The Brownstone, N. Y.
Two Days Later
"I'm sorry mate, it sounds harsh" Joan paused as she heard Harry's voice. "My mother was nothing more than a drugged-up cock puppet toy of a spoiled rich bully. Actually I'm the product of rape most foul. On the brighter side, I know for a fact they were married before I was born, so no matter how vehemently she says it, I am not in fact like Sal insists...a bastard."
Sherlock chocked a laugh.
"I know because I was at their wedding."
Sherlock groaned, "That's an old one."
"I know this sounds untrue, but I was actually there in person, back row, blonde highlighter in my hair and colour charm over my eyes. I had tried to stop the wedding, but it was sadly already too late for my mother."
There was a moment of silence, "My god, you're not actually joking are you."
"Nope. I have, urh...learned how to travel up and down in time the same way I learned eventually to hop dimensions. Similar process."
Joan walked around the corner schooling her face, "That would create a MASSIVE paradox"
"Those are in fact utter bollocks Joan" Harry said, "I've caused many such things to happen, but time just automatically repairs itself, no paradox has a chance to form, no time swirl, time is ultimately self-healing. It's the study of that healing process that made me realize the only cost that would come from me stopping poor Miss Evans from being systematically broken by her enforced addiction to a love potion was to do it before the wedding. This would in turn end one single life to repair all that damage."
"You, that's what you're not saying, YOU" Sherlock spat angrily.
Harry shrugged, "No huge loss."
"You're wrong, you're DEAD wrong." Joan said, "If not for you...well no Jamie."
"I don't see that I was all that instrumental there"
"But you were, I literally can't tell you it was told to me in confidence, but something you did, DIRECTLY related to something she then did that perhaps helped create who she is today."
Harry made a face, "Yeah...sorry bollocks. Pretty much clear the opposite really"
"I know you believe that, but if you Do trust and value me, trust in what I am saying. If not for you she wouldn't be what she is here and now. Perhaps she would be dead, or worse, too far gone to meet Sherlock and fall in love. In a really scary alternate reality she would be evil, and a plague upon mankind."
Harry smiled, "Alright, in respect for your opinion I agree to that being possible. I do however like to think she would do this thing without me anyway. One thing for sure, the Wizarding world would likely be out in the open by now and it'd be open season on men in dresses." Harry smirked. "But honestly I'm not sure I consider that much of a loss. Magic...for sure, magicals...not so much."
"And your team, Allison, how would she be without you."
"That my Dear Watson is a very stupid question" Holmes rebuked her. "There are far too many variables and indeed since they are from alternate realities themselves impossible to account for the billions that would change by no Harry."
"Well Allison wouldn't care, she'd likely be dead." Harry said flatly, "I saved her life the day I met her." he said truthfully. "Thea would be kicking Hive ass up in Starling, Frosty would perhaps be put back in her bottle, or win. Those are pretty much the only two options there. Elena...likely she would've been pulled back into the pack intrigue eventually. But those are spit balling in the ball park, ya know. Either way they wouldn't miss me or something Joan, they wouldn't have known I existed."
"I think I know why Allison was so mad." Joan said seriously.
"Please don't tip that beehive over again."
"It would be a shame to burn more fur" Sherlock remarked.
"You burned her furs?" Harry asked looking at him like he was crazy.
"She was well aware I would do that." Sherlock replied with a slight smile.
"You know, I am sometimes jealous of the anti stab for you that she has." Harry remarked. "I lost quite a bit of loss for her anger at me."
"So did she" Joan added.
"I got her?" Harry asked horrified.
"Yes, and she said you did it by accident."
"We were so hammered, Jesus." Harry said shaking his head, "She's okay right?"
"Flesh wound, being like you she's mostly healed already."
"Which is the only reason I'm not stabbing you." Sherlock said. "This practice you share, not enthusiastic about it."
"Urh...that is the first and ONLY time I ever made contact with her. I always take a swing, make her stop mostly, but I never aim to hurt her. She taught me to handle a blade herself, trust me if I wanted to hurt her I'd make plenty of contact."
"You miss on purpose?" Sherlock asked.
"And not hit by accident when VERY pissed on a hellish cocktail of thirty year old whiskey to start, far too much vodka to stay upright and later I think we were drinking champagne having lunch in Monte Carlo. After that I lost count. I do know we were in about ten different cities in three days, starting at the bank to get some handy cash, and then...Back to N. Y., then L.A.,designer shops, Monte Carlo, Paris...I dunno it's all a bit of a blur, pretty sure we were in Tibet at one point but it's not overly wise to teleport while under the influence."
