Disclamer: I don't own the characters; they belong to Shonda Rhimes. This work has no other pretension than to have fun.

Your reviews are always expected and appreciated, they make my day, and they help too. Thanks for that, and to add in favorite, and for followers.

The guess who wonders since few chapters, why they don't come back in Seattle, I hope you have your answer in that chapter… Also I thought, they had to be away to Seattle to fix themselves, and to cure.

Chapter 10

The various rounds of chemo were followed one another, exhausting Callie's immune defenses. She had been plagued by several delirious episodes due to unexplained fevers.

In order to avoid any further risk of contamination it was therefore necessary to hospitalize her in a sterile room. Unfortunately, this also meant isolation and strictly limited visits.

As relations with Dr. Stevens did not improve, Arizona was treated like any other attendant, forced to wait patiently for visiting time, to see Callie. Frustrated at being reduced to such powerlessness, her facade that she wanted to keep calm and positive did not reflect the fights that tortured her bowels.

To top it all off, her parents had just called her to tell her that Sofia was sick, the child was feverish and vomited. Of course, Alex had already checked her and had already called to reassure her. In his own words, the little tornado as he liked to call Sofia, would have recovered the energy to destroy the house to the great displeasure of her grandparents, even before she had time to take off from Portland.

The doctor in her, trusted her friend, as well as her daughter's demolition abilities, but the irrational mind of the caring mother, needed to verify it with her own eyes. Even though the child had not expressed it when she spoke to her, to at least comfort her from a distance, she was convinced that Sofia needed her. When she was tired or sick, just like her Latin mother, Hurricane Sofia, became a real chewing gum, tender and sticky, and always needed at least one of her moms to cuddle her. She moans in her thoughts "Well I couldn't do much worse as a family support, in addition to being, a bad wife, that I made sure of a few years ago, I make a lousy ex-wife, absolutely useless doubled an absent mother"

Lying in this bed, separated from her by this cursed glass, Callie was fighting alone against death trying to sneak into every cell of her body. Torn between her almost obsessive need not to leave her ex-wife, and her almost vital desire to be with her daughter, Arizona had the impression that the dormant volcano in her, was going to wake up and implode from one minute to the next.

She was sitting in front of the glass, waiting for the minutes that kept her away from Callie to pass. She tries to focus on what she did best, the only area of her life in which, according to her personal criteria of evaluation, she had not failed, in which, whatever the force of the winds that carried her private life, she had kept control and never lost confidence: medicine.

Was she going to fail there too? She couldn't save Nick, he came too late, she wasn't there to save Tim. But Callie, she had to save her, she couldn't not do it. She had to find a way to get her out of there, and then she was going to love her even more than she had already done. No, more was not possible. Callie had always been her everything, her day, her night, her light at the end of the tunnel. No, loving her more was impossible, but loving her better, making her happy, was what she had always wanted, and now she knew that she could, that she would know how to do it. But to do that, you had to save her first.

So, she stood there, in front of the glass, questioning about the choices of treatments, considering the options that remained. The radiotherapy sessions had to be interrupted for the time being and anyway the last one, had been particularly stressful for Callie.

According to what had become a ritual, Arizona had helped Callie to settle comfortably on the stretcher, she had arranged the blanket over her, then, before the dreaded protection was placed on her face, she had kissed her in the neck, close to the ear, whispering words of encouragement to her only to hear them. Then, she grabbed her hand and brought it to her lips, before turning around to join the medical team following the session.

Through the window, she kept her eyes on the woman lying on the stretcher, trapped in the machine. Suddenly she notes a certain agitation, Callie's body stiffens, her legs move, her hands reaching out to where Arizona was standing, as a cry for help

- Stop it, there's a problem, she's not well, stop right now, you have to get her out of there!

Arizona had screamed at the top of her lungs, stopping the futile chatter of the people in the room. She didn't even know she could scream that loud.

A doctor, had mechanically plugged in the microphone, giving orders to her terrorized ex-wife in a cold voice, devoid of empathy, as if he were reciting a boring refrain.

- Mrs Torres, calm down, there are still a few minutes left.

Practically throwing herself at him, she had ripped the microphone out of the indifferent doctor's hand. Her gentle voice had echoed in the room.

