Chapter 13: The Candy Room

AN: Time for the characters to enter the world of pure imagination. Enjoy!

The wall continued to open until the guests could see what was on the other side. They all stepped out onto a concrete intermediate landing that had a staircase to the left. Once everyone saw what was on the other side, their eyes all widened in surprise and wonder. It was a marvelous sight to behold! The visitors were gazing upon a colorful valley with green meadows and a brown river that flowed through the center of the valley. Scattered everywhere were different kinds of candy, like large gummy bears, giant lollipops, round toadstools with whipped cream, candy cane trees, butterscotch stepping stones, etc. the main centerpiece of the room was the large brown waterfall that seemed to rise about 30 to 40 feet. A few yards away from the bottom of the waterfall were a collection of glass pipes that appeared to be sucking up the brown liquid in the river. At both ends of the river was a dark tunnel that was too dark to see into. Everyone's mouths were watering at the sight of the room while Wonka closed the wall back up and also glanced around the room.

"Hold your breath...make a wish...count to three..." Wonka smiled before he began to sing.

[Willy Wonka]

Come with me

And you'll be

In a world of pure imagination

Take a look

And you'll see

Into your imagination

The chocolatier started to walk down the steps of the staircase and the guests were influenced to do the same until he stopped and stuck his cane out, indicating that he wanted them to stop as well.

[Willy Wonka]

We'll begin

With a spin

Traveling in

The world of my creation

What we'll see

Will defy...Explanation

Wonka then resumed walking down the staircase and the guests followed suite. They eventually reached another intermediate landing with a shorter staircase. Once they all reached the landing, Wonka stuck his cane out again, causing the others to abruptly stop once more.

[Willy Wonka]

If you want to view paradise

Simply look around and view it

Anything you want to, do it

Want to change the world?

There's nothing to it

Wonka walked all the way down the staircase followed by the group before he turned around and faced them. he then gave a smile, stepped to the side and gestured towards the Candy Room. Realizing that this was permission to start eating anything, the guests began to run in different directions, helping themselves to the large amounts of candy. Wonka however, trailed behind as he continued to sing as he strolled through the valley, spinning his cane.

[Willy Wonka]

There is no

Life I know

To compare with pure imagination

Living there

You'll be free

If you truly wish to be

Flurry and her brothers began helping themselves to some of the large gummy bears, with Patrick biting onto one of the ears. Diamond Tiara began licking one of the candy cane trees while Trixie did the same to another one. Button tried to jump up and grab one of the big lollipops, but then Wonka struck the stick with his cane, causing the lollipop to lower down so Button could lick it. Out of all the kids, Truffle was obviously stuffing his face with as much candy as he could. He even tried some of the grass in the valley, which tasted like green apple. The adults also helped themselves to some of the delicious goodies, even the whipped cream toadstools. Wonka whimsically moved through the valley before he stood on a little hill with the brown waterfall flowing behind him in the background.

Wonka then walked down from the hill and sat by a green bush that had yellow teacups and small plates on it. The cups were filled with sweetened tea and the cups and plates were made out of colored wafer. He took one of the cups and drank some of the tea inside it.

[Willy Wonka]

There is no

Place to go

To compare with your imagination

So go there to be free

If you truly wish to be

After he finished the song, he finished drinking all the tea in the cup before he took a bite out of it. So far, the tour seemed to be going well, but little did they all know that it was only going to get more interesting.

A while later, once everyone had their fill on the candy, they all met up in a small area nearby the brown river and began to look it over. Wonka soon joined them and they began having a conversation surrounding the brown liquid in the river, trying to figure out what the brown stuff was.

"What a disgusting, dirty river!" Mrs. Shuffle scrunched up her nose.

"It must be industrial waste if anything. Has your water supply been tampered with, Mr. Wonka?" Filthy Rich guessed.

"It's polluted," Mr. Mash commented.

"It's chocolate," Wonka corrected him, which caused everyone to look at the river in wonder.

"That's chocolate?!" Diamond Tiara questioned.

"That's chocolate!" Flurry gasped.

"Exactly! Every drop of this river is hot-melted chocolate of the finest quality," Wonka explained.

"A chocolate river!" Trixie exclaimed.

"Wow!" Patrick didn't know what else to say.

"That's the most extraordinary thing I've ever seen!" Bob said in awe.

"Yes, it flows with over 10,000 gallons an hour," Wonka continued before pointing towards the glass pipes and brown waterfall. "Those glass pipes over there suck up the chocolate and carry it away to different rooms in the factory. And the waterfall is the most important thing. It's mixing and churning the chocolate to make it light and frothy. And for the record, no other factory in the world mixes its chocolate by waterfall. But it's the only way if you want it just right."

