Yu-Gi-Oh ! GX : Destiny's Dawn

CHAPTER 13

The tag duel was still underway. Chumley and Syrus were holding the advantage as far as life points went- but the two, that the battle could go either way. Especially with what that new boy, Jesse's, cards, the Crystal Beasts. They were uncertain.

(Syrus/Chumley: 7500 LP)

(Chazz/Jesse: 6000 LP)

"Not bad, Not bad at all for slackers." Chazz admitted, "If it were the old me, I would be cowering myself before that thing's power." He said with a smirk while pointing at Chumley's Master of Oz, "But I'm different now! I'm no longer the Chazz who thought strength is everything, and I'll show it to you losers!"

"I guess there's one thing that didn't change, huh." Syrus sighed, even though Chazz had claimed to be different, he still was as boastful and prideful as before.

Chazz drew a card which he was quick to use. "Cards of Sanctity! It's that good stuff! Oh yeah! With this, all of us will draw until we have six cards in our hands. Not that it will matter." He said while he drew until he had six cards in hand, and everyone did the same. Chazz' smile curled up even more as he saw his hand, "Oh, this can't be good." Chumley noted.

"I know this look!" Jesse stated, "Chazz is about to uhm- Chazz it down?"

"It's Chazz it UP!" Chazz told him, angrily, "And yeah, I'm going to do that! First, I activate VW-Tiger Catapult's effect! By discarding a card from my hand- I can target one of my opponent's monster and change its battle position!" He then clenching his hand into a fist and held it in front of him, before pointing at Master of Oz. "It's about time for Boxer Roo here to take a nap!" He exclaimed as he discarded a card.

VW-Tiger Catapult pointed its cannons at Master of Oz and fired a strange ray beam, causing the green boxing koala-kangaroo to take a defensive stance. "B-But why would you do that?" Syrus asked, confused. "Master of Oz's defense still is far above any of your monsters' attack points!"

Chazz couldn't help but chuckle at Syrus' statement. "Hah, do you have wax in your ears? I no longer think strength is everything- There is more to duel. Something called technique. And what you should have asked is what I just discarded now," Chazz continued, "Ojamagic! When it's sent from my hand or field to the graveyard, I can add Ojama Yellow, Green and Black to my hand!" Chazz said as he searched his deck and grabbed three cards. "You guys better shut up about this!" He spoke to the three cards he just picked up. Confusing Chumley and Syrus even further.

"O-Ojama? I didn't expect Chazz of all people to play them." Chumley said, somewhat familiar with those cards. "They're the epitome of weak."

Chazz wasn't done with his turn yet. "Next, I'll fuse these three buttheads to summon the mighty Ojama King!"

The three ojamas appeared, being the goofy monsters they were, stuck their butts towards each other's and began spinning before a swirling vortex was formed. A white creature was formed that resembled the three but was far bigger in size and muscular appeared, it was wearing a cape and had a crown above its head. "OH YEAH, THE KING IS HERE BABY, WOOO!" Ojama king spoke. (ATK/ 0 | DEF/ 3000)

"Oh hey, it's Ojama King! Been a while since I saw him." Jesse said, waving his hand at the monster.

"Sorry to burst your bubble, but he's not gonna stay here any longer-" Chazz said as he played yet another spell card. "De-fusion! I split Ojama King back into Yellow, Green and Black."

"W-WAIT WHAT? YOU CAN'T DO THAT, BOSS!" Ojama King exclaimed, panicked before he turned into a large orb of light to which the three Ojama Brothers appeared.

"You called, boss?" Ojama Yellow asked. Despite their different appearances, they shared the same stats. (ATK/ 0 | DEF/ 1000)

"Just where is Chazz going on with this?" Syrus asked, confused but uneasy.

"You'll see soon enough," Chazz said, "Here's the final nail in your coffin- now that these three buffoons are on the field, I can activate this," The Princeton boy played another card. "OJAMA DELTA HURRICANE!"

"Awesome, Chazz! Their field will be cleaned right up!" Jesse explained, causing a look of horror in both Chumley and Syrus. "D-Did I hear that right? Not 'licious at all!" Chumley gulped.

"Alright, boys, you heard him!" Ojama Yellow said. "Yeah, let's go!" Both Green and Black said as they formed a triangle from which a massive energy beam emerged that destroyed everything in its way- Master of Oz was not safe as he was destroyed. "No!" Chumley reacted. "I-Incredible! Now we're left defenseless!" Syrus shouted.

"Defenseless and in pain- I still have one card left to play," Chazz said as he played the last card in his hand. "United we stand! I equip this to VW-Tiger Catapult and for every monster- including itself- it gains eight hundred attack and defense points! Four monsters- That makes a boost of thirty-two hundred!"

