Hello dear readers,
I had a doubt to clear.
Should I stop changing the POV so much?
I mean life is like that after all. We can only see the world through our perspective lenses; who does what and why, we rarely find out their Sides of the story.
I only wanted to give depth and dimensions to the characters.
Please give your suggestions in the reviews, I would love to know.
Thank you for reading. Li
I would love to have some reviews.
P.s. I don't own Harry Potter, I am merely borrowing them. I promise I will put them all back where I found them.
"Was it a good idea, forcing her like that?" Ginny said exasperated.
Harry glared at her, "You think I did it for fun?"
"You and your mule headed sons. When are you gonna learn some tact."
"Yes. They are my sons and my daughter. Thank you for you unhelpful input."
"For merlin's sake keep your stupid pride aside...
Draco pinched the bridge of his nose as the two of them continued to argue. He hadn't lied, when he had told Lily, that it had taken a long time and much hard work for them all to be okay with one another and have amicable relations. But there were times when the long forgotten animosity rose its head between Harry and Ginny. Guess, no matter how much you try, after a broken marriage, no couple can go back to being great friends.
Draco and Ginny got along flawlessly though, they could be called best friends by schoolgirl standards, yet Harry and Ginny were far from perfect.
May be it was because the fact that they shared between them, in the form of their children, higher stakes which either of the can't afford to mess up. Neither of them shared that with Draco. They didn't hate one another, Harry and Ginny, if anything they cared about one another like a family should. They usually just took more time to come to a mutual understanding, given that they both had volatile personalities. He often wondered, how in the world did they survive enough to sire three children.
Usually he would leave them to come to their understanding to come on their own, while he took a walk around, or hung out with Blaise or Islet, but today was different. The issue was far too sensitive to be left up to volatile Gryffindors. Draco was far too involved in the issue to let them take their own sweet time to put aside their pride and stupidity. So he took lead,
"Silence." He said with a loud and stern voice. The pair had been standing ready for a face off of verbal blows. To Draco's words both of them turned to look at him with curious expressions, no doubt wondering about why he was butting in when he hadn't done so before.
"You two are adults, behave like it." He told them. "We have talked with Lily, and we have already made all the arrangements we could for now, to make her life easier. Now you two sit down. None of you get to make decisions between you. Me and my son are as much involved in this as you two and Lily."
Both of them were glaring at him. Draco raised at eyebrow at them, tapping his finger on his folded arms. Waiting for them to comply with this demand. The former Gryffindors continued to glare at him, then turned to give each other dirty looks. Harry then turned and looked at Draco, recognising his husband's mood and quietly sat down. The Head Auror had enough sense not to invoke the rage of his ex-spouse and his current spouse in the same day. Draco had trained him well. A moment later, Ginny flipped her red hair over her shoulder, stoic look on her face and sat down.
Draco let them settle down and waited for a few minutes to let them squirm. He can let them behave like idiots, no matter how much he loved them, for the matters that wouldn't concern him. He will definitely wouldn't let them leave him out of the conversations that involved him and his child. In the name of family, it can only go so far. And they did. They squirmed and then he started.
"Just say what you have to say, Malfoy. There is no need for your Intimidation tactics." Ginny told him, where as Harry cleverly kept his mouth shut, after all, when all would be said and done, he was gonna be left alone with Draco.
"Lily is carrying the Malfoy heir. There are responsibilities."
Both of them groaned. Draco narrowed his eyes at them.
"Can stop being a insufferable pureblood, Ever?" Harry threw at him, his face scrunched up in irritation.
"Shut up, Potter. What I am about to tell you is important. So listen carefully because it will affect both Lily and Scorpius." Draco took a deep breath, hoping to find the semblance of calm and collectedness.
"Malfoy's have a curse on them, that's why we have treasured our traditions and beliefs so dearly. The curse being that only one child can be sired by a Malfoy, in each generation. Lily and Scorpius has to get married For the child to be a Malfoy, without which it can't have Malfoy protection or name. If it doesn't have the Malfoy name, our family will die out."
Harry and Ginny didn't seem to know what to say to that. They did seemed to have opinions, but he supposed they were waiting for him to continue.
"The child won't be Potter either if a marriage doesn't take place. It will be a squib, and it won't be Able to have any magical surname, and it wouldn't be able to sire any child."
