Dawn of Injustice: Return of the Mavericks Ch. 20 (Finale pt. 7: Return of the Mavericks)
Disclaimer: This is an indirect sequel to the first Dawn of Injustice Loud Heroes story. It follows the Destruction Ending where the Hatchilings of the Phoenix and the Children of the L-Crew sisters are now looking for clues on how will they be able to bring back the Phoenix King, Lincoln Loud (formerly known as Firecracker). Now they are stuck in a timeless plane of existence that is the nexus of all other worlds created. It is the alpha and omega of the worlds, and the realm works as if it never existed and exists as the same time: The World That Never Did. Some characters may return while some may not.
TLH/TC are owned by Nickelodeon Studios. Loud Heroes is owned by Smoking Wrecker [Epic-Wrecker] and Zachlor16.

The world's reality is shifting. Merging with an abandoned timeline. What cannot be changed nor undone is being done and set in motion. This is the reality they've wanted, it shall be granted to them. But from a new perspective also comes new challenges.
Dr. Azrael/Dr. Myth, Hope [Charmcaster], Mike Morningstar, John Constantine, Yunan and Caine/Soothsayer had started noticing the paradigm shift of reality. The champions may had succeeded their task but they have not returned yet. The other people however do not notice this change for only those connected to a more celestial/cryptical sciences can decipher the sudden change in the atmosphere. The supernatural detectives; Winchester Brothers have theorized that the Primordial Twins had made their move and so they must do also on that sudden inertia.
Charmcatser: They… did it. The world is changing. Ben and Gwen should be able to feel this sudden paradigm shift.
Mike: That would mean other humans that aren't involved with our problem would suddenly lose any memory of this timeline. Only us, the L-Crew, the Plumbers and Rogues would remember this.
Charmcaster: Yes, that is true.
A portal of crimson red then appeared and from it Faust Schnizer/Lucifer Morningstar appeared!
Mike: Dad…
Faust: Well isn't this a surprise! The world's shifting yet again. The time-space continuum might create another butterfly effect but the champions had succeeded either way. This would mean…
Mike: The inevitable will still be there but, in a less severe degree compared to this reality.
Faust: Exactly. That's why, Emerson's soul escaped the Netherworld and now being repaired back here. Once again, your dear old Grandpa made the impossible possible.
Mike: I supposed He had. [looks at his father] You miss you brethren don't you? Especially your twin brother, Michael Demiurge El-Shaddai?
Faust: Do I though?
Mike: Why else would you name me after uncle then? This sudden shift of reality makes you question if it's possible to stop the fall of human or much more, stop your Aunt Pandora from influencing you via the Mark of Cain.
Faust: And yet, It can't be done. The only reason of this sudden change because it's not necessarily breaking the natural law of time but rather fastening it with a butterfly effect. The regime's former king will still find a way of redemption and… still destined to fight that McCann boy. But rather than a battle to the death, it is just merely to settle a rivalry.
Mike: You… looked, didn't you? Can't help but try divination again? What would Amenadiel and Uncle Demiurge would say if he caught you playing that again?
Faust: You wouldn't tell!
Mike: I won't but you better behave yourself, father. If you know what's best for you. Now run along now. I still have a date with my girlfriend.
Faust summons an arcane circle that creates a portal back to the Netherworld.
Mike: Oh and one more thing… Say hello to stepmother Lilith and stepsister Charlotte for me.
Faust: You know they miss you. She at the hotel as usual near Limbo and Imp City at the Pentagram City. That Radio Overlord better not ruin things from there.
Mike: She still believe in that philosophy?
Faust: She's stubborn, I give her that. But that's one reason why Harriet, Erynis and Thanatos also manages there.
The king of the Netherworld then returned home.
Charmcaster: So what now?
Mike: We can do whatever we want. Right, Soothsayer?
Soothsayer: A new life, for the heroes and for all of us.
-Final Showdown: The Ace and The King, A to K-
Within the premises of Order's Sanctuary awaits the heroes, Materia and Spiritus. Why is the so called Maverick god of magics and chaos suddenly had been allowed in the place of Order and Harmony, the place where the four adoptive Loud children from another Earth had escaped. There's a reason behind all this.
Flashback
After the battle against Vector and Desperado Chaos had finally come to a conclusion. The heroes had once again gathered to the Memory Skyscraper and discussed the next move they must make in order for them to determine the fate of the world. It was once suggested a battle royal between those who side with Spiritus against those of Materia's. But in doing so would mean the losing side will lose memories of their encounter here. The champions disagreed on this method. It was time for them to set forth a new path. But there are no other options left until…
Ehyeh: How about this?
