Chapter 10

The Dio Years

"You knew the entire time?"

"When you decided to play a few songs within my reach, you started to suspect. I played along."

She looks away to hide her embarrassment.

"How did you find out?" Mr. Aizawa asks as they enter the elevator.

"I saw you with a bunch of new students in the music room a while ago," she answers as she presses a button and the doors close. "One of them shouted about you being a fan of Black Sabbath." She hears him hums in approval as he leans back against the wall.

"Good job. You managed to sneak away unnoticed from a Pro Hero, an Underground Pro Hero nonetheless." She smiles at him when he gives her his rare praise.

"So who were they?" she asks as she leans back against the wall behind them, mirroring her homeroom teacher.

"I don't know the other two, really. But I saved the girl ten years ago. Her parents gave me an original copy of Heaven and Hell album to express gratitude. It seemed she still remembers me."

"That's cute," she teases, earning a quiet grumble from him. Then, the doors open and the pair walk out the elevator. "So what albums are your favorites?"

"All with Dio: Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, Dehumanizer and The Devil You Know."

"The Devil You Know?" she asks, raising her eyebrows in confusion. She had never heard of that album before. Is it a secret album that never made the light of day?

"Yeah, Dio's last album with Black Sabbath, just under a different name."

Well that explains why.

"As?"

"Heaven and Hell." She stutters in her step.

"…So let me get this straight. When Dio was with Black Sabbath they had "Heaven and Hell" named as a song, an album and a band?"

"This is the exact same band that had a song, an album and the band itself named as "Black Sabbath"."

"Touché," she replies, looking away for a moment. She almost completely forgot about that fact. "They really love that song, huh."

"You have no idea," Mr. Aizawa comments as they enter the common room, where her classmates are chilling at. Some are doing their homework and some are watching a show on the television while the rest is just lounging around.

"So why only Dio era Black Sabbath? As far as I know Dio had his own band and had fronted a few before Black Sabbath as well."

"When you combined a godly vocalist with the inventor of metal, along with powerful company and booming thunder, how could you not?"

"Weird way of saying Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and… either Bill Ward or Vinnie Appice."

"Hm. Go on then; I'll be in the kitchen, as usual, if you or the others ever need me," he tells her. She nods her head with an affirmed nod before he turns towards the kitchen. She watches his back until he disappears before she heads over to the couch.

"What you guys are watching?" she asks as Shouji makes room for her to seat.

"The current channel is doing a throwback season of old anime," Satou answers between munches of cupcake. "They're airing an anime called "Pumpkin Scissors"."

"What's it about?"

"Something about a foot soldier fighting against an armored tank."

"Cool." She watches the show with captured attention. But when the credit rolls, an idea pops inside her head. She feels a smile growing on her lips. She turns her attention away from the screen and towards her classmates around her. "Hey guys," she says out lout to anyone who can hear her. A few turns their head towards her with a questioning look. The smile on her lips only grows as giddiness courses through her system.

Now, she finally tells everyone.

"Did you know Mr. Aizawa has a favorite song?"

.

"Is there a reason for you to come get me from my room?"

"What? Is it wrong for me to do so?"

"Suspicion is written all over your face, kid."

"Sure it is."

Mr. Aizawa narrows his eyes and she smiles innocently in return. Then, he sighs in a mixture of defeat and tiredness. She takes that as a victory.

"Let's go then," he says as he closes the door behind him.

"Where's Eri?" she asks. She hadn't seen the little girl for a little while now and her class had been missing her.

"She's with Mirio and the others. They had promised to look after her for tonight and tomorrow. You and your classmates will see her the day after tomorrow."

"Deal," she replies with a smile as they enter the elevator. Just then, his phone starts to vibrate. He takes it out to look down at the screen before sighing. He presses the green button to answer the call.

"Mr. Aizawa!"

That's Mirio's voice. She peeks at the screen and notices her senior's face on it. Mirio is video calling Mr. Aizawa. Does he usually video call with anyone?

