Hey guys, well it is literally a week until Christmas and I am so excited. It is my favourite time of the year.
I know this year has been the worst year ever and who knows what 2021 has in store for us, but I will continue to write for you guys.
Anyway here is the next chapter. ENJOY!
My eyes slowly fluttered open the next morning. I look up and see it was midday. I stretch out and notice there was a body next to me. I slowly look up towards it and my heart calmed when I saw it was Lucas. Oh right he put me to bed. He is such a good guy. Last night came to me and I remember everything especially Julian acting like the ass he has become.
I slowly pull back the covers and get out of bed trying not to wake him. I dress into cheer shorts and a t-shirt before heading downstairs. Oh god what a mess. I grab my phone and call the cleaning crew who got here in less than 20 minutes.
I walk into the kitchen and grab a carton of orange juice and a glass from the cabinet. I pour myself some and decide to make pancakes. I love how I don't get hangovers.
"Brooke" I turn and see Lucas walking into the kitchen. He smiles as he rubs his head "hi"
"Good morning Luke" I smile back "pancakes?"
He nods "chocolate if possible please"
"Sure" I make both of us pancakes and we sit at the dining table to eat.
"Brooke you alive to the world yet?" I hear Peyton call out.
"Down the hall" I call back "orange juice Luke?" he nods so I poured him some.
"Well good morning you two" Rachel says walking into the room with the girls"
"Morning girls" Lucas waves in-between bites "glad ya'll got home okay"
"Thank you making sure we had rides Lucas" Haley says.
"No worries"
"So we were thinking we could go to the summer fair tonight about 5ish" Peyton says take a grape from the fruit bowl on the island.
"Sounds fun" I nod taking my finished plate to the sink and washing it up "Luke want to join? Oh bring Lily she'll love it. Her friend can come too"
"Who's Lily?" Rachel asked.
"My sister" Lucas answers
"She is a big Ravens fan so an instant like" I state and Lucas laughed taking his finished plate to the sink and washing it up.
"Okay well we'll leave you guys to your day. Meet at 5 in town?"
"Okay see you guys then" the three of them nodded and walked down the corridor to leave.
"You like fairs right?" I ask once the girls had left. Lucas nods "good because I'm glad you're coming with"
"Me too"
After we chilled on the sofa watching films Lucas went home. It was so nice to hang out with him. We didn't kiss or have sex we just chilled together watching movies. Sometimes that is nice. He took my number so we could communicate better about things.
I sat in my room for a little while before getting ready for the fair. I wore a white flowy top with dark blue jeans and a white pair of sneakers. I branded my hair to the side and over my shoulder pinning back my fringe with bobby pins. I texted Lucas and told him to meet me and the others at the fair entrance.
I grab my car keys and head over to the fair site. I park up near the entrance and see Rachel, Haley and Peyton all talking outside the entrance. Nathan and Jake were there too.
"Hey guys" I join the group "we are just waiting for..."
"Brooke" I got interrupted when Lily ran over "hi"
"Hey Lily" she gives me a hug "this is my new friend Kadie"
"It's short for Kadence" Kadie says and I nod.
"Where's Luke?" Lily pointed to the blue eyed blond walking towards us.
"You are so slow Luke" Lily groans rolling her eyes.
"I'm not slow just didn't fancy running" Lucas states "hi Brooke" he gave me a smile.
"Hey Luke"
"Okay okay everyone say hi to everyone so we can go in now" Haley whined.
We all followed her to the entrance and into the fair and spent 10 minutes looking around at all the stalls.
"Okay so who wants to go on what?" Rachel asked
"The saucers first" I say pointing to the spinning cups.
"How did I know you were gonna say that" Peyton rolled her eyes "every time"
"Then you shouldn't be surprised Sawyer" I poke my tongue out at her.
"Saucers it is"
"Those went so fast" Lily says laughing as we get out of our saucer and head to the exit.
"Faster every time" I comment "what's next?"
"The roller coaster" Rachel beamed a smile at me.
"Okay let's go" Haley says taking Nathan's hand and we follow to the line.
"Thank you for coming" I say to Lucas as we stand in line "you didn't have to"
"Well apparently Lily's new friend mentioned it to her so we were coming anyways, but I would have come. I like hanging out with you" he smiles down at me making my stomach fluttered with butterflies.
"I like hanging out with you too" we get to the front of the line.
"Brooke we're next" I look from Lucas to Rachel "you okay?" I nod.
"You don't like rides?" Lucas asked looking worried
"Not high ones" I reply "but I'll be okay. It's not my first time"
"Sit next to me and you'll be fine" he says "I promise"
"That. Was. Awesome." Lily says as we get off the ride
"Brooke you okay?" Rachel asked seeing the look on my face
I nod "yeah I'm fine"
"Lets spilt up for an hour" Haley suggested pulling on Nathan's hand "meet by the tea cups in an hour. Have fun" she winked at me and ran off with Nathan.
"oh greeeat" Rachel sighs crossing her arms "you lot get to run off with your guys and I'm going to do what huh?"
"You can come with Lucas and me. Right Luke?" Lucas nodded.
"Oh yeah and be third wheel with lover boy"
"He isn't my lover boy" I rolled my eyes "now you coming or not"
"Rachel can come with us" Lily says "we'll have fun. Come Rachel" Lily says. Rachel nodded and went off with Lily.
"Is it me or does everyone want us to be alone?" Lucas questioned when we were alone.
"That obvious huh?"
"Just a little" Lucas and I laughed "should we go on the wheel?" I nod and we head over to the line.
Once we got to the front of the line and then onto the wheel. Lucas pulled the bar down locking us in and then the ride started.
"So Lily is great" I say starting the conversation "it's cool how you guys are only a year apart"
"Yeah" he nods agreeing with me "we've always been so close growing up" I nod "you an only child?" I nod again.
"My Mom wasn't the mother type. I was an accident, but she doesn't believe in abortion so she had me even though she didn't want to and then I was given a golden card from an early age and my Nanny brought me up"
"That sounds awful"
"I mean do I wish I had a proper family like most people of course, but I don't dwell on it anymore. I learned to live with it"
"And your dad, where is he?" he asked as we got to the top.
I looked out at the view above tree hill. It was so pretty. A slight wind blew past us "he erm...he died when I was three. I don't really remember him much, but I know he wanted me and was good to me until his accident"
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that Brooke"
"Its okay. After he died mom basically never came home. She started travelling more for work and I didn't really hear from her. So I've learned to live without her"
"Well I think you're doing a pretty good job getting on with it Brooke" he gave me a smile and then leaned in and pressed his lips softly on mine. My cheeks flushed as he pulled away.
The ride came to and end as I slowly opened my eyes again smiling back at him. The bar lifted above our heads and Lucas helped me off.
The rest of the evening was pretty much so much fun. Lucas and I took pictures in the funny funky photo booth and then we went on the water boat ride and then on another ride before meeting everyone else back at the tea cups.
Lucas walked me back to my car. It was a nice comfortable walk. We stop at my car and I take my keys out my bag.
"I had a good time tonight" I say looking at him "thank you for being such good company"
"No thank you Brooke. It's been really nice hanging out with you lately. I've had so much fun" My cheeks flushed "drive safely" he then leaned in and I closed the gap kissing him. My heart fluttered and my stomach began to knot. He then pulls away again "drive safe" I nod and unlock my car. Lucas opens my car door for me. I get in and wave as I pull out the parking lot and drive home.
I think I'm beginning to like him. And I mean like like him. Is it too soon for that? Would I be rebounding so soon? Oh god I don't know. Thoughts for another time I suppose. Let's just get home safe and I did.
