Hello and welcome to Chapter 10 and the first real chapter in the Devimon Arc. In the last few battles, the Digidestined faced off against Kuwagamon, held off Shellmon and Ebidramon with the help of Naruto and Dorumon, and sank Seadramon and Coelamon with help from Hinata and Lunamon. All the while, Agumon and Gabumon Digivolved into Greymon and Garurumon respectively for the first time. Now it's Biyomon's turn to Digivolve into Birdramon, but this time, Naruto and Hinata won't be there to help them, and neither will their partners. Instead, they will have a close encounter with Sasuke and Sakura and we shall see who their partners are.
PS: Sasuke's partner might actually surprise you either in a good way or in a bad way.
Chapter 10:
Susumu and Yuuko both looked at each other for a moment, then they both looked back at Davis and nodded. Davis then entered the apartment and went to Kari's room.
"Hello," Kari asked.
"Hey Kari," said Davis.
"Oh, hey Davis," said Kari. "What brings you here?"
"I'm going to look after you while your parents are away," Davis told her with a blush. "I know they'll only be gone until the evening, but still."
Kari then giggled. "Oh Davis, you're sweet."
On File Island Makuramon was watching an event that took place last night and was laughing his tail off. What he was watching was the moment when Tai and Matt kissed thanks to Naruto's actions.
"That was just classic," Makuramon laughed. "Simple but ingenious…! I wish I had thought of that…!"
Makuramon continued to laugh for sometime.
On Infinity Mountain, Sasuke and Sakura approached Devimon's throne, having been summoned by the devil digimon himself.
"You called for us sir," said Sakura.
"Those Digidestined children have progressed well," Devimon told them. "Both the Digidestined of courage and friendship have managed to digivolve their their digimon. It's only a matter of time before the others are able to digivolve their digimon. Fortunately they haven't figured out the importance of their digivices, but with their guardians guarding them and with their knowledge of the digivice, it's only a matter of time before they realize it."
"What are we going to do about it," Sasuke asked.
Devimon then took out another Black Gear. "They'll be approaching the Yocomon Village soon, so I think it's time we make a move. Take this Black Gear to Miharashi Mountain and plant it into Meramon. Meramon will take care of the Digidestined, but I want you to take care of the two guardians."
"We'll take care of them sir," said Sakura.
"Good, now go," Devimon ordered.
Sasuke and Sakura then left the throne room and entered the dungeon. Once in there, they approached a cell where two particular Digimon were waiting. One of them resembled a satyr and was about as tall as Naruto during his rookie nine years. The other looked like a flower bud with stubby arms and legs and two leaves that allowed it to fly.
"Oh, it's you two," said the Satyr.
"Indeed," said Sasuke.
Meanwhile, the group was walking through the forest once more, having left the lake moments ago. Like before, there were multiple road signs that had no purpose being there other than for just being there. As they walked, Dorumon and Lunamon interacted with the Digidestined's digimon, telling them stories about their time in the real world.
"So you guys have been to the real world," Agumon asked.
"Yeah, more or less," Dorumon answered (Dorumon is about as big as Guilmon).
"How were you able to get around without causing a rucis," Tentomon asked.
"Our partners as you saw back there are able to use abilities similar to what we digimon can do," Lunamon explained. "Apparently, one of Naruto's abilities is to teleport from one place to another, something that, as he explained, he learned from his father. The only thing I don't get is how he's able to learn it from him when his father… actually, I'll tell you later."
"Oh come on," Patamon pouted. "Now we've got to know."
"Maybe we should ask Naruto himself," Tentomon suggested.
While the Digimon were interacting with one another, the Digidestined were having their own conversation with Naruto and Hinata.
"So you're saying that you and Hinata met Dorumon and Lunamon from eggs that came out of your computer," Izzy asked.
"Yeah, pretty much," Naruto answered.
"Why does that sound so familiar," Tai asked himself.
"How long have you had your partners," Sora asked.
"Since October 10th, 1997," Hinata answered.
"I remember now," Tai gasped. "That was the day I first met you two."
"Come to think of it Tai, you did mention that met them recently on the day that Naruto became our assistant athletics teacher," Matt acknowledged.
"I also recall the actual teacher ditching him rather frequently," Joe pointed out.
"Please don't remind me of that," Naruto sweat dropped.
Everyone laughed.
"Hey, Naruto," said Sora. "Where are we going now?"
"Our next stop will be a small village called the Yokomon Village," Naruto told her. "Be warned though, to get there, we'll have to cross a field of telephone polls where the air is hot."
Suddenly, two figures leaping from tree to tree flew right passed the group.
"What was that," Izzy asked.
"I'm not sticking around to find out," said Mimi.
The group continued to walk through the forest until the came to the end and entered the field of telephone polls Naruto mentioned. As they exited the forest and entered the field, Naruto and Hinata stopped, much to everyone's confusion, Dorumon and Lunamon standing by their sides. Next thing they knew, the two shinobiand their partners turned around and Naruto began to give an announcement.
"Alright everyone, if this this is your first time crossing an area with hot desert air, listen up," Naruto started. "The Yokomon Village is on the other side of this field, and unless you brought your own, there won't be any water or shade until we reach that village. And you'd all better stay close, there's no telling what we might run into. For those who don't want to cross this field, please speak out now."
No one made a sound.
"Okay then, let's move out," Naruto then turned around and began walking through the field, everyone else behind him.
As usual, Hinata stood at the back to ensure no one was following them, using her Byakugan to search for any followers. Tai and Mimi were the closest to Naruto while Matt and T.K. were the closest to Hinata, with Izzy, Sora, and Joe filling in the middle. The digimon walked side-by-side with their respective partners.
