Chapter 9 Invisibility, The Entrance Exam Arrives
Third P.O.V
4 and half months hav passed since Izumi had found out Alex was part Saiyan. Her training had continued without any more external issues. One morning Alex had shown up with All Might to discuss about new things to add to Izumi's training. Alex was wearing a blue winter coat with black jeans on and running shoes.
Suddenly a primal scream stop them in their tracks. Alex and All Might look in the direction where the noise was coming from. They both look in awe at what they witness before their eyes. Izumi was on top of a trash pile, giving a roar of victory. All Might and Alex both approach the beach for both of their eyes to widen even further.
What was once a messy beach, filled with trash that should have taken a few more weeks to clean, was gone. In it's place was a beautiful beach as far as the eye can see. The beauty of the sun as it shines on the water. The beautiful ocean as it shines with a beautiful clear color.
Alex's mind spiral. Izumi not only cleared this entire beach of trash, but also did it sooner than he or All Might could have anticipated. Next to him he heard All Might say "Holy...stinking...SUPER CRAP!" All might Finishing his sentence in his buffed form.
Izumi had started to wobble and eventually fell off the tower of trash. All Might thankfully reacted and quickly had caught her before she hit the ground. Alex approached the pair and stood next to All Might. As All Might put Izumi down, Alex took a good look at her. She had a white tank top on with black short shorts on.
Alex smiled "You've certainly made progress. You're more muscular than you were when we started. Even though your physique was good before, now its even better. Who knows, keep this up and you might have a better figure than me." he said with a joking grin on his face.
All Might's smile grew wider, not because of what Alex said, but of Izumi's reaction. She had a big blushed on her face. She shook her head quickly and look down at her hand ignoring how quickly her heart rate increased. "All Might...Alex...I'm so lucky to have met you both. Am I really worthy of this power?" she had ask with hesitancy in he voice.
Alex watches as All Might begans to speak as he pulls a piece of his hair out "Young Midoriya, I was once told that the difference between someone who recieves something out of luck and someone who recieves something out of hard work is their essence. We both know that you're the latter of the two choices." All Might finished while turning his head to look at Alex.
Alex nods. To him and Izumi, no words were needed, the nod was enough to know that he trusted her. Izumi eyes tear up. In her mind as All Might lifted the piece of hair he pluck out, one could swear that she was saying something inspiring. Everything was perfect. It felt ceremonial as Izumi stared at All Might ready to recived his quirk. Everything felt serious.
Until All Might said "EAT THIS!" to which Izumi could reply with only a simple sound.
"Huh" she had muttered out in surprise. Alex had a different reaction. It was a noise like Izumi did, but instead of confusion it was something entirely different. Alex was laughing. Tears falling out of his eyes. Both how All Might had said that and Izumi's reaction had made his day.
All Might Continued "It's the only way you can get my quirk. It has to be transferred by DNA." Izumi hesitantly grabbed the hair, but before she could swallow it, Alex stop her "Wait, before you eat that." Alex had said while going to All Mights truck and returning with a water bottle. Alex then finished "You might need this." Izumi takes the water bottle while thanking him.
Alex chuckles as he watch Izumi struggle to eat and swallow the hair strand. Once Izumi swallowed the hair, Alex stood back, awaiting to see an upsurge of power to come and radiate from her. Except nothing happen for the first few seconds. So he waited a few more. Nothing. Alex approached All Might.
"So, did it work? Cause her energy presence doesnt feel that different." Alex had ask while expecting the power to suddenly flare up mid sentence. All Might look at Alex "It needs to injest itself into her body first. It'll take a while efore she can activate the power of One for All." All Might had replied.
Alex wondered something. Alex had a faster metabolism. If he had gotten One for All, would he activate it sooner. Questions for later. All Might gained his attention by jingling the keys to his truck. "Let's take a drive. I have a great place for you to test One for All." Alex looks at Izumi for clarification. Her response was a shrug. Neither of them knew where All Might was talking about.
As All Might walked to his truck, Izumi and Alex look at each other one more time and Nodded towards each other. This was a nod to be prepared for anything. Where they were going however surprised both of them. Mostly Izumi.
