Atem woke up to the an empty bed.
"Huh? Riley?" Atem asked startled sitting up looking around.
There was no answer but there was a note on her nightstand. Atem walked, and read it.
"Dear Atem, Sorry I'm not here when you wake up. Declan wanted me to go to LID today and I took Ashley with me. I'll see you later. Love, Riley.
P.S. Depending on how today goes..."
the note trailed off there as though Riley decided not to finish writing it.
'Why did..?' Atem thought.
'No idea.' Skull Archfiend of Hope answered.
He walked downstairs to get some breakfast he gives thought about the festival.
'Are you going to be ok?' Chaos King Archfiend asked.
"All I know is that she is with her brother, and that makes me okay." Atem answered.
The archfiends all nodded in understanding.
After breakfast...
Atem walked to check on this festival. He arrived at LID where Declan, Yusho, Henrietta, Yuya, and Riley were talking.
"Hey!" Atem called.
They all turned and Yuya smiled.
"Hey Atem." Yuya called.
"Hey Yuya. You, Wendy, and Zuzu doing okay?" Atem smiled.
"Yeah, Wendy's doing better but she doesn't like bath time with daddy. So Zuzu's taking care of that." Yuya admitted sheepishly.
"Yeah I figured." Atem nodded understanding.
Then he turned to his wife with a smile, "Hey beautiful. Got your note this morning."
He placed a kiss on her forehead.
Riley blushed before whispering to him.
"This... if it's really bad can the three of us cuddle tonight?"
Atem smiled before whispering, "Anything you want."
She smiled and kissed his cheek. Atem smiled before asking, "Where's your father?"
"Setting up Duel Academy." Riley answered.
"Okay." Atem nodded before asking Declan, "So what made you have this idea?"
"We need to make sure the five dimensions remember the horrors of the Dimensional War... in order to avoid repeating it again." Declan answered. "Better to have a controlled recreation annually instead of waiting for another real war."
"Yeah I hear ya." Atem nodded. "So our backstories will be known how? Animatronics? Narrator? Or they read it?"
"That's the thing..." Yuya started awkwardly. "They're not being told what happened... we're showing all of it."
Atem hearing that looked down.
"We don't have to do this Atem, we can stop the whole thing." Yusho told him.
"No. It's alright. It's bad enough I stopped Riley's movie idea... I'm not doing that again." Atem told them.
"Atem..." Riley whispered before turning to Declan. "Cancel it."
"Riley..." Atem said shocked. "But... This festival is important. Just so we can avoid another war from happening."
"We'll figure out something. A way that won't force people to relive the horrible things that happened to them." Riley told him.
Atem turned to the group to see what they think. They all looked understanding about what Riley said. With that Atem nodded, "Okay Riley. Thanks for... Looking out for me."
Riley embraced him. "I just want you to be ok."
Atem hugged her back before knelling in front of her asking the twins, "Hey. You two doing okay this morning?"
He put his hand on her stomach and felt two small kicks. Atem smiled before giving it a small kiss.
"Atem... that tickles." Riley giggled.
He stand up, and smiled "There almost here. How do you feel?"
"Confused." Riley admitted.
"Confused?" Atem asked.
"Happy, scared, anxious, too many emotions to keep straight." Riley explained.
Riley nodded at that.
"Then I suppose you should head home." Declan mentioned. "I'll call the others and explain the situation."
Atem nodded as he patted her shoulder, "Okay."
Atem nodded before saying, "Good to see you all. Even you Mrs. Akaba."
Henrietta frowned at that but just nodded while the others waved goodbye. They waved bye as they walked back home while picking up Ashley.
"... We're really making everything hard for them aren't we?" Riley asked sadly.
"It's not there fault or our's." Atem answered. "We just don't want to relieve the horrible memories that we try our best to forget."
Riley nodded uncertainly. She then feel several soft kicks. Riley smiled and gently put a hand over her stomach.
"They sure are really big aren't they?" Atem smiled as he opened the door.
Riley looked up. "Where are you going?"
"Huh?" Atem asked. "I'm opening the door for us."