"He's so commanding," Hinata thought to herself.
On Miharashi Mountain, Sasuke and Sakura had arrived, the Black Gear at the ready for their encounter with Meramon. With them were the two digimon they took out of the dungeon cell. The four then walked up the mountin, to meet with Meramon.
Out on the field, the group were making their way towards the Yokomon Village. As they walked, the Digidestined noticed that none of the telephone polls had connecting wires, which for whatever reason reminded them of the telephone booths and the trolley car from before. But what really caught their attention was the hot desert air.
"Wow, Naruto wasn't kidding about the hot desert air," said T.K. "It's so hot I could feel the heat coming up through my socks."
"Well T.K., maybe you should put your shoes back on," Matt suggested.
"Guess you're right Matt," T.K. agreed. "I don't even remember why I took them off in the first place."
"This hot desert air is destroying my complection," Mimi complained. "How much further is it?"
"We should be reaching it soon," Naruto answered. "But just be thankful that your complection is all that this heat is destroying. We'll make it before you know it."
"Well, I guess I can't complain that much if my dream boat says we can make it," Mimi smiled, getting a little close to Naruto, much to Hinata's annoyance.
"Is that all you can think about Mimi," Joe complained. "We'll be lucky if we even servive this hike."
"Except that you already survived attacks from visious monsters three times already," Hinata pointed out. "Besides, Naruto did warn you about this air beforehand."
"I guess, but I didn't think that the air would be this bad," Joe countered.
"There's something I want to know," said Sora. "You two have been here for a month before we entered this world, why didn't you try to help us before with Kuwagamon? More importantly, why did you wait until the last minute to help us at the beach and the lake?"
"We have our reasons," Naruto simply answered before having a flashback.
Flashback:
Not long after Naruto and Hinata arrived in the Digital World, they immediately started scouting File Island, searching for a good place to set up camp. Sadly, they ran into many obsicals along the way. They battle Kuwagamon, Shellmon, Ebidramon, Seadramon, Coelamon, and more and always managed to get away. Their travels eventually led them to come across a humanoid lion.
"Who are you," said the lion.
"Naruto Uzumaki," Naruto identified himself.
"Hinata Hyūga," Hinata identified herself.
"And who are you," Naruto questioned.
"Name's Leomon," Leomon identified himself. "Makuramon told me about you two."
"Then you know that we don't belong in this world or the real world," Hinata pointed out. "We just want to go home to the shinobi world, but we can't leave until these Dark Masters are defeated."
"I understand your need to go home," Leomon nodded. "I have seen many who lost their homes as a result of the Dark Masters' actions. Sadly, only the Digidestined with the eight crests can truly defeate the Dark Masters. But before they can face them, they must prove themselves worthy."
"Prove themselves," Naruto questioned. "What is it with all of these rules and prophesies all of the sudden?"
"Calm down Naruto," said Hinata.
"We met Leomon sometime after coming here," Dorumon explained.
"Yeah, when Makuramon brought us here, he showed us around and introduced us to Leomon," Lunamon added.
"Is that so," Naruto asked.
"Indeed," said Leomon. "Now I know you two can take care of yourselves even without your partners. But I have a request to make."
"And that would be," Hinata asked.
"When the Digidestined arrive, I want you not to get involved unless it's absolutely necessary," Leomon explained. "You two could easily handle just about any digimon either here or anywhere else on this island, but you won't be the ones being tested."
"I don't like where this is going," said Naruto. "I only hope you know what you're doing."
End of Flashback:
"I just wish we didn't," Naruto sighed.
Suddenly, Tai noticed something in the distance. "Hey what's that?"
Tai took out his mini telescope to get a better view and saw what appeared to be a village off in the distance. "Is that the Yokomon Village?"
"It is," Hinata confirmed, using her Byakugan.
"Okay, what are we waiting for," said Tai. "Let's get out of this desert."
Tai and the other Digidestined then started running towards the village, leaving Naruto and Hinata behind.
"I thought I told them not rush in on anything," Naruto shook his head in amusement.
"Well, they are just kids, Naruto," Hinata giggled. "Besides, there aren't any traps up ahead so it should be safe."
"I guess," Naruto agreed.
"Naruto, I sense a presence," Kurama warned.
"What is it, Kurama," Naruto questioned.
"It's coming from that volcano," Kurama motioned to Miharashi Mountain.
"What is it, Naruto," Hinata asked.
"Kurama sensed a preasence over at Miharashi Mountain," Naruto told her. "I think we should investigate."
"Hey, aren't you guys coming," Sora asked.
"You guy go on ahead," Naruto told Sora. "We're going over to that volcano over there."
Naruto, Hinata, Dorumon, and Lunamon then made their way towards Miharashi Mountain, leaving the Digidestined to head to the Yokomon Village.
At Miharashi Mountain, a digimon the resembled a man made of fire was resting in the mouth of the volcano. Suddenly, Sasuke, Sakura, and the two digimon arrived on the scene, one of them was holding a Black Gear in his hand.
"Who's there," said the digimon.
"Meramon," said Sasuke. "From this moment on, you shall serve Lord Devimon."
"And what makes you think I'd work for that devil," Meramon questioned.
"We don't think, we know you will work for him," said Sakura.
"It's rather simple actually," the plant-like digimon explained. "You shall be inbedded with one of these and you shall work for him."
"You can try to resist of you wish," said the satyr digimon. "But you won't be able to melt or burn it even at your highest temperature."
"Is that right," said Meramon, taking up a fighting stance.