Sherlock laughed, "Don't drink and port."
"Quite" Harry said with a grin. "That of course might've been when I let her aim the teleport. So you know what they say about women drivers"
"Not with one in the room" Joan remarked her eyes sparkling.
"You don't scare me Joan, turn me on a bit with the angry look, but scare me no."
"There's knives in the kitchen" Joan pointed out.
"Okay, you go ahead and give that a go." Harry remarked in humour.
Joan turned on a heel and returned with a kitchen knife, Harry stood undid his jacket and held it open, offering her a perfect target, "Go on then."
Sherlock looked at his friend, both of them, wondering if this was odd flirting. Joan was assaying Harry then eventually she gave a rueful smile. "I can't"
"I know" Harry said then was rocked back on his heels as Joan slapped him a beauty.
He came back smiling, "Oh...that was very nicely played Joan." he said with a grudging grin. "Sadly I have to admit I've been slapped by much nastier women, and have had to heal some lovely gouges out of my face."
"They went to scar that face?" Joan asked like she couldn't understand it.
"You could make a man feel under appreciated" Sherlock said in good humour.
"I think my sister appreciates you stupid on a regular basis, so stop complaining." Harry said with a smirk.
"Yes, yes, she does!" Sherlock grinned.
"Hmm" Harry said covering a wince. "And yes Joan some women aren't as great as you are, and truly wanted me to...remember them a certain way. usually the morning after."
"Ohh, and now?"
"Life was a lot less complicated before Sal and I decided I should start a supernatural protective force put it that way."
"Would you change that?"
"Urh...no," he said honestly. "But it was straight forward and simple and perhaps I miss that with all this...complicated I have on my plate right now and Allison is the most confusing of the lot of them."
"Idiot"
"The women that say they care, also known as the ones that call me idiot all the time" Harry said rolling his eyes.
"You are, the reason she's So confusing is because you love her so much you dinkus!"
"I think, though I wish I was wrong I love them all" Harry said, "Because that's known to work out so well."
"I don't see why it shouldn't, there have been many papers on non-standard partnerships or communes working quite well actually." Sherlock said.
"Thanks, if I want commentary from the peanut gallery I'll pay admission." Harry said with a repressed smirk.
"Why are you fighting this so hard." Joan asked.
"I've never had a single actual relationship in my entire life, I have no idea how to run one, let alone that many at the same time!" he bemoaned, "I'm just gonna cock up and hurt the lot of them, and they'll leave."
"Wow" Sherlock said, "Little boy cries for help"
"Oh fuck you too" Harry said his eyes amused.
"He's not exactly wrong is he" Joan said, "I'm afraid I walked in to hear your dark humour confession about your conception. not an ideal family and you lost even that at eighteen months, then how long in an abusive home."
Harry looked at her, "Your point, I think...Is that I'm damaged, well DUH!" he laughed.
"I think you are scared silly by something you've never recognized being pointed at you and yet I think want more than anything else in your entire life."
"I have enough magic that all I have to do is ask it and get it, what could I possibly want for."
"Something that magic can't truly give you, as you know from your own parents." Sherlock said seriously. "I didn't really believe in it myself, and yet..." he spread his hands.
"Yes and talking of your love. I'm going to do that again, every so often. I actually think she took more from that than I did." Harry said, "I don't know how to explain it really. Other than it would be like you giving up dectotoring totally, and for what reason?"
"I don't hurt anyone doing what I do."
"Neither did she...not directly at least, anyway we may have pulled off the odd con here and there but we..." Harry paused, "Okay it's possible I beat up a Russian bar, but not REALLY hurt anyone either."
"You did start the three day bender by... withdrawing money from your 'bank'."
"Yes, we stole it" Harry said with a big grin, "About twenty Million in non sequential bills."
Joan went wide eyed.
"A Pittance really, after all there was maybe a solid billion in that vault." Harry said, "But no...she said Sherlock wouldn't like it. then this morning as our paths cross you know what she said to me..." he said sitting forward and nailing Sherlock with a dangerous eyed long look, "Borrowing is fun...stealing is wrong."
"I...I said that."
"Oh I knew she didn't. Now I accept she's not my Sal anymore, I get that, she's YOUR Jamie, and she's being better. But you don't want a clone do you?"