"We don't have to go home yet." Riley mentioned. "Unless you want to."
"Where do you want to go?" Atem asked.
Suddenly Riley frowned. "Actually, never mind. Thanks for getting the door."
With that she walked into the house. Atem looked on concerned before walking in, and closed the door asking, "What's wrong?"
Riley didn't say anything for a moment and just looked down before closing her eyes. "Are we bad people Atem?"
"Bad people?" Atem asked.
Riley nodded before looking down sadly. "Declan's right, we have to try and stop another war but we're always the ones who say no. It's our fault."
Atem hugged her, "It's okay. We'll find out someway to. Maybe as a play or something?"
Riley just shook her head. "I just don't know."
Atem kissed her forehead. She just hugged him. Just then she begins to feel another Braxton Hicks. Suddenly her eyes widened as Riley screamed in pain. Atem sat her down, and rubbed her back holding her hand, "Just breath Riley... Breath."
"It hurts... Atem it hurts." Riley cried.
"It will be over in a bit." Atem said to her in a comforting tone rubbing her back.
'Atem... how long does this take again?' Photon Archfiend asked.
"Just one more month." Atem answered. "Then she'll be okay."
'Well she's either using the bathroom, or about to have twins.' Toymaker Archfiend told him.
'It's just a Braxton Hicks.' Atem told him.
Just then the Braxton Hicks ended. Suddenly Riley screamed again.
'No it isn't, get her to a hospital!' Skull Archfiend of Hope shouted.
'Her water hasn't broke yet!' Atem told him.
Riley screamed again.
"It's okay Riley. It will be okay." Atem told her. "Come on I'll get you upstairs."
A few minutes later Riley was calming down.
"Okay. You feeling alright?" Atem asked her.
"I think so." Riley nodded weakly.
"God... I hate seeing you like this." Atem said looking down, "Makes me feel like I can't do anything."
"Stay with me." Riley requested.
"That's a promise from now on." Atem agreed.
Riley leaned her head on him while gently petting Ashley. Atem embraced her before asking, "Well how bout we just go ahead, and cuddle instead of waiting for tonight? We can do it again tonight."
Riley smiled. "Ok."
Atem smiled as they laid down on the bed holding each other close.
"This is nice." Riley smiled.
"You can say that again." Atem smiled to her. "Nothing can ruin this huh?"
Riley shook her head and shifted closer to him. He smiled keeping her close while they both be mindful for Ashley. They just stayed like that for close to an hour. Just then she started to get up. "I need to use the bathroom."
"Ok, we'll be here." Atem smiled.
Riley smiled as she went in.
After using it, and she was washing her hands she suddenly froze feeling something leaving her. Looking down she sees a puddle of water.
Suddenly Ashley started barking.
"Ashley? What's wrong?" Atem asked startled to hear her bark.
She was pawing at the bathroom door. Atem asked, "Riley? Did you make a mess?"
Then the door opened and Riley looked scared.
"Riley? What is it?" Atem asked surprised seeing her scared. "Did something happened?"
"It's time... but we aren't ready."
"Wha... Your water break?" Atem asked shocked. "This early?"
Riley nodded while trembling. Atem walked, and hugged her "It's okay. I'll call the midwife, and we'll get you situated. While we wait you should get on the bed, and try your best to relax."
"I'm scared." Riley whispered.
"I know." Atem said laying her down.
"Atem... I'm sorry." Riley choked out.
"For what?" Atem asked her.
"Causing you so much stress and worry." Riley answered before wincing in pain again.
"Hey I don't mind it all dear." Atem said taking her hand. "Now just try your best to relax. They'll be here soon."
Riley nodded before closing her eyes. With that Atem walked before calling a number.
"Thank you for calling Paradise Hospital, all of our lines are currently busy but if you leave your name and number we'll get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you." stated an automated voice before the line beeped.
'Drat.' Atem thought. "Amber it's Atem. Riley's in labor already, and we need your help. Please come here as quick as you can. Thank you."
He hanged up as he kicked the wall before taking a breath walking upstairs. Riley was trying to relax as Ashley was lying down next to the bed whimpering. Atem walked, and grabbed her hand to help her.