-Calliope, darling, would you like to come to the beach with me?

The bemused medical team looked at her, as if a horn was growing in the middle of her forehead, but Callie's disorderly movements slowed down as soon as she heard the words.

- Yeah, that's good, you see it still works. Focus on my voice, honey.

Sooo, we're on a deserted beach set up on sunbeds, next to each other and we're looking away, both in the same direction. Oh, did I mention you're wearing a really sexy bikini? This detail is useless you are always sexy, even if you wore a garbage bag you would manage to be sexy, which is a bit annoying by the way.

We could hear chuckles in the room, the doctors were all attentive waiting like children for the rest of the story, Arizona could not see them, nor heard them, her mind connected to that of Calliope.

Anyway, let's leave the thing "everyone always thinks you're hot and it pisses me off" for now. Cocktails are placed on a small table between us. Calliope, can you hear the sound of the waves running aground on the beach? The sun licks your coppery skin, so I approach you to apply the sunscreen on your burning body. You and I know you don't need it, your skin is made for the sun, it doesn't burn, but years ago, you pretended to buy my "precautionary principles" argument, just because you know I like to do that, so… maybe I'm taking it a little too hard. Oh but I hear small laughters coming close, Sofia runs towards us in her pretty swimsuit, pink of course, and who is this little boy who accompanies her…

- The session is over Interrupts the doctor

- Wow, how did you do that, Dr. Robbins? Are you some kind of Milton Erickson or something? asks an admiring resident

- Indirect suggestion method, used in phantom limbs.

She had addressed a professional response to the flattering student, throwing a black look at the robot doctor in front of the microphone, adding for herself while hastening to join her ex-wife; Crazy love also helps

-Are you all right?

The desolate brunette, her eyes filled with tears had whispered.

- Thank you, I just panicked at one point, but I'll be fine if I have to, I'll do it again.

She was so brave and fighting, she deserved so much that her life was sweeter.

- Hey, if it's too hard, we'll find another way."

Arizona had spoken while wiping away the tears rolling down the brunette's cheeks, and Callie had laughed as she reproduced her gesture because the tears of the blonde flowed too.

- Your bikini and sunscreen story was a little hot, wasn't it?" Really? The sun licks your skin…

- Yeah, I might have gotten a little carried away, but the kids came to get me back on track

- The kids, huh?

And just like that, tilting her head a little with her eyebrows raised, voluntarily taking on an enigmatic look, she had addressed a magical smile to her, with dimples and eyes shining and everything, and the nightmare had simply disappeared, it had remained only the dream.

A hand touches her shoulder, Colleen comes to warn her that she must put on the sterile outfit. She raises her head towards the devoted nurse, her cheeks are wet, she dries the tears carelessly with the lapel of her sleeve and rushes back into the jar, greeted by Callie's smile that turns in a second into a worried look

- Arizona, you look scary.

- Wow! You know how to talk to girls to make them feel nice! Arizona trying to bring a little lightness but her eyes were telling another story to the brunette.

- Arizona Robbins, no secrets, no more secrets! She was entitled to the full name, Calliope was serious. Her features sag and show signs of tiredness, it was infuriating how she could so easily guess her.

- It's Sofia, she's sick, but don't worry, it's nothing, Alex already checked her, it's just an intestinal flu and...

- Go ahead. Interrupts Callie.

- No, she will be healed very quickly… I don't want to leave you

- What happened to "What you can't do I will do?" With her eyes wide open, staring at her ex-wife, the brunette pauses, she gives Arizona time to weigh the irrefutable argument. Defeated, this one collapses a little more, triggering a tender sneer from Callie

Arizona, our daughter needs one of us right now, and I'm obviously foreclosed, so you need to go. Anyway I'm not moving from here. It's not like if I can run.

- But…

- No buts! Get out of here, Arizona! urges Callie.

Her ex-wife certainly needed to be with Sofia as much as Sofia needed her, Callie knew that. But she also saw how exhausted and depressed the blonde was, she wanted her to get out of this hospital a little bit so that she could find some rest and comfort with her parents and her daughter. However the stubborn woman, would not capitulate without a little authority.

