Hey, everyone! This semester is finally over. Hopefully I can post more chapters and stories during winter break. Please let me know how you like the story so far. Happy reading ;)
Chapter 10: Going After Zixx
"I can't believe we let him get away!" Raphale shouted, slamming his fist into the wall. "That orb was our only chance of contacting Mikey, and we let Zixx run off with it!"
Serling sighed at Raphael's action. "Could you please try not to break something for once?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, Mr. Perfectionist!" Raph rolled his eyes. "But I'm not exactly in a non-breaking-things mood!"
Cody stood in between them. "We couldn't have possibly known what was going to happen with Zixx here. You shouldn't blame yourself."
"No, I agree with Raph," Leo spoke up. "We let Zixx slip through our fingers and our only chance of seeing Mikey again is now gone! We failed...I failed!"
Leo turned to the door to leave, but Splinter stood in his way.
"Leonardo. Your anger towards Zixx is understandable, but you must not give up so easily. Perhaps there is another way."
"There is no way!" Leo shook his head. "It's over!" then he left, followed by Raphael. Both needed to cool their heads. Splinter sighed and left the room as well.
Donnie was by the computer just as angry as his brothers, but he was internally screaming. He glared at the screen. Cody hesitated, but he decided to approach the tech Turtle. He pulled up a chair beside him.
"It's okay. I'm sure if we work together, we can find another way to get Mikey back."
Donatello said nothing and began working, his fingers typing rapidly across the keyboard. Cody wasn't sure if he was trying to find a way to cope with his frustration and anger, or if he was trying to find something else that could help them find Mikey again. Cody placed a hand over his, causing the Turtle to look up.
"You can scream or yell if you want, Donnie."
"Even if I did, it's not going to help Mikey." Donnie then ruffled Cody's hair with a small smile. "We may yet have another chance to get that orb back."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because before Zixx escaped, I had the chance to slip a tracker on him. I'm tracking him now."
Cody smiled and stood up to leave. "That's great, Donnie! We should tell the others!"
Donnie grabbed his arm and shook his head. "We can't tell Leo or Raph. They're not thinking clearly. If they go after Zixx, they may end up doing more damage than good. I'm going after Zixx."
"Can you handle him by yourself?" Cody asked, uncertain. Donnie's gauntlet showed a virtual map and a small red target was moving across town, most likely Zixx.
"Well, I could use some help. Think you can handle it, little ninja?"
"You mean you want me to go with you? Sweet!"
"Absolutely not!" Serling stood in between them. "Master Cody's life has been in danger multiple times because of you reckless creatures. I'll not let him go on some dangerous mission that puts him in the path of a bounty hunter!"
"But, Serling.."
"You would be much safer here, Master Cody," Serling insisted. "Frankly, I'm surprised that Zixx character didn't run off with you in addition to that useless orb."
Donatello grinned. "You know, Serling. I think you just gave me an idea. That, and you're outvoted. Cody's coming with me."
"Are you trying to tighten my circuits?!"
"If you're so worried, why don't you come with?" Donnie offered. "You are practically his body guard now, right?" He chuckled as he playfully punched Serling's shoulder.
"He makes a good point," Cody agreed. Serling rubbed his head with a hopeless sigh.
"Why wasn't I created for something less functional than a personal assistant?"