"No, no of course not. I like her as she is."
Joan shot him a look, but he ignored it.
"Good, try telling her that, before she goes too far the other way. We...we were VERY naughty." Harry said, "I am pretty sure neither of us has a single dime of the money we stole, spent it. I think I gave a homeless guy a wedge at one point. When we ran out, we stole some more. We ran a couple of short term cons, and frankly you SHOULD come with us next time. But only if you try HER thing."
"You're asking me to..."
"Have a walk on the other side of the line."
"No" Joan said, "Recovering addict, any of those situations you're describing are seriously fraught with falling off the wagon."
"I wouldn't let that happen. And trust me they aren't ever going to be linked to any crimes."
"You're talking about this like it's a done deal." Joan said.
Sherlock looked up and smiled. "Because it is," he said sheepishly. "Are relationships not give and take Joan?"
"Well... yes, but we're talking about crime here Sherlock, any of which could lose you the respect you've gained at the NYPD."
"She does have a point there." Sherlock remarked looking at Harry now.
"I'll disguise the pair of you." Harry shrugged, "Easy, you think the world see's Frosts unique beauty, they see her other sides looks, the world sees a brunette."
"I thought she WAS a brunette."
Harry held a hand in her direction, "See, proves it works."
Sherlock looked at Joan seriously,"You do?"
"Of course, are you saying that's not what she really looks like, because that's a hellishly beautiful woman, you know like they all are."
"Urh...no I think actually you're seeing the rather less beautiful side of Frost." Sherlock said. "Why?" he said turning back to Harry.
"You've seen more, it's that simple, you're a little more open minded, she'll see the truth soon enough when she's seen enough to truly open her mind to try possibility,"
"I am in the room here" Joan spat angrily.
"I know, sorry...but either way I've realized that I haven't given much to Jamie lately, she has given up so very much to be with me and yet...what in fact have I done for her lately."
Harry smiled, "I love that you just said that. Vindicates me decision not to leave you to freeze that first night, utterly 100%!"
Sherlock smiled, "I've not told her about that."
"She wouldn't be impressed, I just said I had a pointed word." Harry remarked, "She knew I'd do SOMETHING, after all."
Sherlock laughed.
"Dear god, you two!" Joan said, then laughed herself, "So my advice if you'll take it, is to let yourself love them back. In some ways Sherlock is perhaps right about relationships in the modern day. We've moved past the ideals of the wonder years, perhaps your situation wouldn't work for everyone, but maybe, just maybe it'll work for you!"
"Hear, hear Watson!" Sherlock applauded.
"No simple life?" Harry asked with a small grin.
"Harry you beat up monsters from the ID and steal priceless art for a lark, was your life ever SIMPLE?" Sherlock asked seriously. "If it was I think you really need to redefine your dictionary."
Harry laughed, nodding his head.
London, Cole Hill, Dimension 88
Early Evening.
Harry stood in the pathway, looking around from side to side. On a curiosity he'd tried a scry last night for something he didn't really think he'd find. He was by nationality British and that came with certain responsibilities, and the chief among them was being a Doctor Who Fan.
Once he'd found a place that existed and where this was all real he'd immediately upgraded from his space station idea. It would surely be big enough, and it was a mobile home after all. Of course he wasn't going to steal one with a broken nav-com either.
The latest spikes in temporal radiation lead him to this area of London, he had zero idea why. He'd not actually watched the show since Tenant left. He had no idea why THIS area of London.
"Oofff" he heard, "Hey do you mind."
Harry looked around, "Urh...hello?"
"Hey...down here, funny man, I get it I'm short, nicely spotted stretch."
Harry lifted a brow and smiled as he looked into a gorgeous pair of chocolate brown eyes frame in a very beautiful if lower down face. "Oh hey down there."
"Yeah, yeah, hilarious because I've not heard them ALL by now."
"In fairness, I need to do this, its almost a compulsion."
"You wait for short stature people to poke fun at them, that should have its own hate group."
Harry laughed, "No, no nothing like that, but until I was like 17/18 I was actually shorter than you miss gorgeous brown eyes." he said smiling, "So guess what? I've heard them all too, I just literally grew out of them."
"Yeah...that can happen, not so much for women, we grow in far more interesting ways."
"Ahh yes, I remember it fondly, and some far earlier than others, odd how popular they became suddenly. I went to a coed boarding school, so...you know, saw a lot of that."