-I'm fed up, you're firing me again … Hit back Arizona with a sulky pout

- I'm going to miss you, sneers Callie. Don't worry about me, I have Marc.

-Since when is that supposed to reassure me? Arizona sighs. I'll be back as soon as I can, I already miss you.

She had gone to Seattle, not without making a few calls, to make sure that Callie would see familiar faces during her absence. The Latin woman continued to have conversations with Marc, which did not bode well, and she seemed to appreciate his presence, which was of great concern to Arizona. She thought that the brunette's mind should be as often as possible, kept in reality to avoid hallucinations, and one or two hours a day of visiting, was insufficient.

For days, she had been positioned on the other side of the glass, so that they could see each other and talk on the phone. She told her, how Sofia had wrapped the colonel around her little finger. The image of her ex-father-in-law stiff as justice, drinking tea with a crown on his head, surrounded by all her daughter's dolls, was so mind-boggling in itself, that it was a real cure for the hallucinations. Portland Hospital was pretty drama-free, even perfectly boring, so, Arizona was telling the latest Grey Sloan news that she had gotten from April. The exhausted Latina sometimes fell asleep in the middle of the conversation. At this point, Arizona was clinging to everything, even what might seem meaningless, to try to save the woman of her life.

She had her own spy in the person of Colleen who had proved to be a valuable help. The nurse loved both women. She had certainly been marked by a small history with Arizona, but had enjoyed working for more than 2 years with Callie. So she facilitated their life in the hospital as much as she could and pledged not only to go and check on Callie more often than protocol required, but also to warn Arizona of any problems.

Meredith, had offered to spend a day in Portland and promised to take Arizona's place in front of the glass. Even if it didn't seem to her the most effective treatment, she didn't have the heart to upset the blonde. Carlos had not been asked to take the first plane, and visit too.

She was lying in bed in Seattle, her child in her arms, and she was slowly caressing her long brown hair identical to the ones Callie had. She closed her eyes, the arms of her baby around her neck calming her anxiety a little. The mother and daughter comforted each other. She feels the child moving with a little discomfort.

- Do you want me to give you my magic hug?

- The one who heals everything?"

- Yes

In response Sofia holds her tightly and snuggles closer still, all against her mommy. Arizona sniffs, it's a typical Callie reaction, when, the two Latins of her life, become cuddly, they both have a compelling need for contacts, and when they have a need, they let it know without ceremony. Laying small light kisses on the child's head, she continues to pass her fingers through the thick dark hair, and to massage with the other hand the painful belly of the little girl, slowly the child falls asleep. When she wakes up, her mommy's eyes bursting with tears, look at her tenderly.

-Mommy, are you crying because Mama will die, like Daddy?"

- Oh Sofia why do you…

-Mama hasn't spoken to me for a long time, you said I can't come to Portland, you have these marks around your eyes, which make you look really sad.

Sofia looked a little more like Callie every day, they had the same natural ease, to express what they felt, Arizona loved this quality that she lacked. Like Callie, her daughter had a skin deep sensibility, she could understand people with a look, she was already reading in her as in an open book. She was so reasonable and mature for her age, there was no point in hiding the truth from her. She tightens her grip on the worried child who needed answers.

-Mama's very sick, honey. Do you remember when I explained to you that the treatments to cure her, could make her very weak? Little girl nods her head. Well … That's exactly what happens. She's in the hospital, in a room protecting her from all the viruses like the one that attacked your little belly.

- That's why I can't see her, not to give her my virus sobs Sofia.

With words stuck in her tight throat, Arizona nods her head

But you're a great doctor, you save a lot of children, can't you save mama?

- I'm trying, honey, I'm trying hard.

At this point in the conversation tears were streaming down the faces of the mother and daughter, Arizona did not even try to fight or hide them, because crying, hugging each other and sharing their grief and fear, was what they both needed.

- You have to save her, mommy, you save babies before they are born, it's much more difficult. Begs Sofia, between tears.