As the trio arrived to their location, Izumi's eyes widen in amazement. "WE'RE AT U.A!?!" She shouted loud enough to rival All Might's California Smash. Alex jumped in his seat in surprised. All Might just chuckled a bit. He remembered when be brought Alex here, that he had a similar but calmer reaction.
The trio got out of the vehicle and started to walk in the school. Since it was a Saturday, no one but staff was at the school. As the three walked Izumi was mumbling to herself. Alex was next to her and only words that he could understand her say where "I'm actually here...dream...must be a prank." Alex smiled. sits obvious that she believes that this is just a dream.
Alex decided to poke Izumi's head to get her to stop mumbling. A couple of minutes of walking later, Alex stops. He felt a huge spike in power next to him. When he turned it only confirmed his suspicions. Next to him Izumi's body had started to cover in red veins of energy before it slowly fades away. "All Might, I think Izumi can use One for All now." Alex told All Might
All Might turned and saw just in time as the energy comepley faded away from Izumi. He smiles "Good, now we can have Young Midoriya go on a test drive." All Might replied. As the three continued to walk they eventually walk to what looked like an abandoned part of a city.
Waiting near the entrance are two people. One looked like a short elderly woman. She was wearing a doctor's coat over her clothes and she had a large needle as a cane. The person next to her was someone both Alex and All Might recognized. It was principle Nezu.
Nezu notices them "Ah, All Might good to see you. I came here with Recovery Girl as soon as you could." he said. He looked over to Alex and Izumi. "I'm guessing the young lady with Mr.Washington is your successor?" he had asked. Alex and Izumi stiff up.
All Might notices this "Relax you two. These two know about One for All." he reassured them. As the two calmed down All Might take Izumi ahead, Nezu signals Alex to lean down. Once Alex does Nezu leans into his ear to asks "What does Ms.Midoriya know about you?" Alex whispers back "She knows about me bring part Saiyan and Ki, other than that nothing else."
Nezu nods. Alex looks to Recovery Girl then asks "Does she know about me?" Nezu once again nods and replies "She'll keep it a secret, dont worry. Shes a trusted friend." Alex looks to Recovery Girl who smiles and offers a candy "Here you go, you look. very healthy for your age. Remember to let yourself relax once in a while." she said. Alex smiles and accepts the candy. Shes a nice lady.
While the three talked, All Might were discussing with Izumi about how to use One for All. "Whenever I use One for All, I concentrate, clench my butt cheeks, and yell from the depths from my heart." All Might punch the air normally to emphasize his point.
Izumi nods in response. "Remember to punch the opposite direction from us. Recovery Girl is here in case of any injuries that could happen. After all it is the first time you're using One for All." said All Might as he turned around and walked towards the three members watching.
Izumi takes a deep breath. She focuses on what All Might had told her. She draws her right arm back. As she concentrates, the red veins of energy return, only this time its focused on her right arm instead of her body. Alex and All Might brace themselves for the power to be realised. Nezu and Recovery Girl use All Might as cover. Izumi then punches forward releasing the power. As soon as the punch was finished a powerful gust of air releases into the fake city.
The force of both the wind and force released from the punch forced Nezu and Recovery Girl to hold on tight to All Might. The force was able to move All Might a small bit. Meanwhile Alex is struggling to stop himself from moving any more. The force had managed to move him an entire 3 feet. Alex had to cover his eyes from how much power was realised.
In that moment Alex felt the presence of Izumi. In that one moment Alex felt excited because of what he sensed from Izumi. In that moment he knew Izumi had done something that not even Katsuki could even do. In that one single moment, Izumi had surpass him by a noticable margin in both power and strength.
As the force dissipated, the 4 people watching watch what the power did. With a single punch, Izumi had shattered every window in every building while creating cracks in the foundations as well. Alex could only stare in amazement. Izumi's strength was incredible, the amount of power required to do that kind of damage to the area was impressive. Not even Alex could do that even if he had tried with all his strength.
Alex's thoughts were interrupted by a scream of pain from Izumi. When Alex turn to look ar Izumi, his eyes widen in worry. Izumi's right arm looked purplish from the middle of the biceps to her hand. Her fingers are twisted in angles that arent supposed to be natural.
