Chapter 13:

Chandler:

Confession time: these two were on my last nerve!

I regret every instance where I made someone the third wheel. I don't even think we got any work done for the first thirty minutes we were at the Hummel's because they started making out as soon as Blaine got here.

Kurt and I had been hanging out and having a lovely chat about our favorite designers when Blaine got there and immediately sat in Kurt's lap. We were all talking for a minute and then Kurt said something about how cute Blaine was while playing with his hair and then they were kissing. They had been kissing for a really long time. Kurt had one hand cupping Blaine's neck and the other was rubbing his thigh while Blaine was sliding his palms up and down Kurt's chest and shoulders. How the hell were they breathing right now? I cleared my throat to remind them that, yes, there was another person in the room. The two started and broke apart sheepishly, Blaine rubbing his neck and Kurt smoothing his shirt down.

"So, did you guys get your section written?" I asked, ignoring the fact that they had been practically devouring each other's mouths. Blaine coughed and stood quickly as I pretended not to see his obvious erection.

"Yeah, um, it's on my laptop let me just..." He hobbled a little into the kitchen where he had left his bag. I smirked at my red-faced friend who was also trying to conceal a boner. He tugged on his pants and shirt and swiped at his swollen lips.

"So, I see things are going well?" He smiled at me and tried to fix his hair.

"They really are. We have our first date tonight." He bit his lip. "I'm really sorry, Chandler. I kind of forgot you were in the room for a second..." I waved his apology away.

"It's fine, Kurt. I'm just happy that you are happy. You deserve it." As he hugged me I said, "Plus, I told you that you had a thing for him, remember?" He swatted playfully at me and laughed.

"Yeah, yeah. How are things with you and Keith?"

"Really good." I smiled. "He's really sweet and fun, even if he does wear Crocs at home." Kurt gasped and acted like he was clutching invisible pearls.

"No! I thought you took this boy shopping?" I nodded solemnly, trying not to break into giggles at his reaction.

"I tried, but he wouldn't throw them away! He says they are too comfortable." I rolled my eyes as Kurt clutched both sides of his face.

"It's just awful..."

"What's awful?" Blaine said as he entered the room after being gone longer than I than I thought he needed to be to just collect his laptop.

"Chandler's boyfriend wears Crocs! Isn't that terrible?" Blaine raised a questioning eyebrow at me to which I nodded with pursed lips.

"I have some too." Blaine replied with a straight face. Kurt gasped even more dramatically and collapsed on the couch. I fanned him just as dramatically while trying not to laugh.

"That's it! We are over! I can't be with someone who wears those... styrofoam things!"

"Well, I was joking, but good to know where we stand." We all laughed and started getting our papers ready. I eyed both of them giving each other flirty little glances and smiling like complete idiots.

"As soon as you two are done having eye sex, you can put on your glasses. Don't think I didn't see you guys trying to hide them last time." They both blushed and went to retrieve their glasses. We worked diligently until lunch, but we couldn't have made any more progress because our brains were fried at that point. Kurt went to go make us all sandwiches, so I was left alone with Blaine.

"You guys are pretty cute." I said as he looked up from his phone. He smiled.

"Thanks. He's the first guy I've really dated, so I'm trying to treat him how he deserves."

"He does deserve it. Kurt's been a great friend to me. When we broke up, he was still nice to me and even defended me against Karofsky. He definitely deserves the best." Blaine watched me pack up my things as he pulled his beanie off and ruffled his hair.

"I was there that day. I saw him. He seems like he cares about everyone. Even Karofsky for some stupid reason." I nodded. That definitely tracked with what I knew to be true about my kind-hearted best friend.

"Kurt knows what it's like to be at the bottom of the food chain. He always has used his popularity to help losers like me." I looked into Blaine's eyes. "Please, don't hurt him. He's been through a lot."

"I would never hurt him on purpose. I'm kind of an idiot, so I can't promise I won't do something dumb, but I will definitely try." We both smiled at each other when Kurt came bustling in with a tray of sandwiches, salads, and iced tea.

"Hope you guys are hungry!"

...

Sam:

My little brother and sister shrieked as I went for my guitar.

"Oh no! Mom! Sam's trying to play again!"