Arizona covers her with kisses, she cannot say a word, how to explain to her little girl who had a blind trust in her to save her mama, who must trust her to feel safe in life, that sometimes despite all our efforts, we did not win the battle. Her thoughts returne to her ex-wife, herself an adult and a doctor, had taken months to accept that Callie had been powerless for her leg… The child plagued with numerous questions prevents Arizona from wallowing in the remorse that often overwhelmed her in recent days.

-Is she always alone, or can you see her?

-I can see her, but through a window, I'm only allowed to walk in with her for an hour a day, wearing a mask, gloves, you know, sterile outfit.

Like Callie did when she was concentrating, the little girl was frowning, biting her lower lip, it was barely noticeable. This picture made Arizona smile, there was no way that she could ever forget Callie, she had her clone in front of her eyes, and that, was another thing that she owed her, the greatest gift that anyone had ever given her.

-But mommy, this is how you are dressed in the hospital in Seattle, in the I.C.U! So why don't they let you stay with mama all the time? You only have to wear your sterile outfit? You're a doctor anyway, you should be able to stay with mama and take care of her. Only you, have to take care of her.

With two mothers so focused on saving lives, Sofia had practically grown up in the hospital. She had always been in this field; she was familiar with all medical terms, instruments and even certain procedures. Arizona eyebrows raised, eyes wide open, looks at her daughter staring, slowly a smile appears on her lips, illuminating the face of the surgeon. Is she so blinded by grief that she needed her seven-year-old daughter to make her feel the obvious?

- Yeah only me, have to take care of her. Oh I love you my baby, I love you so much. She kisses her; laughing, hugging her in a hug a little too strong at the child's taste

- Mommy! The kid struggles while protesting, she does not understand everything about her mother's change of mood, but it looked good. I'm not a baby anymore, and I think I'm cured. I don't need your magic hugs anymore, mama needs them, you should go back to Portland. Arizona giggles, her tears mingling with her laughter ignoring Sofia's objections, she devours her daughter with kisses.

- My god, I can't believe it, you fire me like her!

The next day, she takes the plane back to Portland, and a few hours later, she sneaks in a sterile outfit, into Callie's sleeping room, curled up in a ball. She climbs up on the bed, and slips up against the body of her ex-wife wrapping her arm around her waist. Gently, she rubs with the tip of her nose, the back of the brunette's head which is awakened by the tender contact. With a hoarse voice still full of fatigue, Callie asks without turning around.

-What are you doing here, you're gonna get fired by Stevens?

- I am on a mission, sent by a little brown angel who claims that my hugs are magical and that they heal everything. Whispers Arizona in her ear

- How is she?

- Well. All right. She is awesome, Callie. She is the most beautiful thing we've ever done, She's … she is all of you. Thank you so much.

Alerted by the emotion in Arizona's voice, Callie turns to face her ex-wife. Their faces a few inches away, eyes in the eyes, they lock themselves in the intimacy of this tender closeness

- Thank you, why? Callie whispers

- Thank you for always knowing before me what I needed, thank you for choosing me to be her mother, thank you for everything. For showing me the way so often

- Wow, Mrs Robbins, you are very sentimental all of a sudden. Am I gonna die?

- I forbid you, do you hear me! I have so much that I still want to tell you and our daughter too.

Seeking to change the mood, the blonde takes a cheerful tone. Sofia has recorded videos for you, poems, songs… I have to show you one a day, these are the orders, I'm on a mission.

- Stevens is not going to buy your little mission story, he's going to fire you. Smirks Callie

- Stevens is going to get fucked, I got hired by his boss. Holding out a hand as an introduction. Nice to meet you, Arizona Robbins, private nurse at the exclusive service of patient Torres.

The black eyes wide open in amazement, admire this little air of superiority that the blonde wears when she is proud of her. The mischievous glow that illuminates her eyes with an oceanic blue, her smile making appear two killer dimples and that makes everything better, all those things that give her an indefinable charm, that Callie would never again stop looking. Everything is there, everything that made her falling in love with this woman beyond reason is again before these eyes, and even more.

-What did you do?

- I don't leave you anymore. You didn't think, I hope, that I was gonna leave you in the hands of that red, totally gay nurse who's eating you with her eyes. My gaydar is foolproof!

