The Next Day

"You know they'll think you're a psychic, goth girl!" Harry teased his companion.

Kenzi smiled devastatingly, "And...whose to say I'm not. I can make it look like I'm reading minds."

"Wait...don't' tell me you didn't learn mentalism?" he said leaning forward.

"Yes and no, I mean yes I can do that, but that's not why I learned the skills. Sometimes it was easier to read what the mark wanted and tell that to them than actually do a scry, I've been doing that shit since I was eight years old honey"

"Ahh, you are my goddess!" Harry announced with a wide smile.

"Urh...Harry" Penny said, smiling slightly, he was with Kady and oddly enough Alice, this was an odd confluence of personalities to be together because they didn't actually get on that well. "Whose your friend."

"Oh guys, come meet Kenzi...she's amazing" Harry smiled, "Don't look now, but she's not actually a student" he said in a stage whisper.

"I could be, if I wanted."

"I could probably get you in here if you were you know...actually interested" Harry smirked. "The Dean owes me one."

"Nah...me and school never did mix that well, don't get me wrong I ruled that shit heap, but actual grades…" she shivered, "I was very good at getting out of detention though."

"Oh really" Kady said with a smirk.

"NO...not that"Kenzi laughed, "Well...not always that."

Kady smiled widely, sitting next to her while Penny took the seat next to Harry.

Harry smiled at how Kady was reacting to Kenzi, but then he rather admired the woman, in his short association he'd come to like her a hell of a lot actually, she was pervasive like that, grew on you quickly and then you were caught forever he was sure.

"So..what'd I miss?"

"On your 'business trip'" Penny remarked dryly looking at Kenzi meaningfully.

"Ahh, she followed me home, so I kept her." Harry smirkingly replied.

"Oh no honey, I kept you and only on a lease" Kenzi shot back, barely pausing in her discussion on the relative merits of head and its use to get out of trouble.

""Either way, fill me in man" Harry smiled.

"Nothing, a big fat fuck all" Penny said with feeling, "Classes were unusually boring theory and for a change Q ain't got himself into trouble."

"Huh, oddly peaceful then."

"I dunno...oh I did wake up in Dubai so there's that?"

"Wait! Way to bury the lead, back up...what the fuck?"

"Ahh apparently I'm this Traveller thing, mostly they warned me NOT to use it, some guy came up to me and told me to lock my astral form so that's the only way I could travel."

"Urh...what did you say."

"I thought about it, but Kady dissuaded me, she's kinda more your way of thinking, it's a gift and I should learn the hell out of it."

"Okay, I tend to agree, but this is your thing mate, what do YOU think."

Penny smiled "I think you're both right. But I know you can do your own form of travel."

"Urh...how"

"Saw you arrive once."

"Oh...my bad" Harry chuckled, "Okay, I can teach you how I do it, you'll even be able to use it, you think it might even if theoretically, help with your thing."

"Apparently I can go literally anywhere, I'd like to know how to navigate and I figure most forms of travel use some form of navigation and most are applicable across the board."

"Good thinking mate, I'll definitely do that for you."

Penny smiled, "I knew I could count on you Harry."

"For sure mate." Harry nodded, "When do you want to start."

"As soon as man, I don't want to keep waking up all over the damned world. I ain't even SURE how they got me back in some rickety old van."

Harry smiled, "Those were suppose to be for medical emergencies, but I suppose it counts"

"Ahh...your infirmary duties." Penny nodded sagely.

"It's why I'm here, in this place" Harry said, "And it has to be said, I'm learning a tonne."

"Good, good, difficult branch of magic by all accounts, but obviously worthy of the effort. Healing man, it's a noble thing."

"Far more noble than what I tend to end up doing" Harry said ruefully.

"Sounds like you and up saving a lot of lives, that's kinda the same thing, sure you have to kill sometimes but won't a doctor cut to save a patient?"

Harry smiled, "I've always enjoyed your clarity Pen."

"That's not what most people call it" Penny snorted.

"Screw 'em"

"Yeah, damn right!" Penny smiled.

Harry's Apartment, New York

That Night

"You want me to do WHAT now?" Harry said looking at Kenzi intently.