Pandora: We had already been finished on shifting the world so what is left is a decider.
Ehyeh: So instead of a battle royal, one thing will resolve this crucial matter.
Solomon/Dr. Brainiac: And what do you suggest, Creator of Cosmos?
Ehyeh: A representative battle, one-vs-one. A showdown between a champion of Materia against a champion of Spiritus. What do you say?
Materia: Very well. Same condition, same winning reward and losing reward. Except, those who doesn't participate will be spared on this fate, correct?
Pandora: That's correct and this is much quicker.
Spiritus: Very well. I had this planned out knowing this would be inevitable.
Materia: Then I choose as my champions is…
Logan/Knightwing: Me! [He stepped forward] I volunteer. I will!
Lori/Savitara: You literally can't be serious about this!
Logan/Knightwing: This isn't a debate. I will do this. Us from the Hatchling… we started this mess. Just for Lina to bring father back. So this time… I'll be the one doing the hard work.
Lina/Star Hanabi: But Logan… please!
Logan/Knightwing: Stay out of this! You've suffered enough. I'll do this.
Jor-El tries to reason with Logan but… Lyle/Toby pull him back.
Lyle[Toby]/Sunspot: Let him go, Jor-El. He made up his mind. I know he can pull through. Plus, I expected this.
Lita[Rochelle]/Firesurge: Are you sure about this?
Terry/Scarlet Canary: Knowing him he's definitely serious.
Panther/Crimson Panther: We know.
Hiromi[Sonnet]/Ruby-Wing: Hai! He's got this!
Spiritus: Very well, then your opponent is… I, myself, will be your opponent!
Ehyeh: Then let there be no opposition. These are now the combatants!
Carol/Cyber-girl: You planned this?
Sam then approached Logan. But not dissuading him, but giving him advice.
Sam/Genorocker: Logan?
Logan/Knighwing: Yes, aunt Samantha?
Sam/Genorocker: Lina is your half-sister from me. Luna and I took care for her, yet she yearned for a father. So, what I'm asking is… Give him a heck of a beating for leaving us in the gutter. Show him who's boss and drag his arse back here to us. Okay?
Logan/Knightwing: [smiles] Gladly!
Flashback End
Lori/Savitara: I literally can't believe they're going through this!
Roby and Rory could only nod in agreement. Leni is scared to watch what is about to unfurl but her daughters held her hand for comfort. Carol is going to spectate and be an arbiter along with Lisa, Ehyeh, Pandora, and Solomon. The rest are going to watch the battle.
Sam/Genorocker: Win, you runt. Drag Lincoln here back to us. [thoughts: This is it. Luna, we're getting him back.]
Lita[Rochelle] and Lyle[Toby]: Go get him, Logan! [thoughts: This is for leaving mom again!]
Lina/Star Hanabi: Logan… dad… please… just come back to us.
Logan/Knightwing: I will take you back, if I have to drag you to the fiery abyss it self. Bet on it!
Spiritus: Hmph! Talk is cheap. Words are useless. Show me your resolve with your fist. I DARE YOU, HURT ME IF YOU CAN!
Logan/Knightwing: When this is all over, I will make you submit… FATHER! {Logan said as he cracks his fiery angelic wing into fists]
Both contenders had stood at their respective sides and prepared for a duel of a lifetime; a clash that they will remember. Ace against the King, Starter vs Ender, Angel of Birthing Blaze against the Maverick Agent of Discord, A son against his own father. This may be mere violence to the others, but to them; the father and son fighters, it is a discussion of fists, wits and resolve.

-Guitar Rock Starts Here-
Without second thoughts both contenders rushed towards each other and clashed fists upon nearing each other. Then they both jumps back and used their weapons to clash once more, with Logan and his spear; Longinus and Spiritus's giant blade. Logan swipes his spear as Spiritus parries each strike. Spiritus then initiates counteroffensive and he swipes his blade from left to right, upward and downward, and contrariwise. Logan barely dodges and blocks each attacks, impacting his spear. Then while launched farther, Logan then activates his Angel Trigger and fired a series of Holy Flame Arrows. Spiritus erected a barrier of arcane energy and blocks the attacks but Logan created more to pierce through. It seemed the energy from the artifacts they received from this world, along with the training back the Skyscraper is paying off. Spiritus then snaps his fingers and all the arrows seemed to disperse into steam.
