When I wake up Peeta is gone. He is not in bed with me. I immediately panic, knowing what happened to Daisy when she left my sight. I quickly get out of bed and run downstairs. I calm down once I smell the scent of fresh bread and see Peeta standing in the kitchen. He sees my worried face.
"Katniss are you ok?" he asks.
"Yes I'm fine," I say. "I just got scared because you weren't in bed."
"Oh I'm so sorry!" he says. He comes over and hugs me. "I just wanted to make you some of your favorite cheese buns."
"It's ok Peeta. Just don't do it again."
Peeta and I find old clothing from Hyamitch's house to disguise ourselves so we can go to the Square to find out when the coal train leaves.
The first place we go is the bakery. As soon as Peeta steps inside we are met with a knife pointed at us. It's Peeta's father.
"Get out!" he yells. He doesn't recognize us under all the clothes. "The bakery is closed!"
"Dad it's me," Peeta says as he pulls off his hood.
"Peeta!" his father says. He is stunned and quiet. "You came back. Katniss is that you?"
I pull off my hood. He embraces us with a hug.
"I thought you two were dead!" he says as he cries. "When you guys disappeared the whole country went crazy. We all thought you had died. We thought Snow killed you!"
He let's go of us after a while and we go upstairs to Peeta's old apartment. His father closes the curtains and Peeta and I sit down on the sofa while his father sits in the chair across from us.
"What happened?" he asks us after a while.
"After the Games Katniss and I were taken to District 13," Peeta says.
"District 13?" his father asks. "It's real?"
"Yes," I say. "They wanted me to be the face of the revolution. The Games were all a part of a rebel plan. They wanted me to get the Districts all together to overthrow the Capitol. I didn't want to so they tried to force me and…" I can't talk anymore.
"So we escaped," Peeta says. "And we walked here."
The baker just sits there taking it all in. I start to sweat in the heavy coat I'm wearing. When I take it off he looks up and sees my baby bump.
"Katniss are you pregnant?" he asks
"Yes I am." I answer.
"But where is Daisy?"
"She's in the Capitol. That's why we are here. We need to get on the coal train and get to the Capitol," Peeta says.
Just then we hear a loud knock, more like someone banging on the door. Peeta looks out the window and when he looks back at me all the color has drained from his face.
"It's the Peacekeeper," he says.