Emotion mingles Callie's laughter in the face of Arizona's almost avowed jealousy. Her gaydar had always been very sharp. It was a game between them, Arizona prided herself on being able to recognize a lesbian at first glance, and she often did, even though she was a little inclined to see them everywhere, especially if they had the misfortune of showing any interest in Callie.

- They win, they have an overqualified nurse free in addition!

- Marc says you haven't changed, ever so possessive. Callie bursts with laughter. Oh, and then he also says that you still have beautiful boobs.

- Shut up, Marc!" said Arizona sneers and looked me in the eyes.

-He also said he knew you were going to do very well without him.

Suddenly a shadow passes through the blue eyes, the memory of the woods resurfaces. Marc with his head on her lap, who never stopped wanting to die, she, who was trying to bring him back, to Callie and Sofia, the promises she had made to him and that she had not been able to keep.

-Don't worry, Marc, I got this, I'm not screwing up anymore, I'm here now. I'll take care of our girls.

With her eyes gleaming with tears she held, she turned to Callie, her shy voice barely higher than a whisper.

Do you think he heard me? Both knew to whom this words were addressed, and it was not to Mark.

- You are … Arizona you are … The blonde plunges her head into Callie's neck not letting her express herself

- You won't be able to get rid of me now."

She whispers these words promising without really doing so, because they had a long passive with promises

-Why, did I even try one day?

The two women look at each other, an infinite tenderness in their eyes, Callie lays her hand towards the face of the blonde touching her cheek through the mask with the back of her fingers. I have so much more to say to you, too.

- So please live. Live for Sofia and live for me.

-That's what Marc tells me every day, I do my best Arizona, I swear.

-I know my heart, and you're going to make it. But to do that, you have to let Marc go. She takes a deep breath repressing from years of regret. I know you miss him and I didn't really give you time to grieve, but you have to do it now. You have to say goodbye to him, Callie. The tumor must not evolve, you must fight against it, Marc must leave.

- Are you jealous of my dead friend Arizona?

- I think you're exhausted, and you could give yourself up in that comfort.

-I miss him.

-I know, I miss him too, but he's gone, and you have to fight and stay with me.

- We were so happy, you and I with Sofia when he was here.

- Yeah, that was great, the blonde's eyes shone in the memory of happy days. It was great happiness, and it will be great again, I …

- Promise?

- I promise.

They had just gone one step further, to start promising again and believing in it, because doubts, false pretenses, questions had no place. Callie closes her eyes and falls asleep in the arms of her very special nurse.

Arizona spends days and nights in the sterile bubble. As her personal nurse, she takes care of Callie's health, as her very loving ex-wife, she distracts her, as everything, she even helps to do her grooming, and day after day the fever decreases, the vitals improve.

-Hmm, when you get out of here, I may well regret those moments! passing a washcloth in her ex-wife's bare back

- This is something that could be easily fixed. I think I remember how much you enjoyed sharing a bath.

- It was for the sole purpose of saving the planet.

She laughs not even believing in her own joke and well convinced that Callie did not believe in it either. She loved to curl up in Callie's arms in the bathtub, or surprise her in the shower, when everything was simple and natural.

-Do you remember when Lexie caught us in the shower?

- Yeah poor Lexie she was … so embarrassed. Oh I liked Lexie.

- Yeah … Arizona dreamy was thinking. It was all we could think about back then.

- We didn't just think about it. Callie remarked in a chuckle

- Sure, we worked like crazy, and we made love the rest of the time.

- Do you miss it?

- What about making love? Asks Arizona surprise by the question. Callie looks up to the sky.

- No, I know that about you. You're... uh, sex for you is like donuts.

- Like doughnuts? Arizona winces questioning her ex with her eyes

- Yeah, I mean… It's the universal cure for you, like doughnuts!"

- Another totally erroneous theory. Retorts the blonde, freezing herself a little.

She had no problem with the way she led her sexual life, which might seem unbridled to some, but Callie's judgment was still stinging. She walks away carelessly throwing Callie a T-shirt to cover her.

- Do you even know how long I didn't have sex?

- 7 months 2 weeks and 3 days, I am intimately aware. I was very supportive, I was your wife.

Unaware of Arizona's annoyance, Callie chatted innocently alluding to the long recovery after amputation.