"Sam! You know what the doctor said! You need to wait!" My mom yelled from where she was washing dishes in the kitchen. I stuck my tongue out at my siblings as they giggled and ran away. I loved them, but they could be such brats.

With my arm and leg in a cast, getting around had been pretty difficult, but I had gotten some time out of school, which was pretty cool. I tried to think of something else to do until Kurt and Blaine got to my house. I was surprised that they asked to come see me. A bunch of the New Directions and my friends from the football team already had come, but my mom and dad were pretty strict about it, wanting me to have lots of rest so I could recover. Kurt had sent flowers and a handwritten apology and Blaine had sent some snacks and a dirty magazine as an apology. (I'm glad he sent one with girls in it. I mean, I have nothing against him being gay, but naked dudes don't really do anything for me.) I have a feeling my mom probably told them to stay away for awhile. She was pretty angry that they had hurt me at first, but Mr. Hummel and Ms. Anderson had come over and talked her down I guess. I knew that Kurt and Blaine had also been working to pay off my medical bills, so that helped her calm down too. Mercedes had kept me in the loop about what was going on and she said they would have a surprise when they got here. I kind of hoped it was something to eat because my mom was on a health food kick.

I heard the doorbell ring and my mom answered it, sure she was giving them her stern look. I'm just glad she was doing it to someone besides me at this point.

"Hey there, Muhammad Ali! How's it going?" Blaine slapped five with me as he entered my room. Kurt lightly swatted his chest and bent over my bed to give me a hug.

"Hey, Sam. How are you feeling? Did you get my flowers?" I nodded and grinned widely.

"Hey guys! Yes I did. Thanks so much. Blaine, dude, thanks for the magazine. It helped a whole lot, if you know what I mean." He laughed nervously as Kurt's head swiveled between us.

"Did you send him a Vogue or something? Those always make me feel better when I'm under the weather."

"No, he sent me a-"

"Anyway," Blaine interrupted, "when are you coming back to school? The football team is shit with the both of us out." I nodded. Mercedes has told me about Blaine's ankle.

"I heard we lost last night. Karofsky got benched too?" Blaine and Kurt both tensed and it was then I noticed them holding hands. Wow, they were definitely taking this whole "get along or else" thing seriously.

"He did. He's been a real asshole." Kurt patted his arm with his free hand and Blaine relaxed somewhat.

"When do you get to come back, Sam? Glee needs you too. We are practicing hard for sectionals next week, but we need all the help we can get. Blaine's done a wonderful job filling in, of course." They smiled at each other. Wow, they were getting along really well!

"The doctor said that I can come back in another week, so maybe the week after sectionals? It will be a bit hard to get around, but I'm kind of ready to get out of the house. I've missed you guys."

"We missed you too, Sam. We should go do something once you're up and about! Maybe you, Mercedes, Blaine, and I can go out? Something easy, like a movie?"

"Really? Sure! Guys, I gotta say, you two have really come a long way. I'm glad you could put your differences behind you and be friends." They looked at each other a little oddly and Blaine started chuckling. Kurt sat on the bed next to me and was biting his lip.

"Uh, Sam... What has Mercedes told you about me and Blaine?" I shrugged.

"She said you guys were getting along and working hard. She also said you had a surprise for me." Blaine was chuckling and plucking the strings on my guitar while Kurt was doing a terrible job of not laughing.

"What? What's going on?"

"Well, Blaine and I are dating now. Like, as a couple. Boyfriends." He linked fingers with Blaine and the football player smiled down at him sweetly. Wow, I definitely was out of touch.

"Oh... oh! Yeah, that's cool! Good for you guys, gay pride! Woohoo!" Kurt raised his eyebrows and Blaine snorted. He came and sat on the bed near my feet and worried the edge of my blanket.

"We're sorry for you getting hurt, Sam. I hope you know we really do feel bad." Blaine said. Kurt nodded his head in agreement.

"How we acted before was childish and stupid. We never thought anyone else would get hurt, but we were foolish. I hope you accept our apology." Kurt smiled sadly at me.