"Allow me to demonstrate," Sasuke then threw the Black Gear into Meramon's torso.
The flame digimon simply laughed at first, but when the gear hit his torso, instead of burning or melting instantly, it buried itself into his body. Meramon roared in pain as he suddenly started to feel hot, so hot that even he couldn't bare it.
Meanwhile the Digidestined finally arrived at the Yokomon Village and they were caught off guard by what they saw.
"Wow, when Naruto said that this was a Yokomon village, he wasn't kidding," Sora gasped.
"Yeah," Tai agreed. "From so far away, everything looked so big."
"But they're so cute and tiny," Mimi exclaimed.
"Okay, question," Biyomon started. "Who here knows where we can get a drink?"
"And just what do giant digimon drink," asked one of the Yokomon.
"Me," Sora asked. "I'm no digimon."
"My friend Sora is what's called a human being," Biymon explained. "Yes, we know they look funny. In spite of this, they are all actually very nice."
"A human being," said one of the Yokomon. "You mean like those two who came by our village some time ago?"
"If you're not digimon, then what are you doing here in the Digital World," another Yokomon asked.
All of the Yokomon then started asking the same thing.
"This is great," Joe sighed. "There's no way we're all going to fit into this place. Why did Naruto and Hinata have to leave us?"
"Relax, Joe," said Tai. "I'm sure they had their reasons. And besides, at least the natives here are friendly."
"Oh, my," said Mimi. "I would just love to take one home and put it on my bed with all my other stuffed animals. And I wonder if my sweet Naruto would let me keep one."
"Hmpf," said Matt, getting rather annoyed with Mimi. "There she goes again. Do you think Mimi sees the same thing we see and hears the same thing we hear? I'm not sure anymore. And why is she so obsessed with Naruto?"
"Maybe she's an alien spy," said Izzy. "Or more likely, she just can't get over that crush she has on him. I may not be an export, but I think it's obvious that Naruto has a thing for Hinata. I just hope Mimi realizes this soon."
"T.K. is tired and hungry," Patamon told the natives.
"He's not the only one," Joe sighed.
One of the Yokomon then asked, "Biyomon, just when did you Digivolve?"
Biyomon then began telling the Yokomon her story. "When I met Sora, we formed a special bond, which is magical, at least I think it's magical."
"You don't talk like us anymore, that's for sure," said another Yokomon. "Is that how all Biyomon talk?"
"I don't know, I've never met another Biyomon," Biyomon answered. "This is just how I talk. I suppose I just picked it up from Sora. She is a wonderful and kind human being, and I've already learned a lot from her."
"We still don't understand how you Digivolved," said another Yokomon. "What is it about being around human beings that makes it happen? I know Dorumon and Lunamon explained something about forming a bond with them, but still."
"I don't know how those two are able to Digivolve myself, but I do know this," Biyomon explained. "Sora needed me and I had to protect her. When she was in danger a power came flowing through me. I don't know what had happened, but then a light came shining down on me and all of a sudden I realized I'd Digivolved."
While Biyomon explained, Sora muttered to herself, "She had to protect me? Wait a second. Now I get it. That's why she's always following me around.
Sora then remenessed, "When Tai needed him, Agumon Digivolved to Greymon to protect him, and Garurumon did the same for Matt. They Digivolved for us."
Sora giggled, "We're lucky kids."
Sora then remembered, "Wait a minute, Dorumon Digivolved to Dorugamon even though Naruto wasn't in danger and Lekismon did the same for Hinata. If they were able to Digivolve without their partners being in any danger…"
Sora's thoughts were suddenly cut off when Biyomon said, "Sora, we're invited to have dinner with the Yokos. They said they'd be willing to share their food with all of us. They'll even do it for Naruto and Hinata when they get back."
"Oh wow," said Sora in amazement.
Everyone cheared.
"Let's see hands if you want lemonade," said Joe
"I wonder what Yokomon eat," said T.K.
"I'll take a cheeseburger, fries, and a shake," said Tai. "Or better yet, takoyaki."
"I wonder what they will be serving," Izzy thought. "Perhaps a bone with meat… lettuce topped with fish, or…"
Izzy's thoughts were cut off when T.K. shouted, "Water, water…!"
"Whater," Izzy gasped, looking where T.K. was.
"Look everybody," T.K. called out. "A fresh-water fountain! Hurray!"
"All of the water here is piped in from a spring at Miharashi Mountain," one of the Yokomon explained. "It's the best water in the Digital World."
"Forget the Digital World," Tentomon bragged. "Mount Miharashi water is the best in all the galaxy."
"Where's Mount Miharashi," T.K. asked.
"Out there," all the Yokomon pointed towards the volcano.
"Hey that's a live volcano," said T.K.
"Yes, but the heat boils away all the germs," one of the Yokomon explained.
"Wait a minute," said Matt. "Isn't that where Naruto and Hinata headed for earlier?"
"Yeah it is," Sora answered.
At Mount Miharashi, Naruto and Hinata were walking up with Dorumon and Lunamon by their side. As they walked, they kept their senses sharp, Naruto used his sage powers and emosion sensor, Hinata used her Byakugan, and Dorumon and Lunamon used their respective senses. As they walked, they could all sense that something wasn't right and while Naruto and Hinata recognized this, Dorumon and Lunamon did not.
In the caldera, the Black Gear had completely sunk into Meramon's body and he unleashed an extreme amount of heat that caused the water there to evaporate instantly. Sasuke protected Sakura and the two Digimon using his Susanoo. Sensing the extreme heat, Naruto protected Hinata, Dorumon and Lunamon using his Kurama avatar.
"What's happening," Lunamon asked.
