It was raining

Conan, Ayumi, Genta and Mitsuhiko are on their way home after playing at the arcade. It's been a week since the school start and they want to have some refreshing time, well mostly Genta who wants it. They already invited Haibara but she says that she have to take care Professor Agasa after doing his works.

"Ehh so Shinichi-oniisan have been working until late?" asked Ayumi
"Ahh, ever since we came back from Osaka. After school, he will go to police headquarters until late night. The only time I meet him only in the morning before going to school" said Conan while remembering
"It must be a big case, why didn't you ask him?" asked Mitsuhiko
"I already ask but he said it's none of my business"
"Hah? But you are his brother so you should know!" said Genta seems didn't like it

Conan just laugh a little since he actually knows that the reason Shinichi didn't tell him is because he didn't want him to get involved so which means he's protecting him from the case. Just then Genta want to walk across but stops by someone because the light was about to change back to red.

Three of them obeyed and wait for the next green light. Conan look at the man who stop them and see him goes inside the public phone. He look on how he use his notebook and deduct his occupation as a police detective. Moments later, they are crossing the way until suddenly they look that the police detective was shot on his chest

"Guys! Call the ambulance and police" shout Conan run toward the police detective

When Conan arrives, the police detective was still conscious and Conan quickly ask him who shot him but the detective can't talk so he grab his left side chest but he stop moving. After the incident, Conan and his friends are being question by Inspector Megure, Takagi and Sato about the incident since they are witnesses. Shinichi is also with them and they tell what they see, well to be exact they got the full pure explanation from Conan instead.

After hearing Conan's report especially about the the detective hold his left side chest make Shinichi and Inspector Megure eye contact each other. After reporting, Sato and Takagi already make them goes out leaving only both Shinichi and Inspector Megure

"Kudou-kun, about this case… can you keep it a secret from Mouri-kun? I already make a mistake secretly making you involved in this" said Inspector Megure serious
"Okay keibu, I also haven't told Conan about this and I'm going to keep it that way" said Shinichi smiling serious
"Thank you Kudou-kun"

Conan seems to be secretly looking from the door gap, he look how serious Shinichi is to Inspector Megure

"Niichan, what have you got into?" thought Conan looking at Shinichi very serious

Few days later

At Beika Sun Plaza Hotel

Shinichi, Conan, Kogoro, Ran and Sonoko are now attending Inspector Shiratori's sister wedding. As Kogoro and Shinichi write their name, someone call Kogoro's handwriting to be bad which to be his wife, Kisaki Eri

"Mom!" said Ran happily seeing her mom
"You're invited too?" asked Kogoro seems unhappy seeing his wife
"Yes, Sara-san is an upcoming attorney I work with" said Eri while writing her name on the guest book

"Geez, you two are married, why bother write your name" said Conan in his thoughts which Shinichi can't help to laugh
"Can't be helped right…Married but living separately" thought Shinichi to Conan
"Hahaha..."

The wedding party started and the crowd congratulate the groom and bride happily. Conan then use that chance to talk to his big brother. Shinichi then bow down to his size

"Is it about time you tell me? About this case?" whisper Conan to his big brother

Shinichi just give a small smile and then squat down to Conan's size and face his little brother face

"I'm sorry Conan but I can't" said Shinichi in low voice
"Why? I mean this is a big case right? You always told me about this kind of cases"
"Yeah but… Inspector Megure even ask me not to tell Ran's father about it, actually I was not suppose to know either but I got to know by accident"
"Accident?"
"Remember when we got back from Osaka and I head straight to the police headquarters, that's where it started"

Conan seems doubtful about it because the fact that Shinichi ask him to stay at Ran for this past few days make him wonder even more. It's the first time they meet after few days so which make Conan unhappy about it

"Is it really because Inspector Megure ask you or you're the one who don't want to tell me?" asked Conan who seems hitting the mark
"Conan…"
"I'm sure because you want to protect me right? Since it seems it's a really big one that yourself can't handle it so you hope I don't get involved and taking part of this case like back at the Serial Bombing case"
"You deduct everything… I'm sorry, I will tell you after I confirm the doubtful deduction okay. Now, do you miss me? We haven't meet for a few days" said Shinichi smirking
"No, I don't… Why I have to miss an arrogant high school detective and baka mystery geek?"
"Akh… I'm hurt little detective"
"Shut up"

