Weeks Later
After not answering his calls or texts for longer then i would admit.
I reached out to Lucas. Ryan, Kennedy, and Rosemary were at school. I was extending my lunch break by an hour. I needed the air to cleared and the truth to what Ryan said to be confessed or denied.
We met at the bridge. He was seated one side of the park bench i was seated on the other.
"Is everything okay with you and the kids.?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah we are doing alright. Kennedy and Ryan are becoming more settled in regards to school and Rosemary is alot more me then i want to admit she's adjusted now. Making friends and enjoying her afterschool programs. I'm balancing work and raising my children i'm got it down path now. Why do you ask.?" Brooke questioned.
"When i didn't hear from you. I got worried. I know you are perfectly capable of handling yourself and you're life. But that doesn't mean i'll just stop caring about you." Lucas replied.
Desperate to change the subject. Brooke took a breath and refocused the conversation.
"I asked you here because during my talk with Ryan and Kennedy. Ryan told me you were aware that they existed. And decided to keep it a secret because you didn't want you're life with Peyton interupted. Is that true.?" Brooke asked.
An expression of disbelief went across Lucas's face.
"No none of it is true. You know me. You know how i was disregarded by Dan. He went along with his life acting like i wasn't there. I would never put my kids through that. Peyton knew. All those years and she kept it from me. Her lies have done what she intended. Ryan and Kennedy. My sons want nothing to do with me."
"That is breaking my heart more then you can understand. I can't lose you too." Lucas confessed.
"I was never yours to keep or cherish. I won't keep our boys from you but they have to be open and willing to have in their life. Forcing them will only make things worse." Brooke replied.
"Thank you for reaching back out." Lucas said.
"You're welcome. I'll see you around." Brooke said. Getting up from where she was seated turning from him as she made her way to the parking lot got into her car. And began to drive away.
...
Lucas sighed deeply. Letting out a frustrated scream.
Burying his face in his hands.
Sometime Later
"You are never not a welcomed guest in our home at the dining room table. We enjoy you're company." Haley said.
"Rules are Rules Taylor. Lydia and Jamie have to follow them too."
"You embarrassed these rules are ruining my life !" The teenager shouted from the top of the stairs.
"Did i visit at a bad time.?" Lucas asked.
"Not at all. Stay eat and drink." Nathan replied.
"What was that all about.?" Haley asked.
Taylor had a boy hidden away in her closet. When he saw me he climbed out the window." Nathan revealed.
"We warned her about having boys in her room. Well we have to lock up the window and ground her." Haley replied.
"By the time Jamie, Lydia, and Taylor, leave after graduation i will have stressed and aged by 10 or 20 years." Nathan said.
"Let's talk about a happier topic. So Luke fill in Nate and I how has getting to know you're sons been.?" Haley asked. Leading the way towards the kitchen table where they all sat down beside each other.
"Peyton my life. She's turning them against me and i don't know what to do." Lucas admitted. Unshed tears welling up in his eyes.