"WHAT!!" "THE HELL!" Both of them shouted, shocked look on their faces.
"What the hell are you getting at, Draco?" His husband asked him. Ginny seemed to have been petrified, the way she sat eerily still with her hands clasped in her hands. She shared at him wide eyed.
"Let me start over. Malfoys were cursed about 200 hundred years ago. The curse was that a Malfoy will have only one child in each generation. The witch who cursed us was out for vengeance from her lover, a Malfoy. When the curse actually started acting up, my ancestors realised that, we would never have brothers of sisters, we would be on our own, hence self preservation became our first priority to save our family lineage. But there was always a possibility that one bad descendent set on ruining the family. Hence they put a binding blood oath in themselves that will pass to every Malfoy ever born."
Draco continued o,
"Well the Malfoys had to find a way out of it if one of the disgraced man decides to ruin Malfoys chance to survive as a family name. So the loophole was that there would be only one magical child born, according to the curse, their was no greater shame than being born a squib to the old families. So Malfoys themselves put a curse that will ensure that a Bastard child won't be able to take away the chances of their survival. So any child born to a woman not married to a Malfoy, would be a squib and will remain childless."
Harry's mouth was life a fish in a water, not able to make out the words he will say. Ginny whereas looked like she was gonna explode, her nostrils flaring in anger.
"Look. I didn't say, Malfoys weren't cruel, but it is what it is. They have to be married, before the baby is born."
"What are you thinking of now?" Lily asked Scorpius.
It's been a while since they have been lying in the grass. He had been sure Lily had fallen asleep, with her head on his stomach, forming a T with their bodies.
"About how to tell about my fucked up family."
"Don't swear. You know I hate it."
"Yeah I know, but there isn't another phrase I can describe the situation by."
Lily frowned pulled herself up, to turn around and cross her legs. She wrapped her hands together, bracing herself for the normally stoic boy to elaborate on his family's 'fucked up' situation.
"Before I tell you about anything, I wana say a few things."
She was getting worried now. Thousands of weird scenarios going through her head, most of them streaming from the stories of the ancients Malfoy and Black family stories. No matter how different Draco and Her father's godfather Sirius might have turned out to be, the stories have always given her chills. Instinctively her hand went to her stomach, oh god her children were gonna be half Malfoy and one fourth Black. She felt the air around her going colder and colder.
Scorpius's eyes followed to her stomach. His eyes widened in shock.
"Oh no. They are safe." Then he sighed and looked away. "But I don't think your imagination is very far off."
"Scorpius!!!" Lily shouted at him, her voice shaky.
Scorpius groaned a little and rubbed his face with both of his hands, looking agitated.
"I am ruining this, ain't I?" He asked finally looking at her.
"Stop being so suspenseful, and just say it." Lily snapped at him, the horrific images still going through her head.
"Fine but I have a feeling that you are gonna run away when I tell you all about the Malfoy thing..." he hurried to continue given the glare. "That's why I wanna say a few things."
He took a deep breath.
"I love you. I have for a really long time. You never seemed to return any feelings for me, so I never thought anything will happen, given the situations of our fathers. I was a coward."
The air around her was warm now, the room seeming to change its whether according to the moods Scorpius was going through. She felt her heart beat going faster. He loved her. He had always loved her...
"Now that we are here, where our lives are bound together and the future is unknown. I want to start with being open and honest."
"I... I
"Please don't say anything. Let me finish." There was desperation in his voice, she wanted to throw her arms around him and soothe his worries. But she let him go on.
"I don't know how you feel for me, but we have known each other for a long time. We have always been compatible. We have been friends for so long, we can predict each other's moods and moves. I want to be part of our babies lives. I want to be their father, I want to live with them." He took her hand in his, holding on to her touch like it was his lifeline.
"I want to be married to their mother. I want to wake up next to you everyday, just like I did today. I want to see both of them grow holding your hand. I want to build a life with you."
Lily was taken to another world. She was in this dreamland, holding hands with this beautiful boy, who was her best friend. The father of her babies, asking her to marry him. Admitting his love for her. She really wanted to pinch herself to see if she was asleep.
Looking at him though she knew she couldn't be dreaming, because she has never seen that expression on his face. The expression of helplessness, his stormy eyes searching her face for a clue of her thoughts.
She smiled at him, forgetting everything and anything but him.