"I'm not gonna lie, I was kind of pissed at you guys at first, but I get it. I'm just glad you guys are friend. Well, boyfriends. Boys who are friends. Romantically and normally. That's totally fine. You're like friends with benefits. No, that's not... uh..." Kurt had put his face in his hands and Blaine patted my foot.

"Dude, I'm gonna stop you right there. Want to play a couple of rounds?" He motioned to my PlayStation.

"Oh my gosh, yes! Kurt, you in?" He sighed, resigned and took a controller.

"What obnoxiously cliche game are we destroying our brain cells with?"

"How about I kick your asses at Call of Duty?" I asked. They both got a competitive gleam in their eyes as Blaine got the game ready.

"Yeah, the only one touching Kurt's ass will be me."

"Blaine! Sam, I'm sorry. He's slightly possessive." Kurt rolled his eyes as his cheeks pinked.

"Like you aren't." Blaine muttered, dodging Kurt when he swatted at him again.

"It's okay guys. Let's do this!"

We played for about an hour with Kurt doing surprisingly well (but Blaine helped him a lot. I did the same thing with Mercedes when we went to mini golf. I think he was purposely being bad so Blaine would help him though.) Kurt stretched and his shirt rode up a little. Blaine zeroed in on the exposed skin pretty fast and I just held back a laugh. Dude had it bad.

"Well Sam, we need to get going since we have our first date tonight. We will see you next week though, okay?" They stood and joined hands immediately. I smiled, glad that they seemed happier than I had seen them in a long time.

"Okay! Bye guys, thanks for the visit." Blaine saluted me and they left. My siblings ran in and hid behind my bed, screaming the whole way.

"What? Why are you screaming?"

"Mom's making healthy food again!" I wrinkled my nose and felt my stomach turn.

"Smoothies or tofu?"

"Both." They whispered solemnly.

"Oh man..." I grabbed my phone and started texting Mercedes goodbye. Pretty sure mom was trying to kill me.

...

Kurt:

After we left Sam's, Blaine dropped me off at home so we could get ready and so I could pick him up "properly" for our date.

"I want to be wooed, Hummel. I expect flowers and the obligatory, 'You look amazing' if you want all up on this."

By the time I had gone home, showered, put on my clothes, fixed my hair, changed my clothes, and then grabbed my keys, it was time to pick Blaine up. Glancing in the hallway mirror, I wondered if I had time to change one more time.

"You look so handsome, sweetie!" I could hear the shutter click of Carole's camera app on her phone. Dad was standing with her in the kitchen doorway, both with cheesy grins on their faces.

"Come on, Dad! Carole! Don't do this to me! I'm just going on a date, not prom." Carole shrieked gleefully and held her hand over her mouth.

"Oh my god, they will look so cute going to prom together! Can you imagine all the pictures we will get?" I groaned. Dad was enjoying my torture a little too much.

"It may not be your first date ever, but we know how important it is to you. You've never been this excited for a date before either, kiddo."

"Okay, if you two are done being ridiculous, I have to go now so I can get flowers before I pick up Blaine."

"Aww! That's so sweet! Burt, you've raised such a gentleman!" Dad squeezed her shoulders and kissed the top of her head.

"Thanks. Now, Kurt, you have a good time and remember our talk." I could feel myself blushing as I remembered him sitting me down for "the talk" the other day. I shuddered and rolled my eyes away.

"I know, Dad. I'm leaving now!" They waved me away and I tried to focus on my date and not my embarrassing parents. Although I would never admit it, it was kind of sweet.

...

I found myself knocking on Blaine's door with a bouquet of daisies hidden behind my back. I heard footsteps and the door swung open to reveal a much more relaxed Ms. Anderson than I had previously encountered. Her curly hair was braided over her shoulder and she was wearing comfortable clothing that was still stylish. She gave me a smile that only grew when she got a peek at the flowers.

"Hey, Kurt. He will be down soon. I think he's changing his clothes again or maybe his underwear. He's always been a nervous sweater."

"I can totally hear you mom! Please stop talking! I'll be down in a second, babe!" She led me to the sofa and patted the cushion beside her.

"Come and talk with me a moment. You look very nice. I actually have that same scarf." I giggled, yes actually giggled, as I smoothed down said scarf. I was slightly nervous.