With that, VW-Tiger Catapult let out a metallic screech as its power more than doubled. (ATK/ 2000 → 5200 | DEF/ 2100 → 5300)

"Ready, FIRE!" Chazz ordered as VW-Tiger Catapult's cannon all pointed at Chumley and Syrus and let out fire at them, the arena was quickly surrounded by explosions resembling mine detonations. With that, Chumley and Syrus' life points took an extreme nosedive.

(Syrus/Chumley: 7500 → 2300 LP)

"Ark…It hurts!" Syrus lamented, catching his breath while Chumley didn't fare any better. "S-Sy, we have to do something or we'll lose!"

"I-I know, but what can we do?" Syrus asked, starting to lose hope. "Nothing. You two will simply lose like good boys. No one can best the Chazz!" Chazz gloated. "Hey, I helped too, you know." Jesse grumbled to himself.

"I-It's my turn.." Syrus stammered as he softly drew a card. Despite the bad situation, there was now a glimmer of hope with the card he has drawn. It was a card he wanted to avoid using but right now- It was the team's sole chance of winning.

Immediately, Syrus perked up with fire in his eyes. "Whoa! I like that look," Jesse grinned. "And I don't." Chazz said shortly after.

"Chum, we can win this! I know we can!" Syrus giggled. "W-We can?" asked Chumley, unsure of why was Syrus was acting like this.

"A-Alright, If I don't end up screwing this, we'll be good," Syrus said. "I activate Monster Reborn!" He said, "I revive Steamroid! Come back!" Syrus exclaimed as Steamroid rose from the ground. (ATK/ 1800 | DEF/ 1800)

Syrus then looked at the card he had drawn, the one that offered him hope. "Zane..I'll see you in the finals." He softly told himself. "Next, I will play the card that will bring us to victory, the famous POWER BOND!"

"What?! Power Bond?!" Chazz took a step back, shocked by the card. "Power Bond- I can't believe I'm seeing it live! That's one of Zane's signature cards!" Jesse grinned widely, "I'm happy to be here, I really am! Let's see what you've got, Syrus!"

"You want a show, I'll give you one!" Syrus was now full blown determined, "I fuse Steamroid, Drillroid and Submarineroid to form Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill!"

Alongside Steamroid two monsters appeared, one that was a drill and the other a submarine and it was obvious who they were. They then merged together as it formed a machine that had the characteristics of the three. "And furthermore, thanks to Power Bond, Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill has its attack points doubled- increasing it to Six thousand points!"

(ATK/ 3000 → 6000 | DEF/ 2000)

"S-Six thousand attack points?! If that attacks one of these lameos," Chazz looked at his Ojama brothers, he had made one tiny mistake- He had summoned them in attack mode as he got way ahead of himself. "We'll lose the duel! Grah, I can't believe you had it in you to do that!"

"Me neither..But I found the courage in myself. It's over, you two, we won. Chumley, shall we?" Syrus turned to his friend. "Yep, let's go! Jaden's waiting for us in the finals, after all!" Chumley nodded.

"Right! Jumbo Drill attack…" Syrus pointed at Ojama Yellow, the monster shocked and whimpering. "…Ojama Yellow!"

"W-What?! Please, Mercy!" Ojama Yellow tried to bargain but it was too late as Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill headed towards him with its drill spinning. "AAAAAHH!" Ojama Yellow screamed when he was hit by the drill and destroyed, with the two other ojama brothers looked at the act with shock and horror.

"Yes, That does it! We won!" Syrus laughed but alas, he had celebrated victory too soon. Chazz and Jesse were still standing. "Nooo! we lost!…Hey, what gives?!" Chazz looked around confused, "W-We didn't lose?!"

"Nope!" Jesse replied. Instead of their life points dropping all the way to zero, it was dropped to three thousand points. They lost half of what they should have lost. (Chazz/Jesse: 6000 → 3000 LP)

"Impossible, but how?" Chumley asked.

Jesse pointed down to the ground, "It's because of this here place." He said, wiggling his finger back and forth, "My Ancient Ruins has plenty of nifty tricks. One of them is that if there are two or more crystal beasts in my spell & trap zone, I can halve any battle damage. Even in my opponent's turn. So I just saved Chazz over here, no need to thank me ya'll."

"What?...You know what, I'll just take. Don't expect me to thank you, though, I still did most of the work!" Chazz scoffed, crossing his arms. "Yeah, you did. And the rest of the work- Well, our little friend did it for us. Power Bond, remember?" Jesse asked in a rather pleasant tone.

"A-Ah, that's right. Man, I ended screwing up after all." Syrus sighed as the duo's life points dropped to zero. They were extremely close to victory, yet still failed. (Syrus/Chumley: 2300 → 0 LP)

Chumley fell to his knees. "Darn it! We failed…" He cursed. "Hmph..You two earned some of my respect, I'll tell you that." Chazz said after the duel ended. "Anyways, I'm outta here to catch a few Z's. Tell those two dorks Jaden and Bastion that I'm coming for them." With that, Chazz walked away.