She went on her knees and put her hands on his shoulders. She leaned into him, touching her forehead to his. He closed his eyes, his hands going around her waist. He pulled her closer and sat her on his lap. She Pulled back from him to look at him, his eyes remained closed. She leaned in to kiss forehead, her fingers threading through his blonde locks.
"I love you too. I have admired you since the first time I saw you."
His eyes were glowing silver now, as he stared into her eyes, astonished. She smiled at him and slid hands down from his hair to wrap around his nape. She wriggled and got comfortable in his lap. He still looked to be in a trance.
"When you used to come to play with Al I was so fascinated by you, you were like another creature I wanted to explore, but I was too shy. Then when dad and Draco got married you started to talk to me. I was what 8 or 9 May be. You took interest in talking to me, praised me for my drawings, my handwriting and you played with me, you convinced Draco that I was old enough, and to teach me to fly in secret. I wanted to impress you, so I started putting extra effort in everything. For the longest time I wanted to be just like you. You were like a hero, a prince from a fairy tale. But you were my brother..."
He winced at that,
"Okay, stepbrother. I still think you were the reason I got to Be a Ravenclaw and I love every part of it. Because after you came along I became more conscious and I started concentrating on myself. I learned my love for literature, which literally changed my life. To be honest I have always given you credit for everything I am. I admired you, I wanted to be you and I hated you for being the best at everything. All of emotions have always strung from the thoughts of you. I have thought about you so much, that I didn't know when I started loving you. But it was my secret to keep, my little treasure that I always kept in my heart, because it was you."
The time seemed to stand still once she was done with her confession. Everything she had ever felt for him had come stumbling out. She had bared all that she was, for him to see and accept. She was already in his arms, but she was in his heart, that was what felt like a gift presented to her.
He reached up, his hand in her hair as he pulled her into a passionate kiss.
"Please marry me?" He said near her lips.
She was dizzy when their lips separated and He had just whispered to her. She pulled away and slowly got off his lap. She didn't meet his eye. She sat again in front of him, cross legged. This was gonna be a serious conversation, she knew.
She finally looked at him.
"Why?"
"Why not?"
"Because we could start by being together. Start a relationship like normal couple. Why can't we go slow?"
"I want to. Believe me I want to."
"Then why not. We are only 16. We have our whole lives to get married. We could build a life together. We could set an example for...
"Lily! You have to know the whole story. I want to marry you and I want to date you, then have a relationship and everything that comes in between and after. The point is we have to get married."
She didn't respond. She has already asked him a hundred times. She felt her frustration growing. How can one person ignite just varied range of emotions in one single day. She crossed her arms over her chest and waited for him to explain himself.
"It's the Malfoy curse. Only one magical child can be born in one generation...
"May I come in Headmistress?" James asked, knocking on the headmistress's office door. Most students were unaware of the location of her quarters, but not James. He has been to this office so many times, that sometimes he got dreams of this room, now that he was out of the school.
"Ofcourse Mr. Potter. Come in."
"Please call me, J, won't you?" James gave her a charming smile, after all she was his favourite.
The headmistress huffed. "Aren't you old enough to leave all that behind Mr. potter? Every year you would come to school with a new nick name for yourself. Did any of them ever stick?"
James Nodded towards a chair, non-verbally asking if he could sit. With her permission he took the seat and started.
"You see, Miss McGonagall, this time the name was given to me by the team. I think it will stick this time. And... the coach says hi."
James told her with a knowing smirk.
James had always been a friendly and easy going fellow. He never had the world on his shoulders like his father did, or burden of prejudice against Slytherins like his brother did. He was free and he quite liked his life. Things always came easily to him, because he worked methodically. People might think of him as reckless, whereas James thought about life without calculated risks, to be worthless. So he was quite charming at what he did. So it was obvious that he will grow close and friendly with his team's coach and owner, Capaldi Lorimer. Who had been the coach even before James's father was born, and been the owner of the Falmouth Falcons for 25 years. People might have been intimidated by him, as he was a formidable man, but James would always go beyond that; calculated risks you see. Wonder of all wonders was to find out that his school Headmistress, once an enthusiastic Quidditch player was the inspiration for Falcons owner and coach, Capaldi Lorimer's Quidditch career, being her classmate at Hogwarts. He had controlled the schoolboy glee he felt in finding out such a spicy tidbit about his old headmistress's private life, one night when he had been enjoying the most expensive and delicious glass of whiskey in an exclusive and private club with the older man. But James was an adult now, a professional Quidditch player and in the public eye; it wouldn't be wise for him to tattle like a schoolboy to his best friend. So he had kept the information secret.