"You heard me" Kenzi smirked. "Your zingy sense of humour not counted there's nothing much wrong with ya."

"But I've never been there, how do you expect me to get there...tonight and save this person?"

"Yeah...that bugs me actually. You are always talking about how important Intent is. How you even use it teleporting, but you need to know where to go to get the intent to get there?"

"That's how it works."

"Does it?" Kenzi said eyeing him seriously, "You ever tried ignoring where you're going and thinking about the INTENT of where you want to end up instead. Screw WHERE it is, let magic do that, look to WHY, not HOW."

Harry studied her a long moment, then surprised her by kissing her passionately then leaving her bleary eyed and smiling as he just disappeared on the spot. "Huh...I guess he hadn't" she said to herself.

Beacon Hills, California

Early Evening

Harry appeared and a fight started, this wasn't that unusual in his experience, in fact he had started numerous fights when he appeared somewhere personally just to keep his hand in. This time it was a bunch of late teenaged good looking types against demonic ninja. This also wasn't as odd to Harry as it might b to most. He didn't actually react for a moment, surveying what was happening, trying to figure out WHY.

One teenaged looking guy was hanging way back, seemingly directing what had to be Oni, from behind safe lines. Harry hated that sort of commander. Also there was a rather cloying darknesses that choked Harry's finely tuned senses for such. He wasn't TRUE evil, but he was very very bad. Old too, not by Harry's standards but by anything sane...yeah, old.

Harry was tempted to take the fight to him, but he was NOT here for that. In fact he had a very simple order from general Kenzi to save a life, just one life. Apparently it was important he did, for the future of not only the poor girl fated to day WAY young, but for him and even the Avengers.

Honestly she was nifty with a Bow, perhaps even as good as Clint, but...they had Clint. The man just didn't EVER miss. He was also a battle hardened trained and experienced SHIELD agent, and top tier at that, truly elite. But, he had decided to let Kenzi into his life and therein he had to therefore trust her seer skills.

He got close, hiding easily from the battle distracted teens and even easier from the far to focal point demons. If he got a chance he was taking them out for starters, not all demons where bad, but general rule of thumb meant he didn't really not kill in circumstances such as this. He'd heard they were unkillable, and then the brunette with her hair in a bun pulled a new arrow, notched and let fly and this was rather neatly disproven.

The battle field paused, the entire Oni contingent turned to her and fear crept up on her rather beautiful face, it had been impressively focused and calm, cool precision before that. But she was quite young and facing truly dangerous warriors, ALL of them. The one nearest to her brought back his Katana, they were not designed for it, but it appeared he was going to stab her, right in the heart. The chisel tip would penetrate if he didn't do something.

He ran, he ran like the wing, the battle combatants looking like statues around him, even the faster moving Oni were still to his perception, no one had time to see a damned thing before he just seemed to suddenly APPEAR right in front of the girl. He did the one thing he knew would save her, he bared his chest, knowing that if the blade was enchanted it would penetrate even the impressive armour of his dragon skin coat. But also knowing there was a slim chance it would kill him and every likelihood it would her. The blade went through the incredibly tough hide of his coat like cutting silk, and Harry barely grimaced as he felt the blade slide into him, and right out the other side. But he'd been ins such positions a positive litany of times. So he greatly surprised the usually implacable demon by trapping the blade IN his own body, then slamming his fist at near the speed of sound into the Oni's face plate. He felt something behind it, nothing much felt almost like an insect, so he grabbed it and pulled his arm back, even as he started to choke on his own blood.

The Oni just sagged down into a pile of clothes. He looked around with a burning emerald gaze his eyes bright with power. They could die, and it wasn't even HARD, as he'd told Julia he rarely used his magic on a battle field, it was the very definition of over kill in most situations and usually when he turned to it the scales were literally cosmic. This time he had little choice. But it really wasn't anything more flashy or complicated than a summoning spell, he summoned the fire flies OUT of the Oni with enough power their face plates were smashed from the inside out, and all five now of the Oni sagged into a pile of empty Gi.