Izumi cries as he clutches her arm in pain. Alex runs over to her and holds her from behind as they crashed to the ground. Izumi sobbed into Alex's arm as the painful waves went through her. "Shhh, just yell into my arm, it's going to be ok." Alex had whispered. All that Power at the price of a broken limb. Alex knew it seemed too good to be true.
As Alex and Izumi held each other, Recovery Girl made her way to Izumi. She then bent down and gave Izumi a kiss on her arm. Slowly the arm turned green as the color faded away to reveal Izumi's normal skin color. Izumi and Alex both looked at her arm in amazement. Izumi suddenly grew very tired and fell asleep in Alex's arms.
Alex looked up at Recovery Girl in shock. "What did you do?" he asked. Recovery Girl answered with a calming smile "My quirk allows me to amplify and accelerate a person's natural healing process by kissing them. However it drains energy whenever healing. The bigger the injury the more energy it takes."
Alex was surprised, but was mostly glad Izumi. Alex looked at All Might. He gently set Izumi down as he talked to Recovery Girl without removing his gaze "Make sure shes ok I need a word with All Might." He didnt wait for an answer as he moved to All Might. As he walked he started to speak. "What. The. Fuck. Was. That. She Almost Blew Her Arm Apart." Alex had said in a angry tone.
All Might looked rather surprised. He responded quickly "I don't know Young Washington. I honestly don't. When I had One for All, I've never had this problem before." Alex sighs. Alex looks up to the sky and cups his mouth over his mouth. "NIMBUS!" he shouted.
Alex walks to Recovery Girl. "Is she safe to take home?" he asked. Recovery Girl nodded "Yes, although I reccomend you leave her in area to sleep she'll be very tired." she replied. Alex nodded as he picked up Izumi bridal style. As Alex waited to Izumi, he stared at All Might. "I'm sorry All Might, I didnt mean to get mad. I just worry about her."
All Might nodded and returned to his original form. "It's ok Young Washington. You were just concerned about Young Midoriya. You just voiced what we were all thinking. I don't blame you." All Might replied. As soon as he finished, Nimbus had arrived and parked itself in front of Alex.
As Alex hopped on Nimbus carrying Izumi, the three adults stare in shock and confusion. Alex notice the looks and replied "I'll explain next time. I'll see you all later." He then told nimbus to go to back to the apartment which the nimbus flew in that direction.
During the flight back, Alex was thinking of why Izumi's arm ended up being broken. It didn't break for All Might. Was Izumi still too weak for it? That also doesnt make sense. Whatever the answer was Alex needed to find a way to solve it. He held Izumi tighter as they got closer home.
He will find a way to help her. He has to.
A week had passed since Izumi gained One for All. Everyday Izumi trained with Alex and All Might to figure out how she can use it effectively. As the minutes become hours, Alex had started to become frustrated. Alex had spent nights using his knowledge of the body and how energy can effect it.
All though quirks and Ki were two different things, One for All work similarly from what All Might had told him. One for All could power up a users like Ki does although with a few differences. While One for All seemed to have more power, Ki had more potential.
The week after Izumi got her powers, Izumi had struggled to use the strength right and hurt her arm. Even though it wasnt a broken when she first used it, it was fractured a lot and needed some rest. Alex having gotten frustrated had left to go for a walk once he dropped Izumi off that afternoon.
Alex walked with no particular place to go. He just let his feet guide him to a location. Before he knew it he ended up on Dagobah Beach. Alex had noticed that it was still as clean as he had last seen it. He sighs happily to himself, but frowns. He finds a bench that has a perfect view of the ocean.
Alex decided to sit and watch the sun as it'll soon touch the water at the horizon. It helped ease his frustration. Little did Alex know, he wasnt the only one frustrated that day as he'll soon find out.
Alex's P.O.V
This feels peaceful. The horizon looks beautiful at this time of the day. I smile as I slowly calm down. I look down at my own feet to think. One for All. Such power in Izumi. I thought training her the last couple of months would have helped her use it. The fact that she damages her arms whenever she uses this power now makes me worry.