Shinichi stand up and just smile to his little brother, he then rub his hair which of course the grade schooler didn't like. Eri, Ran and Sonoko see the brothers can't helped to smile

"Those two are still close as ever" said Eri smiling at the brothers interaction
"Hehehe you're right" said Ran smiling

Moments later, Inspector Shiratori visit them and introduce his doctor, Kazato to Kogoro and Shinichi. Inspector Shiratori told him that he's a psychiatrist and then he told Kogoro for getting Kazato to check on him which Kogoro realize that he's actually teasing him for being the sleeping detective. Conan and Shinichi can't help to laugh loudly which get a hit by Kogoro. Moments later, Kogoro goes to Inspector Megure and ask about the case but he reject to answer. Conan goes near him and then tell that maybe is something that he can't tell him which Kogoro hurriedly goes to Takagi and force him to explain

Takagi just able to tell them that the first case, detective Shiba was holding his police notebook. Both Kogoro and Conan was surprised except one person who already know. Before Kogoro press further, Inspector Shiratori stop Takagi and tell Kogoro the special police phrase 'Need not to know' to which sealed Kogoro's mouth. Conan was surprised and look at his brother who just give a defeat look, Conan then shut up and just sigh about it. Shinichi then goes to Inspector Megure without Kogoro noticing so Conan give up and goes near the girls who are now talking with the groom and bride

"So he didn't say anything special to propose?" asked Sonoko to the bride
"No, he's not good at that sort of thing" said Sara to the girls
"It's better that way, anyone who lays the flattery on so thick is no good" said Eri

Conan look at his brother who happen to sneeze which can't help to giggle. Ran then ask her mother on how Kogoro propose to her but she lied that she forgot so the three girls push her to tell the truth

"Well… he said… I love you. More than anyone on this Earth, or something like that!" said Eri while blushing

Conan, Ran and the bride blush hearing how Kogoro propose to Eri while Sonoko was shock and look toward Kogoro who sneeze in disbelief

"Woah Occhan is good at words but wait... I think I heard those words somewhere" thought Conan impressed while thinking
"That's nice!" shout Ran happily and start daydreaming

Conan and Sonoko smirk since they know what Ran is thinking. Both of them can't help to giggle at Ran's reaction

"Oh, if Shinichi were to say that to me… Get that look of your face!" said Sonoko while hitting Ran with a mocking and smirking face
"I don't have that look, Sonoko!" said Ran while blushing
"Ah re re, why Ran-neechan's face is red?" asked Conan smirking and mocking Ran
"Eh?! No, it's nothing!" said Ran while blushing looking at Conan

Conan and Sonoko just smirk at her for thinking like that. Both of them look at each other smiling as if winning the game

Time Skip~

Conan and Kogoro notice that Inspector Megure seems want to talk to Sato but Sato declined and goes away from the party hall. Shinichi who sees it want to go out as well

"Where are you going?" asked Conan
"Toilet" said Shinichi smiling

Conan look at his brother who's walking out but he suddenly have a bad feeling, as if something bad is going to happen. As he was about to follow him, Kogoro call him and ask him to take more drinks. Conan can't deny and quickly take the drinks for him. After giving the drinks, he about to go out until suddenly a blackout happens

"Eh?" "Blackout?" said the guests in surprised

"Oi oi what happen?" thought Conan

Suddenly they heard a scream which Kogoro and Conan recognize the voice which to be Ran's. Conan turn on his flashlight from his watch and run toward the source of the voice with Kogoro, Takagi, Inspector Megure follow him.

When they arrived to the girls toilet, much to their surprised to see three unconscious adults on the bloody-watery ground. Which to be Sato, Ran and Shinichi

"Niichan/Ran/Sato-san!" shout Conan, Kogoro and Takagi who run toward their respective people

Superintendent Odagiri who arrives bark to Inspector Shiratori to seal the hotel exits and Inspector Megure call the ambulance. Conan look at his big brother closely and it seems that he has been shot at the back and on his left chest, he look around and see a flashlight, gun and wide open cabinet. Conan try to call him but it seems Shinichi has lost consciousness so he quickly press his wounds to at least stop the blood from coming out.