"Coed, boarding, that's just a stupidly bad idea." she remarked, "I'm a teacher, and I would just refuse to work in that pressure cooker waiting to boil over in hormones"
Harry laughed, "It came with its own...unique set of challenges, but I didn't really even understand what all the fuss was about until my aforementioned very late pubity." he said, "Then I very much understood." he said shooting a sizzler of a smile down at her where she sparkled up at him. "Say...I kind of owe you for the short joke, so...pay you back with a coffee?"
She checked her watch, then looked up into his eyes, "Oh...kay!"
Cafe, London
Later
Harry laughed, "Okay, well I don't see the harm, I suppose you could say I'm here on business." he replied to her latest question, it was more like badly disguised flirting, it was good, it was also nice and simple and the destination seemed plenty simple too.
"What business?"
"I need to talk to a man who would potentially give me a lift to a very hard to reach place. When there I would then regretfully have to steal what I want."
"And what pray tell is so important that you can't buy it."
"They don't use currency." he explained, "I would just ask for one, but they would consider me a barely trained chimp up against their so called long evolution. Despite the fact I think only a small area of England hates me and perhaps a few women that wanted more than I had to offer. They on the other hand have entire species who hate them, and picked a fight with one that can produce weaponised genetically engineered hate mongers off a production line. Now, that doesn't seem like a smart move to me."
She looked at him steadily and for shame his playful sentence had dried up the twinkle he knew was leading somewhere very fun. "And again...what was that?"
He smiled, "A time machine, only...far more, not really interested in that functionality to be honest. For shits and giggles let's just say I can do that without one, I want a home that in a couple of thousand years will be actively sentient, mobile and have nearly endless amount of totally re-shapable space. I...want to steal a new home, not a time machine."
"That seems, I dunno almost wasteful of a Ta...time machine."
"No, not at all, I just see less value in their all so vaunted time travel abilities. I've been up and down time endlessly, you know what I saw."
"Thrill me, since this is hypothetical."
"Oh...obviously I mean...time ships aren't real right!" He grinned, seeing some twinkle return. "I saw a lot of the same thing happening in slightly different ways played out endlessly in human history. It...well it made me cry Clara. We never really learn."
"You should try a little further ahead maybe." she suggested, 'helpfully'.
"Perhaps you're right, perhaps I gave up too soon." Harry smiled, "Either way, I have a group, team really we do good things as it happens, not so much got that off the floor just yet, but the computing power on a Ta...Time machine would surely help. not a great fan of them myself, computers I mean, but they are useful tools my team can make use of to find us cases."
"And your team...does what?"
"Hypothetically we solve supernatural problems." Harry said, "But OBVIOUSLY the supernatural is as fictional as time travel, right?" he smiled.
"Well for a crazy guy, you're rather good looking."
"I sense a but."
"What if I said, the place you want to go is not there anymore."
"I'd say that put a crimper on my plans, but it's a planet they don't move...far. on the whole."
"This one went to an entirely different Universe. hidden away to stop that war you think is so stupid."
"I said it was stupid to start it, not that it was stupid." Harry corrected her. "Sometimes there is a foe so horrible you just...have to go to war." he said, "That I've seen many times, of course there are also wars about whose god has the bigger dick, I personally LOVE those, or women, your gender used to start a lot back in the old day, so you would for sure Clara, do they turn out super hot teachers with science knowledge beyond current Earth capabilities in a special college?"
"Oh yes, on a production line, we're grown, legs up."
He smirked, "You noticed that, sorry."
"I wouldn't wear a short skirt If I minded men looking, most only get to look."
"I also sense an interesting and potential hopeful proviso there."
"Sadly, I was quite interested in you, but with the firm knowledge that you're looking to steal a T.A.R.D.I.S., I can't take you where one drops by unannounced on a regular basis. Theoretically of course."
"Oh...of course, and in the same vein I would NEVER hurt the Doctor, I'm a huge fan of his work."
"Ahh, If I knew that bloke, I would...respect that opinion, even admire it but I still would regretfully say, not gonna take that chance."
"Well" Harry said looking into her eyes steadily, "There's a nice sturdy wall and alley way next door."
She went wide eyed. Then true wicked entered her dancing eyes and Harry's smile grew.
Brownstone, N. Y.