"Thanks. Found it on sale last Black Friday." She nodded approvingly and eyed the rest of my outfit. I had tried to look nice and go with one of my slightly more toned down looks of grey skinny jeans, a white polka dotted dress shirt, and matching grey waistcoat all tied together with the scarf. I know I looked fantastic in this, although I never thought I would be voluntarily taking Blaine Anderson out on a date in it when I bought it.

"So, where are you boys going tonight?" I licked my lips and twirled the ribbon that bound the daisies in my fingers.

"There's a nice karaoke restaurant just outside of town. My friend Rachel has dragged me to it several times, so I know it's good."

"Hmm, he will love that. You know, I'm really glad you two have worked out your differences. He's more relaxed lately and I'm pretty sure it's due to your influence."

"He's been good for me too. I'm glad we don't hate each other anymore." She looked down at her hands delicately placed in her lap.

"He's not always had the easiest time. Just try to be patient with him. His father wasn't the best example of how to treat a significant other. I guess I wasn't either." I touched her shoulder gently.

"Blaine is a very sweet person. Well, when he wants to be."

"What do you mean? I'll give you a cavity I'm so sweet!" Blaine had snuck in and was leaning against the doorframe smugly, arms crossed in mock offense. His mom jumped up and scurried over to give him a hug.

"Oh, Blainey! You look so cute!" I spun to see a very nicely dressed Blaine. He was wearing dark fitted jeans with a white polo, a red cardigan and a bow tie that had matching red and navy stripes. He had finally listened to me and used a mousse or something to tame his curls gently without smothering them to death with gel. He looked... breathtaking. It definitely wasn't his normal style, but I wholeheartedly approved.

"Uh, Kurt, did you hear me?" Ms. Anderson had apparently asked me something and I had zoned out leering at her son. Wow, not obvious at all Kurt. Blaine was giving me a similar look, but with a smug little grin.

"Um, sorry, what was it you said?" She laughed.

"I just wanted to know what time you might be back?" Blaine groaned.

"I'll be back by curfew, mom." He kissed her cheek quickly and grabbed my hand. "Come on! She will inevitably say something embarrassing again."

"I bought more condoms! They're in the kitchen! Be safe!" He drug a hand down his face.

"Like that." I chuckled and stopped him before we got to the front door. I grabbed his hands and cleared my throat.

"You look amazing." I stated dramatically. Blaine pretended to swoon, but he was blushing too.

"Thank you. You look amazing too." He winked and I felt my cheeks heat up.

"Seriously though, I'm loving the look. It does things for me." He was blushing for sure now. Look at that, I made THE Blaine Anderson blush. With a flourish, I presented the flowers I brought.

"These are for you too." He bit his lip into a heart-stopping smile.

"Kurt! I was just kidding earlier about the flowers. You didn't have to." I drew the flowers back teasingly.

"Well, I guess I'll just keep them for myself..." He snatched them back with a smile.

"Screw you, Hummel. These are mine." He lifted them to his nose as I giggled. "Let me put these up and we can go." He started back into the kitchen, but spun back around, eyes raking up and down my body. "And you look cute, too. Like, dirty cute." He winked again and ducked into the kitchen. I sighed. I could tell this would be a great night.

The ride there was a little awkward at first since this was our first official date, but I turned on some music and soon we were both singing and dancing along. He blushed again when I opened his car door for him and I was pleasantly surprised when he opened the restaurant door for me. We were seated quickly and then left with menus. The slight awkwardness was back as we quietly glanced over our menus. Suddenly, Blaine slapped his menu shut and leaned over the table.

"Okay, is it just me or is there a..." he wiggled his fingers around. "Weirdness?" I let out a breath and nodded.

"Thank you! Yes, I thought it was just me! Why is it weird?"

"Here we go, Diet Coke for you and a regular coke for you." A short woman placed our drinks in front of us. "I'm Kara, by the way, and I'll give you a few minutes to figure out what you would like to eat." The petite woman looked curiously between the two of us. I hoped that she wouldn't give us any problems for the night. We thanked her and after she left, Blaine continued. He folded his straw wrapper up back and forth, not really looking at me.