He staggered a little, he already knew this wasn't the magic event, perhaps knew there was no such thing for him. But that didn't' mean he wasn't badly hurt. He'd need time to heal for sure, but right now, right now he had a damsel. He turned, giving her what would usually be an outright devastating smile, but thanks to his wound it was bloody and a little scary instead. This didn't seem to deter the picture definition of brunette beauty though as she rushed to him and ducked under his arm. She helped take his weight as there was an irritated snarl from where the leader had been and then a sense he was gone. That was fine by Harry, he COULD fight like this, even keep on going LIKE nothing had happened, but...something HAD happened. And while evolved his body was still human and he was very injured. "Pull it out" he said looking into the pretty eyes of his damsel.

"I can't you'll bleed to death." she said looking into his eyes with worry.

He gave her a confident if bloody smile, "I can't heal either, the blade is stopping me from doing that. I WILL heal, and pretty fast, but not while its in there. I can do it myself, but it'll hurt a lot less if you do it from your angle."

She searched his eyes, blushing a little, "Okay" she said finally.

"Thank you" he said then stood proud, "Go on...it's fine, I need this I promise. I didn't come all this way to dye in your arms."

She blushed again, then took the handle, then with a hard long pull she unsheathed four foot of Japanese steel out his chest.

HE coughed up some blood a literal bodily reaction but wiped it away with annoyance. "This is annoying, do you have any idea how hard it is to get blood off this coat!" he said, then shot her a smile.

She laughed, then looked shocked she had. Then she looked down like she was ashamed she had.

Harry tipped her back to meet his eyes, "Hey...if I didn't want the laugh I wouldn't make the crack, say...what's your name beautiful?"

"You saved my life and you don't even know my name"

"I wasn't given much detail" Harry admitted. "Be there, save the girl, you know that's about it."

"Well...mission apparently accomplished and I'm Allison, Allison Argent."

"It's a rare pleasure to meet you Allison."

"Rare?"

"Your beauty I of a rare type, you're not even hardly wearing make up either, you my dear are a true blue brunette beauty. If I remember being a teenager and trust me I do. I bet the other girls aren't so nice to you. My best friend, she was the same, though she just suddenly seemed to become one overnight," He chuckled, "And the other girls did NOT like that she was so...effortless in her beauty, she barely wore make up either, lipstick sometimes, never anything else, like foundation or the other potions and concoctions some of the others did. They hated her for it, and the fact she never TRIED, she just WAS."

Allison smiled self consciously, "So your best friend was a girl?"

"Yep" he said proudly

"Shame" she said a little flirtatiously.

"Oh?" he said confused.

"Beautiful man, beautiful clothes that actually fit and match, and best friend is a girl...gotta be gay."

Harry laughed, "That's a poor assumption to make don't you think?"

"No, more proven with embarrassing situations" She shot back.

"I am not gay, despite the clothes, and the friend who is a girl. I've heard it before though so I'll forgive you this time" he chucked, working his hand to his heart and pressing hard, "Give me a...AH! Sec...phew, been while since I was stabbed in the heart." he reminisced.

"This happen enough that it's been awhile?" she asked.

"Oh yeah, I am always jumping in front of beautiful girls who just happen to be fighting demonic ninja right out of Japanese folk lore." he said with a much clearer smile.

She laughed again, "I have a feeling that's not as much of a joke as you made it sound."

"I do have a way of meeting damsels. But this time I was actually sent, right here, for you."

"I am NOT a damsel" she said with a flash of her eyes.

Harry held up his free hand, "Nothing bad meant by it, but it is the commonly accepted term for these sorts of situations, and I saw you kicking ass with that bow when I arrived, I know you're a bad ass Allison."

She nodded, "Good"

"You shouldn't be so sensitive, it shows that it bothers you, this is clearly a sore point, someone made you feel that way recently, don't let them have the satisfaction of knowing it got to you." he said softly.

"He was just trying to protect me...again"

Harry smiled, "Ahh...young love"

"Yeah, because you're so long in the tooth" Allison cracked wise.

Harry grinned at her no blood there this time.

"You really are healing as we stand here and flirt."