A Week Later, Mid-morning
Harry walked into the back door of the place and finally to the lounge, "HARRY" was the quick refrain.
"What the devil and perhaps how the devil did you lot get across the pond without me."
"It this wonderful new fangled thing called an Air plane" Allison said with a smirk.
"Oh, that was rather obvious," he admitted, "Well at least you're all in one place. Sorry I was gone so long the latest pickup turned out...trifle more complicated than I had hoped."
"How so...oh, you've recently had sex!" Sherlock suddenly cut off to say.
Harry closed his eyes, counting to ten in his head and waited for the explosion.
Instead he heard Allison chuckle. "Something simple I assume" she said.
He opened his eyes, looking into hers a long moment, "Very...but nothing is quite as simple as it at first appears is it." he said seriously, "Had I continued to watch the series past Tenant leaving I would've met her, at least on screen and perhaps been prepared."
"Prepared."
"Oh she was...interesting, I did wonder why an English teacher was so surprisingly knowledgeable, I twigged that I was perhaps dealing with a companion, but that doesn't really do her justice." he said, "Had I realized how very, not simple that was, I would've run like blazes. Especially since I think I changed the course of how that all unwound there." he said, "But I did need to find a planet, specifically the only one known to have brand spanking new T.A.R.D.I.S.."
"Doctor Who" Jamie and Sherlock said together.
Joan winced, "It's...entertaining I'll admit. So which did you meet, we're pretty up to date in this household."
"Clara Oswold."
Joan went wide eyed and Sherlock actually laughed aloud. "Arguably the single most important companion he ever had." Jamie remarked.
"Hmm" Harry said, "And also bug nuts crazy, don't know if they show that, but she really is totally out there in La La land that one. It works for her, I'll give you that." he shook himself, "Anyway, I had to find Gallifrey, it was universally misplaced, and had already caused issues wanting to come back, so bringing it back was of course NOT enough. In the end I had to time shift an entire planet, with their help of course, all the way up the arse end of their universes life time. All their enemies were already dead, and it's not like they had anyone to be all snotty with."
"Did you get it?" Sherlock asked with a grin.
"Oh yes, it's parked out back." Harry grinned.
"You seriously got a T.A.R.D.I.S. as what?" Joan asked.
"It's so much cooler than a space station, right?" he said looking at his team, "Plenty of room, pretty much infinite really, self configuring, can pretty much make everything we'd ever need, and more besides. There is a machine there that can essentially make any other machine, or room, or...anything. This is one time where technology truly lives up to being cool." Harry said seriously. "But...it came at a price."
"You look REAL nervous right now" Frost remarked.
"Heh," Harry laughed nervously, "You better come with me. All of you if you want to see an actual working T.A.R.D.I.S.."
"Try and stop me" Jamie said shooting out of her chair. Her boyfriend on her arse.
Joan rolled her eyes, "Do you know what it's like two of them in the same house watching that damned Brit cult thing!" she said as Allison stopped near her.
"Well, I watch it" Allison admitted, "I like it. Trust Harry to get something THAT cool to you know, be our house."
"Oh sure, if you're fine with something that runs on a constantly exploding star."
"Wow, just how much have you watched to know that."
"Urh...shut up" Joan said, exiting stage north very quickly. Allison chuckled, then followed at a more sedate pace. Then she walked into a rather boring tube, and into the large control room beyond it. "Of course" she said spotting not one, but TWO beautiful women standing there waiting.
The slightly classically better looking of the pair waved, "Hello, I'm Clara."
"Of course you are," Allison smiled, "And you...you I think I know...Madam Me"
"And how did you know that?" The aforementioned woman asked with a slight smile.
"I did explain, you're on TV here." Harry said, "I might've mentioned how that was pretty good reason not to come here."
"Yes, I remember distinctly how often you said that. Seemed like a really good reason to come." Me said with a large smile.
"I'm with her" Clara laughed, "Events unfolded, and my heart was urh...stopped at the moment of my death, and Me had been all the way through, and didn't look overly interested in doing it over again as much, and they gave Harry this T.A.R.D.I.S., we had the strange sight of one quite young Gallifrey and one very old in orbit with a dying sun, quite strange."
"So, you're technically dead." Allison asked.
"If you want to be technical." Clara said with a winning smile. "I assure you I work...quite well." she said her eyes wandering to Harry.
Me smirked.
"Oh brother." Allison said. "Well...welcome to the mad house then."