"Come on! Don't you even dare to scared me!" shout Conan angrily

Moments later the ambulance arrives and take three of them to bed stroller. Conan followed Shinichi's body and force himself to get on the ambulance. The medic team about to kick him out but Conan glare at them

"I'm his brother! Just let me and start do something with him please!" shout Conan in anger

The medics surprised and didn't argue more to him. They quickly start do their procedures on each wounds

"Please Shinichi-niichan… please" said Conan worried with bloody hands

Time Skip~

At Beika Central Hospital

Conan and Inspector Megure are now in front of the surgery room. Inspector Megure look at the shivering boy who's the little brother of the victim

"It will be alright Conan-kun… I'm sure Sato-kun and Kudou-kun will make it" said Inspector Megure to the grade schooler
"But the doctor said that he…"

Before Conan continue his words, Inspector Shiratori, Takagi, Kogoro, Eri and Sonoko arrives and ask for details. Inspector Megure told them that both Sato and Shinichi only have 50% chance because the bullet stopped near their hearts. Hearing that Conan squeeze his pants in anger, Eri sees it and quickly pat Conan's back to calm him down. Eri then ask about Ran and Inspector told her that she didn't suffered any external injuries but she's still unconscious so they put her on the room at the far end. Eri ask Conan to come but Conan declined so Eri respect his decision and she goes to Ran's room with Sonoko

The polices began talking about the case and Conan told them that he sees the cabinet is wide open so which means the culprit must have set up the flashlight to guide the target. Inspector Shiratori then tell Inspector Megure that it is sure that this incident is related to the case. Kogoro bark at them to know more but suddenly Sonoko run to them

"Uncle! This is bad! It's Ran!" shout Sonoko worried
"What about her?" asked Kogoro surprised
"She's conscious but she's acting strange!"

"Eh?!" asked all of them

Conan run toward her room follow by the others in worried. Conan goes in the room and see that Ran is sitting with Eri beside her

"Ran-neechan!"

Conan's voice manage to get Ran's attention and Conan notice that she look at him in blank look

"Are you alright, Ran-neechan?" asked Conan slowly
"Little boy… who are you?"

Those words shock not only Conan but all the people in the room. All of them are too shock to talk which Eri quickly tell them

"She doesn't remember any of us or her own name" said Eri looking at her daughter
"That can't be! I'm your father, Mouri Kogoro and she's your mother, Kisaki Eri!" shout Kogoro in front of her

Ran shove her face away and tell them that she didn't remember. Conan tighten his fist even more by Ran's condition

Time Skip~

Ran already examined by Doctor Kazato after being called by Inspector Shiratori and he tell them that Ran loses her memory due to shock seeing Sato and Shinichi shot right in front of her. Conan was unsure if that really happens, because as much shocking it was, it can't triggered her to lose her memories. Kazato excuse himself and both Takagi and Chiba comes in

"Both Sato-san and Kudou-kun surgery have done" said Takagi
"So?! How is he!?" shout Conan
"They managed to remove their bullets but… it's hard to say that both of them will survive, for now both of them are in Coma"

Conan who hears that became weak and hit the table in anger. Eri quickly hug him and calm him down

"Conan-kun... Shinichi-kun is a strong boy, he will wake up soon" said Eri in soft motherly voice
"Niichan…" said Conan in low voice

Kogoro look at Conan and then stand up in anger to Inspector Megure because he didn't tell him anything about the case after almost harmed both Shinichi and Ran's life. Conan let go from Eri's hug and ask Chiba about the flashlight to which Chiba just give a sad look to him

"Well, we found that there's only Ran-san fingerprints on it" said Chiba
"What?!" shout three of them in surprised

"We all assumed that it was Sato-san who held that flashlight but it turns out it was Ran-san"

Conan eyes shot up in surprised but then he remember the wounds on Shinichi to which now he's sure