- Not that, not with you. I never had sex with you, I made love.

Specifies Arizona with her finger up to insist on this point. When you left me, I spent months waiting for you to come back, until you brought your new perfect true love to the hospital. You see, this may not be my cure for everything! But what's true is that I ate a lot of doughnuts.

The aggressive passive tone awakens the Latina to the tension to cut with the knife that had invaded the space. Callie blames herself for the joke, she scratches her throat. The trial and her lawyer's allegations had made the subject more than sensitive.

- Sorry, I was just kidding. I won't have to joke about it anymore, it was for fun Arizona

- I don't think it's a joke; it's a pretty recurring theme. It would have been a joke before, and I certainly would have laughed a lot, but now it sounds more like an innuendo. And that's exactly what scares me, something cannot go away.

Callie could see that she was not only angry, she had been insulted, offended, humiliated. Everything in her posture made it know, the tone of her voice was moved and cold.

-I did what I could, to continue Callie, and it wasn't easy. You did what you could too. You fell in love, you turned our whole lives upside down for that woman you knew for five minutes. Giggling. I guess she was your doughnut too.

- Oh my God, Arizona, you have a sense of metaphor! Really my doughnut, huh?

Realizing her words, the blonde striking Callie on the arm cannot prevent a smile despite her annoyance

-Oh shit! You just ruined my favorite dessert; I won't be able to eat donuts anymore without having that mental image

- Yeah, sorry.

She had walked up towards her ex-wife and grabbed her by the waist, putting her head on her shoulder to see her face. She wasn't apologizing for dessert, she knows that despite the humor, Arizona was processing the shock. As for her, she also had to digest, the pain of having heard in Grey Sloan to say that her ex-wife was passing from arm to arm, pretending that it didn't matter to her while it was tearing her apart, in silence, and of having taken revenge in the most sneaky and vile way that it could be. She takes the blonde in her arms posing a kiss on her temple . You don't have to explain yourself, I'm stupid.

- Just tell me she's not between us yet.

- Who Penny?

- No, Boswell! Exclaimed the blonde, turning abruptly. You were thinking about it, weren't you?

-Not at all; you're the one thinking about it. It was a stupid joke, just to laugh, because before you knew me, you were a little… well… Marc as a woman.

- But that was before, a long time ago, I was young and… I was experimenting while waiting for you… Wait… you're still thinking about Penny?

- No! Arizona of course not!

- You did. You asked "Who Penny?" You thought of her first…

- You the one who brought her up, Callie tries to explain, you said she was a donut! Uh... so you're thinking about Boswell, then?

- No! I was afraid you were thinking of Boswell! Cries the blonde.

Callie raises her eyes and arms towards the sky, she feels as if she's being teleported, in their childish bickering, years ago in Seattle.

-Gruuhh Arizona! I was joking inappropriately and without innuendo as I have always done! That's my Marc's side. I wasn't thinking about Boswell or Penny or anyone else for that matter okay?

Arizona accepts the olive strand tense, the mine a little sullen anyway.

- Okay, so I'm not thinking about Penny either!

- Okay! Meets Callie firmly, concealing the smile, to the obvious effort her ex-wife was making

- Or about "the steak knife" and the sexy dress you wore for her.

- Okay Callie can't hide a nasty little pleasure from seeing Arizona jealous.

- Or about that stupid cop, who was head over heels for you and that I would have kicked in the butt, for the way he had to undress you with his eyes

- Okayyy

- And … moans Arizona And all the others I don't know and I don't want to know ever.

- "I will never be the same again, I will never again be the one you loved."

Callie cheerfully sings the words that Arizona had so often reminded her of when she was afraid of losing Callie, because she did not find herself enough for her.

Obviously not everything has changed you are still jealous!

She looks at the woman beside her, who shakes her shoulders like a sullen child. For the last 10 years, she's been wondering how the same person can at the same time combine such sex appeal and such childish pouts, and that, make her so hot.