"Aye, I reckon it's time for me to hit the hay, too." Jesse yawned. "By the way, don't be so down you guys, you fought well. It's just you need a lil bit of practice is all," He told the two. "I'll always be for a duel, just need to tell me when and where. See ya!"

Jesse then left, leaving the two alone. "So, uh, Sy, how are we going to tell Jaden we lost?" Chumley asked. "B-By feeding him his favorite sandwiches before we tell him, that way he'll take the news better."

"Nah, there's no need for that," speaking of the devil, Jaden appeared, having witnessed the end of the duel, "I saw everything. I didn't know Chazz was back and that blue haired guy seems interesting."

"J-Jay? What are you doing here?...So, you saw us lose, too?" Syrus asked. "Well, you know when I left earlier to duel? I ran into some guys, dueled them and won. Then there wasn't anyone left and it was getting late, so I was going back to the dorm." Jaden explained, "And yeah, I did. Don't worry, I'm not going to get mad or anything, I know you two gave your best and that's enough. You two are a lot better than when I first met you."

Chumley and Syrus were moved, to tears, even. "Oh, Jay! You're the best!" They told him, weeping. "That being said, I wanna duel them. I really do," Jaden smiled, determined. "Now let's go back to our room, guys, I'm all sleepy right now."

The rest of the week followed, with many duels a day. However, by the end of the week, only a handful remained. The sixteen finalists, alongside some of their friends. It was the morning of the new day and they were gathered in the classroom.

Standing in front of them, was Chancellor Sheppard, and behind him the professors from all of the academies.

"Congratulations to everyone who made it this far," Sheppard joyfully exclaimed, hands behind his back, "This week has been hectic, and there was not a peaceful day. However, Now is time to move on to the next phase. However, I have an important announcement to make," Sheppard said. "And that is the rest of the tournament will not be held in Duel Academy."

With this statement, he caused many eyebrows to be raised. "What? What's the meaning of this, Chancellor." Zane spoke up. "We always held tournaments to the end in central academy; This academy. Why are we suddenly changing things?"

"I can answer that." Said a tall man with long black hair in his early twenties. He wore a white coat with black shirt and pants. He was very reminiscent of Seto Kaiba, even; That is because this man was his younger brother, Mokuba Kaiba.

"Isn't that Mokuba?" Alexis asked, as she looked at him.

"Ah, Mr. Mokuba, I will leave the explaining to you, in that case." Sheppard said as he stepped backwards. "Thank you, Chancellor. Anyways, Zane, to answer your question, it's because we simply felt that a change of scenery is needed. It's become boring to have everything happen here, in my opinion." Mokuba explained. "Also, this tournament has been unusually big and well, we have in mind far more fitting place."

"Aye, This is a good idea." A student from a different academy nodded, he wore a hat and had a crocodile on his back. His name was Jim Crocodile Cook and he hailed from South Academy.

"Interesting." A black-skinned and athletic man said, Axel Brodie, from West Academy.

The one next to Axel simply pulled his glasses up, a red-haired male named Adrian Gecko from East Academy, but the idea had seemed to interest him somehow.

"Not a bad idea! So where will the rest of the tournament be?" Jaden asked, totally on board with this.

"I'm glad you asked," Mokuba replied, smiling. "Well, none other than the Kaiba Dome, where the Pro League Duelists face off against each other!"

"Looks like we're already playing with the big boys." Bastion said, crossing his arms. "I am curious to know what will happen next."

"Of course, the trip to Domino City is a long one," Sheppard stated. "So, along the way, the tournament will still resume. Mr. Mokuba here was kind enough to give us an official KaibaCorp Airship. The rest of the tournament will happen on the aircraft while the final part of it will be held in the Kaiba Dome." Sheppard added, "And if any of you know the history of dueling well, you would know by which event this situation is inspired by."

However, the answer to such a question was extremely easy to figure out. "The Battle City quarterfinals." Zane spoke up. "That's where the quarterfinals happened; On top of Kaiba's ship."

"Correct, Zane," Sheppard replied. "We'll give you the rest of the day to prepare yourselves, prepare your best strategy, relax, or perhaps, you wish to walk around Duel Academy for old time's sake- Whatever it is, you are free to spend your day as you wish."

"Mighty kind of ya, Chancellor. I wouldn't mind a good nap after everything." Jesse stated.

The quarterfinals were at dawn, and the tournament was getting closer and closer to the end.

Author's note:

By the time this chapter dropped, The fanfic reached 1000 views! So thank you guys for that. Oh, and if any of you were wondering, I know that card of sanctity doesn't work like that in real life- I'm merely using the anime effect for it. That also goes for most other cards, too, so if you were confused about some cards please be aware that I am using anime effects.
