Chapter Twenty-Three: Malfoy's Secret

Just a quick note from the author: Okay guys first of all thank you for the great review (I forgot your username sorry I apologize) and second of all I decided that there's going to be a HUGE change for this fic. Draco and Hermione are going to have a romantic relationship eventually and if that bothers anybody I apologize, but I've sort of somewhat shipped them together for quite some time now, and I wanted to make certain things about the retelling of the HP series extremely different. At some point Draco and Hermione will have their own love story once I get enough ideas.

Since their own love story will begin during The Half-Blood Prince era, I probably will wait until I get there in this fic since I usually watch the real movies to get ideas before I remake each story and with the story being fresh in my mind that should be a perfect time to do it. Btw, that will also take place where Harry Potter is still canon Harry Potter and NOT Harry Snape. Anyways, for now let's get back to my retelling of The Chamber of Secrets.

Once everybody filed into the Great Hall Harry, Ron, and Hermione all sat down at the Gryffindor table and joined Ginny and the rest of their friends. Harry had believed that he secretly had managed to sneak Patches in underneath the table and feed him table scraps, but as usual his father had been onto him and walked over to their table.

"Harry, how many times do I have to tell you that you can't feed that dog at the table?" He questioned him in which he already knew that it was a rhetorical question since his father told him at least once every few days and while Harry apologized quietly to him Ginny silently looked over at the Slytherin table and noticed that Malfoy was whispering to some of his friends while continuing to glance back at Hermione and laugh. Ginny rolled her eyes in complete and utter annoyance.

"What is it?" Hermione whispered.

"Oh, it's nothing except for the fact that Malfoy is getting on my last nerves!" She exclaimed. "Little does he know I already have mastered some jinxes." She told her while meanwhile Ron noticed what Malfoy was doing and simply just narrowed his eyebrows and glared at him.

"What an idiot." He whispered to himself before he continued eating and Harry told his father all about what had happened that day and then his father told him that if it were up to him Lockheart never would have gotten his teaching license to teach at the castle in the first place.

After lunch Ginny and all of the other first year students headed to flying lessons while Harry and the rest of the second year Gryffindors headed off to history of magic. Ron kept falling asleep in class and even started to snore a bit while Harry started daydreaming about his first Qudditch practice that would be taking place later that afternoon once classes were over. Unfortunately much to his displeasure at the end of the day when he was just starting to celebrate and he was headed down to the pitch with the rest of his team, they ran into Marcus Flint and his team and one of their team members just happened to be Draco Malfoy.

"Hey Snape, I figured that I would find you here." He began with an evil sneer, but Harry just simply rolled his eyes at him.

"Great detective work I'm the Gryffindor seeker why wouldn't I be here?" He questioned him back. "The real question is what are you doing here?" He wondered.

"Well obviously I'm now a seeker too. My father gave everyone a new Nimbus 2001 if they promised to let me on the team." He boasted with a really proud grin just as Ron, Hermione, and April Anderson had been walking by.

"Well at least nobody on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way in. They got on the team out of pure talent." Hermione told him while Malfoy turned to look at her in complete and utter disgust while narrowing his eyebrows at her in a glare.

"Nobody asked for your opinion, you filthy little mudblood." He told her and Hermione grew a rather puzzled expression on her face, but April looked rather annoyed and irritated. That's when Ron drew his wand and pointed it at him.

"You'll pay for that one Malfoy! Eat slugs!" Ron hollered as a jet of green light shot out of the tip of his wand but instead of hitting Malfoy with it the curse backfired and knocked Ron backwards onto the ground.

Both of the girls looked extremely concerned for him. "Umm Ron, are you okay?" Hermione questioned him anxiously but instead of being able to answer her with a gigantic belch Ron shot a slug out of his mouth.

"Eww! Yuck! That's disgusting!" April cried while making a face when suddenly a young boy by the name of Colin Creevey came over and took a picture of it.

"Wow can you turn it around Harry?" He inquired as April rolled her eyes.

"Get out of the way Colin!" She cried.

"What should we do?" Hermione wondered.

"We should probably get him to Hagrid's." Harry said as he and both of the girls helped Ron up while he shot another slug out of his mouth and Patches watched them nearby while they started their way on down to Hagrid's hut.

Even after they got there Ron was still puking out slugs. Harry, Hermione, and April all sat down next to him while Hagrid came over to them with a bucket in his hand. "Nothing to do but wait until it stops I'm afraid." He began. "Who did Ron tried to curse anyways?" He wondered.

"Malfoy called Hermione a mudblood." Harry replied.

"What exactly is a mudblood?" Hermione questioned as April heaved a sigh.

"It means dirty blood. It's a really foul name for somebody with non-magical parents. I get called it all the time." She explained.

"You see Hermione, there's some wizards and witches out there who think they're better than everybody else because they're what's called pureblood." Hagrid told her when suddenly Ron threw up another slug.

"It's disgusting." He said with a groan.

"And it's maddening and codswallop if you ask me. There's hardly a witch or wizard alive that's half-blood or less and I don't think there's one as highly intelligent as Hermione with all that she can do." Hagrid reassured her with a rather warm and affectionate smile as he saw that she was currently in tears while Patches leapt up onto her lap and started licking her face and wagging his tail.

Meanwhile, Malfoy was currently headed back to the Slytherin common room with a look of remorse and guilt on his face and Crabbe and Goyle noticed this. "What's with you?" Crabbe questioned him.

"Nothing!" Malfoy snapped back at him. "I'm just stressed over how much homework I have to do. That's all." He lied and then stopped and looked at the wall before giving the password (Pureblood) and all three of them escaped into the common room together.