"See, no problems, I can't see what all that fuss was about," Me said, haranguing Harry who smiled at her fondly.
"What's their story, they seem to know each other." Allison asked Clara since they were still standing next to each other.
"Oh...weird story, somehow Harry was jumping all over the place at one point looking for away into the universe Gallifrey was stored into and in doing so he kept meeting her. She's basically the most immortal person you're going to meet, turns out so is he. There's...no simple there, I have to warn you. Me, I'm VERY simple." Clara said.
"Bull" Allison remarked, "You don't run off to another dimension with a man you're... simple with."
Clara licked her lips, "That's all he wants, simple. NICE and simple, that's me therefore."
"That's our fault." Allison said, "I didn't quite realize he'd run off scared to another dimension and he feels a LOT older, first blush he's been gone far more than a week."
"Oh hell, I happen to know he and Me cohabitated for about a hundred years throughout the Victorian era, and have done that more than once." Clara responded.
"Oh...great" Allison said tightly.
"I knew who you were, who you all were." Clara said, "He has pictures of you, on his phone."
"Yeah, co-star selfies we took on a lark." Allison smiled softly. Mostly at the thought he'd looked at them to remember them.
"That he looks at OFTEN" Clara said, "Now I don't hardly know him like ME does, but I bet she'll tell you the same."
"Will she?"
"Oh don't worry Me isn't looking for conventional, she never was. Oh she loves him like nothing or no-one else ever, and god forfend you try to get rid of her, but on the other hand you include her in your plans from the off you won't die a horrible, untimely death."
"So, in short somehow Harry met someone even more homicidal than me while he was away...great"
Clara laughed, "She's...VERY old, we met in the Viking era, that's when she was made immortal and we just came from near the end of the universe. That's...well... it's billions of years. My advice, make friends, she's not easy to get along with, but become her friend and you will have no better."
Allison smirked, "A week he was gone to me." she said wistfully. "He's lived potentially thousands of years without my demands, I'm unsure he's even slightly interested anymore."
"You ARE Allison, right?"
"Yes"
"So...the yard stick then" Clara said her eyes sharper.
"No...that's the blonde handing on the other mans arm"
"No..." Clara said moving her hair from side to side fluffing out her hair, then pointing to Me. "Those jeans hiding a great pair of legs, and you know not to brag but..." she stuck out her leg, then leaned down and flicked Allison's calve muscle, she stood proud, "I think he changed his yard stick."
Allison smiled a little.
Clara smiled more than a little, "Come on. Gird the lioness in her den"
"That used to be my arm" Allison noted.
"Thousands of years Allison" Clara advised. "They only ever had each other during that, and she had long periods where he wasn't around."
"Right, right" Allison said, then set her shoulders.
As soon as she got close Me shot away from Harry and engulfed Allison in a massive hug.
"What's this about?" Allison asked Harry.
"No idea" Harry laughed. Then somehow Allison found herself down at mouth level to me.
"Include me or die, it's that simple," Me whispered to her, then kissed her cheek and backed away, "I've heard a LOT about you all, but one name seemed to particularly weigh on his mind" she said normally.
Allison blinked and she was over the moment "I would love to say the same, but I have a feeling our evenings will be filled with stories, I mean obviously you're joining us, right?"
Me smiled a little, half hidden into a playful pout.
"Well, if they want to." Harry said, "Would you like to help save the world and a lot of supernatural cases that usually go unsolved in this world?"
"Sounds great, never done it, so...new experiences at my age are always worth doing." Me said immediately.
"Sounds fun," Clara said simply.
"I can move you lot in with a click of my fingers, if you'd like to decamp into the T.A.R.D.I.S. tonight?" Harry asked in a more raised voice, addressing the room.
There was a resounding chorus of affirmative to that request. Sherlock added, "I'd almost wish to join you, but the Brownstone is home, having a T.A.R.D.I.S. of your own is unspeakably 'cool' on the other hand."
Me, or as Harry called her...Ash looked at him, then glanced at Harry who just nodded then she appropriated Sherlock a moment and the two spoke in low voices. Finally Sherlock checked his watch, "Harry I'm..."
"Go right ahead, I hope you don't mind me telling her."
"In the circumstances, I'm glad you did" Sherlock said, then led her away.
Jamie strode up and looked at him then finally when he didn't' speak lifted a brow. He folded like a bad hand.