"Atem... thank you." Riley whispered.
"It will be okay." Atem told her. "You need anyone else to come?"
"Who can?" Riley asked.
"Declan, Yuya, Rin, and so on." Atem answered. "You want any of them to come over?"
Riley closed her eyes in thought. "Everybody who can, it's embarrassing but... I need them."
Atem nodded hearing that before walking back to the phone starting with Yuya's cell. As he picked up the phone the doorbell rang. Walking over he answered the door. It was Zuzu and Wendy.
"Uncle Atem, is aunt Riley ok?" Wendy asked. "Daddy says she was sad today."
"Well..." Atem trailed off. "She's having the twins early."
Wendy's eyes widened in shock as Zuzu's jaw dropped.
"What?"
"And there's some bad news. All the hospital lines are busy." Atem told them. "So the midwife can't come here unless she gets notified about it."
Zuzu looked thoughtful before her eyes widened. "Call Rin!"
"Rin?" Atem asked her.
"Don't you remember Atem? Rin helped me and Celina when our daughters were born." Zuzu reminded him.
"O-Oh yeah!" Atem cried before running over to call Rin's number, "Riley's upstairs."
Zuzu nodded before walking up with Wendy. They entered to see Riley was breathing in, and out with closed eyes clearly in pain.
"Aunt Riley!" Wendy cried running to her.
Riley opened her eyes turning to her, "Wendy?"
"It'll be ok Riley." Zuzu reassured her.
"Sorry you two had to see me like this." Riley said wincing again.
"Are you ok?" Wendy asked.
"I'll be okay." Riley smiled to her.
Wendy nodded. "Uncle Atem is calling Aunt Rin so you feel better."
"But... The midwife..." Riley started.
"Rin can handle it." Zuzu reassured her.
Riley noticed before letting out a small cry wincing. Zuzu took her hand while Wendy looked on nervously.
Half an hour later...
Atem was pacing worried. Then the doorbell rang. He walked, and answered it. Rin, Will, Leslie, Lulu, her daughter, Celina, and Mary were at the door.
"Come on." Atem allowed them in.
They all walked in before Rin turned to him. "Where is she?"
"Upstairs. Zuzu, and Wendy had been up there while I been waiting for you." Atem answered.
Rin nodded before going upstairs.
"What's going on?" Will asked. "Mom's acting funny."
"She's gonna help Aunt Riley to greet the twins." Lulu answered.
"Oh. Ok." Will nodded.
"She must be happy." Mary mentioned calmly.
Atem walked to follow Rin worried. Rin walked into the bedroom before frowning. "Zuzu, can you and Wendy go downstairs please?"
Zuzu nodded before saying, "Come on Wendy."
Wendy nodded as they walked out of the room.
"Don't worry you guys, everything will be fine." Rin smiled before walking into the bathroom to wash off her hands.
Atem hold her hand, "How are you feeling?"
"Everything hurts." Riley answered.
He wiped the sweat from her forehead, and kissed her. Riley smiled as Rin walked out.
Meanwhile downstairs...
Zuzu, and Wendy arrived as Lulu asked, "How is she?"
"She's going to be ok, Rin and Atem are with her." Zuzu answered before frowning. "Does it feel early to you guys?"
"Yeah. This is her eighth month." Celina answered.
"Does that mean the babies are even littler?" Lulu's daughter asked.
"I don't know sweetie." Lulu answered. "But I know they'll be okay."
"Babies?" Mary asked.
"Yes, along with Uncle Atem, and Aunt Riley." Lulu smiled.
"... Can we see them?" Mary asked.
"Not yet." Zuzu answered. "We have to wait for Riley to greet them."
"Babies smell bad."
Celina only hold her daughter's hand.
Upstairs...
"Okay breath Riley. There almost here." Atem told her.
Riley nodded before closing her eyes and crying out in clear anguish. He kissed her forehead before asking Rin, "Is she ready?"
Rin took a look before nodding. "Yeah, now for the hard part. Atem you might want to leave."