Logan/Knightwing: What?
Spiritus: There's a reason why I am the Maverick god of magics and discord. I understand the science and pseudoscience of most things. While Materia is the Maverick goddess of machinations and harmony as she understood physical life and power. I represent wisdom and mystics.
Logan/Knightwing: So what are you getting at, you deadbeat!?
Spiritus: Thermokinesis/Pyrokinesis is one of the most versatile and volatile abilities one can have as a meta-human or hybrid. Manipulating heat can come in various subtypes. One of which is converting heat energy into sound energy. In my experience with Lisa, she knew how dangerous my powers can be so I studied its entropy. To do that, whether esoteric or mundane heat will be absorbed as per thermodynamics. Endothermic method and transferring thermal energy into kinetic energy to create vibrations from the atoms from the air… thus creating sounds. With this, the air current will be rapidly cooled and freeze if I continue the process.
Logan/Knightwing: So you apply how air conditioners and refrigerators work even in magics. Thermoacoustic Refrigeration by absorbing heat in a rapid state, cooling it in the process.
Spiritus: Now you know why I became the Maverick agent of magics and discord.
Logan/Knightwing: Still! If I produce enough heat and ionization, I can make my flames into electric current and plasma that will be near impossible to freeze. [Logan then supercharge the heat of his wing, turning it into rainbow plasma.]
Spiritus: Wise and competent. As I expect from my son!
Logan/Knightwing: Get ready, father! I will send you back to us!
Spiritus: Alright then. I can't call out Camael and make this into a perfect transformation but this will do. [Spiritus then create a spectral duplicate of himself made of thermal energy].
Logan/Knightwing: Relying on numbers won't do you any good!
Spiritus then sumoned a flurry of flaming swords and sends them flying towards Logan. Logan then parries and deflects them by spinning his spear. His wings also salvos fiery feathers to stop the incoming projectiles. The spectral clone the punches Logan from behind, lowering his guard. Spiritus then heats his body with his own flames which in form, ionizes and rapidly charges every cell on the Maverick's body, creating a blazing aura and the heat electrifies his surrounding. He then charges at the vulnerable Logan but the angel's wings blocked the incoming punch and protected Logan from the damage. Still, the sheer force of the strike launched Logan backwards, almost at the spectators area of Order's Sanctuary.
Sam/Genorocker: So that's why Luna and Lincoln's powers seemed to be complimentary.
Lina/Star Hanabi: What do you mean, mom?
Sam/Genorocker: Luna can control electricity and become Lightning incarnate herself. She can travel through electric currents such as satellite/Wi-Fi, wires, and even in our gadgets. She can also use electromagnetic properties of her lightning to create latches and whips on metals. Lightning is another form of fire since cavemen discovered fire when lightning strikes a tree and the prophet Elijah offered an sacrifice and Ehyeh throws thunderbolt at the altar to silence the false worshipers. The only difference of fire and lightning are heat and frequency. While flame focuses on heat and oxidation of air and materials; lightning's heat focuses on rapidness, friction and sometimes ionization of molecules. Basically both are considered as plasma, the fourth state of matter.
Lisa/Omniscience: You studied well. Yes that is indeed true but I'm not going to mention some of the things you missed. But yes, Lincoln did study the versatility and volatility of his Thermokinetic powers and learned them. But this was before the whole regime started. Back then, his mind was clouded with grief and his intentions of peace is filled with hatred. But to think that Lincoln and Luna's powers aren't that too different, considering that Luna is like a guardian figure for him… could it be fate, mere circumstance, coincidence or planned?
The father and son still continued to fight while the spectators are watching. Logan used one of his angelic plasma wings and turns it into a claw arm to stop Spiritus's spectral copy. The other wing also turned an arm and stopped the real Spiritus and Logan slammed the spectral copy to Spiritus before throwing him. This agitated the Maverick and fired a ball of scorching plasma at Logan. This time, Logan failed to block and fell back. Both stood up and clashes once more with their weapons. As each impact of the metal made this clanging sound, Spiritus parries the spear upward causing Logan to let go. The spear fell to Spiritus' hands and thrusts it to Logan. The tip of the lance barely pierced Logan's stomach as the two plasma wings/claws stopped the Maverick's hands before it could reach him. Logan then threw a fiery punch at Spiritus' face and grabs the spear back. This time, a revenge attack came through as Logan was the one that jousts the lance to Spiritus, sending him back.
Spiritus: It end here and now!
