It was the day of the U.A. Sports Festival and Momo found herself ready to compete with everyone. She had greeted her friends before arriving at the field and wished each other luck, to now find herself grouped up with everyone to run an obstacle race. Knowing that it's U.A., Momo was sure that there was more to it then it appeared, but she was busy taking stock of her competition. Her eyes had settled on Todoroki. She felt that he would be the biggest threat here. From past experience, she had an idea that he would probably try to freeze as many as he could at the entrance. He had the power to succeed too.

Her mind wandered briefly to the waiting room where Todoroki had challenged Midoirya during the festival. She was surprised at the exchange, not believing that they were in the same league as each other. Todoroki was just that strong. But she had to admit that while Midoriya had no hope of beating him, he at least didn't back down from the challenge.

Eyes continuing to survey the crowd she next came to Bakugou. He might be a problem. She had to admit his combat skills were effective. She thought upon his strange behavior from the other day but let it pass. It wouldn't help now, most likely. He had managed to raise the ire of the other classes with his attitude when the general courses came to declare war and the newcomer speech he gave.

Next she found Setsuna. Her Quirk was strong, and in a race like this could be she could make a good deal of use of it. She glanced past her at Iida, another potentially strong contender. His Engine Quirk would allow him to close gaps easily, so it would be the obstacles that would slow him down. There were others but those four were the ones she was immediately concerned about.

Suddenly Present Mic announced the start of the obstacle race. Momo fought against everyone, trying to push through the mass of people to get out of the stadium and to the course itself. When the air suddenly started to chill, she knew what was coming. Momo had been prepared and as soon as it came she created a pole, pushing herself into the air as the ice came and began to freeze other students into place. She was obviously not the only 1-A student to expect the attack and it seemed all her classmates had made it as well as 1-B and a number of students from the other courses.

Momo kept running until the first obstacle became clear, giant robots up ahead blocking their path. She watched as Todoroki froze several of them and went past. It was clear, however, that they weren't balanced and she saw as they started to fall. That didn't stop her classmates as she saw them continuing to push past. Not to be outdone, she opened the front of her uniform's top and started her creation. Her plan was large but simple, enabling her to use her creation fairly quickly despite its size. Several students around her watched as suddenly a field gun came into existence. She brought the gun to bear and began to unleash shots on the robots, allowing not only her but the group to pass.

Coming to the next obstacle, Present Mic announced as The Fall. A pit with several pillars sticking up and ropes attached between them. Todoroki was way ahead, using his ice to freeze the ropes and skid across them. She saw Tsuyu leap onto the ropes and quickly climb past. Then she saw Hatsume, armed with her babies. She apparently was starting to get used to that term. A rope was sent flying across and embedded in a rock and her boots allowed her to propel and avoid slamming into the rock face, pulling herself up and almost flying. The entire time she was calling out to the support companies to watch her. Momo had to admit, her enthusiasm was contagious.

While Momo was confident in her athletic ability, trying to do the same as Hatsume would require a number of lipids and time to create similar gear and she wasn't sure she would be as proficient as her quickly enough. Instead she pulled up the list of equipment, searching for one she had seen. Finding it, she quickly went to work. A moment later she had what was listed as a "Balance Buddy". It seemed simple enough. The device would float and allow a person to hold onto it to aid in balance. Momo was a little concerned that it was marked "prototype" and "untested in the field" but all things considered Hatsume's other gadgets had seemed to work fine.

Momo approached the rope and activated the Balance Buddy. Using her left hand to grip it, she tested the setup and felt it was reliable. She quickly started to make her way across, picking up speed as she went. Having nearly made it to the other side, suddenly the Balance Buddy called out "OVERHEAT WARNING!" before pulling itself up. With her left hand holding on she didn't lose her grip on the device, but she could feel it starting to heat up with the tactile sensors in the hand. She had already ascended up 100 meters when she finally let go, having created a glider around her. It tore the lower half of her top in back but it was worth it as she turned the sudden danger into an advantage and started to soar past a number of competitors. Landing she quickly divested herself of the life-saving apparatus before moving to the third obstacle.