"I'm not leaving her Rin." Atem told her. "I promised her, I would stay with her."
Rin nodded before closing her eyes. "Ok, Riley I need you to take slow deep breaths, as many as you can ok?"
Riley nodded with slight tears starting to breath deep slowly. Rin just waited for Riley to try and relax while Atem stayed near her head. Riley soon nodded.
"Ok, take another breath and then try and push. It'll hurt though, I'm just warning you." Rin told her.
Riley nodded before taking a breath, and started to push, and yelped a little.
"Come on Riley." Atem said holding her hand.
"It'll be ok." Rin told her. "Atem, I know you told Riley you'd stay but can you call the hospital again?"
"...Okay." Atem answered after slight hesitation. "I'll be back in a minute."
Rin nodded as Riley cried out again.
"You might want to go to the doctor after they're born just to be safe." Rin explained.
Atem called the hospital again. It rang a few times before someone picked up.
"Hello?"
"Oh thank god! Listen can set up someone to take care of newlyborn twins when there born?" Atem asked. "My wife is having a home birth, and my friend suggested we take them to a doctor just as soon as there born."
The line was silent for a few seconds. "Come in as soon as possible sir."
"Thank you." Atem said before hanging up.
He ran back saying, "Okay there setting up the room for them."
Seconds after he said that Riley screamed in agony as everyone in the house heard her.
"I see one of them." Rin said.
Atem ran over, and hold Riley's hand, "Okay Riley come on. You can do this!"
Riley was screaming and in tears before they heard a small and weak crying. They widen their eyes before looking to see.
"Riley don't stop!" Rin scolded her. "Atem, get some towels."
Atem nodded running to the bathroom before grabbing some, and running back to her. Riley was screaming in agony.
"Just a little more Riley." Rin told her before frowning.
"Come on Riley. The second twin is almost here. You can do it!" Atem said squeezing her hand.
Riley screamed out again as they heard an even quieter crying. Riley breathed, and cried tears of joy while Atem turned to see. Rin was wiping the babies as Atem noticed the girl looked small and the boy looked even smaller.
"Oh... My God. There wonderful." Atem said in disbelief. "But... Why is our son...?"
"I don't know." Rin admitted. "But you need to go to the hospital."
"Right." Atem nodded hearing that
Later...
Atem along with the others were waiting for the results with worried thoughts. Eventually a nurse walked up to them. "Atem Sakaki?"
"Yes? Are my children, and wife okay?" Atem immediately asked.
The nurse nodded before frowning. "They're ok, but your son should stay just to make sure nothing's wrong with him."
"Well did you figure why he is smaller?" Atem asked her.
"It's possible he didn't receive as many nutrients. His vitals are all fine, he may just be a smaller young man." the nurse answered. "Though I can't be certain, the doctor is running some tests."
Atem nodded before starting to tear up, "Oh thank god there okay."
"Would you like to see your wife?" the nurse asked.
"Yes please." He nodded.
The nurse nodded and took Atem to a room where Riley was holding a pink blanket with tears in her eyes. Atem nodded as the nurse closed the door as Atem slowly walked over, "Ri?"
She looked up in tears. "They're here... this is real."
Atem walked to see in the pink blanket. His daughter was asleep but she was trembling.
"My god... She's beautiful." Atem smiled with slight tears.
Riley nodded. "She's upset though."
Atem softly ran his fingers over his daughter's cheek. She slowly opened her eyes before starting to cry. Atem was startled, "Did I scare her? I didn't mean to scare her!"
"I don't think it's that." Riley said. "But I don't know what's wrong."
Atem looked on worried. His daughter just kept crying before the nurse walked in with a blue blanket. Seeing this Atem asked, "Is he okay?"
"Apart from being small he's perfectly fine." the nurse said giving Riley the blanket.
Riley carefully adjusted her arm for her son. Suddenly the girl moved between Riley and the boy and held him close almost as if she was hiding him from Riley.
"Hey... What is she...?" Atem trailed off seeing this.
The girl just hugged her brother close while trying to hide him from Atem and Riley.