"I don't know," Dorumon answered. "But I get the feeling that we're about to find out…!"
Back at Yokomon Village, everyone heard a strange noise.
"If I'm not mistaken, that noise preceds and eruption," Izzy deduced.
Next thing everyone knew, a tower of fire bursed out of the fountain, much to everyone's shock.
"What is happening," Tai gasped.
"The water evaporated," said one of the Yokomon.
"That's okay, because the lake is always full of water," said another Yokomon.
"I'll check it out," said Tai.
"Let's all go," said Matt.
Everyone ran over to the lake, but when they got there, they saw that the lake was completely empty.
"The water's all gone," said Izzy in disappointment.
"Goodness," said Mimi. "Where did it go?"
"Somebody pulled the plug," said T.K.
"Alright, let's not panic," said Tai.
At Mount Miharashi, Naruto and Hinata reached the top only to be greated by a very angry Meramon.
"So that's Meramon," Naruto gasped, checking his D-Power. "Meramon, champion level, special attacks, Burning Fist and Magma Blast."
Meramon roared. "I'm getting too hot…!"
Meramon then charged right passed them and made his way down the mountain.
"Oh no," Hinata gasped. "He's heading right for the village!"
"We'd better get back," Naruto told her.
But before Naruto and Hinata could move, they sensed another presense and were greated by familiar faces.
"It's been a while, Naruto," said Sasuke, making himself known to his rival.
Naruto turned around and saw his long-time rival. "Sasuke…!"
"And it's good to see you two, Hinata," said Sakura.
Hinata noticed the pink hair as well. "Sakura…!"
Back at Yokomon Village, everyone was trying to figure out what was going on. First a piller of fire bursted out of the fountain, then the lake tried up, now the well the Yokomon used was found to be bone dry. Next thing they knew, a pillar of fire identical to the one from the fountain burst out of the well, catching everyone off guard a second time.
"What is going on," Matt asked before remembering something. "Hey wait a minute, Sora. Didn't you say you saw Naruto and Hinata head for Miharashi Mountain?"
"Yeah, I did," Sora confirmed.
"That's the place where the water comes from," said Joe.
"That's right," said one of the Yokomon. "The wateter comes from a lake on the top of Mount Miharashi."
"Mm-hmm," said Izzy. "They must have sensed that the water supply was in jepordy somehow, so they went up there to investigate."
"I guess, but we don't dare go up there," said one of the Yokomon. "The mountain is guarded by a fiery Digimon called Meramon. He's hideously dangerous, so those two had better be careful."
Tai took out his mini telescope. "I want a closer look at that mountain. You say this character Meramon is a fiery Digimon? What does he look like?"
While looking through his telescope, Tai noticed a faint light making its way down the mountain. Getting a closer look at it he saw Meramon.
"Never mind there he is," Tai gasped. "He's coming…! He's coming our way…!"
"He burns up everything he touches," said one of the Yokomon.
"But he never comes down off the mountain," said another Yokomon. "This is very strange behavior for him."
"What about Naruto and Hinata," Izzy asked.
"I'll check," Tai looked again and saw Naruto and Hinata face to face with Sasuke and Sakura. "They're at the top of the mountain. Two other people are with them and they don't look too friendly."
On Mount Miharashi, Naruto and Hinata were staring at Sasuke and Sakura and viseversa. Standing with them were Dorumon and Lunamon on Naruto and Hinata's side and the satyr and the plant-like Digimon on Sasuke and Sakura's side. From what Naruto could tell, Sasuke maintained his classic hairstyle while Sakura had grown her hair proportionally back to its original length before the chunin exams (basically just Shippuden Sakura with long hair).
"What are you guys doing here," Naruto questioned. "And who are those two, your Digimon partners?"
"You've gotten smart, Naruto," said Sasuke sarcastically. "Meet Aegiomon, my partner and apprentice."
"And you'd better believe that," Aegiomon told them.
"And this little one here is Lalamon," said Sakura. "She's my partner."
"I'll follow Sakura wherever she goes," Lalamon announced.
Naruto and Hinata checked their D-Powers.
"Aegiomon, a god man Digimon, champion level," Naruto read. "Special attack, Attract Echo."
"Lalamon, a plant Digimon, rookie level," Hinata read. "Special attack, Seed Blast."
"I don't get it though, Sasuke," Naruto muttered. "How did you get a Digimon like that as your partner? Last time I checked, you were still on edge with everyone else back home."
"I'm just as surprised as you are, Naruto," said Sasuke as he and Sakura analized Naruto and Hinata's partners with their D-Powers. "Dorumon, a beast Digimon, rookie level, special attack, Metal Cannon."
"Lunamon, a mammal Digimon, rookie level," Sakura read. "Special attack, Tearing Shot."
"Well, it's been nice seeing you guys, but we'd better get going," said Naruto as he and Hinata got ready to head back to the village.
Unfortunately, just as Naruto and Hinata were about to head over to the village, Sasuke stopped them in their tracks with a wall of Amaterasu flames. As it turned out, Sasuke and Sakura had other ideas.
"Going so soon," Sasuke taunted.
"Ahh, I'm burning," said Meramon as he made his way down the mountain. "Too hot…!"
"What did you do to him," Naruto questioned with anger.
"A little something called a Black Gear," said Sasuke. "But enough about that Naruto. You and Hinata have been interefearing with Lord Devimon's affairs and that's something he can no longer tolerate."
"What are you going to do to us," Hinata asked.
"A little something we know as killing," said Sakura.