Mines. The third obstacle were mines. Momo made her way to the field and started to move through them. She was feeling confident with the time she had made up and quickly started to push through, watching for the buried explosives as she went. She could see Todoroki and Bakugou up ahead and battling it out, but kept her focus in front of her. Behind her she could hear more people getting to the field, the occasional roar of an explosion around her. She kept herself focused on the task at hand. Glancing up for a moment, she saw the two in the lead fighting. Good, she tried to use this opportunity to keep moving forward, to close the distance. Just keep going.

An explosion a magnitude larger than the others she had heard came from behind, a shockwave spewing dust, dirt and debris past her. Overhead something came flying out of the pink cloud, Midoriya riding on a piece of scrap from what she presumed were the robots. He flew past her, past the other students, and even past Todoroki and Bakugou to take the lead. She watched as the two gave chase to her green haired classmate, and she wasn't about to quit either. Using her quirk to create another pole she launched herself towards the icy path Todoroki had created and landed on it, using her quirk to adorn her feet in ice skates. She had practiced every year and was confident in her skills at this. As she lifted off with the pole she felt a sudden weight on her back, but paid in no mind as she kept moving. It was quickly apparent others also were taking advantage of the ice. Having balance issues she spared a moment to see that Mineta had attached himself to her back, giving her a creepy smile. Momo nearly fell realizing she had a passenger but kept going. While several students managed to pass her, she completed the race in what she thought was still a respectable position.

Having a moment to collect herself, she turned to her passenger. "Mineta, as our class representative, I applaud your ingenuity in using your Quirk to finish the race. But I think it's time for you to get off."

Mineta gave her a creepy leer, "I'm sorry, Yaoyorozu, but I think I'm going to be stuck to you for a while. My Quirk and all!"

Momo sighed. Why did she have to put up with him? Looking up, she smiled. "Now Bakugou does look angry, perhaps I should go see how he's doing? As the class representative?"

Mineta managed to get sight of him and the very angry look on his face (currently switching between Midoriya and Todoroki) and decided now would be a good time to not be here. Hopping off he went to find Kaminari while Yaoyorozu saw Setsuna and went over towards her.

"Momo! Nice job on the robot blockade. That was pretty impressive pulling out a cannon like that."

Momo smiled at the honest compliment. "Thank you, Setsuna. I'm afraid I didn't have an opportunity to see how you fared."

"Oh well, I'm a bit embarrassed. When the two-tone hair guy did his big ice thing, I was a bit overconfident and managed to get stuck at first. Had to beat my way out of it, barely catching your fireworks show. The big pit wasn't too much of a trouble for me, just hovered over it. But I tried the same for the mines and got caught a few times. Still managed to do decently, but not as high as I would've liked."

Midnight started to call everyone to attention, ending the two's chat. They gathered up to hear about their results and the second event. Momo was still surprised that Midoriya came in first. "Todoroki calling him out in the locker room, did it motivate him or did he just realize Midoriya's potential? I hadn't suspected him of being able to come in first like that. Especially without using his Quirk at all." Momo felt a bit of irritation at the situation, but tried to squash it.

Listening to the explanation it was a cavalry battle. They would each be given points based on their previous placement, 42nd getting 5 points, 41st 10 points, and so on. Momo herself was worth 130 points for being in 17th place. And first place, Midoriya was worth 10,000,000 points. Absurd but enough to guarantee the team that had his team's headband at the end would win.

Midnight finished the explanation and then announced they only had 15 minutes to form teams. Momo quickly looked around, considering the available options.

As she was considering, Hatsume came up to her. "Ah, R.A.G.! Your showing was most impressive! I sawn the innovative use of my Balance Buddy Baby! Always nice to see a field test in action. After the festival I would love to hear your impressions of it and provide any feedback on where it can be improved. But I need to go see if that boy with the 10 million points has a team yet so I can show off more of my babies. Please make sure to use a lot of more of them from your database for me. Goodbye!" And like that, she was off before Momo could get in a word of complaint.

"She seemed a bit hyperactive."

Hearing the voice of Todoroki behind her, Momo turned to find him standing behind her. "She can be like that. Hatsume is a good person though, I think. A bit self centered but she is helping the support department with my arm."

"I see. Are you planning on teaming up with her?"