Now he smirked at the reaction of the older woman in front of him, who was watching him with narrowed eyes.
"So you didn't just run out of the a Quidditch game to get here? You actually asked permission this time?" She asked.
"Ofcourse. I can't let Cap boot me out of the team, now can I? But when I mentioned I was going to Hogwarts, he wanted to come along." He paused before continuing. "You know to see if everything was fine with my family."
She raised her eyebrow at him, "Indeed. You father is very important man, important people would wana know if his family is alright."
"Sure that was the reason. So how are you Miss McGonagall?" James said.
"Less grey hair now that you and your cousin Fred are out of the school. How is he?" She told him.
"Aha playing favourites. You didn't ask me, how I am." He said putting on a hurt look on his face.
"As I said. Less grey hair." She told him.
He then cleared his throat remembering why he was here for.
"Actually I came here for a favour, Madam." Dropping his flirtatious 'Miss McGonagall' out of the statement, to show his sincerity. McGonagall raised her eyebrow, clearly noticing the change in his tone. She threaded her fingers on her table to lean in.
"Go on Mr. Potter."
"I want to stay here to help my sister and Scorp."
"Mr. Draco Malfoy is already here and so would be Mr. Potter with him, I am sure. Professor Lupin is here as well in case Miss Potter needs anything. I don't think you need to be here."
"Yes I know. But they will all be busy with their work. None of them would give Lily their complete focus. I can. Plus I have a proposition to sweeten the deal."
"Go on."
"You let me live here, let me help Lily. With whatever research that is needed for the condition, or to help Madam Pomfrey with needs on Lily's special condition. In return, I will be train the Quidditch team every weak, and each house without prejudice."
"We already...
"I am a professional Quidditch player and a popular one at that. What we are willing to offer is that I will train the Quidditch teams along with the professor Worthing, I will counsel the students wanting to play professionally, and which in turn will bring in more funding for the school, as Hogwarts will be going more steps ahead than any other school in order for their students to have brighter careers."
"And your team is ready to spare you for so long."
"We are not playing right now. Seasons don't start until May. Any training I might need will start around March. For two months I am yours."
"And your coach just agrees to all this just so you can have some time with your sister?"
James gave her his most mischievous smile. "Cap happens to think that it will be great publicity for our team. More than just donating to charity, we are uplifting the morale of young students. And..." Ofcourse he paused for dramatic effect, "he had agreed to come by regularly to keep up with my progress here, as I am the star player and have a huge responsibility to be the ambassador of the team for the students and parents."
"Oh." James keenly observed the McGonagall's expression. She was a tough nut to crack, yet he could see the subtle flush on her face. James smiled on the inside, if McGonagall is blushing like a school girl, then the Cap and Minnie must have had something more than just Quidditch in common. Just as he had suspected.
"So? What do you say, Miss McGonagall." She narrowed her eyes and tipped her head to look form above her spectacles, clearly trying to be intimidating.
"I will talk to the school board, then I ll let you know." Then she turned back to her parchments and started writing.
James sat there in the chair. Planning, obviously.
"Mr. Potter?"
"J please." He told her, batting his eye lids tipping his head to the side a little.
"You May leave." Clearly used to his charm.
He huffed.
"Fine. Can you please, Professor, consider my offer. I really do need to be here. I have a feeling that my sister and Scorpius are in much more trouble that seems on the surface." He said dropping his act and telling her honestly.
Now he had her undivided attention.
"Is there something you know that I am unaware of, Mr. Potter?"
"I don't. I have a hunch, and it has rarely been wrong. There is no harm in accepting my offer, only profit. Please?"
"Fine." She pulled out a clean parchment and started writing. "I will write to the committee now, the meeting will be this evening at 7. You better be ready with your proposal and your employers to back up your claims." She told him without looking up.
"Yes. Thank you. I will contact Cap right away."
While he was near the door, he heard the headmistress sigh loudly.
Once again James Sirius Potter had succeeded in getting under Minerva McGonagall's skin. He smirked triumphantly and skipped out to go find Teddy Lupin.
