If the quiet atmosphere on the deck was common, Nami wouldn't have been as worried as she was, however, she made her way out of the cartography room, where she was busy working on one of her maps, and made her way out onto the deck. She glanced around the area, Zoro and Robin were the only ones present, with the exception of Jinbei, who was steering the ship. If she listened carefully, she could hear Usopp and Franky down in their workshops, and Brook having a quiet snooze in the boys room beneath her. Chopper was probably in his office, working on new medicine, and Sanji was obviously in the kitchen.
She looked to the sky on feeling the weather and confirmed her suspicions about the rain. She made her way down to the grassy field of their main deck, to cross over to the bow. She climbed up the stairs, and Jinbei noticed her right away.
"There's gonna be a heavy rain due west." she stated, in which he nodded in return, before taking the precautions to avoid it. She went up to the Sunny's head, and peered over it.
"Luffy hasn't been there all day." Jinbei announced, before she saw its vacant seat.
She frowned, and climbed down, just as the rain began to pour. She had expected it, so she didn't think much of it, and neither did Zoro apparently, as he decided to sleep through the whole thing. Robin had taken cover inside, on feeling the first few drops, holding her book to her chest as to make sure it didn't get wet. The ship began to sway a little too high with the frantic waves, and Nami became a little more worried about her captain.
Her next destination was the kitchen, and when she got there she was disappointed to see only Sanji and Robin present. "Have you seen Luffy?"
"No, Nami-san, has he done something?" Sanji asked.
"No, no," Nami waved her hand in dismissal, and turned to Robin.
"Last I saw him he was going up above the cabin." Robin replied, "but that was hours ago. He might have fallen overboard and drowned."
"Thanks, Robin," Nami replied, dismissing the horrible thought of Luffy's death, and left the kitchen.
"Ah, Nami-san! It's pouring!" Sanji cried as she left, but she paid it no mind.
She made her way up to the gardens, and peaked around. Shivering under the downpour of rain. Finally, she caught a glimpse of red in the confines of her mikans. She made her way over, and saw her captain curled up in a ball, sleeping.
The branches of the trees slightly hindered the pelt of rain, and she crouched under then to join him. He looked sad, as he curled himself tighter together. She brushed a hand against his face, moving the wet hair from his forehead, though it didn't do too much as more water dripped onto his face from the branches.
"Luffy?" she asked softly, before feeling the ship tilt, and she caught herself on her trees before falling backwards, but the same couldn't be said for the sleeping boy, as he slid into her.
He still didn't wake up, so she pulled his head up onto her thighs for a better pillow than the hard ship, even if it was in her mini mikan grove. His soft breathing against her thigh contrasted the chill she felt from the rain, and she brushed a hand over his head, clearing his forehead from his hair once more. However, instead of removing her hand as she had done before, she continued to comb his hair backwards. She looked down at his sad expression and watched as it slowly creeped into a peaceful one.
