Bella woke up feeling a little bit colder than usual. The blankets were not fully covering her and she had no clothes on, which certainly explained a lot The room was still dark, signalling that it was far earlier than she thought it was.. As she rolled over, Edward was sitting up in bed, looking deep in thought.
"Good morning," she said with a tired voice as she curled up beside him and set her hand against his chest. She was hoping she was being reassuring and calming to him, because he looked anything but relaxed this morning. "I hope you slept well."
Bella decided to be bold, something she wasn't particularly known for in the bedroom, and she sat up and straddled Edward's lap. She grasped his face gently in both hands, leaning in for a deep kiss, which Edward reciprocated easily, causing Bella's anxiety to wane. His hands gripped her ass much more forcefully than the night before and their kiss deepened beyond compare.
Within seconds, Bella was tossed onto her back on the bed as Edward hovered above her and thrust inside her, a huge sigh of relief falling from his lips as he did so. "I've thought about nothing but this all night," Edward admitted as they moved in perfect harmony.
They took their time enjoying the feeling of each other, both of them unsure when it would happen again, and it was almost nine in the morning when Bella's stomach growled in the most unladylike way, reminding them that real life awaited them outside their motel room door.
Bella was the first to move from their bed and begin to get ready for the morning. They had already showered, having just had sex in there as well, but now they had to face reality. Once she was dressed, Bella peeked out the window and saw the sunshine was starting to melt the snow. She would say she was relieved, but it had been nice being holed up with Edward, finally giving in to their mutual feelings and being cut off from the outside world. Bella just wasn't sure what the heck was going to happen when they left.
"You are stuck inside your head," Edward said sweetly as he slipped his hands around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder. "Just like I was earlier."
"You know me surprisingly well," Bella laughed. "I'm wondering if there is anyway we can just stay here a little while longer. No one cares where we are."
"I beg to differ," Edward said as he brushed her hair off her shoulder and gave her a quick kiss on her neck. "Alice cares where we are. I'm sure your father and friends would be upset with me if I spirited you away forever, too. This isn't like one of my fantasy novels."
"Well, I'd text them to let them know I'm fine," Bella laughed as Edward began to tickle her sides. She turned around and kissed him one more time before stepping back. "I know you are right, but going back to the real world just doesn't sound appealing to me now. I don't want things to change."
"Maybe change will be good for us."
Bella packed her small duffle bag as Edward made sure they left nothing behind in the room. They had already called a local tow truck company and Edward had offered to pay them double if they delivered the truck back to his house in Seattle, which they were more than eager to do. He had grand plans of surprising Bella with a new car, but after overthinking it earlier in the morning, he knew that was way out of line. For now, he would settle with getting her truck fixed and lending her the Volvo.
They ate breakfast in the car after Bella grabbed some pastries and coffee at a small local bakery and immediately got on the road, now that they were cleared and salted. Bella drove, seeing as Edward barely got any sleep that night. He admitted to spending most of the night in the room watching her.
"I like watching you sleep. It's kind of fascinating to me."
"I believe the proper term is creepy as fuck," Bella laughed. She didn't find it nearly as odd as she said she did. After all, if his office door was left often, Bella often found herself staring at Edward in his office from a distance.
"It's actually given me some ideas for my next book, so don't knock it."
"You watch me sleep and think of story ideas? I should get paid for that, you know."
"I'll see what we can work out," Edward smiled as he took a sip of his coffee and Bella took the opportunity to discuss what was surely on both of their minds.
"So, how is this going to work now?" Bella said tentatively. The one thing that had worried her from the moment she realized she was attracted to Edward, was how to balance their work life with a love life. Now they had to face it head on.
"We're going to date," Edward said succinctly. "Well, as well as we can I suppose. I think I should set specific work hours and any time we spend above and beyond that is personal time."
"Well, that sounds promising," Bella said as she felt Edward's hand rest on her thigh. They had agreed to take the long way home, driving down through Tacoma rather than take the ferry. Both were happy to have the extra time together, because they knew when they got out of the car things were going to be infinitely different.
"We are grown adults and I think we can separate our business relationship from our personal. Don't you?"
"Well, the lines were blurred between us from the very beginning, Mr. Cullen, so honestly I think we may have issues." Bella laughed.
"Okay, so here's the deal. We each do our work throughout the day. If we find ourselves wanting to kiss the other, that's not the end of the world. We can kiss. I just think our focus should be our individual careers, seeing as I have a deadline fast approaching, and if I spend all day with you I will get nothing done," Edward admitted as his hand sneaked further up her thigh. Bella wanted to push him away, but she found herself unable to resist him. Hell, she knew from the very first day she wouldn't be able to stay away from him.
For the rest of the car ride, they tried to take their focus off their relationship quandary. They talked about Edward's new book and things that needed to be done work wise. They laughed at length about Alice and her antics, and Edward happily announced they Alice had informed the family at Thanksgiving dinner the night before that she and Jasper were expecting their first child in early May.
"I think Uncle Edward has a nice ring to it, don't you think?" Edward questioned, as Bella found herself stuck at a stop light daydreaming of Edward holding a baby. Thankfully, she was on the pill and had no worries there, but she thought the whole concept was beyond sexy and was suddenly eager to get back to Edward's home.
"I think you will be a great uncle. I'm sure you will spoil that kid rotten."
"I'm the kind of uncle that will buy the noisy musician instruments and shit that will annoy the parents. It's the least I can do for Alice, who was the most annoying little sister ever."
"You do realize that Alice will just do the same thing to you right when you have kids. It's only fair." Bella suddenly pictured her running after two little kids in Edward's backyard, adorable little doppelgangers to their father and she stopped short and shook her head.
"You okay?" Edward questioned, as he rubbed her thigh soothingly.
"Yeah, just eager to get out of the car," Bella lied. "It's been a long couple of days."
Thirty minutes later, Bella pulled into the driveway of Edward's home and they each breathed a sigh of relief. During the balance of the car ride, Edward spent most of his time convincing Bella to take the car for a few days while they got hers back to Seattle and fixed it. Though she was reluctant, she finally agreed when Edward reminded her jokingly that it wasn't like he was going to be using it for anything in the coming days. "I've had enough adventure in the last twenty four hours."
All this did to Bella was pique her interest. She knew Edward was somewhat of an agoraphobic, but he could still go out in public a little bit, as evidenced by the previous day. He just chose not to. Bella had once broached the topic very carefully with Alice, who declared that it was Edward's story to tell, not hers, so Bella had no further information. However, now that she and Edward were officially dating, she knew she needed to discuss the topic with him, and sooner rather than later. After all, it was going to be very hard to date someone who refused to leave their house unless it was to rescue a damsel in distress on Thanksgiving night.
"So, this is where the adventure ends today?" Bella said reluctantly as they stepped from the car and headed into the house.
"Hardly," Edward replied with a sly smile on his face. "I've been daydreaming about taking a nap with my girlfriend, ordering in some dinner and maybe relieving that shower we had this morning. Are you game?"
Bella knew if Edward was asking, she would always be game.
"How about you just move in?" Edward asked, as Bella whipped around in surprise and Edward looked very serious. Suddenly, Bella wasn't as game as she thought she would be.
So... who is relieved that it wasn't a dream? LOL A lot of you suspected that, which made me laugh. I'm sure a bunch of you also caught the movie reference I threw in there too LOL. Well, I'm off to take care of the hubs. He had hernia surgery on Friday and I'm his Nurse Ratched. LOL