"Bob, Patrick, look over there across the river! They're little people!" Flurry pointed in a different direction.

Bob, Patrick and the others all looked to where Flurry was pointing and they all gasped in amazement. True to her word, there was a group of five little people across the chocolate river. They all had beady eyes, orange skin and green hair. They were all dressed in brown shirts, white overalls, brown-and-white striped socks, and brown shoes. The five little people were carrying bags filled with sugar and a large jug filled with cream. The guests immediately began to talk about the strange little people with each other.

"Holy Munchkinland!" Patrick exclaimed.

"Now we know who makes the chocolate," Bob smiled.

"I've never seen a person with an orange face," Filthy Rich commented.

"What are they doing over there?" Spectacle asked.

"It must be around creaming and sugaring time," Wonka answered.

"But they can't be real people!" Button said in disbelief.

"Of course they're real people," Wonka countered.

"Balderdash!" Mr. Mash scoffed.

"No, they're Oompa Loompas," Wonka once again corrected him.

"Oompa Loompas?!" everyone turned to Wonka in surprise.

"Imported directly from Loompaland," Wonka nodded.

"Loompaland?! There's no such place!" Mrs. Mash laughed.

"With all due respect—" Wonka started to say until he was cut off.

"Mr. Wonka, I happen to be a teacher of high school geography," Mrs. Mash claimed.

Wonka instead began to explain about how he discovered the Oompa Loompas and what their homeland, Loompaland, was like. "Oh, then you know all about it. And what a terrible place it is! Loompaland is nothing but thick jungles infested with the most dangerous creatures in the world: Cragadiles, Bufogrens, and worst of all, those terrible Timberwolves. A Timberwolf would eat at least ten of them for breakfast and wouldn't mind going back for a second helping. I traveled to Loompaland to look for new flavors and ingredients for candy, but instead I found the Oompa Loompas. They lived in treehouses in order to be safe from the wild creatures below. The hardest thing for them to come by was finding food for themselves. They mostly ate nothing but green caterpillars, which tasted revolting. They spent hours climbing through the treetops, searching for other things to mash up with the caterpillars to make them taste better. They collected red beetles, leaves, bark from the bong-bong tree, all of which were also beastly, but not as beastly as the caterpillars. But the one food they longed for the most was the cocoa bean. An Oompa Loompa was lucky if he found three or four cocoa beans a year, but they craved for them. Coincidentally, the cocoa bean happens to be the main ingredient from which chocolate is made. So I told the chief of the tribe, 'Come live with me in peace and safety in my chocolate factory. I'll give you all the cocoa beans you want. I'll even pay your wages in cocoa beans if you prefer. Also, you'll be safe from all of the Timberwolves, Cragadiles, Bufogrens, and the bothersome Parasprites,'."

While Flurry and her brothers were amazed with the story, the others were mixed on it, since a lot of it was hard to believe.

"Timberwolves? Parasprites? What kind of rubbish is that?" Mr. Shuffle frowned in confusion.

"I'm sorry, but all questions must be submitted in writing," Wonka stated before he continued explaining. "And so, with the greatest plan of secrecy, I transported the entire population of Oompa Loompas to my factory. Of course, I had to have a school set up for them in order to teach them English, which took only half a year since they're known to be fast learners. They are such wonderful workers, but I must warn you they can be a little mischievous at times. They just love pull pranks and make jokes."

The others started to become interested in the Oompa Loompas, but the one who became obsessed with them was Diamond Tiara. She then gave another order to her father, which began to annoy the other guests, mainly Trixie.

"Daddy, I want an Oompa Loompa! I want you to get me one right away!" Diamond Tiara said to her father.

"All right, sweetheart, I'll get you one before the day is over," Filthy Rich answered.

"I want an Oompa Loompa NOW!" Diamond Tiara whined.

"Can it, you simpleton! The Great and Powerful Trixie cannot stand your petty whining!" Trixie snapped, causing the rich girl to give her a glare in return.

During the exchange, Truffle's attention was drawn to the chocolate river and hunger instantly took over his judgement. As quietly as he could, the overweight boy crept over to the edge of the bank, got onto his hands and knees, leaned over the edge and began scooping some of the melted chocolate into his mouth. Unbeknownst to him, this horrible decision on his part would cost him greatly.

AN: Again, HeySpike does NOT own any of the songs. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. Next time, we'll see what happens to the overweight Truffle Shuffle when he drinks from the chocolate river. Until then, catch ya later!