- I was jealous too! When you were dating with Richard… Imagining you with a lot of women was not easy…

- Because you think it was easier to imagine yourself with just one woman that you present as true love, something like you've never lived. Seeing you with her everywhere, in the hospital, at parties, with Sofia, and continuing to be kind, understanding, because she made you happy, and I had to be happy for you. What is certain is that I was certainly absolutely not for me. It wasn't easy, Callie.

During the conversation they had sat face to face on the bed confronting each other honestly. For the first time, they delivered in all sincerity, what their life had been like during the separation, their pain, their efforts, and that, made things lighter, simply because it was the truth.

The two women realized that they had pretended so much, not to be afraid, not to be tired, not to be in pain, that she had made a habit of seeing only what she wanted to see, of believing only what they wanted to believe. They had lied so much to themselves that their lie had become their reality, by hiding their face they had ended up losing sight of the evidence before their eyes.

I don't know how you could have done that, but I think you just admitted that you were jealous.

Callie keep joking. She struggled to cope with the pain she had inflicted on her ex-wife, mostly unconsciously, because at that time she was confused. Convinced that the blonde would always make her suffer, she was often blinded by anger when she thought of Arizona, obsessed with the desire to forget her and move on to something finally easy, she struggled with her own difficulties

- I am not jealous, I am worried by nature

- A skeptical yes comes out of the Latin woman's mouth. You know, the first time she said me I "love you," I said, "thank you."

- No! Callie I don't want to know! Opposes Arizona putting her hands on her ears … Thank you? She exclaims suddenly realizing what she had just heard. Oh Callie, it's much worse than "we'll see you later"

- Yeah, I'm not as sure as you! Sneers Callie. But what's worse is that there hasn't been a second time. The brunette was laughing

- You mean you moved with our daughter thousands of miles away, with a woman you never even told I love you.

The brunette nods her head retrospectively dismayed

- It was so weird, I couldn't. The next day you called her my girlfriend, and I didn't even do it...

- Oh, it's going to be my fault again!

- No, it's no one's fault, but you can admit that if you had been more sincere, if you had told me ...

- More sincere? more sincere! You told me you didn't miss me enough!

- But it was at the beginning of our separation, and it was you who deduced "not enough", I didn't even answer. Of course I missed you like crazy. But enough for why? To do the same thing again for the umpteenth time! We weren't going anywhere!

- No, I was going somewhere and you stopped holding my hand.

-And if we simply admitted that all the messages were scrambled, because we were totally disoriented smiled tenderly the brunette in a hurry to close this mortifying discussion, and to smoke the peace pipe with her ex-woman, with whom today the relations were beautiful.

- Um, that would sum up the situation pretty well

- So you miss work? The scalpel, the adrenaline, you know? Working was your life.

- Working was my refuge, when I was scared, when I was in pain, when I was sad, there was work. I was concentrating, it was the only time I felt like I had everything under control, and it made me feel safe, I even felt good sometimes. That was more like my doughnut

Callie hated herself so much for making her feel so bad, and at that moment she would have given so much to be able to erase everything with a wave of a magic wand

- You've really suffered. I sometimes feel like I was put on this earth to make you suffer

- Yeah confirm Arizona without hesitation.

Shocked by the assurance with which Arizona had responded, Callie turns to the blonde. Of course she did not expect congratulations, but at least a little indulgence, just acknowledging that they had hurt each other, a kind of mutual responsibility. Impassive, Arizona was biting her lower lip, staring at the ceiling as if she was looking for THE solution to the world's hunger problem.

- Okaayyy says the disappointed brunette

- Or to give me my greatest orgasms. The blonde finally adds giving the impression of wondering about this crucial question.

The surprise passed, Callie bursts with laughter, quickly joined by her ex-wife.

- Come on, we both hurt each other, but it's in the past, we understood that. We were… She shakes her head. We've misjudged everything, we've made a lot of bad decisions, we need to bury this now. Dreamy she confirms and yeah I believe you were created to make me join the seventh heaven!

-Yeah?

-Yeah.

-Better than the orgasm specialist?

- Without comparison Arizona hoped that Callie would return the courtesy, but since the brunette had taken refuge in a torturous silence, she ended up asking

- You? A mischievous smile brightens Callie's face

- I will answer you when you admit that you were jealous.

