A Shocking Return
Yes ladies and gentlemen of Fanfiction! Chapter 11 is here with some more shocks and twists! So in the last chapter we witnessed Pedro eating a bag of dog droppings, Alex being swarmed by crabs. Violet deciding to stay in Rio with Nico, Sergio begging for their help and a mystery macaw trapped in the same room as Helena and Bia! Now in this chapter, as promised we will finally find out who the mystery macaw is! This chapter will mainly focus on the birds in São Paulo, which takes place at the same time as Sergio is discussing his plan with the other birds! Let's get started!
The whole room began silent again, because the older male macaw looked at the chick with watery eyes. Just thinking about the way that she looked, made his chest feel heavy and his eyes feel watery from his tears.
"Mister? Are you ok? Are you crying because your talons got hit?" The blue female chick chirped while curiously staring at the male macaw. However the male wiped away his tears and forced a fake smile to hide his inner pain.
"No, no it's not that kid! You just…you just remind me of someone. Someone who I…hurt a long time ago…" The bird drifted off as he pulled himself up onto one of the two beds in the room. Bia was more intriguing by what the bird was saying and decided to carry on the conversation.
"Who you hurt? Was it an accident?" She cutely replied while slowly waddling up to the male with a sad expression.
However the male carried on staring at the chick's face, and it just brought back a lot of painful memories. He was trying so hard not to mention anything about his past…but for some reason this chick was tearing down the strong barricade that protected his emotions from being shown.
"I wish it was kid…sorry I didn't get your name little one?" He smiled warmly, looking down at the youngling.
"Bia…my mommy picked it out for me!" She replied proudly while sticking out her tiny wing for the bird to shake. He thought it was cute how polite and confident she was for her age.
"It's a beautiful name Bia! It's a pleasure to meet you!" The male macaw smiled while glancing at her warmly and carefully shook her wing, trying not to squeeze too hard due to his bigger size.
"Actually…you kind of look like someone my uncle told me about?" Bia's eyebrow raised in curiosity as she looked at the bird's features and feathers. "Do you know a bird named Douglas?"
"Douglas? Where did you hear about this…Douglas?" The bird grinned while leaning down to face the small child. Helena was asleep on the other bed so she barely listened to their conversation.
"My uncle Nightfly talks about him all the time! He talks about the old samba club going up in flames! Then my daddy went in there to find the other birds to save them! But my daddy passed out due to the smoke hurting him!"
"Must have been terrifying! Was your dad afraid?"
"He told me he wasn't, but mommy says he was so scared that he pee peed himself! That must have been scary!"
"I bet you would have been very brave!" The male responded with a cheery smile which made her blush cutely. "So what else did your uncle say?"
"He told me that he went in there to save them, then the bad bird who threw us in here tried to hurt him!"
"Hurt him? What did he try to do?"
"Mommy stopped uncle Nightfly from telling me the rest because I'm too young! But it's not fair! I wanted to hear the ending!" Bia cried softly while sitting next to the bird on the bed.
To be completely honest, the male macaw struggled to comfort her because he had never been around a child before. But he did try his best…considering the fact that he isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
"There there! I'm sure you will know the ending soon!" The male patted her on the head to try and calm her down. But she started sniffing and wiping her eyes because she wanted to know the conclusion to the story.
"But I want to know the part that uncle Nightfly couldn't tell me! But it doesn't matter now! I guess I'll never know!" The blue macaw chick whined in complete disappointment while crossing her wings and looking away from the other bird.
The male macaw went completely silent, and he took a deep long breath. He knew that there would have to be a time where he tells her who he really is. But he didn't want to scare or shock the young chick. So he tried to put it as delicately as possible.
"This had to come out eventually!" He thought to himself as he tapped her on the shoulder and turned her around slightly to face him. "Listen Bia…I know this will come as a…Cough…shock to you! But I know the ending…to what really happened that very day!"
Bia widened her eyes in a kind of cute yet shocking manner. It was all starting to make sense to her now! The burnt feathers all over his body, his eyelid that looked like it had melted. The continuous coughing and gagging. Could this be the bird that her uncle Nightfly was talking about?
