The next day, the gang hit the road again. Jeanette had convinced Rowlf to join them, as he could score the movie they were making. Looking at the landscape and feeling happy, Fozzie burst into song:

O Beautiful, for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain.

For purple mountain's majesty,

Above the fruited plain.

America, America,

God shed his grace on thee.

And crown thy good,

With brotherhood,

From sea to shining sea.

Jeanette once again clapped from the back. "Bravo, Fozzie. That was great!"

Fozzie put his hat back on as he kept driving. "Patriotism swells in the heart of the American Bear."

But Lucy still looked out the window. The journey had changed her. In more ways than one, but she couldn't put a finger on it.

Jeanette nudged Lucy's shoulder. "So, what happened to you down there? I missed it."

Lucy was reminded that they hadn't known about Doc Hopper's visit yet. "Oh, nothing." She snickered, trying to hide the trauma. "Just...stuff involving Kermit. I got to play his agent again."

"Oh," Jeanette seemed to know the subtext, but not really. "So...are you feeling any better from last night?"

"A bit," Lucy shrugged. "But I still want to see where the journey will end before calling victory."

They drove further on. "So how much longer to Hollywood?" Kylie wondered.

"We have to be there by tomorrow for the auditions, I think," Kermit estimated.

"Wait, what?" Lucy forgot there was a time limit. What would happen if she failed? How would the Fairy Godmother react. She could not handle the thought. But she hoped it would not come to that. They were almost there after all.

But to everyone's surprise, they saw Miss Piggy on the road, looking to hitch a ride. She was dressed normally, sitting on her suitcase. "Oh, look. It's Miss Piggy," Lucy pointed. "Let's rescue her."

"You sure?" Fozzie was confused.

"Yeah, she really does mean well," Lucy insisted. "I know."

Miss Piggy pulled her bag up to the window and smiled. "Oh, Kermit. What an unbelievable coincidence."

"Nice to meet you again, Miss Piggy," Lucy shook her hand.

"And you too, Lucy," Piggy returned. "So now, we are off." She climbed into the seat and threw her suitcase at Gonzo.

As they drove off, she tried to make small talk. "Some things have happened to me since I saw you last."

Kermit dismissed her offhand. "Quite frankly, Miss Piggy. I don't give a hoot."

"How rude?" Lucy frowned.

"What? I don't."

"Yeah, but don't say it," Lucy scolded. "Keep it to yourself."

"I'm Rowlf the Dog," their new comrade introduced. "I play piano…" But he drifted off as the journey continued.

"I missed you," Piggy broke the silence after a few minutes.

"Yeah," Kermit answered as mellow music played on the radio.

"Don't I get a kiss?" Miss Piggy kept trying to make the moves.

"Well...I…I don't think so, Miss Piggy."

"Just one hug?" Miss Piggy kept insisting.

"Um...okay," Kermit moved in and they hugged.

Right then, the radio signal was hijacked. "You've been listening to 'Music to Hug Frogs By'. This is Doc Hopper. If Kermit the Frog or his agent do not stop right now and agree to be my spokes-mascot, then Kermit will be a frog burger." They heard the sound of a gun cocking on the radio.

"Oh, no, Kermit," Lucy panicked. "They're onto us again."

"You mean?" Jeanette spoke up at last.

"They kidnapped Kermit and I last night. They were going to fry our brains, but Miss Piggy bailed us out. But we didn't want to tell you because you might freak out."

"Goodness," everyone gasped. "I'm so glad you managed to escape."

"We'll be okay," Kermit promised, still in shock.

Just then, the car engine sputtered and putted. Eventually, they skidded to a stop. "Oh, dear," Fozzie sighed. They were stranded in the middle of nowhere. With the deadline fast approaching.

"Hey, don't worry," Gonzo kept up the spirits. "Someone's bound to come along."

Nobody did. Night fell, and the gang set up camp beside the car.

Rowlf toasted marshmallows and looked at Gonzo. "Well, I guess we blew it."

"Yeah," Gonzo nodded in agreement. But seeming hopeful, he looked up. "But the sky sure is beautiful out here. Look at that." Everyone tilted their heads in the direction Gonzo was looking. It was a big, beautiful sky.

But it could not sway Jeanette and Fozzie, who were still depressed. "We're going to miss the auditions tomorrow, right?" Jeanette sputtered, trying to hold back tears.

The frog hung his head in depression. Lucy gave him a hug, but she knew her time was through. "Don't worry, Kermit," she sobbed back a little. "The Fairy Godmother should save us. That's how this works, right?"

Gonzo still kept looking into space. "You could get lost in a sky like that." He hung his head low. "I wish I had those balloons again."

"So much for empty promises," Kylie rolled her eyes back. "How about that Fairy Godmother, huh?"

"She never promised anything," Lucy confirmed. "She just gave me a mission and said I was on my own. I had something to do and...I couldn't. Sorry, guys." She looked off in the horizon. "I don't know what this means for me. But you guys could go on. You'll find other things to do in Hollywood."