"I knew it…" said Conan in low voice

Conan's voice manage to grab everyone's attention in the room

"What do you mean Conan-kun?" asked Inspector Megure
"Ran-neechan must have feel it's her fault that Sato-keiji was shot and..." said Conan who seems can't continue to which Eri do it for him
"By what Conan-kun mean is, Ran not only think that it's her fault that Sato-keiji was shot when she found that flashlight but she also think that it's because of her that Shinichi-kun got shot for protecting her from the culprit" said Eri

"So that must be the shock why Ran-kun lost her memory?!" shout Inspector Megure

The whole room turn into silence by the whole truth. Conan hands can't stop shivering after deduct the whole truth, Eri hold Conan's hands to at least ease him down. With that, Inspector Megure gives up and tell them the whole case. From the first victim until the shooting case just now

After hearing the case, Conan walk slowly to Takagi who's guarding Sato's room and beside is another detective who's guarding Shinichi's room. Takagi told the detective that Conan is Shinichi's relative and he will be staying by his side for the night in which the detective okay with it since he knows about both of them

Conan comes in and see the heart monitor and Shinichi still asleep with an oxygen mask. The police detectives did said that Shinichi is now in Coma due to what happen. Conan take a seat beside him and stare at his face

"Niichan…" said Conan in anger and sad look

The next day

Conan gets up and see that he fell asleep sitting next to Shinichi's hand. He remember that Ran will have a check up so he brush his teeth in the bathroom and run toward the examination room, as he arrives he sees Ran is being check up and he sees both Eri and Kogoro in different clothes

"Conan-kun… you are here all night?" asked Eri surprised seeing Conan's clothes is still the same as yesterday without the blazer
"Um… I was looking after Shinichi-niichan. I can't leave him after all" said Conan in sad voice
"I'm sure he will get up soon"
"Um..."

After check up and stuffs, Ran is moved toward her room. Eri, Kogoro and Conan gets out from the room and leave the Chiba to guard Ran's room. Three of them are now at Shinichi's room who still in Coma, Sonoko arrives also to visit Shinichi

"Shinichi-kun…" said Sonoko looking at Shinichi
"Niichan… hasn't change since yesterday" said Conan while holding his hand in worried

Kogoro look at Shinichi who seems to let out sad look that he never shows before. Well since Shinichi did save Ran's life so he's in debt of him but he didn't want anyone to know especially Conan. Conan then faces Sonoko, Kogoro and Eri

"Sonoko-neechan, Ojiisan, Eri-obaasan… Until Ran-neechan get her memory back, don't tell her about Shinichi-niichan also in the toilet at Sato-keiji shooting case" said Conan serious
"Eh?!" said all of them surprised
"But what if Ran ask about him when he found his pictures? Would it be strange that Shinichi suddenly nowhere to be seen" asked Sonoko
"Just tell Ran-neechan that Shinichi-niichan is away for a case. Just precaution for her not to remember fully about the fact that not only she think it's her fault that Sato-keiji got shot but also the fact that Shinichi-niichan was there protecting her… for her mental health and I don't want Ran-neechan to get more pain than this"

Both Kogoro and Eri look at each other and then they nod to him as an agreement even though it is bad enough to lie to Ran about it but Conan have point so they didn't argue much.

Time Skip~

It's been few days since the incident, Ran's condition is still the same and also is Shinichi. The detective boys are now at the hospital visiting Ran. Although they already introduce themselves but she still can't remember

"Then, do you remember me? I'm Agasa Hiroshi, you know the brilliant scientist who lives next door to your childhood friend, Kudou Shinichi" said Professor Agasa unknowing the situation
"Baka!" thought Conan worried

"Kudou… Shinichi?" asked Ran surprised hearing his name
"You don't remember him?" asked Ayumi slowly
"No, I don't" said Ran smiling

"Oi Conan, should Shinichi-san be here?" asked Mitsuhiko
"A-aahh… he have a case out of town and not be back for while" said Conan acting
"Cih, at the time like this he have a case" said Genta who seems didn't like hearing Conan statement
"Hahaha… can't be helped, he's a detective"

Haibara notice that Conan seems to be tighten his fist under his pockets and drag him away from them quietly so they can secretly talk without anyone hearing it

"What's wrong?" asked Haibara
"Actually…"

Conan tell Haibara everything of what happen at the hotel and the fact that Shinichi is in Coma. Ran look at both Haibara and Conan talking together