Logan/Knightwing: I'll stop you no matter what!
Spiritus: Behold the truth. Power is law! Without it, you can't protect anyone, even yourself! [Spiritus creates a rather massive ball of prominence flames.] Omega Nova!
Spiritus then launches the ball of flaming plasma that can be compared to the sun or to Jupiter if it ever was a flaming ball of hot gas [or an even larger star than the sun itself]. Logan is about to come face-to-face with a giant sun but his resolve did not waver. Logan then flew up high and readily thrusts his lance to the attack with fiery power. It was enough to push the ball of plasma but only to stop it at its tracks for a moment. Logan still needs power to permanently stop it.
Logan/Knightwing: Too… strong… my Angel Trigger… might not… last… longer!
But the son haven't given up. He remembers something…
Uriel: This spear is the Longinus. Once wielded by Ra in Egypt's Sanctum, Shurima. It has the power to harness the Sun and give light to the way. It once lost it's power until a Roman soldier pierced it at the sides of the Saviour. Now it's yours. You can do it, my grandson!
Logan then is able to use the spear's power and absorbed the Omega Nova's power until he pierce through it and successfully dissipates the massive Sun. The spear then emits powerful surge of energy from absorbing the attack. Logan used this opportunity to strike his father down, like a fast approaching meteor or comet. But as he nears the Maverick, the energy surge suddenly vanish as Logan is left standing, pointing the spear at Spiritus' face. A great yell then erupted.
Ehyeh: That is enough!
Logan/Knightwing: What… happened?
Ehyeh: I took the massive energy into my body. You are about to kill him, not knock him down. I allowed this to happen but I needed to step my bounds when it went too far.
Pandora: Brother, why interrupt?
Ehyeh: We cannot interfere with the affairs of mortals but even I still send envoys to guide them. Uriel, you sneaky one. I knew this Logan fellow will receive so much power but to witness it bare. Pandora, I apologize but I cannot let the Maverick die on us. And besides, we can both agree that we have a clear winner here.
Pandora: Then it is a good thing you interfered since I don't want the Maverick to die on them either. Yes, it is indeed clear… Logan is victorious on this duel.
Ehyeh: [nods] As for you all… Children, my children. You know how much I hate it when you all try to kill each other. Yes, I allowed wars but tolerance doesn't mean approval. I was displeased of it, disappointed at it but I thought you'll learn peace and appreciation when from it. As such, I allowed this fight but… I cannot let things go too far either.
Solomon/Dr. Braniac: We understood Your Holiness, but you mentioned that Logan is victorious. Does it mean?
Pandora: Yes. Materia raised a good champion. As reward, you all can go home to this future timeline that you all had desired. A future of Creation. As for Spiritus, what do you have to say for yourself?
Spiritus: I lost and I can humbly accept that. Even you, the Primordial Twins had come to an agreement. Nothing I can do to change that. And I was about to lose on that last assault either. But now that I am defeated…
Ehyeh: You will go home with them, just as promised. Materia and Spiritus… no, Erin, lover of Renzo; Lincoln, son of Rita and Lynn Loud Sr. I hereby relieve you of your duties as Mavericks. You are free to go.
Materia/Erin: What now then?
Ehyeh: My Son and Enoch/Metatron are still here anyways. They will be responsible on maintaining the future until another one takes their places once more. Let someone else take this burden. It has been decided… It has been done.
Spiritus then walked towards Logan and the rest of the Hatchling.
Spiritus/Lincoln: I…
Logan/Knightwing: Save it. When we get home, you better fulfil your promise… not just to Lina, or to stepmother Ronnie… but to all of us.
The champions then bid their goodbyes to the Primordial Twins. Renzo/Stretcher then asked something.
Renzo/Stretcher: What about her? She's still dead in this reality and to any other reality [Smoking Wrecker's Prime Loud-Verse: Heroes].
Ehyeh: That can be arranged. Here's a manikin of her, a vessel that only needs a SOUL egg crafted from Scala ad Caelum's reincarnation chambers. The process wont be long until her Maverick SOUL is turned into a SOUL egg. Just you wait for it.
With a snap from Ieouah/Ehyeh's fingers, they all returned to the world they originally came from. Even the shipwreck that led them here in The World That Never Did had also been returned.
Pandora: I'm going to miss them. But now, what do we do here in our playground? They had finally stopped bothering us and in time our little chess game of destiny will eventually start anew.