"Wait…so that means…you're him?! You're Douglas!" Bia responded rather shocked and confused at the same time. But what surprised her the most, was the feathers on his body looked half burnt and half greasy.
The male macaw nodded his head slowly and widened the smile on his beak. Looking pretty happy to see the little chick's excitement. He hasn't seen a smile on someone's face in so long that it made him feel like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
"Yes Bia…my name is Douglas! I am the bird who saved your uncle!" He responded very proudly while stroking the now excited and energetic child.
"I can't believe this! You're actually alive? But…but my uncle said you went to heaven?" The youngling replied simply. Also because of the fact Blu and Jewel don't want their kids to use the words died, dead or anything related to death.
"Nope! The ending of the story is…Julio who is unfortunately my dad, tried to send me to heaven! But I fought back and held him in place while your uncle got everyone to safety! I sacrificed myself to save them…because they are my family!"
"But…how did you survive? I thought the whole club exploded?" Bia asked innocently while sitting opposite him. This only made Douglas change his big smile into a slight frown. Trying to get the images of that day out of his head.
Soon all of these flashbacks hit Douglas all at once, and he started groaning while holding his head between his wings. It's like he was having a mental breakdown which wouldn't be a great feeling.
"Douglas? Are you ok?" A new voice emerged from behind Bia that revealed to be Helena. The female dove sat on the other side of the military macaw who tried to regain the strength and confidence to tell them exactly what happened.
After a few short breaths and the attempts to stop panting, he finally managed to compose himself to tell the story about how he survived the explosion.
"It happened a while ago…just after the explosion, I thought it was lights out for me…"
Flashback - The Old Samba Club - Douglas's POV
"Ahhh! My back!" I whined in agony, as I slowly attempted to rise to my feet. But I noticed something strange that was just above me. For some reason there was a metal bowl covering over me like some kind of bomb shelter.
I stretched out my right wing, and pushed the bowl off of me. What I saw on the other side was incredibly terrifying yet upsetting. The whole place…everything beautiful and wonderful about this place was gone!
"Everything is gone…why did it have to come to this?" I spoke to only myself while darting my eyes around the now destroyed club. I was too focused on my own thoughts that I didn't hear another life form behind me.
"Because you were the cause of this! My ungrateful and weak minded son!" I heard a grumble from behind me, that revealed to be my father. His wings were burnt all over, just like mine. But for some reason he still had that look of murder in his eyes.
"How did you…how did you…" I stuttered nervously, while trying to figure out how we both survived the explosion. I was in shock…I couldn't believe that the both of us survived this horrible tragedy.
"How did I survive? Well…after your little act of heroism! I dove under the bar and covered myself with a metal bucket! After a few minutes I found you unconscious on the floor with your feathers on fire! So I quickly put the flames out and covered you with the metal bowl for protection! Then I waited for the humans to put out the flames before returning to the outside to breathe! Once again…you owe me your life!"
"NEVER! I'm never working for you again father! You've always hated me even though you never showed it! It was all an act when you pretended to care! Is that why you killed mom? Because she actually cared about me and the choices I made? Because that wasn't enough for you was it?!" I screamed back at my father with all the hatred I could muster.
"How dare you! I saved your life! I made the choices for us…"
"NO! YOU MADE THOSE CHOICES TO SUIT YOU! I'M DONE! I'm never working for you again! I'm going to find my friends, and they will deal with you once and for all!" I screamed with determination as I spun around to leave. However…I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head and it all went dark so very quickly!
End Of Flashback
"Then…I woke up here! My dad came in and saw me angrily staring at him. Alexander and this other macaw named Diego came in. Then when I refused to help my dad a third time, the three of them beat my talons! Left the room, and told me that they would return to Rio to kill the bird who almost tried to stop him!" Douglas finished while sighing in a deep yet depressed manner.
"But Douglas…why would Julio kidnap us if we did nothing wrong?" Helena started lowering her voice in a calm and soothing way.