"Who's flirting? I'm not flirting with jail bait, no siree" he said with a grin.

"I'm not"

"Huh"

"Jail bait" she said with a bewitching smile.

"Oye" he said with feeling, "That's me in trouble, mind you I could just run now. My deed is done after all, one seer given save carried out as prescribed, well...she didn't tell me I'd get stabbed but then she probably knows it just annoys me."

"So you saved my life, because that would do more than annoy me, took a sword for me, I think I should do the same."

Harry's eyes widened. Then he smirked, "You'd be surprised how often I hear that."

She looked him up and down, "No...no I really wouldn't. Honestly I just want to do this, this is just a good excuse."

Harry laughed, until she held out her hand, "Well?" she said lifting a brow, for the first time with a choice he was actually going to do it when suddenly a good looking older guy rushed to Allison and swept her in his arms, "Oh god, oh god, I nearly Lost you!"

Allison had a rather 'oh damn' look on her face. Harry chuckled, "Saved by the bell" he said low but she heard him and smirked over her fathers shoulder at him. Her dark eyes alight with sexual humour.

"It's okay dad, I'm fine, He saved me, what WAS your name?"

"Harry" he replied.

Chris Argent turned and pumped Harry's hand strongly, "Thank you, Thank you!"

Harry smiled, "Just doing my part to keep the world a better place."

Chris half smiled, not getting it but Allison did and blessed him with a smile. "You...are getting checked over. And you...how are you not dead?" he said suddenly turning to Harry.

"Oh I'm a self healing robot" Harry said, "Must now return to base and recharge… go about your business, clear the way citizens."

"Hey!" Allison said before Harry could high tail it away.

"Yeah?" Harry asked with a small smile.

"Cell number...now!" she said with feeling.

Harry smiled, reaching into his inside pocket he handed over a rather bloody card, it even had a mark where the Katana had pierced it on the way to his heart. "Oh urh...they're probably all like that, so...call it a keep sake." Harry said, turning on a heel and just disappearing.

"Just when you think you've seen it all" Chris said with feeling, then turned back to Allison, "You...with me NOW!"

"Yes daddy" Allison said, not doing much of a job at hiding the naughty twinkle as she looked at the 'keep sake' and Harry's cell, oh she was CALLING that number, just as soon as she let her father fuss over her. She might well be grounded until graduation, but she had a phone in her room, and that looked like a New York Area code...what the hell?

Harry's Apartment, New York

A Little Later

Harry arrived to the smirking face of Kenzi and he saw a full house of Julia, Marina and somehow Kady had been invited to the 'party'. "You are such a sucker for a pretty face."

"She's a little bit more than pretty" he said.

"Oh I know, I feel like the fat girl at prom next to her" Kenzi said.

"You know I used that expression once in front of a friend of mine, one of the only other truly immortal beings I met, and very wise, much older than me little jaded but she said something I still remember when I said that."

"Colour me curious" Kenzi said with a smirk.

"What a fucking Horrible thing to say Harry, why shouldn't a fat girl be at prom you utter dick." Harry said aping a high class English woman speaking, "I felt about an inch tall, and never said it again."

Kenzi winced, "Yeah...okay even works second hand, but it's JUST an expression."

"Once, so where a lot of expressions that are all but banned from polite conversation now," Harry told her.

"You trying to make me feel bad?"

Harry smiled, "No...but it isn't a nice thing to say, it's evocative I suppose, and anyway it's patently false. Every single woman here are pinnacles of feminine beauty, that doesn't detract from Allison's very great personal beauty, or your equally amazing looks. You women compare too much if you ask me, and looks aren't the be all and end all of being attractive."

"Oh?" Julia said looking around, "Say that again I dare ya, with a straight face, you've told every woman here, including the super in love Kady you find them attractive."

"Yes, and I meant it, but it's not ALL about the way you look. Jane...shes' an attractive woman, not to your guys standards, she is merely attractive, if you want to grade it. But DAMN she's sexy as hell, and wow, a million years with no oral. I'm actually GLAD it was her."