If she had gotten it sooner...I shudder at the thought. Man this is all so complicated. I've stayed up for hours this past week trying to figure out how she can use this power effectively. I ruffle my hair in frustration. Well it least I have a beautiful sunset to watch for now.
Around 5 minutes pass before I here a feminine sound of a sigh next to me. I turn and I'm surprised. Next to me about 5 to 7 scooches over is a bunch of clothes floating in the air. I assume it's a girl because of the feminine figure she had and the sound of the sigh from earlier.
The floating clothes appear to be a sorta summer time clothing. A tank top that had a sorta pattern around the chest area and short shorts that look like the material for jeans and sandals . I start to process what I see. Its clear it's a girl, floating clothes, cant see her at all. Quirk...most likely invisibility.
She seemed upset. I didnt know how to approach someone new unless they did so with me. So I decided to wing it. "Hey are you ok" I asked her. I assume she turns as the floating clothes slightly turn in my direction. "Yeah I'm fine."
I tilt my head. She said she was fine. Yet again he did live with Izumi and whenever she said she was fine, she usually lied. Maybe it's the same thing with her. I decided to take a risk "You know I've been told I'm a great listener, albeit it was my friend that told me that, but still I want to help." I said.
She sighs and begans to speak "I'm sorry, it's just my friends made me mad. As you can tell my quirk is invisibility. My physical body is invisible. That's it. I can kinda fight but that's about it. I'm practically useless." she had told me
I look at her more. She thought she was useless. I speak "You're quirk doesnt seem uselss. It's cool, I mean it can be used for stealth and stuff. You can also use stealth attacks and surpise your enemies. That's a real useful quirk if you know how to use it well." She turns more to look at me.
"Its not the usage of the quirk that bothers me." she replied. I hear her take a deep breathe before she continues "Its the fact I havent seen what I look like in years. Sure I had baby pictures but that's it. I dont even know what I look like now. Do I have chubby cheeks? Do I have thin lips? Do i have beautiful eyes? I can't answer any of that." I hear her voice crack near the end.
She had begun to cry "So many people remind of it, even if its not on purpose. Just Today we were picking teams for a fun game and I was forgotten since I couldn't be seen." she sobbed quietly. I stare at her. She wants to be seen. This quirk of hers has taken that opportunity away from her.
I look at her as I see droplets of tears drop from these round shape orbs from nothing. I think of something. Quirks are physical abilities. Ki can connect to our physical bodys to both make us stronger and also manipulate ourselves. Like flight as Roshi once told and explained to me. I wonder.
"Hey what's your name?" I asked the girl. She sniffs and responds "Toru Hagakure." I smile at her "My names Alex Washington. I may have something that could work but I need you to trust me." I ask. Hagakures body stiffens up for a minute before relaxing and replying "O...ok."
I hold out both my hands "Can I see your hands?" I asked. She reluctantly puts her hands over mine. I gently hold them. I try to transfer a little Ki through her body. At first it didnt work. That was until I saw an aura form around Hagakure's presence. She holds my hands tighter. I look at her "Now focus on turning off your quirk, with all you got."
I hear the sounds of small grunts as she focused. As she continues to grunt I notice something. Its fading but for a second I see her body sorta continue to appear and fade out of existence. I apply a little more energy. As I do her appearance changes.
Her skin looked a healthy pale and she had black hair. Her figure becomes easier to see. Shes a little short, but with a curvy and beautiful figure for her age. All that I can see and describe proved my theory. It worked. She was no longer invisible.
She has her eyes closed tightly. I smile at how my theory proved right. She asked in a hesitant voice "Did it work?" I reply "Why dont you take a look for yourself." She slowly opens her eyes as if she was prepared to be let down. When she looks at her arms her eyes open wide.
This allows me to determine that her eyes are silver. She looked beautiful. She quickly gets up and drags me to the nearest bathroom. I wait outside while she was in the bathroom, most likely looking at herself. I smile. I did something right for once.
She returns outside with tears in her eyes. I got worried. Did I mess something up? I get ready for the consequences when she suddenly hugs me tightly "Thank you. You've done something doctors couldn't help me with." she cried into my shirt. I hug her back.