"Nee, why do you ask Conan-kun about Kudou Shinichi?" asked Ran to Mitsuhiko
"Ahh… Shinichi-san and Conan-kun are brothers"
"Brothers? But why he always with me?"
"That's because if Shinichi-oniisan is away for a case, Conan-kun will always stay at Ran-oneesan's house until Shinichi-oniisan back" said Ayumi explaining happily
"Since Conan's parents are in overseas after all and both you and Tantei-niichan are very close" said Genta smiling
"I see…" said Ran in low voice

"Ah re? but why Conan-kun hasn't told Ran-oneesan yet" said Ayumi confused in low voice
"Maybe he doesn't want to pressure Ran-san memories" whisper Mitsuhiko
"Ah I see!"

After Conan finish telling Haibara, Haibara just smile and pat Conan's shoulder to be strong suddenly she sense someone and look behind her

"What's wrong Haibara?" asked Conan
"It's feels like someone staring at us just now" said Haibara serious
"Eh?!"

Both of them look around can't find anyone. Conan became serious and then told Haibara to tell Professor Agasa about this so he didn't talk too much about his brother

On the other side

Kogoro, Eri and Takagi are looking at Ran from afar without them noticing

"Nee Takagi-kun, you were near Shinichi-kun's room right?" asked Eri
"Yes, is there something wrong?" asked Takagi surprised
"Well, did Conan-kun stay there the whole time without getting home?"
"Yeah, he always sit by Kudou-kun side the whole time. He even sleep in sitting position and I will always the one who bought food for him. To be honest, I'm worried for him but he seems very determined to stay until Kudou-kun wakes up"
"That kid is indeed Kudou Shinichi's little brother" said Eri serious while looking at Conan

Takagi look that Eri seems worried for Conan

"Uhh... you seems really fond with Conan-kun" asked Takagi
"Well that boy is Shinichi-kun's little brother and I know about him from his mother when he was still living at LA. He also much nicer and cuter than Shinichi-kun when he was little" said Eri smiling
"But he still have that cockiness from his big brother" said Kogoro

Time Skip~

Kogoro, Eri and Conan are now at the doctor's room to see the result of Ran's check up. Kazato said that Ran's amnesia is really cause by saving herself from mental trauma. Kogoro then almost want to make Ran to see the hotel and recreate the incident so that Ran can remember but Eri hates the idea since it will trigger Ran's mental trauma

Conan became serious after hearing the doctor explanation and it's for the best that Ran don't remember what happen in short time especially about his brother.

"Doctor, is there a way to restore Ran-neechan's memories naturally?" asked Conan
"Well it is for the best that she's relaxed, it's common for people to remember something in relax state"
"I understand, when Ran's check out, I'm living at the office" said Eri to Kogoro
"What?! You only stressed me more!" shout Kogoro didn't like the idea
"I don't care about you, it's for Ran's sake!"

Conan who sees it can hardly imagine how Kogoro's situation will be like which he can only give a good luck to him. After they got out from the doctor's room, they go to Ran's room and see that she's still asleep. Conan sit on the sofa while looking at his phone until suddenly Eri faces him

"Conan-kun… Can I ask a favor from you?" asked Eri
"What is it Eri-obaasan?"
"After Ran check out, can you also stay with us for a while?"
"Eh?"

Kogoro who heard it surprised and seems didn't like Eri's idea

"Oi oi why we have to take him too?!" asked Kogoro unhappy
"Shinichi-kun already done many things for Ran and you. The least we can do is to take care Conan-kun until Shinichi-kun is back, not to mention, I'm sure Ran can be more open to him than us" said Eri looking sad
"But… I-" said Conan but interrupted by Eri
"Conan-kun, you barely eat and take care of yourself ever since the incident. If I don't force this mustache old man to get some of your clothes, you would have been using that clothes until today. I'm sure the police detectives and doctor here can look after him. Okay?"

Conan was unsure by Eri's favor and it's because she knows how unhealthy he is now ever since Shinichi's in Coma. So he have no choice to nod since he also want to help Ran to get better but still heavy to leave Shinichi in the hospital alone

"Maybe I can get more information about the case..." thought Conan serious