"Well, I know for me this is my first real date..." he continued to find his wrapper quite interesting as I gaped.

"This is your first date? How? You're so... and you... how?" He chuckled at my incredulous babble and rubbed the back of his neck.

"I thought I made it clear before that I'm not really the dating type. At least until you happened." I couldn't stop the huge smile that spread across my face and I reached across the table to play with his fingers.

"I'm really glad you decided to give this a shot. That you gave me a shot." I shrugged. Blaine curled his fingers around mine, causing me to meet his eyes.

"How about we forget all that and just be us?" I nodded emphatically as the server came to take our order. I noticed her eyeing our joined hands and I subtly slid them away to pick up my menu. If Blaine noticed, he didn't say anything. When she finished, Blaine picked up the tablet from our table.

"Is this one of those things you can order food and play games on?"

"Yeah, you also pick your song you want to sing. They give you a number and when it flashes on the screen, you go up to sing it." He started fiddling with the screen and got a wicked smile on his face. He pushed the tablet over to me.

"I picked mine. You go ahead." I raised an eyebrow.

"Oh really? What did you pick?"

He shook his head and sang, "Not telling!"

"Blaine! How am I supposed to pick something that will impress you, but be slightly better than you if I don't know the bar you're setting?"

"You think you will out-sing me?" He teased. How was he so damn infuriating and sexy at the same time?

"I know I will, I just know how you get when you lose and I want to know just how much I will hurt your feelings." I teased right back.

"Well, Kurt Hummel, prepare to be blown away."

"Is it Katy Perry?"

"Nope."

"Is it Lady Gaga?"

"Nope."

"Is it Beyoncé?"

"Jeff has already pulled a Rachel Berry and told me any and all Beyoncé songs are his." I laughed.

"So you're really not going to tell me?"

"All good relationships are built on surprise karaoke songs, Kurt. You didn't know that?"

"You're ridiculous." I said, biting my lip. I confiscated the tablet and made my careful selection just as our food arrived. I decided to be brave and venture away from Broadway a little bit.

Kara brought our food to us and shot me such a quick little wink, I thought I might have imagined it. Blaine bit into his bacon cheeseburger and I stole one of his fries. He swallowed his bite and wiped his mouth.

"Oh my god, this is so good!" He moaned around his food. I squirmed a little and tried not to think about the sounds of pleasure he was making while I stabbed a bite of grilled chicken and tomato from my salad.

"I know, right? When Rachel brought me here, I thought it was just for the singing, but this chicken and the lemon vinaigrette was to die for!" Blaine crooked an eyebrow at me.

"No way can a salad be that good."

"Try it." I held my fork up a few inches away from his lips which he licked slowly. He leaned forward, his eyes never leaving mine as his mouth closed around the bite. He chewed and I could swear his eyes got a little darker.

"Delicious. I'll never doubt you again." We both stared at each other as everything around us seemed to disappear. It was as if nothing else existed except for Blaine and his warm honey eyes and his soft kissable lips and how it was causing heat to course through me. I felt my mouth going dry when a throat being cleared brought reality crashing back in.

"More drink, sir?" Our server asked in a tone that indicated it may have been the second or third time she asked. I smiled, embarrassed and nodded.

"Thanks." She winked for sure this time and bustled away to tend to her other tables. Blaine had resumed eating and so did I.

"Um, Kurt, I wanted to apologize... my mom loves to embarrass me and she apparently thinks she can say whatever and it would be fine." He rolled his eyes, but I could tell he was a little nervous.

"It's okay." I laughed a little. "My dad and stepmom are the same way. You should have heard them gushing before I left. She was saying how cute we will look when we go to prom together..." I looked up sharply when I realized what I had said, but Blaine was just smiling softly at me.

"You want to go to prom with me?"

"I... yes... I mean, we are on our first date and everything and I don't want to just assume, but I really like you and you can dance alright and I haven't asked you properly... I'm sorry, that was dumb of me to say; you don't have to assume or anything! I-" Blaine cut me off my putting his hand on mine.

"Hey, whoa! Calm down, babe. It's fine. We can talk about it later, but I think it's really sweet that you thought of that." I could tell I was probably as red as a tomato at that point, but I tried to calm down.