"Not at present I'm not. What about yourself?"

"I'd like you to join our team." He then turned and glanced behind him where she saw Kaminari and Iida standing. "I have a plan and you're a part of it, if you're willing to join us."

Momo looked at the other two and smiled before turning back and nodding. "I'd gladly be on your team, Todoroki."

When he was about to explain his plan to them, Midoriya came up and attempted to recruit Iida to his team. It seemed he declined however as he came back while Midoriya and Ochaco went off to look for others.

Todoroki's plan was fairly simple. Iida would be the front horse, Kaminari would deflect the left flank while she was to provide insulation from Kaminari's Quirk and help with defense. Todoroki would focus on using his ice. Iida had asked about his fire side but apparently it was a sore subject for him. The goal was the 10,000,000 points that Midoriya held.

By the time they had discussed their plans, it was time to start the Cavalry Battle. A total of 12 teams had formed. As the whistle started, it went as expected. Everyone charged towards Midoriya and his points. Team Todoroki stayed back and watched Team Midoriya's behavior, planning a strategy even as they watched them struggle against the other teams. At the halfway point they would make their move, against whoever had that headband.

The team they had assembled was impressive. Hatsume's babies were effective at lending a hand, Ochaco's quirk gave them mobility, and Tokoyami provided offense and defense. It was quite a well rounded team under Midoriya's leadership. They took to the sky a couple times to avoid others.

As the halfway point neared and they checked in with the scores, suddenly Present Mic announced the teams and noted that class 1-A wasn't doing well. Surprised at the turnround, it ultimately didn't matter. Aside from apparently distracting Bakugou from Team Midoriya. "Class 1-B just gave us a chance. Let's go." Team Todoroki charged towards Team Midoriya, catching them between the edge of the fighting area.

They charged with Iida pulling them, Yayorozu and Kaminari on skates. Several teams were charging alongside them however. At Todoroki's instruction she created an insulating cloth and wrapped it around the three of them while also creating a ground. After Kaminari sent a shock out towards everyone, paralyzing them, Todoroki used the ground to send a wave of ice and freeze the other teams. Dark Shadow had blocked the electrical current from hitting Team Midoriya, but he looked weakened by the attack. On the way towards Team Midoriya, Todoroki took advantage to nab a few headbands from the other teams.

Dark Shadow attempted to attack them but Momo managed to block it while Todoroki ensured that Team Midoriya was trapped with his ice blocking either side. Thinking it was over, Team Midoriya didn't give up. They kept countering and moving, keeping to Todoroki's left. Momo could tell the action was putting him at a disadvantage, being unable to freeze them without risking harm to them.

"Listen everyone, we have less than a minute left. I'm going to be useless after this, but it's our chance." Iida started spouting off words that sounded like a death sentence before lowering his stance. The sound of his engine Quirk started to rumble. "Make sure to get it, Todoroki. TORGUE OVER-" And with that Team Todoroki shot forward, surpassing the fastest they had seen Iida move and giving Todoroki the opportunity to snag the bandana from Midoriya's head. "-RECIPROBURST!"

They came around and stopped, with Todoroki putting the bandana on his own head and turning them all backwards to hide the point values. He was still visibly surprised at Iida's speed, a rare occurrence on the normally stoic hero-in-training, as were Kaminari and Momo.

Team Midoriya, desperate but determined, charged towards them. The two teams clashed, Midoriya's left hand glowing as he reached for Todoroki. Oddly enough, Todoroki's own left hand was engulfed in flames. Midoriya swung his arm, leaving Todoroki open as he grabbed a bandana and they flew past them. Momo was aware that Todoroki had already switched them when turning them around however, and called out to him, "How naive, Midoriya."

With only 10 seconds left, Team Midoriya turned and charged, while at the same time the ice barrier was shattered as Bakugou (and his team following) came through to get involved. It looked to be a heated battle for the ten million points until the countdown ended.