Sasuke then drew his sword. In response, Naruto took out a scroll and performed a summoning jutsu, summoning out a sword of his own. Sakura and Hinata meanwhile took up a fighting stance and the Digimon simply prepared to attack.
"Burning," Meramon screamed. "Burning, burning, BURNING…!"
At the village, the Digidestined and the Yokomon were shocked by what they were hearing, but even more so by the fact of where Meramon was heading.
"Look Meramon's heading towards the village," Sora gasped.
"And it looks like Naruto and Hinata have their hands full," said Tai. "I don't think they'll be able to help us this time. RUN…!"
Everyone started running towards the lake where they started entering the old ship in the middle through a hole in its bow. Tai and Sora guarded the entrance as the Yokomon enerted the ship through the hole. The others were on the ship, helping all the Yokomon onbored.
"Easy, you'll be okay," said Tai.
"Who's not here," said Sora before realizing that Biyomon wasn't there. "Biyomon…!"
"Everyone keep running," said Biyomon. "Just follow the one in front of you."
"Biymon, save yourself," Sora called out. "Come down while there's still time…!"
Having heard Sora's call, Biyomon replied, "I can't leave here until all my friends are safe Sora…!"
"Okay, I suppose I'll just have to come up there after you then," Sora then made her way over to Biyomon's position.
"Wait Sora, you'll never make it," Tai called out.
On the ship, the others noticed as well.
"Hey where's Sora going," Joe gasped.
"Sora come back," Matt called.
But Sora didn't listen and just continued running up to Biyomon's position, hoping to get her onto the ship before Meramon arrived.
On the Mountain, Naruto and Hinata faced off against Sasuke and Sakura.
"I'm impressed to see you with a sword Naruto," Sasuke admitted. "Since when were you a capable swordsman?"
"A lot has happened since we ended up here Sasuke," Naruto answered. "There's a lot about me and Hinata that you don't know."
"The notion works both ways," Sasuke pointed out.
"Is that right," Naruto questioned.
Sasuke then charged at Naruto, wielding his sword. Using his own sword, and using the swordsmanship skills he learned from Chikara, Naruto was able to block Sasuke's attack. But upon feeling the force of the attack as their swords clashed, Naruto could sense that something was off. He gasped upon realizing it and Sasuke smirked upon sensing Naruto's reaction, knowing that he got the message.
"So that's it," Naruto thought.
"You really have changed Naruto," Sasuke thought.
Meanwhile, Sakura jumped at Hinata, delivering her signature Tsunade-style Falcon Punch at the Hyūga. Hinata was quick to react.
"PROTECTIVE EIGHT TRIGRAMS: SIXTY FOUR PALMS…!"
Using her Protective Eight Trigrams, Hinata was able to deflect Sakura's attack. Sakura fell backwards, but quickly landed on her feet and charged again. Hinata, using her gentle fist, blocked the attack, but found that even with her defense, the attack was weaker than it should have been and Sakura smirked upon seeing her reaction.
"Of course," Hinata thought.
"Now you're getting it," Sakura thought.
Sasuke then pulled away from Naruto and enhanced his sword with lightning-style chakra. Seeing this, Naruto responded by enhancing his sword with wind-style chakra. The two then charged at one another and clung their swords over and over. They were now locked in a sword dual.
"You're good with a sword Naruto," Sasuke commented as they locked swords. "But you'll need more than just sword skills to defeat me."
"Funny, Sasuke," Naruto commented back. "I was going to say the same thing about you…!"
Naruto and Sasuke separated once more.
Sakura and Hinata meanwhile traded blows, Sakura using a strong fist style and Hinata using the gentle fist style. Sakura tried to punch Hinata, but Hinata deflected her attack and struck back with a strick to the chest. Fortunately, Sakura was able to evade the attack back away from Hinata.
"Well, that was close," Sakura admitted. "I almost forgot that you Hyūga specialize in doing internal damage. One strike could have killed me."
"You should talk," Hinata told her. "One blow could have turned me to mush."
At the same time, their Digimon were engaged in their own battle.
"METAL CANNON…!"
Dorumon fired his Metal Cannon attack at Aegiomon, but Aegiomon was quick to counter.
"IRON THRUST…!"
Aegiomon jumped and used a backwards kick with his prided goat legs on Dorumon's attack, cancling it out.
"TEARING SHOT…!"
Lunamon used her Tearing Shot attak on Lalamon.
"SEED BLAST…!"
Lalamon shot hard nuts from her mouth with surprising accuracy at Lunamon's Tearing Shot, deflecting it.
Aegiomon and Lalamon then charged at Dorumon and Lunamon and vice versa
"STUN BEAT BLOW…!"
"LALA SPIRAL…!"
Aegiomon beat up Dorumon while releasing electricity from his arms. The numbed him and dulled his movements. Lalamon meanwhile charged into Lunamon by spinning her leaf with all her might. This caused Lunamon to be cut up a bit, but nothing serious, for some reason. Aegiomon and Lalamon then rejoined their partners as Sakura took out a Green Card.
"Time to take this to the next level," Sakura commented before she shashed the card through her D-Power.
"DIGIMODIFY…! DIGIVOLUTION ACTIVATE…!"
"DIGIVOLUTION…!"
Lalamon then began to Digivolve.
"Lalamon Digivolve to… Sunflowmon," Lalamon had Digivolved into what appeared to be a creature that stood about three meters (eleven feet) tall with a green body, a pair of stem like hands, a pair of one toed feet, a reptile-like tail, a sunflower for a head, and two large leaf-like wings on her back. She also had a red arrow tip marking on her forehead and a tooth sticking out of her mouth. She was now Sunflowmon.