"Anyway, you might think you're mom is embarrassing, but she's got nothing on my dad."

"Does your dad manage to bring up your underwear is every damn conversation somehow?" He countered.

"Did you're mom make you sit down for the 'sex talk' when you asked if we could go out tonight? Because my dad did." Blaine laughed and hit the table.

"Oh my god!"

"Yeah. He had pamphlets. About gay sex, Blaine." I shuddered remembering the awkwardness. He did say some really important things. I guess I was pretty lucky to have him for a dad.

"Well, at least your dad cared enough to do that for you. When my dad gave me 'the talk,' he just said to use a condom so I didn't get the girl pregnant." He spat the last few words angrily. I knew he didn't have the best relationship with his dad, but I didn't know it was this bad. I gently took his hand again and held it. He scratched the back of his head and calmed down a little.

"Sorry, not first date talking material I guess."

"Hey, it's okay. You can talk to me about it anytime you want." He smiled weakly and nodded as I heard a buzzing noise. Our tablet was flashing with Blaine's number. He put on his charming smile and shot me a cheesy wink.

"Well, hot stuff, I hear the stage calling my name. Enjoy my performance." He took a last sip of his soda before striding confidently to the stage and adjusting the microphone since the last person was taller than him. To be fair, it wasn't hard to be taller than Blaine. I giggled to myself. I would have to use that one later. Blaine was leaning into the microphone and I noticed he had put on some sunglasses that I hadn't seen him pull out.

"Hello, everyone. Hope you are enjoying your night. Prepare to be dazzled." The music started then, with a familiar beat that I couldn't quite remember until he started to sing.

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard,

And they're like, it's better than yours,

Damn right, it's better than yours,

I can teach you, but I'd have to charge.

I was aware that my mouth had fallen open as I stared at the ridiculous person I called my boyfriend. He was dancing like an idiot and grinding the microphone like he was trying to get it pregnant. I found myself laughing uncontrollably until tears fell down my face.

La la, la la, la

Warm it up.

La la, la la, la

The boys are waiting.

La la, la la, la

Blaine had pulled the microphone out of its stand and was shimmying across the stage, hopping onto a barstool that sat on the stage. He pushed his sunglasses down his nose a little to look me up and down and suddenly, I felt a little warm.

Oh, once you get involved

Everyone will look this way, so

You must maintain your charm

Same time maintain your halo

Just get the perfect blend

Plus what you have within

Then next his eyes'll squint

Then he's picked up your scent

I bit my lip into a smile and Blaine grinned back as he wrapped up his song.

"He's cute." Our server had returned to take our empty plates. She gathered them up and gestured towards the stage. I swallowed nervously, not sure how open-minded she was. This was Ohio, after all.

"First date?" She smiled and balanced the plates on top of each other.

"Yeah, it is." She gave me a knowing smile.

"How about a slice of pie? On the house?"

"Wow, that's so nice! Um, sure. But do you have cheesecake?" She nodded.

"I'll bring it out soon." I breathed a sigh of relief, glad someone's bad attitude didn't ruin our date. Blaine sat down amid hoots of laughter and applause.

"Well, what did you think?" He had put his sunglasses away and was trying to pat his hair back down.

"I think you are a crazy person. Talented, but crazy."

"Ohh, do I detect some jealousy there, Hummel?" I rolled my eyes as my number flashed.

"Please, watch and learn, Anderson." I made a big show of standing and sticking my nose up in the air. "And don't eat all the cheesecake!" I called back over my shoulder. I fixed the microphone stand, mumbling about short people and ignoring the glare I could feel coming from Blaine. As the music began, I watched his face flicker with recognition and he raised an eyebrow. I just gave him a smirk and started my song.

You make me feel like I'm losing my virginity

The first time, every time when you touchin' me,

I make you bloom like the flower that you never seen

Under the sun we are one buzzin' energy

The look on Blaine's face was priceless. I have a feeling I was probably looking as flabbergasted as he was on his turn. I shook my hips to the beat and tried to have fun with it.