"She's an addict." he said succinctly. "She was in a bad way when I came upon her as I seemed to always do, and this was back in the 1920's so no meetings back then, no support. And she had basically unlimited funds to fund her habit." Harry said his voice soft. "But..she had me, so I got her clean and I stuck around a...while, until she eventually threatened to knife my genitalia repeatedly until I went looking for my lost planet." he said, "And that's one story, aka the stabbing thing, I regret telling THAT woman." he laughed, "She was of a mind to you on that score."
"Sounds like my kind of woman."
"Oh...she really is," Harry said, "But watch yourself okay." Harry said, "You are immortal dear sister, but she's...more, not technically immortal in point of fact, but she still outlived all the other immortals, and has a knack for killing them." Harry said looking at her seriously, "She s' VERY old darling sister, step carefully."
Jamie nodded, taking that on board.
Allison slipped into where Me had been and smiled, as too did Harry. "That arm missed you." he remarked.
"It's only been a week for me, but I just missed you, no silly euphemisms."
"Okay fine, I missed you all something fierce. But I knew I would get there in the end, and I've got plenty of life going spare, it took more than several lifetimes to find that way in, and then more to get it back out again, by then I was contacted by Clara it'd been so long we synced up again and I ended up entangled into the Doctors search for a way to return his home planet. Add a hundred years, the Doc and Clara met me the other end of that, and I created a way to set up boosters around the planet and move it out, and along the vortex. I will admit flying an entire planet through the vortex was...an experience, and well...I got home eventually and I got us sweet new digs."
"And two new members." Allison added.
"Oh yes, that will be fun, Clara small, utterly insane. Ash, small, dangerous, think TNT and diamonds. Oh and poison, that's a good analogy right there for her in a bad mood."
"Sounds like you care about her a lot" Allison said, "I'm looking forward to getting to know her."
"You are?" Harry said looking at her in no small amount of shock.
"Sure...of course I am, not even Jamie knows you like she knows you."
Jamie opened and shut her mouth then looked very thoughtful.
"Ash and I have a VERY different relationship than I have with the woman I call sister." Harry said with a grin.
"So whose the yardstick now?" Thea asked with a grin.
"Why would I want or need a yardstick, one should take every person as the unique adventure in interpersonal relationship they offer." Harry said with a smile.
"Oh god, save me now I think he might be MORE charming" Thea said dramatically, "My knickers collection isn't looking good."
"Do what I did" Clara suggested. "Just stop wearing them."
Harry smirked at her, "That's...enticing information."
"That was the idea" Clara smiled sexily at him.
"Be nice! I need to wait on Ash, make sure she's set up in the local meeting."
Clara nodded, "Well yeah...but later?"
"Later," he said carefully, "I will be hanging in the living room, centrally." he said looking steadily into her eyes, begging her to get the message.
Clara smiled, "That sounds like we could do that campfire thing mentioned earlier and tell stories." she said easily.
"That would normally send me running for the hills, but this Is Harry we're talking about, gotta think he's got some CHOICE stories" Frost decided.
"And sexy," Allison noted, "I doubt you lived like a monk, lot's of simple I'd guess and a lot of not so simple too perhaps."
"We, have a very long overdue conversation on that topic we need to have Ali." Harry said to her seriously "Like for me, LONG overdue!"
"I'm free...now" Allison said, rather keenly.
"Perfect, we'll be back," Harry said to the others, leading her away.
"One way or another, she's coming back with a smile" Thea opinioned.
"He's missed you all" Clara said seriously, "There's no reason you couldn't all be smiling"
"Funny you sounded a little...sad there" Elena said gently.
"I'm simple girl me" Clara said putting a smile on her face. "It's fine, simple is VERY good after all. "
"So you love him too" Thea said nodding to herself.
"I will not answer that bomb of a statement, I will say I've loved three, well really two in the end, men in my life. I'm just not saying who they were. One died, became a cyber man actually saved the world all told. I went rather off the Doctor, at the end there, he was offered a choice and it was me or his people, don't blame him for choosing his people, who would. It's how he went about that, I mean...I'd died." Clara said, "I out thought myself, it was bound to happen eventually you understand I thought I was being clever! And I was, only I didn't' have access to all the facts and made a decision based on what little I knew. A friend of mine had been accused of a crime, he did not commit, so he had this countdown timer thing, quantum link thing. It could be transferred so, believing this would force Me, or Ash as Harry calls her, to remove it. I transferred it to me, to force her hand at the opportune moment. Snag being, that when it transfers, it fixes it to the new recipient." Clara said with a small chagrined smile, "But...it was a good thing really. He had this gorgeous new baby girl, a girl who loved him, and well I was...me. So I felt I went pretty bravely to my death. Only to suddenly wake up billions of years in the future at the very moment of my death. They had this thing called an extraction room, it's what it sounds like but works with time. The Doctor saved my life, only he didn't' have entirely by best interests at heart really. Yes, I would be alive..technically, but he was going to remove ALL memory of my time with him. The BEST years of my life, and I was like...no chance."