Ehyeh: I know, dear sister. For now, let us bask for this moment's reprieve. Once we do, we will continue on maintaining the balance of reality and play another game of destiny. I will miss them too but… like all good things…
Pandora: It will come to an end. But let's face facts here brother… nothing ever ends, right.
Ehyeh: Yes… nothing will. The cycle keep on going.
-Deus Ex Machina: Concordia Fatum-
[If you can remember the Creation ending for Dawn of Injustice… basically the same happened. If you don't know, well I'm going to mention it anyways.]
Several month later.
Lincoln: Hi welcome to Loud Bistro. May I take your order?
Lincoln and his children and wives (except Tabby, Haiku and Polly) run the Lynn's table into a newly opened bistro. Two elderly came to visit and had a grand feast from their table.
Rita: I am so proud of you Lincoln.
Lynn Sr.: My son, thank you for all this. And finally you've finally grown.
Lincoln: Thanks mom, and dad.
Lita Rochelle: Come on Pop-pop and Gran-Gran. Let's all take a photo.
The Phoenix Hatchlings all formed a wacky photo with their grandparents. Meanwhile Clyde is at the cemetery placing a commemoration flowers to two graves, his two dads. Replicate and his whole crew, nowhere to be found. Lori and Bobby lived a somewhat chaotic life with their new children, especially Roby and Rory's little sister: Amanda. Leni moved on and continued her work as a fashion and clothes saleslady, along with her friends. Luan still at her gigs, but with Jor-El they had time to make parties at the bistro. Maggie and the rogues traveled to all over the world. Even if her powers are sealed and only to be used for emergency only, she still keeps an eye out for trouble. Lucy, Haiku and Rocky continued their work in the Arctic Reapers police and detective agency, keeping occult and mystical phenomena in check so that the order and peace prevails. Some girls decided that it is good to have a vacation. Lana worked as a zoo-keeper and car repairmen with her child and husband. Lola and her daughter continued their shopaholic tendency (With her husband: Winston's money, of course). As teacher and governor, Lisa ensure that higher priorities are aimed on education and fighting discrimination, poverty, and crime. Lily finally got a job as an art teacher and botanist at the academy for the Gifted. Of course, I forgot to mention, with her fiancee.
Whatever happened to Chandler and his lover, well they settled in an island. The Scarlet Arrows are now aimed to stop terrorism in Philippines while the Tennyson's are somewhere in space yet again. Luna is finally several months pregnant so Lina and Eclipse are expecting a younger sibling to be with. Everything is the way it should be, peaceful. Although some chaos is because of family love, that's the only acceptable form of chaos and not something else. Emerson is at a journey of know himself better so I suggested a long travel across the globe, from Rome to Egypt, Greece, Israel, China and Japan. That will be a long travel but he is a long way towards redemption. Earth has finally been free from injustices and life goes on.
Lincoln: And if someone ask if will I trade this for all the power in the world. They already know the answer…
However, sometimes they still have this dream… a dream that seemed so real to them. A dream that they traversed a world of barrenness, ready and waiting for imagination to run wild and create a future. A world… that never did. And in this world, so much had happened. They meet with familiar strangers… people that they haven't met yet but seemed familiar to them.
Lisa/Omniscience: As you can see, this portal had been opened once more and now we shall meet our counterparts.
Solomon/Dr. Braniac: And who knows, maybe they can answer the meaning of our dreams. Just as the Soothsayer said, they hold they key on preserving this dream-like memories.
Lincoln/The Phoenix: Let's do this. Once we finished, I can go back in spending time with my Hatchlings and my wives.
[I removed the King part since he's retired from the regime but still keep tabs.]
The portal opens and from it, five figures emerges. These figures are familiar to them and seemed that they too are expecting this…
Lisa/Omniscience: Well then… welcome to our world.
They were Richard/Blink [former: Localeep], Rachel/Shard, Laney/Echo, Leopold/Ultra Infans, and the Smoking Wrecker's version of Lyle[Toby]/Sunspot holding a baby version of Lita[Rochell]/Firesurge.
Lyle[Toby]/Sunspot: By the way… you might wanna save some room for more…
Figures from the Smoking Wrecker's Loud-Verse: Heroes appeared. It seemed that the doppelgangers will meet in this happy ending that the heroes had successfully obtained.
Chaos will ensure, but Harmony will always endure and come… Love will continue the cycle. Peace had prevailed.
And something that both Lincolns [Phoenix and Firecracker] will agree upon. They wouldn't trade it for the world… or the worlds of the Many-Verse.