Hinata checked her D-Power, "Sunflowmon, plant Digimon, chapion level, special attack, Sunshine Beam."
Realizing that both Sasuke and Sakura had champion level Digimon, Naruto and Hinata recognized that their Digimon had to Digivolve as well.
"Hinata," Naruto called.
"Right," Hinata replied.
Naruto and Hinata took out their D-Powers and shashed a green card through them.
"DIGIMODIFY…! DIGIVOLUTION ACTIVATE…!"
"DIGIVOLUTION…!"
Dorumon and Lunamon both began to Digivolve.
"Dorumon Digivolve to… Dorugamon…!"
"Lunamon Digivolve to… Lekismon…!"
Dorumon and Lunamon had Digivolved into Dorugamon and Lekismon once more and faced their opponents. Sasuke and Sakura then checked their D-Powers.
"Dorugamon, beast dragon Digimon, champion level, special attack, Power Metal," Sasuke read on his D-Power.
"Lekismon, beast man Digimon, champion level, special attack, Moon Night Kick," Sakura read on her D-Power.
At the village, Meramon had finally arrived and was face to face with Biyomon.
"Watch out," Sora called out to her partner. "Biyomon, he's right behind you…!"
Biyomon faced Meramon. "Go away Meramon, leave us alone…! We're not bothering you…!"
But Biyomon's words fell on deaf ears as Meramon swatted her away. Luckily, Sora was able to catch her before she hit the bottom of the dried lake.
"Are you okay," Sora asked, worried about her partner.
"Sure," Biyomon replied. "I hope I never do that again. It wasn't very fun."
Sora simply giggled, happy that Biyomon was alright.
"Thank you for coming to rescue me," Biyomon thanked as Sora picked her up.
"Don't mention it," said Sora. "That's what a friend is for."
"You can say that again," Biyomon agreed. "My friend."
Sadly their happy moment was short-lived as Meramon prepared to attack.
Realizing this, Biyomon told Sora, "We're still in great danger, Sora! You stay here. It's my turn to rescue you now!"
Biyomon then flew out of Sora's arms and face off against Meramon once more. Only this time, she was doing it from the air.
"You think you're really hot stuff," Biyomon taunted. "Well you're in big trouble now."
"SPIRAL TWISTER…!"
Biyomon fired her spiral twister at Meramon. The impact, while not doing much damage, still hurt the fiery Digimon.
At the volcano, Naruto, Hinata, and their partners were still going toe to toe with Sasuke, Sakura, and their partners. It was Naruto vs. Sasuke, Hinata vs. Sakura, Dorugamon vs. Aegiomon, and Lekismon vs. Sunflowmon.
"MOON NIGHT BOMB…!"
Lekismon used her Moon Night Bomb attack on Sunflowmon, but Sunflowmon was quick to respond.
"SUNSHINE BEAM…!"
Sunflowmon fired a beam of sunlight from her petals at the Moon Night Bomb, destroying it in the process.
"I don't understand," said Lekismon. "Why would a Data type Digimon like you be working on the side of evil?"
"That's none of your concern," Sunflowmon replied.
"POWER METAL…!"
Dorugamon fired his Power Metal attack at Aegiomon, but he was able to dodge it easily
"STUN BEAT BLOW…!"
Aegiomon then used his Stun Beat Blow on Dorugamon, knocking him to the ground.
"Don't you even realize that you probably made other Digimon suffer," Dorugamon questioned Aegiomon.
"Don't tell me what I should realize," Aegiomon answered. "Our partners are doing this all for a reason, one that you don't need to know!"
Meanwhile, Naruto and Sasuke prepared some of their trademark attacks. Sasuke used Chidori, but surprisingly, using one on each hand, while Naruto used a Rasengan sphere on each hand. The two then charged at one another, thrusting their hands at each other.
"CHIDORI BARRAGE…!"
"RASENGAN BARRAGE…!"
The two attacks collided. As the two struggled to push the other back, Naruto noticed something about Sasuke. What he saw was that his light eye had no light in it.
"Sasuke, your right eye is blind," Naruto gasped.
"Very perceptive Naruto," Sasuke commented.
The two then pushed each other away, their Chidori and Rasengan variants canceled out as a result. Naruto then sensed that Sora an Biyomon were battling Meramon and wanted to shout out to tell her to use her Digivice. Sadly though, he realized that he was too far away so Sora wouldn't hear him, but he tried it anyway.
"SORA, USE YOUR DIGIVICE," Naruto shouted at the top of his lungs, hoping that his call would reach Sora in some way.
At the lake, Biyomon continued to unleash several more blasts of her Spiral Twister at Meramon, but the fiery Digimon quickly got used to it.
"Is that the best you have to offer, weakling," Meramon taunted.
"We've got to help her out," said Tai as Agumon, Tentomon, Patamon, and Gabumon emerged from the ship. "He's too big to handle!"
"Yeah," Izzy agreed.
"FIREBALL…!"
Meramon flared up his arms and threw a fireball at Biyomon, knocking her out of the air.
"Oh, no," Sora gasped. "She's hit…! Biyomon…"
The others were depressed.
"Come on, everyone, we can beat that monster," said Tai.
"What we need is teamwork," said Izzy.
"I'm ready," said Meramon. "Give me your best shot!"
"PEPPER BREATH…!"
"SUPER SHOCKER…!"
"BLUE BLASTER…!"
"BOOM BUBBLE…!"
Agumon, Tentomon, Gabumon, and Patamon all unleashed their trademark attacks at Meramon. But much to their surprise, it only made him bigger.
"Sora," Biyomon said while still down. "We're all in trouble now. Meramon cannot be allowed to win. My friends need my help now."
