Hello everybody! Themusicmaniac here!
Happy Kwanzaa to those who celebrate!
SciFiGirl253: Thank you! I am really excited for this portion of the story, and I've gotta admit, this is one of my favorite chapters to write!
Chapter eleven is here everybody! So find wherever your favorite reading spot is, get comfy, and strap in.
Cause things get dangerous.
*Note: humans do NOT exist in this universe, but I decided to translate other human characters in it. Also, I really don't know how to write out Quackerjack's laugh so sorry:D
Enjoy!
"Ohohohoo! Where is this?" Quackerjack said, rubbing his hands together.
"This appears to be some sort of… science lab." Liquidator said, looking around uncertainly.
"Wherever this is, the appliances look nice." Megavolt whistled at a nearby lightbulb.
"Who are these people?" Scrooge asked, looking around at the Fearsome Four in front of him.
"Quakcerjack. Bushroot." I started,
"The Liquidator, Megavolt- in other words." Dewey continued, as we both said "The Fearsome Four."
"The Fearsome who?" Scrooge said, confused. "Whoever they are, we can take on these villains. What do they have that we-" At that moment Megavolt shot electricity through the air, as I heard Bulba explaining to them that he would give them control of the city if they became part of Bulba Supervillain Solutions. It looks like they agreed.
"We need to get help." I said, as the four of them dashed for us. It wasn't a fair fight. I shot acorns at Quackerjack, but Bushroot used them to immediately grow trees and catch Huey and Louie. I pulled Dewey outside the lab, as the Liquidator caught scrooge.
"Dewey, go." Dewey stared at me, confused. I repeated my statement, "Get help. Find Darkwing and Launchpad and Gosalyn and send an SOS."
"My brothers are in there, I have to help them."
"You would be helping them." I looked through the crack in the door and saw Bulba throw Scrooge into the Ramrod. "Those are the fearsome four, we can't do it with the normal two of us. You have helped us so much already and I know you can handle a lot but… electricity and other superpowers?"
"I've fought things like this before." Dewey sighed. "But it would help to have the others with us. You're right. Let's go."
We ran for the stairwell, heading down as fast as we could. Three flights towards the bottom, just as I was starting to pant, we heard a voice.
"Ohohohohooo! It's Playtime!" I gasped and looked up. Quackerjack was looking down at us. I grabbed Dewey's hand and ran even faster down the stairs, pulling open the door to the main entrance. Megavolt was practically making out with a lightbulb in the corner of the room, but Bushroot caught sight of us and moved towards us. We dashed to the door, and opened the doors into the city.
"That was a close one, Dew..."
I realized I wasn't holding Dewey's hand anymore.
Stiffly, I looked back at the building, where Bushroot was staring at me through the window and Dewey was inside the building.
With the villains.
I had to save him.
I ran towards the building, as I saw the lawn around me move to life, and grow so large, I couldn't even see the building anymore. I was in a living lawn.
"Can't find your way through the weeds?" I noticed water pooling at my feet, and I started running. I didn't care where, I just needed to get out of this.
"Call the Liquidator for a new pool installation!" I tripped and fell on my face in the mud, sliding to get back up again as a tidal wave carried me through the lawn and onto wet pavement. Coughing up water, I got back up again and ran for the first place I could see: the bridge.
Panting, I reached an alleyway ten blocks from the lab.
"That… that was a nightmare!" I said to myself, slumping against a wall. I felt hot tears roll down my cheeks as I attempted to process what had just happened.
We failed to find anything.
I could only watch as Gosalyn faced my worst fear and nearly died.
I was caught by Bulba, who brought the Fearsome Four here.
Dewey and I escaped, only for him to be caught.
I let him get caught.
I let him get caught.
I… can't believe I let him get caught.
I laid my head against my knees, and took in a shaky breath.
And sobbed. I was sobbing for my lost family, for my lost dimension.
I was crying for my lost friends, for the failed protection of both Gosalyn and Dewey.
I was crying for myself, and the identity that I had lost in my other dimension.
I looked in a puddle next to me.
I didn't know who I was anymore. I wiped my teary, mud streaked face.
"Fancy seeing you here." I whipped my head to the entrance of the alleyway and saw Bonkers standing there once again.
"Bonkers!" I choked, and stood up to meet him. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he hugged me back.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd think you like hanging around in creepy, abandoned alleyways." I laughed and pulled out of the hug, wiping more tears from my face. "What are you doing here?"
"Bulba brought the Fearsome Four into your dimension."
"The who-" Bonkers said, tilting his head to the side.
"The Fearsome- supervillains." I corrected, realizing that he doesn't know who the fearsome four are, or what it means that they're here. "I barely escaped. Bonkers, I left Dewey in there!"
Bonkers face morphed into a serious one. "Well, did you do it on purpose?"
"Well no, but-" Bonkers shook his head.
"One person can only do so much. That's why policemen have partners, like Lucky, or Miranda."
"Lucky?" I said.
"He was my partner, see?" Bonkers took out a wallet with a long, long line of pictures, some featured him with a doglike creature that somewhat resembled Lucky Piquel. "We went through so much together. I remember it like yesterday." He shook his wallet, and all the photos snapped inside. He put the wallet back into his pocket.
"Anyway, we need to get back to the station, and warn everyone." Bonkers walked to the wall and peeked outside the alleyway.
"No." I said, standing with my arms crossed.
"No?" Bonkers asked, looking back at me.
"You go to the station and warn the force, I'll warn Darkwing." I explained, taking my acorn gun out of my backpack.
"Darkwing Duck?"
"Yes." I said, matter of factly, wiping my eyes. "He knows these villians, even if they are from different dimensions. He's our best bet at beating them."
"Are you sure you'll be okay alone?" Bonkers asked, his tail flicking in the air.
"Yeah." I said, peeking behind the other wall to ensure no one was there. "Besides, I've run the route before. All I need to do is head for the big bridge, right?"
"Correct, my friend!" Bonkers said jumping up and holding a hand out. I high fived him, and gave him a smile.
"There's the Valerie I know!" Bonkers said, as we headed towards the entrance of the alleyway. "Lay low, get there safe, don't get caught." Bonkers gave me a thumbs up and we headed our separate ways.
I don't know what it is with Bonkers and alleyways, but I felt he was just the friend Valerie needed to get going. Also, I love him and, who knows, maybe someday I'll write a story for him.
Maybe.
Anyways, see you guys next week, don't forget to drink water (and a favorite holdiay drink) and be safe!