"I don't know that Helena…I wish I knew! But whatever my dad must be planning I know it's not going to be easy…"
"Why? What is he going to do? Douglas?" Bia chirped while nuzzling her face into Helena's chest for comfort and warmth.
The military macaw pulled himself upwards to lean in closer to the blue macaw chick. "Nothing little one! My father is clearly just doing all of this to lure him here!"
"Who?"
"Your uncle Nightfly!" Douglas whispered to her before stroking the chick on her head. "Don't you worry! My best friend is Sergio and he will help us get out of here! That's a promise!"
Back To Rio…
All of the males had finished packing all of the items that they need for their trip to São Paulo. Kipo and Michael due to their bigger size was going to carry all of the prepared items.
Alice volunteered with Lexi and Eva to stay behind and watch the children, while the others planned to go with Sergio.
"Are you sure you won't want to come with us? You don't have to stay here if you don't want to?" Jewel asked the female goose who cradled Hazel in her wings while she cried out the last of her tears.
"Absolutely! I'm not the violent type like my sister! Besides, I don't want my little Hazel to lose her mother!" The goose smiled down at her daughter while rocking her from side to side in a slow and smooth motion.
The female spix macaw hugged her friend briefly, before joining her husband with the others that were in a straight line on the beach. Sergio was just in front of them going through some last minute details.
"So…as I mentioned before, I do have a contact in São Paulo who could help us find out where my wife and Bia are imprisoned! We only have a few hours to pull this off, and I need to know if everyone would be up for the task?" The Spanish dove declared while looking out to the mixed group of birds with a straight face on. "Good! We leave as soon as possible!"
"Great! The longer I wait, the more impatient I get!" Nightfly called out as he prepared himself for the journey.
Siax and Alex were talking briefly for a moment about a few details regarding plan B. However the snowy owl still isn't convinced that it's not as safe as his girlfriend is making it out to be.
"Honey, I'm only concerned about your well being! I just think it might be too risky?" Alex anxiously spoke while shivering in a frightened manner.
Siax leaned in and gave him a kiss on the beak to calm him down.
"We might not even need to go with my idea! It's only a last resort!"
"You promise?"
"I promise my love!" Siax giggled before kissing him on the beak again in a loving manner.
Malcom, Nico, Violet, Zara, Pedro and Rafael were all talking amongst each other near the front line, while Tanya and Nightfly stood beside Blu and Jewel. The four blue birds kept wondering what was taking Sergio so long.
"For the love of…SERGIO? We going to leave any time soon?" Blu called out to the dove who was just finishing up a conversation with Martin.
"Yes we can leave now! Martin was just telling me about how he knows how to read! It's quite interesting!"
"Yes I know…but we have a more important task right now! So let's get going!" Tanya called out as she gave her boyfriend a quick kiss on the forehead which made him blush.
"Alright my friends! Next stop…SÃO PAULO!" Sergio declared enthusiastically before taking to the skies.
"YEAHHHH!" Everyone chorused all at once as they all took off and reached for the sky as they started making their way to their next destination.
Fifteen seconds into the flight…one question still remained that needed answering in Jewel's mind. So she picked up some speed and managed to fly alongside the Spanish dove, who turned his head to face her.
"So? What's the name of this bird you are taking us to?" Jewel curiously asked while trying not to keep her eyes off of her surroundings.
"You won't know him, he's only been here a few times! Last I heard he was here for some football match with his friends? Or something like that!"
"What's the bird's name?" Jewel asked again, but this time in a more serious tone of voice. Because she had a funny feeling that she already knew the bird that they were about to see.
"His name is Sandro!" The dove simply responded while taking the lead.
Jewel mentally wing palmed herself and carried on in her flight. "Of…course it is!" She whispered sarcastically to nobody in particular.
Alright ladies and gents! Yes! Douglas had survived the fire in the old samba club along with his dad! And now…Sandro is to return too? What will this mean for chapter 12? Well I'll tell you one thing…The Enemy Of My Enemy Is My Friend Part 2 is on its way! See you all soon!