She pulls back and smiles brightly. I smile back. Suddenly her skin and hair stare to fade slowly, I notice it. It'll take a couple of hours but she'll be invisible again. I have to tell her "Hagakure I'm sorry, it doesnt look like its permanent. From how it looks you'll only have a couple of hours until your back to being invisible." I tell her
She quickly looks down at her arms and notices it as well. She frowns but instead of being upset, she just sighs "Oh well, although I hoped this was permanent, it looks like I'll settle for a few hours of being seen. And it's all thank to you." she responds and smiles at me again.
I smile back. She then pulls out her phone "Let's exchange numbers, I would like to keep talking to the guy who helped me become visible again." she tells me. I nod and we exchange numbers. We walk back to the bench and talk for a bit. As we talk something comes to mind.
Her quirk invisibility was all over her body. Izumi's quirk is focused on her arm only. All Might had used One for All all over his body. The answer is simple. She needs to spread it out through her body. Not just one limb. Connecting the dot, I get up abruptly. I turn to Hagakure "I'm sorry I just realized there was something I need to take care of. How about we hang out more? If that's ok with you?" I ask while rubbing my head expecting a rejection.
She jumps up from her seat with a smile "Sure, Let's text each other tomorrow for details." she replied. We said out goodbyes as I ran back home. While running back I had to think of a way to explain how she could use her powers.
The next day I had told All Might and Izumi about something that could help. I had told them to meet me at Dagobah beach. As I wait I think over to how I'm going to explain it. As a mentor I dont want to give Izumi all the answers so I have brought some supplies to help them.
As I prepared I hear the two walk. All Might in his skinny body and Izumi in her workout gear. White tank top and shorts. As I see the two approach I smile "Good you're here. Let's see if I'm right." I tell them. All Might gives me a curious look "Well what's your idea? What can we do to help Young Midoriya?" he had asked.
"Well I'm glad you asked. Be honest with me All Might. You said you never had this issue. I think I know why. Your body was more Physically ready to handle the power." I say before I pull the bag closer to me.
"You told us that the quirk is a stockpiling quirk becoming stronger and stronger with each new user. When you got it your body was more like that" I say while pointing at a concrete wall. "Your body could handle 100 percent of its power. However, since the quirk is stronger and Izumi's body is more like this." I say while pulling out a water balloon.
Izumi and All Might looked seriously intrested until I pulled out the water balloon. Which the two comically do a classic anime fall which makes me chuckle. I continue.
"Imagine this balloon is Izumis arm." I walk to a nearby water hose and fill up the water balloon to the most it can possibly hold. I walk back to the two. "Now imagine the water inside is One for All." I drop the water balloon to the ground as it makes contact with the ground and pops.
I look at the two and ask "Imagining that the balloon was Izumi's arm with One for all, What happened?" All Might was still thinking but Izumi understood "I was putting all my power into my fist alone. Everytime I used it it would damage my arm whenever I used it." She said aloud.
I snap my fingers "Exactly, you were putting too much power into your arm when you should be decreasing it. Its similar to me and Ki. If I use too much of my energy like when you first saw the Kamehameha, my arms became numb." I reply as I put a little Ki into my arms.
"That's not the only issue I see. Izumi, you're using One for All like a switch. You turn it off and on when you shouldnt be doing that. No matter what we say, One for All is just an enhancement quirk, the most powerful one I've seen or heard of." I continue as I pull out another water balloon.
"Its similar to Ki except it's more powerful. Both of you at me for a second. " I tell them. As they both look, I focus my Ki all over my body. As I feel Ki course through my body I see an outline of Ki on my arms. I look at Izumi directly "What am I doing with my Ki?" I ask her.
I see the wheels turn in her head. I dont blame her though, she hasn't had a quirk for very long, shes learning this for the first time ever. I smile as I see realizations hits her face.
"You're having it course through out your body. You're saying that I can have it course through my body." she said. I clap once.
"YES, Exactly. This will enhance your speed and strength. You wont have as strong punches as before, but with this you wont damage yourself anymore." I smile. I hold the balloon out in front of me.
