Chapter 10
The next weekend came by quickly. Fred and Natalie planned to go to the Ravenclaw versus Hufflepuff Quidditch match together and then going on their date in the Gryffindor common room afterwards. George and Lee were having a grand ole time messing with the two others. "Lee?" George began as the four were eating breakfast before the match.
"Why yes, my good friend George?"
"Would I be able to borrow a jumper in case I get cold at night?" George put his head on Lee's shoulder. "I'm so fragile and so unlike my Slytherin colors." He put the back of his head and pretended to sigh like a damsel in distress.
Natalie rolled her pale eyes while Fred threw a piece of toast at the two boys heads. "Shove off you too. You know we don't act like that."
Lee laughed. "If you two ever did that, I would throw up right in front of you."
Natalie laughed. "You are so dramatic."
"That's my middle name!" Lee exclaimed as he took a swig of pumpkin juice. "I better be off. I have to go over the roster names with Madame Hooch before the game."
George jokingly grabbed at his hand. "Don't leave me to be a third wheel!"
"Oh, you will survive. Maybe you'll get lucky and she will confuse you two and you'll get a kiss." Lee pretended to kiss George's cheek as George swatted him away from his face.
Once they were done with breakfast, the three students walked down to the Quidditch pitch. Natalie was secretly cheering for Hufflepuff, but she wouldn't tell the boys that. If Ravenclaw wins, Gryffindor still has a chance at the cup, and they were Slytherin's only real competition.
The twins cheered loudly whenever Ravenclaw made points and sighed with disappointment when Hufflepuff scored. The match did not last very long, however. The Gryffindor's got their wish. Ravenclaw flattened Hufflepuff in a very short amount of time. "We still got a chance, Fred!" George shook his twins' shoulders excitedly.
"Watch out, Natalie." Fred said jokingly.
"I'm not too worried." Natalie lied coolly.
"Sure you are. You have to face one of the best Gryffindor teams that they've had in a while." George smirked at the Slytherin. "Who's your star player? Malfoy? What a joke."
"Malfoy might be a prick but he's not a bad flyer and you know that. He gives Potter a run for his money every time we face Gryffindor last time I checked." Natalie stuck out her tongue at George.
The walk back to the castle was short since they were bickering about Quidditch the entire way. George and Lee turned towards Fred and Natalie when they got to the Fat Lady. "Cover the snake's ears." Lee said jokingly.
Fred covered Natalie's ears while resting his chin on the top of her head. "Don't be ridiculous. No one wants to sneak into the Gryffindor Common Room."
Once they said the password, Fred removed his hands over her ears and laughed. "Says the girl who laid on a stone floor for a couple hours when we were eleven because she didn't want us seeing what the Slytherin Common Room looks like."
Natalie got a little pink. "I forgot about that."
"Mmhmm… sure you did." George laughed.
When they all climbed into the common room, Fred led Natalie over to a corner where they wouldn't be bothered. There were plush red armchairs that they sat in. George and Lee disappeared through one of the other openings, the boys dormitory Natalie assumed. "So…" Fred began, "Whatcha wanna do today?"
"We could play Wizards Chess?"
"I'll do anything to get out of homework. I was worried you were going to say that." Fred laughed and went off to grab his old, battered set of wizard's chess.
Natalie felt very out of place in the Gryffindor common room. The fire made the room way too hot and stuffy. It was also quite loud like no one respected the few people who were trying to get homework done. The Slytherin common room would never get this crazy. When she was halfway through wondering if it was always like this, Fred returned with the chess board.
It was hard to play at first because the chess pieces knew and trusted Fred. They didn't know Natalie since she normally just watched Fred and George play. They were arguing with her about what moves to make.
After Natalie won 2 and Fred won 3, he decided that now was a good time to wrap up the game. "That's no fair, you're just saying that because you won the last round."
"Maybe so. What're you going to do about it? It's my chess board and if I tell the pieces that we are done playing, they'll be done." He smirked at her.
She knew he was right. She hated losing. Especially to him.
"Besides, you chose first, now I get to choose second what we do."
"Oh? And what exactly do you have planned?" Natalie smiled as she helped him put away the chess pieces.
"Let's just hangout and enjoy each other's company." Fred suggested.
"Sounds very boring." Natalie jokingly complained.
"Come on. We hardly ever just alone time the two of us. Let's make the most out of it."
"It's a little stuffy in here. Can we use the map and go to a hiding spot at least while we hangout?" She suggested looking around the common room. She had a feeling that a few of the older students knew she wasn't a Gryffindor and it made her nervous. What were people saying?
Fred didn't mind changing location. He was excited to sneak out just as much as her. He ran off to grab the map and his wand. Natalie waited for him to return and then the two popped up from the too plush of armchairs. "Ready, Slytherin?"
"Ready, Gryffindor."
