Haya!
I just wanted to mention that if you are not interested in the solving of the case, then don't read this chapter. Nothing too exciting here to be honest.
Otherwise, have fun reading!
Suspects, that was what was most important after Conan's health. The suspects were among three. Amouro Touro, Azusa Enomoto, and Arata Fujimoto. Of course, the usual employees were excluded and everyone knew it wasn't them. The only person who could be the culprit was Arata Fujimoto with no exception. Meguri kebu, Takagi keiji, Amouro, and Heiji were discussing this matter.
"How long ago was he hired here, Amouro-san?" Asked Takagi.
"About a month ago. He was in and out, he said he was busy, which kept him from coming to work consistently."
"Was this his part-time job?"
"Seems like so."
"Have ya been able to trace him down?" interfered Heiji.
"We gathered the documents from the owner, but sadly it seems that he has been murdered," answered Meguri.
"Does that mean he was threatened?" asked Heiji again.
"Most likely, a morse code was left behind."
"Any trace?" asked Heiji with slight hope.
"Unfortunately, no."
"Tsk!"
Ran opened and headed downstairs to where she saw policemen gathered around Poirot Cafe to her surprised.
"What's happening here?" she asked as Meguri saw her from inside the cafe and came out.
"I'm sorry for what had happened to Conan-kun Ran," said Meguri.
"What do you mean?" asked Ran, not knowing what he meant.
"K-kebu! I need to talk with ya!" explained Heiji, seeing the situation.
"What's wrong Hattori?"
"Don't tell Ran, please. She doesn't know."
"She doesn't know?"
"No."
"As she is one of his guardians along with Mouri, I will need to inform her."
Heiji frowned as he heard the inspector explain the situation to Ran.
"Heiji, why didn't you tell me?"
"Sorry Ran. Ku-Conan didn't want ya to worry."
"I'm going to see him now. Oh you silly Conan," said Ran as she quickly rushed to the hospital.
Heiji sighed, Conan wouldn't want Ran to worry over him again. He has caused her enough trouble already.
"Sorry Hattori, she needs to know," apologised Meguri.
"I get it."
"So what was said in the code?" asked Amouro.
"It mentioned the details of how he was threatened through his family. Also, the person with who he was in contact with. We are currently on the lookout for him."
"They seem cautious enough to kill Fujimoto to erase any evidence,' said AMouro.
"Yes, it was clear they searched the place too," added Takagi.
"With this many leads we should be able to find the one behind everything soon," said Heiji.
"Let's all hope so," said Meguri.
Ran canceled her day out with Sonoko and headed straight to the hospital. It was only a day. Only a day that she left Conan with Heiji and he is in the hospital again. With holidays just starting, she hoped that she could enjoy her time with Conan and see him smile more. She knew something was wrong. He wasn't acting himself and she knew it. She blamed herself, but would that help now?
She signed in and rushed to the room where Conan stayed. Entering the room, she saw him with the oxygen mask and a feeding tube. a nurse came in and asked if she noticed anything unusual lately. Ran told what she knew and the nurse nodded and left.
"Oh Conan-kun. I'm so sorry. I should have took you to the hospital on that day."
Conan opened his eyes slowly. He saw Ran worried, which he did not like.
"Ran-neechan." He said with a low voice as he tried to sit up.
"Conan-kun, you need to rest."
"Gomene, Ran-neechan."
"Why are you apologising for?"
"Sorry I made you worry."
"Don't worry Conan-kun. You will get better soon."
"Yeah. Where's Heiji-neechan?"
"He is investigating with Meguri kebu."
"When can I leave?"
"The doctor said in a week."
"I'm hungry Ran-neechan. Can I eat something?"
"I will ask the doctor if you can."
Ran left the room and Conan wondered how long before he would catch the culprit. There was never a case where it took Conan that long to solve it. He was really disappointed with himself.
Returning home felt slightly strange to Conan now. Not only were there police officers investing the crime scene, but now he had two police guards guarding him most of the time. Conan was a well-known target in the police station by now, Meguri ordered him to be on sight 24/7. Conan did not like this, but it made him feel a little safe.
Ran banned any food from outside and only cooked meals at home. Being protective wasn't enough for her, she went over-protective with her brother like figure. She will not let this happen again.
Conan decided that now was the right time to visit Haibara, his curiosity was bugging too much. And of course, he was escorted by the two policemen. as they waited outside, Conan entered Agasa's home. Agasa was glad to see Conan safe and sound after two weeks of him staying locked up away at home by Ran.
"How are you doing Shinichi."
"I feel a lot better, though sudden pain strokes come now and then."
"Ai-kun is in the lab downstairs, she is waiting for you."
"Ok thank you."
"You look better."
"Thanks. How have the tests been going?"
"I found something very important."
"Is it, do to with them?"
Haibara nodded.
"If they are targeting me, then they want me alive. They could have killed me any time. This must be different."
"Yes, I thought the same. This drug seems newly developed, slightly different from the ones I've been working on. From the look of it, it was first made just over four months ago."
"Just around the time, I met him."
"Most likely a low-key member of the organization who was able to get his hands on the drug."
"Yes, this seems like the best explanation. But we still need to stay on the lookout. Haibara, please don't leave Agasa's house, ok?"
"Alright, though that doesn't apply to you even if you are the target, right?"
"Don't tease me. I have to solve the case."
"Hai hai."
Just as Conan left, Agasa walked in.
"Aren't you going to tell him the possibility of the drug?"
"It's unlikely to happen any time soon or at all. It has a different effect on his body, he should be fine."
"But Ai-kun-"
"Don't worry, I don't plan on hiding it. I will tell him soon."
I'm going to head to the police station now. I need to know the details of the case, plus, where did Hattori go to?
After calling Hattori and finding he is still in the hotel he stayed at before, they decided to walk together for a bit (not mentioning the two police officers with them.)
"Kudo, I'm sorry for letting Ran know."
"No, I understand it was unavoidable."
"So, how have you been feeling?"
"Better, thanks."
"How has been the investigation going?"
"We are getting somewhere, the police are looking back into every trace of Arata Fujimoto. The culprit just seems to be playing around with us."
"He might be connected to them."
"Nani?!"
After explaining everything, Heiji now understood what he meant and now had a bigger picture of the case.
"This explains why looked like you were about to die back then, you looked just like you had the Ahotoxin, even worst."
"It's Apotoxin."
"Same thing, made your life worst either way."
"What are you going to do now?" Heiji asked.
"I will try and gain information somehow. They are keeping things sealed from me."
"Same here, my dad's responsible for that."
"Your dad, how?"
"I dunno, ever since you were first kidnapped, he never let me investigate or anything. Pretty strange right?"
"Hmmm yes."
"What do you think?"
"What if...?"
Conan-
Should I tell him? This is the first time he is banned from investigating a case, and this one is somehow involved with the organisation, if my assumptions are correct.
"The reason might be that it's connected to the organisation."
"So you think my dad knows about them, hmmm possibly."
"Aren't you surprised?"
"What is there to be surprised of anymore. Is it not enough that a person can shrink."
"Agreed."
My longest chapter yet!
It felt a bit strange to leave it on a normal note, no cliffhangers. Cliffhangers are just too good! ;D
This one was slightly boring since it's about solving the case, but please don't leave just yet!
(If you do find it too boring, then check out my other story. It's a lot more interesting in my opinion.)
Until next chapter! Ja-ne.
