Chapter 11: I Feel Proud
A.N. – Happy Holidays! I know it's been a while since I posted a chapter and this one will probably be the last one for this year. The holiday season means different things to different people and I hope everyone is enjoying this time. But if you're going through a hard time and need to talk, please feel free to private message me. I think you have to be a registered user to message me so, if you're a guest, I encourage you guys to register and make an account.
I'm trying to motivate myself to keep writing and I love seeing the reviews you guys write because they really help me. Thank you for being patient with me. I know I haven't been posting as often as I used to.
Also, I kind of lost track of my timeline so this chapter is set on a Friday and the homecoming dance is one week away.

Puck woke up with an uneasy feeling in his stomach. Grimm hadn't come home again. Puck didn't know what to do. After his talk with Jake, he had been ready to talk to her and sort out their argument. He had waited as patiently as he could for her to come home but then she didn't.
Marshmallow wasn't much help. For someone who loved to talk, she sure was keeping her mouth shut. Well, she was still blabbering about school and her friends and what she wanted to do this weekend but Puck wanted her to talk about her sister. It's been two nights since their fight. Or disagreement. He wasn't sure what to call it. But he was beginning to wonder what was taking her so long to come home.
Puck entered the kitchen and was glad that the Grimm family had left. Henry and Jake were going to finalize the details of buying the apartment today. He was excited to live in the apartment with Jake. He was more excited that he didn't have to go back and live with his mother. Their relationship was better than before but he didn't want to live there.
Basil was really excited last night but Puck wasn't really paying attention so he wasn't sure if it was because he had gone on his field trip already or because he was going to go soon. Everyone could tell that Puck hadn't been in the right mood to talk a lot so they weren't surprised when his replies were a bit dry. He didn't seem as energetic but they knew it was because of Sabrina. He missed her. She was basically his only friend and he didn't really realize it. When he was travelling, he was constantly moving. He missed her then but he had other things to distract himself with.
Puck spent the day with his brother. Even though Mustardseed had things to do, he listened as his brother told him what happened. Mustardseed had to stop himself from smiling. He could tell how much his brother cared for Sabrina. He tried to give advice but he knew that, in the end, it's up to the two of them. They could both be stubborn but he had faith that they would figure this out.
He just hoped that they figured it out soon. His brother was clearly upset about this, even though it was kind of his fault. It only made Mustardseed want to smile more. Sabrina really made Puck want to be more mature. He was proud of his brother.

Puck had returned to the house and saw Daphne eating some chips in the living room. He could feel the disappointment fill his body and he almost wanted to cry out in frustration. Daphne looked at him and smiled, "Hey, Puck."
"Hey, Marshmallow. I guess Grimm isn't back yet."
Daphne shook her head, "No, Luke dropped me home but I think Brina and Bella had to stay at school to do something."
Puck couldn't help but sigh. He opened his mouth to ask if she would be coming home today but was interrupted by a knock on the door. Daphne got up and went to answer it so Puck stole her chips and followed her. He saw Daphne stiffened and step back so he instantly went into protective mode.
Puck stood in front Daphne and squinted at the boy standing at the door. He seemed familiar but Puck couldn't tell how he knew him. Daphne quietly asked from behind Puck, "What are you doing here Bradley?"
Puck's eyes narrowed as it clicked who this guy was. Puck wanted to morph into a giant bear and scare this idiot away. He was suddenly glad that Sabrina hadn't come home.
"I'm here to see Sabrina," Bradley replied.
"Did she know you were coming?" Daphne asked.
"Uh, not really. We had a brief conversation the other day so I figured I would surprise her and see if she wanted to hangout."
Puck snorted, "Yeah, sure is a surprise."
Bradley stared at Puck, "Who are you?"
A car pulled up into the driveway. Daphne felt her stomach drop. Sabrina had come home. Sabrina left the car smiling but it disappeared as she saw the scene before her.
"Grimm, you have a visitor," Puck said gruffly.
Puck saw Daphne and Sabrina share a look and then she was pulling him into the house and shutting the door. Puck looked at the younger girl in confusion. "Why did you do that?"
"Sabrina can handle this. Come on let's watch TV."
Puck wanted to argue but the look Daphne had on her face told him that she was right. Her expressions were normally cheerful and happy but right now she was serious and he trusted her on this.
/
Time seemed to drag on but when he heard the door open, Puck moved to get up.
Daphne glared at him and he stayed on the couch. He heard Grimm walk into the living room and stop for a second but then she went upstairs. Daphne got up and Puck whined, "How come you get to go?"
"Because she's my sister," Daphne glared at him, "and I also know not to accuse her of anything before actually listening to her."
Puck frowned. She had a point but she could've been nicer about it. It definitely sounded like something Grimm would've said to him.