You give me that

Hummingbird heartbeat

Spread my wings and make me fly

The taste of your honey is so sweet

When you give me the hummingbird heartbeat

Hummingbird heartbeat

Hummingbird heartbeat

Hummingbird heartbeat

I saw the server bring our cheesecake and give me a thumbs up. Then I turned my attention back to Blaine. He had a huge grin on his face as he blew me a kiss.

You're so exotic, get my whole body fluttering

Constantly craving for a taste of your sticky sweet

Always on the brink of a heart attack

You gave me alive and keep me coming back

I see the sun rise in your eyes, your eyes

We've got a future full of blue skies, blue skies

Even when seasons change

I'm still stay the same

You give me that

Hummingbird heartbeat

I was putting on a show that even Rachel Berry couldn't match. I wondered who I had become these last few minutes, but I just kept singing and enjoying the impressed looks from Blaine. As I wrapped up the song, the applause came and Blaine was whistling and clapping the hardest.

"Damn, Kurt! That was amazing!" I gave a little bow and then slid into the booth.

"Thank you. I figured if you were going to sing Lady Gaga to me, I could serenade you with Katy Perry."

"Well, consider me serenaded. That was hot." He leaned his chin into his palm and winked with a flirty grin. I grinned back and picked up the tablet.

"We should do a duet! Ooh, this is a good one."

"What is it?" He tried to peek over, but I hid it from him.

"Do you trust me?"

"Did you just make an Aladdin reference? Because if you did, the answer is yes, I'll marry you." I rolled my eyes, but couldn't keep the smile off my face.

We shared the cheesecake, but we didn't have to wait long before our number flashed on the screen. I grabbed his arm and pulled him to the stage.

"Come on, Romeo."

As the music began, Blaine leaned over. "Isn't that the one from Waitress?"

"Aha! I knew you listened to Broadway!" He laughed and grabbed the microphone, giving me a sweet smile.

I could find the whole meaning of life in those sad eyes

They've seen things that you never quite say, but I hear

Come out of hiding, I'm right here beside you

And I'll stay there as long as you let me

Because you matter to me

Simple and plain and not much to ask from somebody

You matter to me

I promise you do, you, you matter too

I promise you do, you see?

You matter to me

I can openly admit now that I am kind of in love with Blaine's voice. And to get to see this side of him, with the way he was looking at me? It was magical. This was hands down the best first date ever. I pulled my microphone up and looked into his expressive eyes.

It's addictive the minute you let yourself think

The things that I say just might matter to someone

All of this time I've been keeping my mind on the running away

And for the first time I think I'd consider the stay

Because you matter to me

Simple and plain and not much to ask from somebody

You matter to me

I promise you do, you, you matter too

I promise you do, you see?

You matter to me

We finished the last verse and chorus together and the applause was loud again. We floated off the stage and down to our table where our check was waiting. I snatched it up before Blaine could and noticed a handwritten note at the bottom.

"Aww, Blaine look! 'Have a wonderful time on your date boys! It's been a pleasure to serve you. Signed, Kara!' She drew a little smiley face too! How nice." Blaine took my hand after I left money and a generous tip on the table.

"Next time we come here, we should ask for her." I nodded.

"Sounds perfect."

...

Blaine:

Tonight had been perfect. Kurt was so amazing and we held hands the whole way back to my house. I can't believe that I almost passed on dating him. I couldn't wait to get home and text the guys with like a thousand heart emojis. Okay, so I was a little giddy. I couldn't help it. I was dating the most amazing guy ever.

Calm down, Anderson. Don't be a thirteen year old girl.

Kurt parked in the driveway and we both sat there staring at each other. He leaned in to what I was hoping would be a kiss, so I leaned in as well.

"Um, Blaine. I love holding your hand, but I kind of need it back for like, two seconds." I dropped it and giggled nervously. Did I seriously just giggle?

"Shit, sorry. Right, uh... want to walk me up?" Kurt bit his lip that I was hoping to be biting in a minute.

"Of course. What kind of a gentleman would I be if I didn't make sure you got inside alright? I mean, you could have killer squirrels in your yard." We walked hand in hand to the front door slowly so we could spend a few extra seconds together. I squeezed Kurt's warm hands in mine and looked into his lovely blue eyes.

"I had a great first date with you. Thank you for everything." Kurt grinned widely and squeezed my hands back. He was so cute.

