Infinite is entering his lair while Jet was running around panicking "We gotta get out of here. I gotta start packing, your highness. Only essentials" as he was saying this Infinite closed the door to the lair and smiled under his mask. "Travel light. pack the extreme gear, the guns, the weapons and how about this picture? I don't know, I think I'm making a weird face in it" he said examining a picture of him and infinite but he then noticed that Infinite was leaning against the door laughing manically. "Oh boy, he's cracked. He's gone nuts" he walks up to Infinite and starts knocking on his mask "Infinite, Infinite get a grip!" Infinite stops laughing and grabs Jet by the throat "Good grip". "Prince Sonic is no more than that thieving hedgehog we sent into the cave. He has the ruby, Jet" "Why that miserable little-" "And you are going to relieve him of it" "Me?".
The next day Sonic was standing outside the palace looking upset "King? They wanna make me king?" he began walking back inside when the genies were released. Shadow sat down inside, Silver began slowly flying around looking happily distracted by something and Knuckles appears in front of Sonic "Huzzah, hail to the conquering hero!" he then turned into a one man band but Sonic just walks past him, making Knuckles stop. He then runs in front of Sonic again "So Sonic, you've just won the heart of the princess and beaten the bad guys. what're you gonna do next?". Sonic just walked past him again and sat down next to Shadow who was now getting a script nudged at him by Knuckles, he rolled his eyes taking the script and putting on a pair of glasses, he began to read it. "I believe your line is I will free the genies" Shadow was now getting concerned that Sonic wasn't answering "Anytime" Sonic regretfully looked at them "Guys, I can't". Knuckles came up to Sonic "Sure you can all you have to say is 'Shadow, I wish for you and your brothers free" he said while moving Sonic's mouth like a ventriloquist. Sonic elbowed him away "I'm serious! Look I'm sorry, I really am".
"But they want to make me king. No in fact they want to make Prince Soni king. Without you, I'm just Sonic". Silver finally took notice and flew down "But Sonic, you won" "Because of you! The only reason anyone thinks anything of me is because of you. What if they find out I'm not a prince. What if Amy finds out? I'd lose her. Guys, I can't do this on my own. I can't set you free" he put his head down. The three genies looked utterly betrayed by this, Knuckles not really feeling in a joking mood began to shrink back into the ruby "Fine, I get it. I mean you've lied to everyone else, we were beginning to feel left out" he disappeared. He was then followed by Silver who looked disappointed "I mean we just wanted lives of our own but that was clearly to much. We should have remembered our place" he said angrily before disappearing. Shadow then followed "I trusted you, but I guess I was right, two wishes is never enough. Now if you'll excuse us, Master" he did a half-hearted bow before disappearing. Sonic picked up the ruby "Guys please, I'm sorry" but he then saw Knuckles face in the ruby blowing a raspberry "Well, fine just stay in there!" Sonic then put the ruby under a pillow before realising Tails and Omega were staring at him with disgust. "What are you guys looking at?" Sonic said angrily "How could you do that? You promised them-" "Oh, shut up. I've heard enough from them" Tails was really hurt by that and Sonic knew right away he went too far. Tails began to walk away "Tails, wait, I'm sorry. I just" Sonic tried to call after him. Omega took one look at Sonic before following Tails, for once he had nothing to say. Before Sonic could go after them "Sonic! Sonic, could you come here?" it was Amy's voice, Sonic put on his turban but forgets the ruby and walks outside "Amy, where are you?". The voice is actually Jet the Hawk doing an impersonation while hiding "Out in the menagerie, hurry" Sonic walks of not noticing Jet who was laughing. Jet was about to go inside but when he turned around he realised there was a guard in front of him "You got a problem!?" he then pulls out a war fan and launches the guard into a wall "Jerk" he then walked inside and found the ruby. "Haha, Infinite's going to be happy to see you" he then does and impression of Infinite "Excellent work, Jet. On a scale of one to ten you, are an eleven" he then spoke in his normal voice as he flew off on his extreme gear "Oh, Infinite, you're too kind. I'm embarrassed, I'm blushing".
At the top of the palace gates the king was getting ready to make an announcement to a huge crowd. Sonic was about to go up the steps to join him when Blaze suddenly called from behind "Um, excuse me, Prince Sonic" Sonic turned to face her "Uh... Blaze, right?" "Yes, I was just wondering where your bodyguard Silver is?". Sonic didn't know why she wanted to talk to Silver "Uh, well, he didn't want to come". Blaze looked confused "He didn't want to come to the announcement of you engagement? Why? He seemed very loyal to you". "Oh, yeah, he definitely is. He even saved my… Life" saying it out loud let Sonic know just how badly he treated the three of them, he knows what he should do. Blaze smiled at Sonic "Yes, he told me. He was very proud of that" "Yeah, I bet he was, um… Listen do you know where Amy is?" "Yes, she's up there with her father" "Thanks".
Sonic started to climb the steps and heard the King begin his announcement "People of Shamar, my daughter has finally chosen a husband!" when he reached the top he saw Amy peaking out of the curtains excited before noticing him "Sonic". Sonic was very nervous "Amy, listen, there something I have to tell you" but Amy grabbed him by the arm and dragged him to the opening in the curtain and said excitedly "The whole kingdom has turned out for dads announcement". "Wait, Amy I-" Amy was too excited to hear him as she fixed his turban then gave him a kiss on the forehead "Good luck" she then pushed him through the curtain. "Prince Soni Ababwa!" the King announced as the crowd cheered for Sonic who gave a nervous wave "Oh, boy".
Infinite and Jet were watching the whole thing from the window of their lair "Look at them, cheering for that little pipsqueak" Jet said although Infinite was unfazed "Let them cheer". Infinite rubbed the ruby with his hand releasing the Knuckles, Silver and Shadow "Okay Sonic, let's just get this over with so… I don't think you're him" Knuckles along with the others realised they weren't talking to Sonic. Knuckles went up to Infinite wearing glasses and holding a script "Tonight the part of Sonic will be played by a tall, dark and sinister edgy jackal". Infinite then pushed Knuckles to the floor as Silver and Shadow looked in fear "I am your master, now" "I was afraid of that" Knuckles replied. "Knuckles, grant me my first wish. I wish to rule on high. As king!".
