easily knocked out. "This floor is clean, Dark. Head upstairs.", Nelson says. "Okay people. Move.", Dark says as he rises up and takes the sniper with him. Darkness and Mike follows Dark as he goes upstairs. Dark takes his position and says," Watch out! People are waiting to ambush you guys. I'll take them out.", before firing at the ambushers. Darkness takes cover behind a column and covers Dark as he reloads. Nelson's team heads up. "The floor is clean. Dark head.. What the heck is that?!", Nelson says. Dark turns his sniper towards him. He sees a giant rock elemental in front of Nelson. The elemental uses Rock Tomb on Sparks severely wounding him. "Everyone use your moves!", Nelson shouts before using his Psybeam on the elemental. Dark uses his Dark Pulse while Darkness uses her shadow ball. Pyro and Autumn heads over to Sparks to help him while the drone returns back to the van. The elemental survives the ordeal and was about to cast another Rock Tomb when suddenly, Autumn uses her Leaf Blade. The elemental, gets knocked out. "Autumn! Pyro! Take Sparks back to the van. I'll come later with Dark and his team.", Nelson says as Pyro and Autumn helps Sparks to stand up. "He's alive. Just traumatized by that.", Pyro says. "Uhh.. Nelson? I guess that was their leader. I am seeing raiders fleeing away from the building. Dark is shooting at them so don't worry about them. Anyways, we did it. We actually pulled this off.", Darkness says via the walkie-talkie. "Yeah? It doesn't matters. Sparks is injured. Get to the car, now!", Nelson says. "Dark, Mike, we need to head to the car.", Darkness says. Dark rises up and picks his sniper up before following Darkness. Mike follows Dark.

"Damn, I didn't got to do anything.", Mike says. "Yeah. These guys were dumb.", Dark says. After a while, they reach the 3rd floor where Nelson was waiting for them. "Took you guys long enough?", he says. "For one moment you were panicking and now you are calm. What are you up to Nelson?", Dark asks. "Nothing. Got a call from Flare that Sparks is stable. He's wounded but he'll be alright. We'll go to his house later in the morning.", Nelson replies as he starts walking to his car. "Lemme check the time. Damn, its past midnight. Now I know why you are so chill.", Dark says as he follows. "Is it? Then, Darkness take the wheels. You drive.", Nelson says. "Mike. You don't look tired?", Darkness asks. "All I did was provided cover to your backs but nobody came from behind.", Mike replies. "Understandable.", Darkness says. "Here take the keys. I'll sit behind.", Nelson says throwing the keys towards Darkness. "Lets go home.", Dark says as he enters the car. Darkness gets in the car and starts it. Mike also gets in the car but remains silent. "I still can't believe that we won against an armed fortress occupied by raiders. Am I dead?", Nelson asks as the car goes away from the base. "No you are not. Also don't even try to punch yourself.", Dark replies. "I know that for a fact Dark but seriously, I can't believe this.", Nelson says. "Yeah. Same feelings here. These raiders had dread but, that was all fake.", Dark says.

A few minutes later, the car reaches Sparks's home. "I'll just leave it out here.", Darkness says as she turns the ignition off before leaving the car. The rest follow Darkness as she rings the doorbell. The door opens and Autumn steps out from the house saying, "Oh you guys are here already. Well its too late. Sparks is already fast asleep. Flare said that she will take care of him and told me to get some rest.". "Well then. Lemme guess, Glacey is inside too.", Dark asks. "No she's not. She left early.", Autumn replies. "I'm off to my place. See you guys tomorrow.", Nelson says as he starts to walk towards his house. "Later then.", Dark says. "So. Let's start walking?", Mike says as he starts walking. The rest follows Mike.

A few minutes pass by. Dark reaches his house with Mike and Darkness. "I'll be on the couch.", Dark says as he heads over to the living room. "I'll be in my room then.", Darkness says as she heads upstairs. Mike goes over to the kitchen for a small bite before he sleeps, like the others.