"Hey... It's okay. We won't hurt him." Riley told the girl softly.
She instinctively moved closer to her brother. Atem slowly walked, and ran his fingers over her face. She shuddered before looking up at him.
"It's okay baby girl." Atem told her softly. "We're your, and his mommy, and daddy. We will take great care of you two."
She stared at him after he said that before both babies started crying. Atem looked startled, "Gods! Did I scare them?"
"Not at all, they're probably hungry." the nurse mentioned before pausing. "They'll probably be close though."
"What?" Atem asked her.
"The babies are probably hungry, and considering how your daughter is acting I think they'll be extremely close as they grow up." the nurse explained.
Atem looked as he asked, "How can we feed them?"
"Well, do you have bottled formula?" the nurse asked.
"No." Atem answered.
"Well..." the nurse started before whispering something to Riley.
Riley widen her eyes, and blushed.
"Would you like some privacy?" the nurse asked.
"Please." Riley nodded.
The nurse nodded. "Sir come with me please."
Atem looked confused but nodded.
They walked out of the room. "Your wife needs a few minutes sir."
"Is something wrong with Riley?" He asked her.
"Nothing at all." the nurse reassured him.
"Then why are we out here?" Atem asked her.
"She wanted privacy." the nurse explained.
"For what?" Atem asked.
The nurse just stared at Atem in disbelief. "Are you being serious sir?"
"Hey I'm new at this parenting thing, and never seen any baby being fed with the formula." Atem answered.
The nurse nodded in understanding. "I see, well you see..."
One explanation later...
Atem looked down in shock, and embarrassment.
"Hence her wanting privacy." the nurse finished before walking off.
"How come I didn't know that sooner?" Atem asked himself.
'Well I somehow doubt your mother would have engaged in that... particular activity.' Skull Archfiend of Hope mentioned.
'Are you going to let the everyone know your kids are ok?' Photon Archfiend asked.
"Yeah." He nodded before walking to the lobby.
Seeing him Will, Wendy, and Lulu's daughter all ran up.
"Is aunt Riley ok?" Wendy asked.
"Can we help?" Lulu's daughter asked.
"Are the babies feeling ok?" Will asked.
Atem nodded, "Their perfectly fine. The boy is smaller but he's okay."
"That... uncle Atem can I see them?" Mary asked.
"Why, babies are stinky and dumb."
They turned to see who said that. It was Leslie who was pouting. "Babies smell bad and can't do anything."
She turned to Rin.
"Can we please go back now, Will and I were having fun."
"Leslie we were all babies once." Will told her. "I want to see them."
"But why, they're just smelly and stupid." Leslie pouted.
That's when Atem noticed not only did Leslie have green hair but her eyes were the same color as Rin's.
'Huh...?' Atem thought seeing that.
"They can grow up to be like their daddy, and mommy." Will told her.
Leslie pouted again before sitting down.
'Atem... isn't that a thing with you humans?' Chaos King Archfiend questioned before pausing. 'Well, it can be a thing in cases other than yours?'
Atem asked Rin, "Uh Rin?"
"Yeah?" Rin asked turning to him.
"Is there something about Leslie we didn't get?" Atem asked her.
"What do you mean?" Rin asked.
"Well Mary told us a while back that Will had a girlfriend, and said her name was Leslie." Atem answered. "But Leslie looks like a mini version of you."
Rin looked before her eyes widened. "Will, can you come here for a minute?"
Will walked over to her. Rin and Will walked off to talk.
"What's... Going on?" Yuya asked.
"I have no idea." Atem shrugged.
A minute later Will walked back with Rin.
"Leslie, I called your mom and she's coming to pick you up." Rin told her.
"Huh?" Leslie asked.
"You don't like babies, so you can go home now." Will said.
"Don't you wanna come with me?" Leslie asked him.
"No, you're pretty but..." Will started before looking down. "You're kind of mean, and you don't let me pick anything we do."
The group looked surprised hearing Will saying that. He just looked down sadly.
"Your mom will be here in a little bit Leslie, do you want Yugo to wait with you?" Rin asked her.