Kenzi blinked, making a note to 'look' that up later. "And you've all got that lovely so called death knell too you know, you might even take it as an insult. You've got a great personality, each and every one of you are just...great. I love spending time with you all, even Marina" he said winking at the woman in question. "You're all super intelligent, but that does seem to be a mark of a magician to my notice, and other than the obvious arrogance about your looks, you're basically good people."

"Arrogance!" Marina hissed like a cat.

Harry looked at her steadily, "Really now...are you seriously telling me you're not even a little arrogant about your beauty? I know I am about my so called looks, the first few times I heard that I honestly wondered what they were on." Harry chuckled, "But you hear something enough, it gets ingrained into your ego. SO I'm not accusing you of anything I'm not guilty of myself here."

Julia sighed, "Yeah...RIGHT" she said with feeling. "You are the least arrogant man I've ever met."

"I assure you about some things I am SUPREMELY Arrogant, of course mostly because I've proven it a hell of a lot of times that I am damned well good at what I do. I'm not even sure Arrogance is the right word, but about the looks I have...proud, I think may be a better word. It makes my heart and head swell especially when you guys say it, and why...because that little bit of looks arrogance tells me that likewise attractive people know that better."

Julia pursed her lips, "Huh...while I follow your train of thought, I'm still not sure I'd ever accuse you of arrogance."

"You hardly know me darling, not yet. We click, we really do but I have a lot of life to share with you yet. There have been periods in my life you probably wouldn't have spat on me when I was on fire."

"We all go through bad bits" Kady said, actually sat fairly close to Marina, so obviously she was softening her position towards the blue eyed magician.

"Yeah, but some of mine lasted thousands o years. OF course, that friend I mentioned. IF she caught wind I was misbehaving...whoo boy she'd come sort me RIGHT out. I am WAY more powerful than her, seriously I could nuke her into oblivion and yet...she's probably the only person I am...was, afraid of."

"I wish I could meet her."

"Sadly I got word she finally checked out, she stayed in a lot longer than many so called immortals, but eventually something got her. Strictly speaking she wasn't a true immortal, but her body evolved, much like mine did, she got GOOD at staying alive. If I knew what got her though…" he went dangerous, and dark. Then shook it off, "Shortly after that I realised I had nothing left to stay for."

"Friend?" Julia asked.

"Seriously our relationship...you can't define it in mortal terms Jules. Sure, we hooked up a lot even, I loved her like crazy and I THINK she loved me back, but...I dunno how to explain it to you guys, and I don't want to be insulting here but some thing's just come with age and experience."

"That is the first time I FELT like you were as old as you make out" Marina chuckled.

Harry grinned boyishly at her.

"And there it went" she added rolling her eyes.

Harry's Place, Manhattan, N. Y.

Later

Julia slipped out on to the balcony, needless to say the view was...better before the invasion. Kenzi was leaning on the rail staring out at the city, the lights reflecting very attractively in her eyes. It was a close run battle for her who had the best eyes, Marina's were just SO blue, but Kenzi had to be pretty damned unique. But more importantly she had a feeling she and Kenzi would be close. And Kenzi was missing her BFF in a strange city doing something prescribed by her higher power seer connection to the future. S he'd stuck her neck out to be here and Julia admired that courage.

"Hey" Julia said softly, slipping up beside Kenzi, they were of a similar height and stuck quite the sight, the two highly attractive women with the wind playing with the hair and the city reflecting in beautiful eyes and lighting well carved facial structure in high and low lights.

"You seem troubled, can I help?" Julia outright offered.

Kenzi smiled, "That's kind, but unfortunately only a series of events will help me here."

"So…" She said slowly, "You're falling for him?"

Kenzi chuckled, "It's a bit soon to be saying that."

"In my own way I fell when I saw him arrive." Julia said, "Took a HELL of a leap on a feeling, only to have him prove me right to do so at EVERY single turn. Men, and me...outside of Q who even then had nursed a crush on me for YEARS. It always goes a certain way. Harry broke the mould."

"You've as much as admitted you like him that way." Kenzi noted without being accusing.

"I don't' think many women wouldn't be physically attracted to Harry. There's more there too, his innate power for one, which like it or not, turns us on."