Feeling more on edge from how close the battle went than she would have expected, she found herself reassuring Iida while Kaminari walked around in a daze. Todoroki seemed concerned but brushed her off when she asked if he was okay. Then the winners were announced. First place was of course Team Todoroki, Team Bakugou in second, Team Shinso with third and Team Midoriya with fourth. She was surprised at the last two. Shinso was the general studies student who declared war on the hero courses. How had he managed that? And Team Midoriya in fourth? Looking over she realized that Dark Shadow had managed to claim a second bandana during that last minute. Enough to keep them in the running.

An hour lunch was declared with recreational games for everyone to show off before the last event. She took advantage of the time to replenish her lipids while checking on her friends. However she was only half listening, worried about what was to come. A bit of trouble came up from Mineta's scheming that she would rather put behind her before the hour was up.

The next contest was announced as a tournament bracket. Lots were to be drawn by all participants to decide the order. But before that could happen, Ojiro from 1-A and Nirengeki from 1-B both decided to drop out, stating concerns with how they won the cavalry battle. After some discussion and a decision by Midnight, Tetsutetsu and Ibara from 1-B ended up taking their spots. The brackets were decided and Momo learned that she would fight Tokoyami in the first round.

Momo couldn't help it, her worries from earlier confirmed. Tokoyami was one of several of the participants she wasn't sure how to handle in a variety of matches. And a straight battle like this? He would be difficult. She immediately began to work out a strategy as the recreational games started.

Eventually the time came up and Momo prepared to watch her classmate's fights. She had come up with a simple strategy. Start with a shield to block Dark Shadow's attacks, then create a weapon. Improvise as needed. She watched the first fight, Midoriya against Shinso. Shinso's Quirk, Brainwashing, was powerful and at first she thought Midoriya was done. But he had managed to get past a number of challenges, so it wouldn't have surprised her if he did win.

She was surprised when he won.

Midoriya had somehow activated his own Quirk and blasted away the brainwashing. And from there he was simply more capable in hand to hand combat, overall a better fighter. She would have to remember to ask him how he did it, in case she herself ever encountered a villain with a similar Quirk.

Next was Todoroki vs. Sero. The victor was as intended, but she didn't expect him to summon an entire glacier for the victory. A bit of overkill, but proved the point. Todoroki won.

After the ice was melted, the third was Ibara vs. Kaminari. Momo was getting into the matches by this point, almost distracting her from her own upcoming fight. Kaminari boasted a quick victory only to lose to the Vine Girl. It was a beautiful win that was ruined when Monoma stuck his head over the wall to brag. Kendo quickly shut him up.

Fourth was Iida vs. Hatsume. Momo wasn't sure how the Support Course student would fight Iida, only to watch as he came out wearing one of her babies. The next 15 minutes were not a fight. It was a commercial ran by Hatsume with her in control all the way up until she forfeited, granting Iida the victory.

The fifth fight Momo wasn't present for. Knowing her match was next, she left for the prep room and got herself ready. She didn't think it would take long for the fight between Mina and Aoyama to be finished. She was right as she was quickly called to the field.

She approached the ring and listened as Present Mic introduced her opponent. "The Dark Samurai accompanied by Dark Shadow. From the hero course, Tokoyami Fumikage!" And then her turn, "All-purpose Creation. She was admitted through recommendations, so her abilities are certified! Also from the hero course, Yaoyorozu Momo!"

She was going through her plan in her head when she missed Present Mic announcing the start of the match. Quickly Momo erected a shield, barely blocking Dark Shadow but being forced back. She started to create a weapon but Dark Shadow kept coming. And again. And again. Being forced back with each step. "I just need a weapon. I can't concentrate. Just a moment."

Dark Shadow was coming in again, her thoughts in chaos when a loud bang could be heard, a shock running through her left arm. She watched Dark Shadow get knocked back, suddenly screaming out, "OWWW! That hurt!" Looking past Dark Shadow, who had turned back, they both saw Tokoyami on the ground, a pool of blood starting to form around him.

Not sure what just happened, Momo looked to her left arm where the sound came from. Smoke was rising from the palm. Horrified at what that may have meant, she turned her palm towards her, to see a small hole in the middle, the signs of rifling clear inside. Momo turned back towards her classmate even as Cementoss rose a wall between them, Midnight rushing towards the field. Momo's knees gave out, not hearing the panic of the crowd.

"Oh no. I just killed Tokoyami."