I see All Might smile a bit. That's when I figured it out. He knew. He wanted Izumi to figure that out on her own. He gives me a thumbs up. I knew that I couldn't give her all the answers, but that doesnt mean hints weren't allowed.
I frown a small bit "However you shouldn't go 100 percent coursing through your body. Imagine this balloon as your whole body this time." I walk back to the water hose and I begin to fill the balloon. Only this time I dont remove it. The balloon grows in size. It becomes bigger and bigger until it pops. I turn off the hose and walk back towards the two.
"If you use too much your body will be destroyed." I look ar Izumi in the eyes. I'm not sure how much Izumi can handle. Theres only one way to find out. "Focus on that power. Instead of it having that feeling on your first spread it all over your body. You got this." I reassure Izumi.
She gives me a nod of determination as she focuses. I look at her as I feel her strength increase. I smile when I see what I was looking for. The red veins of energy appear again as it covers her entire body. She glows a bit as the energy becomes slightly brighter. As the red veins slowly disappear, green lighting surrounds her, sparking intensely every second.
I feel her energy and I smile. She has surpassed Katsumi and is near my level of strength. I look at her eyes and see that One for All had caused her eyes to become brighter, more potent with energy. She feels entirely different. Before her energy was calm and energetic. Now I can sense a fighting spirit coming from it.
All Might eyes widen as I look at him. Hes most likely surprised that Izumi was able to figure it out so quickly. Not to mention, I feel that when isn't using all of it. Without our help, she has figured out a good amount of energy. If she had saiyan blood in her, she would be an unstoppable warrior in the future.
I hear All Might speak "Incredible. It looks like you're able to handle 3 percent of One for All. If you continue training, you'll be able to achieve at least 20 percent soon." I'm shocked.
This is only 3 percent. Shes almost as strong as me and this is only 3 percent. I feel my blood course in excitement. I want to see how capable she is. I approach her while activating my quirk. As I feel the warm flames course my body I smiled at her and get into a fighting stance. "If you dont mind All Might, I would like to see just how strong she is." I tell All Might while looking at Izumi with a grin.
Izumi matches my grin as she also gets ready to fight. I grin wider. Whether or not I win this fight, I do know this. This will be the one of many sparring matches where she could have potential of beating me easily.
That possibilty excites me even more.
Third P.O.V
As the months pass, both Alex and Izumi became stronger together. Along with his strength, Alex's friendship with Toru grew as well. Alex learned pretty quickly who Toru was when she wasnt sad. Shes was simply a bubbly happy girl who liked to smile.
Alex and Toru had found out that they were both planning on attending U.A. This had Toru excited and they both promised to see each other in the heroics course.
During training with Izumi. Alex had discovered how to hover off the ground. Even though it wasnt high, Alex still treated it to be a personal achievement. However not all was well with him.
In the coming days of the Entrance Exam, Alex had dreams plague his mind. With beings he had never seen. From a white horned lizard creature, to a grey alien looking creature wearing a red and black spandex of some kind and so many more.
One dream in particular happened the night before the entrance. In the dream Alex was on a large boulder in the ocean. Alex felt energy surge behind him. When he turned. He had seen two beings. One looked like a weird human with bug like features. He was green with dots and had a weird crown on his head. He also look pale, he also had pink eyes and bug wings on his back.
Over to Alex's left was a being he had seen mutiple times before in his dream. The man had spikey golden hair. He was wearing some kind of armor. White gloves and boots. He was wearing a blue jumpsuit and had armor on his torso. The man had put his arms in front of him with his wrists connected.
Alex watches as the man suddenly gathers energy into his hands. A large ball of yellow energy is formed from his hands. The energy starts producing electricity off it. The ball becomes more and more intense. The man yells something that only Alex can hear before the ball becomes a beam of energy.
As the beam is realised, everything goes white as Alex awakens. This dream was something different, something about it seemed to tell himself. As Alex laid in his bed, he muttered what the man had yelled before the beam was realized.
"Final Flash."
Multiple hours later. Alex and Izumi stared at the entrance of U.A. The two had different thoughts in their head. Although the two came to the same conclusion. They worked hard for months to get here.
They were both going to give it their all. They were going to be heroes.