Suddenly, Sora somehow heard Naruto calling out to her, telling her to use her Digivice just as Meramon made his way down into the lake. This was the third time she heard either Naruto or Hinata telling someone in the group to use a Digivice. While still not sure what that was, she remembered the device she and others received and recalled how the ones that Tai and Matt had both glowed just before either Agumon or Gabumon Digivolved into Greymon and Garurumon earlier respectively. Acting on instinct, she took the device she had and pointed it at the downed Biyomon. As that was done, the device began to glow and Biyomon began to Digivolve.
"Biyomon Digivolve to… Birdramon," Biyomon had Digivolved into a massive five meter (sixteen foot) tall bird with feathers made out of orange flames and a beak that looked somewhat like duck's but with teeth jutting out of it. She also had two long crest feathers, one on either side of her head, and a long tail that was almost the length of the rest of her body. She was now Birdramon.
Birdramon then took to the air once more and pushed Meramon out of the lake and back to his original position. After doing that, Birdramon flew around Meramon.
"What's wrong, Birdramon afraid of me," Meramon taunted. "Let's fight…!"
"MAGMA BLAST…!"
Meramon emitted magma rocks that rained upon Birdramon. Birdramon did her best to avoid them, but also tried to keep them from hitting the others. She then flew in for a close range attack.
"MAGMA BLAST…!"
Meramon then used his Magma Blast again, but this time he threw a large explosive rock at Birdramon at close range.
"Birdramon, move away," Sora called out to her partner.
Realizing that a close range attack was no good, Birdramon flew higher and prepared to counter attack.
"MAGMA BLAST…!"
Meramon fired his Magma Blast once more, but this time Birdramon was able to dodge it.
"My turn," Birdramon prepared to attack.
"METEOR WING…!"
Birdramon flapped her wings and rained down fireballs from the air at Meramon. The fiery Digimon had no time to react as the fireballs hit his torso, causing him to shrink back to his normal size. The Black Gear then burst out of his body and flew into the air before disintegrating into dust.
"It was a Black Gear," Izzy gasped. "That's what made him crazy!"
"I suppose if you had a big Black Gear stuck inside of you, you'd act a little crazy too," Matt commented. "The poor guy."
"Yay, Biyomon did it," T.K. cheered.
On the Mountain, Naruto and Sasuke sensed that the Black Gear was destroyed.
"Well what do you know," said Sasuke before calling out, "Sakura, Aegiomon, Sunflowmon, time to retreat…!"
Sasuke, Sakura, Aegiomon, and Sunflowmon called off the attack. They then stood above Naruto, Hinata, Dorugamon, and Lekismon. Apart from Aegiomon, all the champion Digimon reverted back to their rookie forms.
"Consider this fight a draw," Sasuke told them. "But mark my words, next time you won't be so lucky."
Sasuke, Sakura, Aegiomon and Lalamon then disappeared, leaving Naruto, Hinata, Dorumon, and Lunamon the task of getting back to the others.
"Did you sense that Hinata," Naruto asked.
"Yeah, I did," Hinata answered.
"What's going on," Dorumon questioned.
"Yeah, why did they call off their attack," Lunamon added.
"Let's worry about that later," Naruto told the Digimon. "For now, let's get back to the others."
The four then made their way back to Yokomon Village.
At the village, Birdramon reverted back to Biyomon and flew back to Sora.
"Wow, every time I'm in danger, Biyomon comes to my rescue," Sora couldn't help but say in amazement. "That's what I call a friend."
"Are you alright," Biyomon asked as she flew to Sora. "Oh Sora!"
"Oh, Biyomon, I was so worried about you," Sora hugged Biyomon. "You're great. I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of you."
"I wasn't the least bit afraid," said Biyomon. "All I could think about was saving you, because—well, you know."
Moments later, the flames on the mountain, in the well, and in the fountain disappeared and the water began to flow once more.
At Gennai's house, Gennai was talking to Victor through holograms about what he discovered at Folder and what Dark Gennai told him.
"Do you believe what Dark Gennai said, about what happened with the Royal Knights and the Olympus XII," Victor asked. "It just doesn't feel right. But when I saw that painting, I couldn't believe my eyes. And when I took a closer look at it, I noticed the three great angels as well. This could mean that all three groups were obliterated and that the Digimon those kids have could be reincarnations of each member of the group."
"My darker version works blindly for his king," Gennai pointed out. "For all we know, he was lying through his teeth and probably planted the evidence."
"Nevertheless my friend, I think it would be wise if I continued my investigation," Victor pointed out. "If those three groups are gone, we could be vulnerable to an attack from the Seven Great Demon Lords if they ever break out of their prisons."
"I agree," said Gennai.
Victor then signed off.
Later that evening, Naruto and Hinata rejoined the Digidestined group at the Yokomon Village. The lake was once again full and the fountain was pouring out water like it did before the attack even began. However, the Yokomon were curious as to why Meramon had attacked them earlier.
"Meramon, why did you attack our village," asked one of the Yokomon.
"I couldn't stop myself," Meramon explained.
"That must have been awful for you," said another Yokomon. "If you couldn't control yourself, who was controlling you?"
"The last thing I remember was being hit by that gear," Meramon explained. "Two humans and two Digimon appeared up there and threw it into my torso. Next thing I knew, I ended up here."
"Well, we're just happy to see that you're back to normal," said one of the Yokomon. "I hope nothing like this ever happens again. You're needed to protect Mount Miharashi and I hope whoever those people were, they'll be caught soon."
"Goodbye Meramon," said one of the Yokomon as Meramon made his way back to Mount Miharashi. "May you always stay well."