They looked at her seriously.
"For one thing, I met someone special." Clara said smiling a tear on her cheek, "And seriously best time ever with the doctor. Running around space and time helping people or entire planets, we got pretty good at it I think. I lasted longer than most too, three years all told. More really in transit so to speak, or spent on planet in the flow of time. I may be quite close to forty."
"I should look so good" Thea remarked softly.
"So no chance, I just wouldn't accept that. But he wasn't so much giving me a choice. So while he was off doing something doctor-y, I used his sonic he taught me himself how to use to reverse the polarity."
"Nice one" Frost said with a grin.
"Yeah, he came back, we spoke I told him what I'd done, but he didn't really believe I'd done it, didn't really think I could do it." Clara said, "So he said coin toss, he presses the device, one of us loses our memory and that works out in the end."
"So you zapped him on his own ego."
"In effect," Clara smiled, "Luckily, who happened by, because of course he would! Me was on that dying planet we escaped to. But Harry. And here I am...simple, but still holding in there"
"That's a...impressive story, and yet doesn't so much answer the question, but rather tells us anyway." Elena said.
Jamie put an arm around her, "He'll end up surprising you."
"I've already lost one man I thought I could trust. I have no wish to cock up what I have for the imagined better option." Clara said seriously. "I'm here, because Me wanted him to bring me. That was quite clear."
"I think you might've misread him a little." Jamie said seriously. "It's not like he would've left you there."
"No...I mean, HERE with you." Clara said, "He was quite sweet, offered to steal me my own T.A.R.D.I.S. actually, hell of a thing to offer me. Then Me.." she laughed, "Stabbed him in the gut, this seemed to change his mind, and I got invited. So yeah...I'm here because of Me"
"So he's walking around like nothing is wrong and likely has a hole in his guts." Jamie said with sigh.
"Well I've seen him heal from worse." Clara said seriously, "His regeneration factor is quite insanely fast. I doubt he still has a wound."
"He's FINALLY fixed that then! Jesus I told him how to do that YEARS ago." Jamie said rolling her lovely eyes.
"He didn't care" Thea said darkly. "The last you... punished him, he didn't even heal it, just stopped the bleeding, or the broken ribs he got in your Natasha con or his hand," Thea said looking at Jamie steadily.
"You're looking at me like should've perhaps been the one to teach him to love himself?" she asked incredulously. "You are joking, yes?"
Thea looked down.
Jamie glared a moment longer, "I care! I love him too!" she said firmly, "but it's not like I was exactly a good role model myself is it? I suppose I have self worth, I have a giant well earned ego, so that's a self worth of sorts. But it seems like you think I was the one that was what...somehow to even know he didn't? See that in another person? Be able to express softer emotions to him?" she said her tone cutting like a knife. "I had no better home life than he did, and I killed my first victim to stop that cycle of abuse" she said her eyes flashing. "I could barely admit that I cared about Harry, I didn't let him sit next to me for YEARS, it wasn't until I learned of the power I had over men, that I let him even get close to me."
"You are Sal!" Clara said, "They call you Jamie I didn't make the connection. His...sister"
"Notice the dramatic pause." Frost smirked, coming back quickly from the rebuke.
"What of it Clara? You have something you'd like to add."
"Not in that way," Clara said, "You think I knew even as much as I picked up by hint there." she shot back, "You're feeling guilty, they aren't helping that feeling, but you shoot your crap here I'll just shoot it back. I wanted to compliment you actually."
Jamie took a breath, "Sorry...you're right, you're right, and...thank you whatever it was?"
"He's a GREAT snog. Apparently that was you." Clara said with a grin.
Jamie looked at he a long moment and then burst into laughter.
Frost and Thea exchanged a look with Elena. Nicely done Clara, they collectively thought.