Kenzi chuckled, "I feel like you're leading me certain path here."

"Just talking Kenz, I'm not trying to trick you into anything. I feel like you and I could be good friends with the stipulations I already mentioned. I'd love to be your friend, but for Harry, you hurt him I'll roast you over a slow fire on a spit."

Kenzi chuckled, "Good"

"He is very special, it's not just anything with him, it's the combination. It's amazingly alluring."

"The Fae were all totally convinced he's a Fae and more over an Incubus."

"Maybe, but I doubt it. I've read out those, I have some access to Harry's system, there's a lot of research about all forms of magical sentients, they fascinated him for the longest time, I think they still do. Perhaps because in some ways he IS one. His birth race sound like a bunch of evil shits, but for all that they turned out one truly stellar example didn't they."

"I think the life he's led did a lot to form the Harry of today that's so...yeah okay alluring and attractive. But I also think that the Fae aren't totally wrong, I think maybe he IS a fae, but I don't think he's anything they've seen before either, I think he's something either new, or VERY, VERY old. Close to an Incubus, some of the same skills, and believe you me, that man is TOO damned good in bed. I get experience, I get practice makes perfect, but…" she smiled, "Out of body experience, I already knew I didn't want to just go once, then this all kicked back in and I knew there and then I had to make the offer at least. That night, got a pretty stern warning, that's what I'm musing about out here."

"Warning?"

"Not particularly clear, but soon, very soon we'll change the way we look at Harry, and not in a bad way, but we'll learn something that will change the game, and someone, maybe even you will start a relationship, not just the fucking me and him do. But...that thing we learn, they learn too and after that things open up."

"I will not risk what I have for what could be, no matter how good that could be. But this woman, she had BETTER realise I own a part of that man, and I will NEVER let anyone take him away from me."

Kenzi looked at her glaring out at the night, smiling softly, "That sounds a lot like love."

"Oh I do love that man," Julia said, "I truly do. But In Love...that's different, I do know he's super important, irreplaceable important. I can't lose him, the part I have that's mine...no one is taking that from me, and god save them if they hurt him, because it' would need to be to save them from me. DO I sound like a school girl with a crush...maybe. I do love my boyfriend you know, same boyfriend since early days of college, he's a good man, he's handsome and kind and treats me amazingly nearly all the time. He'd dodgy about Harry, and between us if he forces me to choose"

"He'll loose?" Kenzi said surprised.

"In a fucking heartbeat. No it's not romantic….could it be, maybe and it'd be EPIC." Julia said,"But so is this and its the best thing I've ever had, especially with a man. My dad...he's not BAD, not abusive for sure, but super old fashioned who expected me to be some stay at home housewife...that he is for sure, and tried to 'enforce' that. It worked on my sister, me...not so much. I learned I could only trust Q, despite his crush when it came to men, then I have to admit despite why he did it, he did somewhat break that trust just before I met Harry." Julia said in a soft tone. "I know he wants me. He's got amazing self control, but...well I...pushed, sat in his lap, wriggled, showed a bit more than I would normally, you know the sort of thing you usually do to snare a man. He liked what he saw, and damned if I didn't like him liking it, but there and then I stopped, I could've turned in that moment, kissed him and he would've fucked me silly, for sure that would have happened. But the next day...the awkward next morning shit, the fact I used my body to trick a man I fucking ADORE...I knew I could do it. I have thoughts, I'm not immune to that man any more than you guys are, even Kady who is honestly falling head over heels for this Penny of hers would do it don't you think?"

"I do actually"

"See, but I am not in the same position either, it'd just be sex, you'd brush it under the carpet...well not you miss casual smart woman. But me, it would be more, have to be more and then I'd fuck up, and I'd lose him, lose the already incredible relationship with a man that has opened the leers and cogs of the universe and taught me to use them to do...well, basically anything. I can't, I just can't. But protect him, damned right I will."

Kenzi smiled, shifting over and hooking an arm around Julia's slender waist. "Wow, you needed to get that out huh?"

Julia looked at her, then burst into laughter.