Sabrina sat on her bed and replayed what just happened in her head. The door opened and it snapped her out of her thoughts. Daphne took a brush from the nightstand and sat next to Sabrina.
As Daphne began brushing her sister's hair, she initiated the conversation, "How do you feel?"
Sabrina sighed, "I feel proud. I did something that I wasn't sure I was capable of doing. But it doesn't feel all good, you know? A part of me is still sad."
"What happened?"
"He said there was this movie that just came out and we could probably go and see it. He said it like it was totally normal for us to do. Like we were regular friends who did regular things. Like everything that went bad between us didn't happen."
"So, what did you say?"
"I told him no. Just a straight no. And he looked so confused. Like he didn't understand why I would say no. It made me feel like I was overreacting. Or like I was upset over nothing. I don't know."
Daphne continued to brush her sister's hair, "What did he say?"
"He asked me why not. And I told him that he and I aren't friends. We may share friends or know the same people but that doesn't make us friends. I told him that I wouldn't avoid group activities or hangouts or whatever if he was there but I didn't want to hangout with him alone. He can't just act like we're cool and expect that I'll do the same."
Daphne finished brushing Sabrina's hair so the blonde turned towards her sister as she continued, "He asked if I was mad at him. I told him I was basically over it but it didn't mean he and I could go back to how we were. I didn't hate him because hate is an ugly feeling and I don't want to keep any negative energy in my life."
Daphne nodded, "And then you left him and came inside?"
"He brought up Luke. He asked if Luke was still friends with him then why couldn't I. I said that his relationship with Luke is completely different than his relationship with me. I told him not to come to my house like this again. Then I left."
Daphne smiled, "You handled that well."
"I wanted to scream at him. I wanted to scream and ask why and cry. But I don't think he'll ever answer my questions so I can't keep holding onto them."
Daphne looked confused, "But wouldn't his answers give you closure?"
Sabrina sighed and smiled softly at her younger sister, "I don't think closure really exists. And if it does, then sometimes we need to give it to ourselves. I don't want to have to depend on him for anything."
"And what about you and Puck?"
"I'll talk to him later. Right now, I just want to shower and call my friends," Sabrina replied as she got up from her bed.
"Dad and Uncle Jake bought the apartment today. I think Uncle Jake doesn't technically get it until next week but the woman who sold it to them said she didn't mind if they started moving things in before then. They're going to buy some furniture and stuff so they might not be home until later tonight."
"I thought the apartment came furnished?"
"Yeah, I think Uncle Jake just wanted extra stuff though. Mom is taking Basil to see Granny Relda. His friend's grandmother fell down the stairs so he wanted to go see his own and make sure she's okay."
Sabrina laughed, "He couldn't just call her?"
Daphne shook her head, "Mom had to take him as soon as he got out of school. I think they might spend the whole weekend there."
"I can drive us up tomorrow if you want," Sabrina offered.
Daphne shrugged, "I wouldn't mind seeing her but if you're busy we can go another time."
Sabrina quickly made a mental list of things she had to do, "No, I don't have anything urgent. We'll leave in the morning then."
Daphne paused before she left the room, "Do you- uh- maybe she- um…."
"Yes, Daph?"
Daphne took a deep breath, "Granny might like to see Puck."
Sabrina sighed, "Yeah, probably. She would also want to see Uncle Jake. I'll call them and ask if they want to go too."
"It's okay. I'll talk to them while you're in the shower."
"Thanks, Daph. I'll make dinner for the three of us when I'm out of the shower."
"Sounds good," the younger girl replied as she left.
Sabrina quickly texted the group chat she had with her friends and said she wanted to talk to them about something that happened this afternoon. Bella replied and said that she had to go into work soon because her coworker asked her to switch shifts. Luke replied that he was free so Sabrina told him that she was going to shower and cook but then she would call him.
Sabrina knew Bella wouldn't mind because the two girls would talk as soon as they could. And even if they didn't talk right away, Luke would tell her anything she wanted to know. Unless Sabrina asked him not to, but that was unlikely. The three of them rarely kept secrets from each other.
Sabrina went into the shower and hoped the hot water would help wash away the sadness she felt.

Daphne sat in the living room with Puck and waited impatiently for her sister to get out of the shower. She was hungry and wanted to eat but it would be at least 45 minutes before she got food. She had already talked to her dad and they made plans for them all to go to Granny Relda tomorrow.
The doorbell rang and Daphne groaned. Puck looked up from the TV but didn't move to open the door. Daphne groaned again and got up to open the door. If Bradley was here again, she would slam the door in his face. She unlocked the door and it swung open
"Hi, Daffy Duck," chirped Luke as he walked into the house with bags of takeout.
"Luke!" Daphne giggled as she closed the door and followed Luke into the kitchen
Now it was Puck's turn to groan. He turned off the TV and went to join the other two. He walked into the kitchen just as Luke was almost done talking.
"…and I feel proud to announce that I have brought dinner since I know you're helpless in the kitchen."
Daphne eagerly unpacked the food containers and opened them to discover that it was Chinese food. She got a plate and began to load it with food.
Sabrina was done with her shower and went to her room to put on some comfy clothes. She walked downstairs and asked, "Hey, Daph what do you want me to make?"
She entered the kitchen and was confused when she saw takeout containers on the counter. She went to the dining table and saw Daphne and Puck sitting and eating. She was about to ask where the food came from when she sensed someone behind her. She swiveled around and grasped at the person's shirt while she pulled her arm back and prepared to punch them.
Instead of looking worried, Luke only looked disappointed, "Come one, Bri. I just want to be able to scare you. I haven't even done it once."
Sabrina released his shirt and dropped her arm while she laughed. Luke took her hand and dragged her back into the kitchen to get some food.
After they got their food and each had a glass of water, Sabrina said, "Let's go to my room so we can talk."
Luke nodded, "Okay. I'll go up but you should probably let them know we won't be eating with them."
"I don't think Daphne will care."
"We both know Puck will," Luke replied as he ventured upstairs.
Sabrina sighed and made her way back to the dinner table. "Luke and I are going to eat in my room."
Daphne paused from shoveling food into her mouth, "Okay."
Sabrina looked and Puck and hesitantly smiled at him. Her body filled with relief when he smiled back at her. She turned and went upstairs. She felt proud that they seemed to be okay. They hadn't really talked about what happened but, somehow, Sabrina knew they would figure it out.