- Oh, I'm not worried, I know my strength, Calliope! Answer Arizona in a sufficient tone. You shouldn't have challenged her, she was competitive.

- Maybe, but you don't know the others.

Suddenly, Arizona, no longer found this sexy little conversation very pleasant.

- I was jealous. Happy? So what about you?

- Um, I have… fairly good memories.

- Fairly good memories? Fairly good memories, huh? Having sex with me just left you with " Fairly good memories"?

The absolutely vexed blonde starts to walk in the room, nervously she starts to unfold and fold clothes, feverishly tidying up things that were already in their place, under the very amused look of the brunette

- It is essential to program a new tep scan, this tumor impairs your memory. "Fairly good memories!" You'll see when you come out of this thing. The blonde grunts for herself in a low voice

- Excuse me? Asks Callie looking innocent

- Nothing!

- Have I heard a promise of mind-blowing sex? I can't wait! Callie was having a lot of fun, she had forgotten how much she loved tricking her wife.

Often that since you caress my right boob while you sleep, my libido has made its great comeback! The left is a little jealous though. She bursts with laughter

At these words Arizona becomes fixed, ceasing all her useless activities.

- What? I'm not doing this!

The offended look of the blonde was the icing on the cake, Callie was trying to keep the triumph modest, but her smile betrayed her, she responds by simply nodding her head, smiling from ear to ear

- Why didn't you tell me that?

- Because you would have stopped doing it, and it's one part of the very, very, very good memories!

On nights while Callie sleeps, as a very conscientious nurse, Arizona continues to monitor her regularly. The vitals are good, fever's stable most of the time. She's working on a new plan. Tomorrow she will ask for a check-up, she wanted they make news tests, a scan that she will send to Amelia. If it's still necessary Callie will be strong enough to resume, radiotherapy and chemo treatment, or consider surgery.

The next day, as planned during the visits, Doctor Steven, was not the most pleasant. He had been forced to reluctantly accept Arizona's permanent presence, and made it known through by derogatory behavior towards the surgeon. Surrounded by students, he did his consultation, completely ignoring the woman. Strategically, Arizona stood in front of the door, thus, making impossible for the oncologist to retreat.

- Dr. Stevens, are you not considering a new pet scan ?

- Hum

- Can we do that today, please? The doctor is forced to give an answer

- There is no emergency, she is still weak, I warned you, chemo plus radiotherapy…

- She's alive, and she's getting better and better. So we need to take stock, before we consider surgery.

- I believe you are a nurse here Mrs. Robbins, so please stay in your place as a nurse Mrs. Robbins

- Doctor Robbins, please. Corrects Arizona coldly. I argue that sometimes taking the seemingly drastic measures is the right thing to do to save a life. Sometimes you have to be brave, and take risks

Stevens addressing the students who drank his words, acting smart, thinking to destabilize the blonde

- Dr. Robbins is a fetal surgeon, but she knows more about cancer than an oncologist

- No, Dr Stevens, it is not the surgeon speaking here, it is the patient.

She pulls her pants up on her left leg causing silence among residents and interns as well as a mask of stupor on Dr. Stevens' usually with a neutral face. The agility with which she walked had not allowed him to imagine for a second, that she was equipped with a prosthesis.

-I just know it, that's all. That courage I'm talking about, saved my life. Then I know it, Dr Stevens! I know it that's all

She turns her head towards Callie, offering a big smile to the woman who had saved her life, and who had been waiting for these words for five long years. Black eyes filled with tears, Callie takes a deep breath before going to the oncologist

-Dr. Stevens, do not underestimate Dr. Robbins and please…

- Forget Callie. The blonde nods her shoulders, meaning the little importance of the doctor's words . But the brunette had not finished with the condescending and pretentious doctor.

- She is an excellent general surgeon, one of the best pediatric surgeons in the country too, people cross the country to entrust her with their child, she is also considered one of the best fetal surgeons. And even though she's not an oncologist, I trust her more than anyone else's, including you. Thank you for what you did, but we're going back to Seattle now.

Declares the Latina dryly, pride reading on her face

She turns to Arizona who opened and closed her mouth without getting the slightest sound

- We're going home, honey. I can walk big enough to get back to Seattle, now.