"What is it, Mirio?" Mr. Aizawa asks in a tired voice. Mirio has a bashful look on his face, rubbing the back on his head with one hand.

"We have a little problem. Eri keeps talking about the song but we don't know what she meant."

"She's asking for Rock and Roll Angel by Heaven and Hell."

She slowly turns her head towards her homeroom teacher with raised eyebrows.

"Oohh, I see. Thank you, Mr. Aizawa!"

"Tell Eri my class and I said hi."

"No problem!"

"Hm." The call ends and Mr. Aizawa pockets the phone just as the elevator doors open.

"I don't know if you're corrupting her or raising her right."

"The Devil You Know album is a great album."

"Alright then," she accepts readily without question as they enter the common room. Immediately, a few of her classmates wave at Mr. Aizawa who returns a small one. Then, they make their way into the kitchen. As Mr. Aizawa sits down in his usual seat, she quickly makes her way to the pot that already had his usual coffee brewed and pours it into his usual mug.

He raises an eyebrow at her when she sits right next to him, handing him his usual cup of coffee. He takes it wordlessly, inhaling the content before taking a small sip. The eyebrow is still raised until he puts down the mug and returns his gaze to the papers at hand.

Then, everyone starts tinkling in. She watches him from the corner of her eyes in amusement. He notices that everyone is in the kitchen, subtly looking around. Some are sitting with them at the dining table. Some are lounging around the counter and such. The rest is standing around. They're talking amongst themselves, but not quite loudly.

They are also occasionally glancing at her and Mr. Aizawa with a secretive hidden smile on their lips.

"I'm starting to suspect another thing right now."

"I have no idea what you mean, Mr. Aizawa."

"Don't lie to me, young lady."

"Okay, dad."

"Urgh."

Nevertheless, he dons his glasses and get to his paper grading, but the furrow in his brows tells her he is not shrugging this matter of. She starts to lightly tap her index finger on the table as nonchalantly as possible but couldn't keep the amused look from her eyes.

Then, Midoriya, who is sitting across her "working" on his homework, starts to hum a tune. Mr. Aizawa stops grading and slowly looks up at her green haired classmate, narrowing his eyes at him. Then, Todoroki taps his fingers in a certain rhythm, earning Mr. Aizawa's attention.

She could see that Mr. Aizawa recognizes the tune.

Then, Kirishima starts singing.

"Sing me a song, you're a singer. Do me a wrong, you're a bringer of evil."

Mr. Aizawa's eye twitches as Kirishima continues.

"The Devil is never a maker. The less that you give, you're a taker."

He's a little hesitant, seeing how his voice is a little quiet, but she could see he is gaining confidence as he starts to sing louder.

Mr. Aizawa slowly turns his head and narrows his eyes at her. She smiles back at him innocently.

"So, it's on and on and on, it's Heaven and Hell, oh well."

Everyone sings the lyrics in unison except for Bakugou, but she does see his lips moving. He also taps his foot along the rhythm very slightly but noticeable enough. That is when Sero starts beatboxing out of the blues, something that wasn't originally planned, but it is according to the rhythm so she's not complaining. The rest sings the guitar riffs acapella style before everything quietens down, except for Todoroki's rhythmic tapping.

"The lover of life's not a sinner. The ending is just a beginner."

She's a little surprised at how good Uraraka can sing, a job well done on her control of dynamics.

"The closer you get to the meaning. The sooner you'll know that you're dreaming."

Then, those who are sitting at the table start thumping the table with their fists along with the beat.

"So, it's on and on and on."

Their voices slowly get louder.

"Oh, it's on and on and on."

The thumping gets louder.

"It goes on and on and on."

She could see the shared excitement sharing between her classmates as the song builds up.

"Heaven and Hell! I can tell!"

Everyone sings the lyrics louder than before and then quickly sings the main guitar riff to fill in the space between vocals, fists still drumming on the table.