"Goodbye," said another Yokomon. "And please, try not to burn down our village anymore, okay?"
With Meramon gone, Biyomon turned to Sora with a smiling face and said, "Hey, I just remembered you never got that dinner we promised you. You must be starving."
"My tummy's ready for some action," T.K. admitted.
Everyone was eager to get some food in their stomach, but Naruto and Hinata already knew what the Yokomon had instore for them. Moments later, they were all given bowls of nothing but seeds, much to the Digidestined's confusion.
"What is this stuff," Tai questioned.
"Be polite and just eat it," said Mimi. "A gracious guest never insults his host's cooking."
"I can't tell if it's even been cooked," said Tai.
"Just be thankful that you're not eating bugs," said Naruto, remembering his experience at Mount Myoboku.
"Don't even get me started," Tai sighed.
"By the way, where were you guys," Matt questioned.
"Yeah, we had to face a mad Meramon all by ourselves," Joe complained.
"We had a close encounter with the people who made him mad," Hinata told them.
"Really, what did they look like," said Mimi.
"And more importantly, why did they imbed that Black Gear into Meramon," Izzy asked.
"I get the feeling that we'll find out sooner or later," Naruto told them.
"And they have partner Digimon," Dorumon told them while eating the seeds.
"So there are other kids with Digimon here besides us," T.K. asked. "But why are they acting against us?"
"Like Naruto said, we'll find out sooner or later," Lunamon answered as she munched down some of the seeds.
While some of the Digidestined eat the seeds, others like Joe and Sora refused to do so, saying that they weren't hungry. Naruto and Hinata on the other hand were more than eager to eat it, having gotten used to it since their last visit.
"I never got to ask you guys," said Naruto. "What kind of seeds are in this?"
"Well it's mostly wheat grain," said one of the Yokomon. "But we also have millet and other kinds of seeds."
"Well then, can I ask you a favor," said Naruto.
The Yokomon agreed and listened to Naruto's request.
At Infinity Mountain, Sasuke and Sakura gave Devimon their report. The devil Digimon didn't look too pleased by what he heard.
"So let me get this straight," he growled. "Mermamon failed to destroy the Digidestined and you just retreated?"
"We underestimated them and overestimated ourselves," Sasuke told Devimon. "But we won't make that mistake again."
"I hope not, Sasuke," Devimon told him. "The Dark Masters are counting on us to destroy the Digidestined and their guardians before they can unlock their powers."
"Then perhaps we should use and ultimate level Digimon," Aegiomon suggested.
"Are you speaking of Andromon," Devimon questioned.
"I am sir," Aegiomon confirmed. "However, there is one other ultimate Digimon on the island we could also use."
On Server, Salamon continued to walk about, not knowing where her journey would take her. Following the path Etemon took, though in the other direction, she eventually found herself in a strange creepy forest.
"What is this place," said Salamon. "It's so creepy."
Suddenly a voice sprang out. "Are you lost little one?"
Looking up Salamon saw a dark silhouette in front her. Bats flew by her as the silhouette got closer, revealing himself to be Myotismon.
Sometime later at the Yokomon village, some of the Yokomon brought up several large bags of wheat grain at Naruto's request. Naruto and Hinata then got to work and grinded the wheat into flour before putting it back into the bags. They then sealed the bags into one of their scrolls, but what could they be up to?
In his cave, Makuramon was looking at what appeared to be a ruined blue scarf. He seemed to have sentimental feelings about it.
"Antylamon," he muttered to himself.
At his home, Victor was doing more research on the mural and saw three other Digimon involved in the battle. "Wait a minute. Are those the three Great Angels?"
In the real world, a young boy named Willis in America was taking care of twin Digimon named Gummymon and Kokomon. One of them, Kokomon, had been injured earlier that day and Willis was putting some bandages on its injury. It was evening where they lived while it was morning in Japan where Tai and the others lived and the sun was setting.
"You have to give it time to heal, okay," said Willis to Kokomon.
"Okay," said Kokomon.
"I told you that that was a bad idea," said Gummymon.
"How was I supposed to know," Kokomon questioned.
"Okay, let's just get to sleep," said Willis as he finished bandaging up Kokomon's injury.
"But isn't it a little early for that Willis," Gummymon asked.
"I know, I know," said Willis.
And that was chapter 10. As you can see, Sasuke's partner is Aegiomon and Sakura's partner is Lalamon. Now, I know what you're thinking: "Aegiomon as Sasuke's partner? How the hell does that work? It should have been one of the Demon Lords." I'll admit that having Sasuke paired with one of the Seven Demon Lords was a good idea especially considering everything he's done at this point in the Naruto Manga. However, Sasuke and Sakura have been in the Digital World longer than Naruto and Hinata and time goes by faster in the Digital World than it does in the Real World and as you've probably noticed, like Naruto and Hinata, Sasuke and Sakura haven't aged. I'll go over in detail as to how Sasuke got Aegiomon in a later chapter.
Well, I've introduced Willis and his twin Digimon partners, Gummymon and Kokomon. At the sametime, it would seem that the Three Great Angels were involved in the battle between Royal Knights and the Olympos XII. Also, Makuramon seems to be morning one of his fellow Devas, Antylomon. What could be going? Well that's for later.
Now for the next chapter, the group will be facing Andromon, and after that, they'll face Monzaemon.
PS: I'll be getting back to my passion project and work on a sequel to The Horyus known as Horyus: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where the team of Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Kinomoto, Inuyasha, Spiro, Aang, and Sora meet up with many famous Marvel characters. Don't worry though, I'll still be working on this project.