They all seemed to understand, but said nothing. Rowlf played his harmonica to lighten the spirits. Lucy motioned for Fozzie's acoustic guitar and began strumming in time. Gonzo sang:

This looks familiar

Vaguely familiar

Almost unreal yet

It's too soon to feel yet

Close to my soul

And yet so far away

I'm going to go back there

Someday

Sunrises, night falls

Sometimes the sky calls

Is that a song there

And do I belong there

I've never been there

But I know the way

I'm going to go back there

Someday

The gang began to add some vocal harmonies:

Come and go with me

It's more fun to share

We'll both be, completely

At home in midair

We're flying not walking

On featherless wings

We can hold on to love

Like invisible strings

There's not a word yet

For old friends who've just met

Part heaven, part space

Or have I found my place

You can just visit

But I plan to stay

I'm going to go back there

Someday

I'm going to go back there

Someday

After the song, Kermit and Lucy walked alone in the desert. They meandered about, both trying to find Hollywood and looking for a miracle.

"What do I know about Hollywood?" Kermit spoke to himself. "Just some dreams about double features and stuff."

"But Kermit," Lucy tried to remind him. "Why did you leave the swamp in the first place?" She spread her arms out wide. "Heck, why did I leave my own time period and come to be with you?"

"'Cause Kylie's uncle said I had talent," Kermit scoffed, continuing to walk. "Probably says that to everybody."

"But the Fairy Godmother sent me for a reason," Lucy insisted. "And I think I am still supposed to be the one to help."

"And if you hadn't left the swamp, you'd be feeling miserable anyhow," a new but familiar voice appeared. "Same to you, Lucy."

Lucy and Kermit looked around. "Who said that?" Lucy swirled her head all around, but could not see anyone.

"Yeah, but then it would just be me being miserable," Kermit argued. "Now I've got a bear and a lady pig. And a chicken and a dog. And a...Whatever! And two other human girls who got roped into this. Lucy just wasted her time."

"I think Gonzo might be a turkey," the new voice stood up. Lucy smiled as she recognized her Fairy Godmother once more. "You came!"

"You know her?" Kermit questioned.

"It's the Fairy Godmother," Lucy waved. "Hello. Sorry I screwed it up."

"Oh, you screwed up nothing," Fairy Godmother answered. "Now, Kermit. How does the rest of your story go."

"But anyway," Kermit continued. "I roped them all into the middle of nowhere. And it's all my fault."

"But whether Hollywood was promised or not," the Fairy Godmother walked over to them. "You must remember...they wanted to come. Nobody tugged their arm and made them."

"That's true," Lucy rubbed her arm shyly. "Even Jeanette and Kylie stayed with me because they wanted to be friends. They were just looking for a good time."

"But that's because they believed in me," Kermit dismissed.

"No," the Fairy Godmother shot back. "They believed in the Dream!"

"The Dream?" Now it was Lucy's turn to be confused.

"Yes, the dream of a better future and how anyone can be anything," the Fairy Godmother smiled.

"Yeah, I believe in it too," Kermit sighed.

"And so?"

"So…" Kermit began to realize something. "So I guess I was wrong when I said I never promised anyone. I promised myself."

"Exactly," the Fairy Godmother winked. "And as long as you realized that, the mission I set out for you and Lucy has been accomplished."

"Yeah," Lucy pumped her hands. Then, she consulted the Fairy Godmother. "And let's just say, I feel changed by this expedition. I feel like I am growing into a new person."

The Fairy Godmother shushed her. "All in due time," she silenced. "We can discuss that later. But for right now, I commend you for helping the frog realize his journey, and your ability to help people. This has transformed both of you."

"I'm glad," Lucy nodded. "I find I do have a knack for helping people." But she looked around. "So...how are we going to get to Hollywood now?"

The Fairy Godmother winked. "Things have an odd habit of working out," she smiled. "You will see how it gets resolved." And with a swirl of stars, the Fairy Godmother disappeared.

Then, they heard upbeat harmonica music. Kermit and Lucy walked back to the campsite to see what was up.

The music got jazzier and more upbeat as they got closer. Lucy and Kermit were relieved to see the Electric Mayhem performing right before everyone. Kylie was jamming in the stands with them as they played.

Kermit was stunned as he saw them. "What's happening?"

Floyd answered, "At the moment, we're what's happening!"

They played a bit more, then Dr. Teeth silenced the band. "Alright, hold it! Animal, cool it back there!" And they all stopped playing.

"It's wonderful to see you guys," Lucy praised. "But how did you ever find us?"

"I went looking for help," Kylie explained. "I held up a semaphore flag and one of those flare guns Fozzie kept in the car…"

"Never know when you'd need them," Fozzie winked.

"And we just happened to be driving along when we saw the flare," Dr. Teeth finished. "Your little friend told us everything after."

"Cool," Lucy smiled. Kylie was smart and did everything right.

"So what time do you have to be at the audition?" Floyd asked.

"Two PM tomorrow," Kylie answered.

"No problem," Dr. Teeth smiled. "Just hop in the bus, and we'll have breakfast at Hollywood and Vine!" Everyone cheered. They had a new ride and a path to Hollywood. Nothing could stop them now.