"Thank you for going. Um, Blaine... I feel like since we are already boyfriends I don't have to ask if I get a kiss right?" I answered him with a soft press of lips. It was just as wonderful as the first time, if not better. I cupped his cheek in one hand and wrapped my hand around his waist with the other as I felt his hands slide up my arms to drape over my shoulders. He moved his soft lips (they still tasted like strawberry lip balm) against mine and I bit his bottom lip a little like I had been dying to do all damn night. He moaned into my mouth and I began to thrust my tongue in his mouth when the door swung opened suddenly.

"Oh! Hey Blainey, Kurt! Sorry, didn't know you were out here. I thought it was the delivery boy with my takeout. Looks like the date went well, huh?" I groaned at the sound of my mother's voice coming at the most inconvenient time ever. Kurt has leaped away from me like I had threatened to spill ink on his white pants again.

"Mom! Can you give us a minute?" I raised my eyebrows in an obvious gesture.

"Oops! Sorry boys. Go ahead with what you were doing! Don't mind me. Be safe!" She called the last part before shutting the door. She is where Cooper gets his sick love of torturing me. Kurt was standing off to the side, trying to hold off laughter when I caught sight of his face and we both lost it. Once we got control of ourselves, Kurt gave me a quick hug and kissed my cheek softly before backing away towards his car.

"Bye, Blaine. I'll see you in the morning. I had a wonderful time with you." He wiggled his fingers and slid gracefully into his car. I waited until he was out of sight to let free my very uncool sigh. The delivery guy brought my mom's food, so I paid him and found her curled up on the couch.

"Here's your food, James Bond."

"Thanks, honey." She was trying to suppress a smile as she dug through the bag. I loosened my bow tie and turned towards my room so I could grin like an idiot by myself when she spoke up again.

"Well, are you going to tell me about it, Blainey?" I sighed and dropped down beside her on the couch.

"Can we cool it with the 'Blainey?' I can barely get Cooper to call me my name." I twirled the tie in my fingers.

"I named you with the express interest in calling you Blainey. It's written in the fine print on your birth certificate." She surprised a laugh out of me and seemed pleased. After pulling out her chopsticks, mom paused and poked me with them.

"Tell me. Did you guys have fun? Did you have any trouble? Is he a good kisser?" I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't hide my smile.

"Yes, we had fun. No trouble. And of you really want to know, his tongue does amazing things, okay? Happy?" She made a face at me and poked me again.

"Watch the sass, mister. I'm still your mother." Her smile fell a bit and she looked down at her noodles. "Blaine, I'm sorry I've not been there for you like I should have been lately. I know a lot of you acting out has been my fault, and I really just wanted to take these few days to spend some time with you. The divorce has been hard on me, but I forget how tough it's been on you too. I know how you hate coming home to an empty house and I just wanted you to know how much I love you... and I'm sorry."

I didn't realize I was crying until I felt the tears hit the back of my hand. It was like my secret dreams were coming to life. Maybe my mom didn't hate me and maybe my dad didn't screw me up completely. She wrapped her tiny arms around me and hugged me close while rubbing circles on my back, just like when I was little. I swallowed and cleared my throat.

"Thanks, mom. I forgive you and I love you too." We sat like that for awhile and I wiped my face on my hand.

"Your food's going to get cold." She caught my eyes and picked up the container again.

"Are you okay?" I nodded.

"Give me some noodles and I'll tell you about my date." Then she smiled. It wasn't one of those fake I-have-to-smile-because-you're-my-kid smiles, it was a real one.

"Deal. So, you like this boy?" I took the bite she offered and tried not to blush.

"Yeah, mom. He's... god he's really the best. I've never felt this way before." She smirked as she took a bite herself.

"You seemed to think his mouth was the best." I hit her with a pillow as she cackled. So damn funny.

"See if I tell you anything ever again."

"Seriously," she said as she wiped her eyes and dished out another bite. "He seems like a good kid. Now, tell me about the night." I chewed and leaned my head back onto the couch.

"Well, first of all, he sings like a fucking angel."

"Blaine Devon..." she warned.

"He sings like a freaking angel..."