Mr. Aizawa looks exasperated as he looks around the kitchen, already given up to continue his grading as his pen and papers are already a little scattered from all the thumping.

"Well, if it seems to be real, it's illusion. For every moment of truth, there's confusion in life."

Kaminari is feeling it with the lyrics. He grabs a spoon and uses it as a microphone, singing loudly and passionately.

"Love can be seen as the answer. But nobody bleeds for the dancer."

The fist thumping is now changed into open palm slamming, creating another different sound for the rhythm.

"And it's on and on, on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on…"

The singing and the slamming slowly die out until they stop, ending the first half of the song. She then starts to lightly clap her hand, a silent sign of the shift in the tempo where the song starts to pick up the pace. Mina starts slapping the table to emulate the snare while Satou hits the table with a fist to emulate the kick drum. Then, everyone starts singing the guitar riff while clapping in time.

Finally Mr. Aizawa sighs. He takes off his glasses to pinches the bridge of his nose with his thumb and index finger. Then, he drops his hand and leans back into his chair.

"They say that life's a carousel. Spinning fast, you gotta ride it well. The world is full of Kings and Queens. Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams. It's Heaven and Hell, oh well."

She could feel more than see the excitement and awe from her classmates when Mr. Aizawa starts singing, perfectly in time with the beat, perfectly in tune with the song.

"And they'll tell you black is really white. The moon is just the sun at night. And when you walk in golden halls. You get to keep the gold that falls. It's Heaven and Hell, oh no."

Everyone was so entranced by his singing that they missed a whole bar to sing. She thinks they thought Mr. Aizawa would continue to sing.

"Fool, fool!" You've got to bleed for the dancer!"

Hearing her singing snaps everyone from their stupor before joining her, all have wide smile on their face. Even Bakugou has a tiny smirk on his lips.

"Fool, fool! Look for the answer!"

The clapping and drumming slowly gets louder as the song comes to an end.

"Fool, fool, fool!"

The drumming stops and everyone practically shouts the last note of the song before it all dissolves into loud rounds of laughter. Ashido then rounds the table to throw herself onto Mr. Aizawa's back, with Kaminari close on her feet. That seems to prompts everyone to crowd their homeroom teacher. She is caught in the clutter, gotten herself pushed into Mr. Aizawa's side. He balances her with an arm around her shoulders.

"You sing really well, Mr. Aizawa!" Ashido shouts.

"I didn't even know you can sing!" Kaminari comments.

"Very manly!"

Looking up from her spot, she sees that Mr. Aizawa's is resigned in his position. She could see he tries to look annoyed but his hidden affection for them shown through instead. It's barely noticeable, but she had been spending enough time with him to notice it.

"Did you guys know Mr. Aizawa also plays bass?" she intentionally starts and feels Mr. Aizawa snorts.

"REALLY?!" a few of her classmates squeal.

"Mhm," Mr. Aizawa affirms after another sigh. The kitchen is filled with excited squeals, making the homeroom teacher grimace but doesn't complain.

"Jirou, you really need to bring down your bass for Mr. Aizawa!"

"I hadn't played in over a year."

"But we really want to see you play!"

"Yeah! It would be super awesome!"

"Revelry in the dark."

"Mr. Aizawa, PLEASE!"

"Just this once!"

"Yeah! And then you can stop!"

"Just one song!"

"Heaven and Hell! Heaven and Hell! Heaven and Hell!"

"Alright."

"YAY!"

She feels a large hand placed on top of her hand, a familiar shape, familiar weight, familiar gesture. Mr. Aizawa has the tiniest smile on his face as he glances down at her from the corner of his eyes.

She smiles back, wider.

This is a little funny chapter to me, but I find it pretty okay. I love this fic; it is something I found very enjoyable even though I know many don't find it just as enjoy as I. Nonetheless, I love it.

No new fic anytime soon. I made more ideas that I made works done.

See ya.
