The nightmares were getting bad again, there was no doubt about that. It started off simple, Kai would toss and turn all night to the point Hari had to hold him so he would stay still, otherwise he wasn't able to get any sleep. Hari thought little of it, that maybe Kai was just being a little restless at night, but that's when it got a bit worse. Eventually he would find excuses to stay awake at night to keep his mind busy, often Hari would find him only pacing back and forth in his office. Hari would have to force him to go to bed, but there wasn't much he could do after that point, which left with more tossing and turning. If he could make it so he'd have the nightmares instead of Kai he would've done so in a heartbeat, he hated seeing him suffering so much, he just wished he'd tell him what he was having nightmares about so he could try to help him.

"You're okay," Hari mumbled as he was holding Kai again, stroking his hair to try to reassure him that whatever he thought he was going through wasn't real. He wrapped his arms around Kai, whose back was to him in the bed. He rested his chin on his shoulder, as sleep deprived as he was from this he wasn't going to sleep while Kai was having another episode.

"Don't…" Kai mumbled in his sleep, referring to whatever he was going through in his dreams.

"It's okay…" Hari tried again, "it's not real." He gently grabbed his hand, holding it loosely but would give it a small squeeze to give him some comfort.

Kai began to tremble at the touch, interpreting it as a part of his dream where he was getting attacked and started fighting against his touch. Every dream was the same for him, it was the worst night of his childhood, when his father physically abused him before kicking him out on the streets. The entire time he was striking at the child he was calling him a monster only because of his Quirk, a Quirk that he rarely used or had control of. Kai never talked about his parents or how he ended up alone on the streets, but the Boss always had a feeling…

Hari sat up, flipping on the bedside light, he knew better than to try shaking Kai awake, last time he did that he ended up getting smacked in the jaw, but he was lucky Kai didn't activate his Quirk out of fight or flight. The only thing he could do right now was try to comfort him the best he could and hope he'll break out of his nightmare on his own. Hari wrapped an arm around Kai, rolling him over until he was pressed against his side then began rubbing his back.

"Don't leave…" Kai said in his sleep, tightly gripping onto Hari's shirt, a tear running down his cheek.

"I'm not going anywhere, don't worry."