Leslie looked down. Yugo took her hand as they walked to the front of the hospital. Atem asked Rin, "Uh... What did we just miss?"
Rin looked down at Will who shyly nodded.
"Will thinks I'm pretty so when he met Leslie who looks like me he developed a little crush, and since he didn't know how being a boyfriend works he just thought that was normal." Rin explained. "I told him it wasn't and he said he didn't want to be Leslie's boyfriend anymore but he wants her to be happy."
Everyone looked at each other hearing that.
"Wait then..." Atem said before smiling, "Will would you be interested if I teach you how it works?"
Will blushed but nodded only to pause. "But you love aunt Riley, and she loves you too right?"
"Yeah but we will help you on how it worked when me, and her were younger." Atem answered walking over, and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Besides someone in this room has feelings for you like how it truly goes."
Will blushed even more at that.
'Um Atem... does she, remember the whole parasite thing?' Skull Archfiend of Hope reminded him.
'Don't you see? This could be what we need for Mary to let it go, and not have any bad effects from the hurt she's been feeling.' Atem told him. 'This will work. It has too.'
'Speaking of which, where is she?' Toymaker Archfiend asked.
Hearing that he looked around. "Where's Mary?"
"She's right..." Celina started before noticing Mary was missing. "Mary?"
"She can't have gone far, we have to find her!" Yuri said quickly before a nurse walked up.
"Mr. Sakaki, could you please come with me?"
Atem looked, and nodded. The nurse led him to Riley's room where Riley was smiling as Mary was sitting down and holding the babies while making sure they were close enough to hug each other. Atem looked surprised seeing this.
"They're so cute." Mary smiled happily. "Aunt Riley what are their names?"
"Well... We picked for the girl to be Stephanie." Riley smiled.
"Stephanie." Mary repeated before looking at her. "That's pretty."
Stephanie giggled at her. Mary giggled back. "What about Stephanie's baby brother?"
"His name is Andy." Riley answered.
Mary smiled again and hugged them both.
"Mary?" Atem asked her.
She turned as Atem noticed happiness in her eyes. "Yes uncle Atem?"
Looking surprised he asked, "How did you get here without us noticing?"
"Everybody was talking, and I wanted to see the babies." Mary answered. "I knocked and aunt Riley let me come in and see them. They're super cute."
Atem nodded before saying, "Well here's some great news involving Will, Mary."
Hearing that she immediately looked down sadly.
"Hey it's okay." Atem said walking over, and gently patted her head before telling her, and Riley about what happened.
Riley looked surprised but Mary's eyes widened. "He... did he really say that?"
Atem nodded. Mary looked shocked before getting up and giving Stephanie and Andy to Riley before blushing and running out of the room. Atem looked on before smiling to Riley, "Turns out the answer was in front of us all this time, and we didn't realize it."
Riley just smiled. "Yeah, I guess so."
"Are Stephanie, and Andy full?" Atem asked her walking over.
"Yeah." Riley nodded before blushing. "Did you want to stay?"
"Well... I promised you I wouldn't leave your side, and... I didn't know about it." Atem admitted.
Riley just nodded. "You should let the others know where Mary is, I heard Celina running by earlier."
Atem nodded as he walked back.
"Um... Will?" Mary's voice asked from the waiting room.
"Yeah?" Will's voice asked as Atem arrived.
Mary was looking down nervously and blushing. "I sort of, maybe, a little bit, might... like you."
Will looked surprised at this before blushing also, "Y-You do?"
Mary nodded shyly. "Yeah... you're funny and... cute."
Will blushed brighter before he gave a small peck to Mary's cheek. Mary blushed before hugging him.
Ulrich362: Well that's good.
bopdog111: Riley, and Atem's twins are born, and the issue with the Parasite in Mary has now been resolved.
Ulrich362: Exactly, though it turns out Will didn't actually like Leslie. Hopefully she finds somebody.
bopdog111: Well next time we will see what's next in there lives.
Ulrich362: Yup, it should be happy for everyone involved. See you in the next chapter.
bopdog111: Be sure to review!
