Jay panted hard. He could barely keep awake as his head pounded. He screamed for them to stop. For them to get off her. But he knew that they wouldn't. No matter how much they screamed in protest. He wanted to die at this point. The screams turned into crying and Jay hung his head in horror of what just happened. Then he felt a hand stroke the inside of his thigh. They kept getting higher until… Jay jerked his head up and his eyes went wide, and he instinctively raised a knee to protect his stuff. His knee landed in the guy's ribcage and that seemed to piss him off. He pulled Jays pants off as another guy freed the bindings on his wrists from the chain, but kept his hands bound together. He hastily threw him on the ground. One of them held his legs down as the other climbed on him. Jay thrashed and screamed.
"Jay!" Someone called out. He continued thrashing and screaming. He knew what was coming as the guy straddled his neck.
"They're gonna come for you." He screamed. He tried turning his head away but his jaw was roughly gripped and jerked back up. Tears filled his eyes. His heart pounded out of his chest.
"Jay!" a female voice called out.
"Awwwwwww, don't cry, Detective." the man taunted.
"Please don't do this," Jay whispered. He could hear Maddison yelling.
The guy grinned as he continued unzipping his pants.
"JAY. WAKE UP!" He blinked and he wasn't there anymore. He wasn't in that dark, dingy room. Everything was blurry and he did not know where he was. There was a blurry figure leaning above him. Had he just lost consciousness and they were waiting for him to wake up to start the torturous act again? Had they taken him somewhere? Why had they moved him?
"Get away from me." He growled at the figure, panting. He went to swing at the figure. Hailey narrowly missed Jay's fist before she retreated out of his punching range.
"JAY. ITS ME. ITS HAILEY UPTON." Jay blinked his eyes a few times and the figure started getting clearer. Hailey could see that the dots were starting to connect.
"Ha-H- Hailey?"
"It's me." Hailey could see Jay shaking.
"I'm sorry."
Before Hailey could answer, Jay jumped up from the bed and stumbled to the bathroom, lifting up the toilet seat and squatting in front of it. Hailey quickly followed and was there, rubbing his back when the first wretch sounded. Jay was a mixture of sobs and wretches as tears streamed down his cheeks. Odd noises escaped Jay's mouth.
Hailey continued rubbing his back as last night's dinner finished making its reappearance.
Hailey reached up and grabbed a Dixie cup off Jay's counter. She stood up and put some water in it before kneeling back down.
"Here. Rinse and spit a couple times."
Jay did as he was told and slumped back on his butt. Hailey tossed to cup in the trash and flushed the toilet. She sat against the wall and Jay leaned back on her, crying.
"You're okay Jay. You're safe now." She knew Jay had a lot of built-up grief and sorrow and anger from his army days, but she couldn't imagine what he was going through right now. When Booth had tried to rape her, she had gone through therapy, and it had helped, but at the end of the day she stuffed the memories inside a little box and hoped to forget them. But Jay very much so remembered being raped. And he relived it when he closed his eyes at night.
He sucked in sharp breaths and his body had a slight tremor against hers. She had handled a few of his nightmares but never this bad.
"Remember what I say about breathing, Jay. In through the nose, out through the mouth," she coaxed. He tried to copy her. After a while his sobbing settled down into sniffles.
"I'm right here and I won't judge if you want to talk about it." Jay nodded his head.
"I-I" Jay.
"Whenever you're ready, Jay."
The sniffles settled down after a while and Jay spoke up.
"I don't want to talk about this one. It's too scary and I just want to forget about it."
Jay was never gonna forget what happened. And Hailey worried that he woke up so afraid that he threw up.
"You want anything? You want to stay up? Go to bed?"
"What time is it?"
"Umm I don't know"
Jay looked at his watch and groaned.
"It's almost 4 am. I want to go back to bed."
"Wanna brush your teeth or wash your face or anything before?"
"Yeah." Jay brushed his teeth and washed his face. As they went back to bed Hailey prayed that Jay would sleep peacefully through the rest of the night.
They laid facing each other for a while before Jay scooted in closer, and closer and wrapped his arms around Hailey so that he was holding her in his arms. Hailey figured it made him feel safe. She put her head in the crook of his neck and relished the warmth of his skin. And so they fell asleep.
Jay woke up still feeling depressed from the night before. He had a sudden urge to go for a run. He carefully slid out of the bed, making sure not to jostle Hailey, noticing the early morning sunrise. He changed into a generic black shirt and shorts and wrote a quick note before grabbing socks from the basket of clean laundry he had to put away and his sneakers and stepping out of the front door. He sat on the top stair of the closest stairs, listening to birds chirping as he put his socks and shoes on. He started his journey, realising he hadn't eaten anything but shrugged it off. He made it a good distance, occasionally waving at people, before starting to feel nauseous. He decided to run to the nearest breakfast place. As his feet hit the ground it became harder to focus on anything, including sounds. His world suddenly twisted upon itself, and he felt the sensation of falling, before his head hit something hard and everything went black.
