After leaving HopHopHop town, one of the more stupid names of the world that surrounded him, Phillip had a few more whirlwind adventures with Ash and gang.
Helping a Pokémon breeder regain confidence in herself and her passions, watching Ash and Brock participate in a fighting tournament, clearing a town of a multitude of Muk and Grimers, and saving a forested area from a destructive dam builder. There were some costs to the adventures; Ash left his Primeape to train with a Fighting Pokémon user. However, there was also celebration as Ash gained a Muk and Brock obtained a Vulpix. Team Rocket also managed to get a few ups too, as both Jessie and James had their main Pokémon evolve into Arbok and Weezing respectfully, though it didn't help them much in the end.
Which now leads Phillip to where he is now, travelling the outskirts of Fushcia city in search of the Ninja Mansion a.k.a Fushcia City's Gym.
"You think they'd make it slightly easier to find for challengers," Phillip mumbled to himself as he looked side to side of the path he walked upon, not wanting to miss any details that could correct him. The only thing he caught was a bipedal, purple-haired bug with red eyes that followed him through the trees.
Luckily enough, Phillip found the gym when he happened to find a gorge with a river at the bottom. The gym was on the other side, but a large, wooden board was placed as a bridge across.
The gym had blue-green roofing and seemed like an ancient Japanese mansion. From the front, it seemed slightly intimidating, but an aerial view showed it to be smaller than what the front portrayed.
Walking through the front gate and the front door, one could end up with the belief that the mansion was empty, but Phillip knew better. Turning immediately to his right, Phillip knocked on the wall in front of him, revealing the wall to be a rotating doorway. He then watched as the purple bug that was following him, a Venonat, pop out from the hidden room and continued farther into the Mansion.
The first turn lead into a trap which involved a Voltorb, a Pokémon that looked like a sentient Pokéball, and its electricity. Thankfully, Phillip's immunity to electricity allowed him to pass by with no interruptions.
Climbing the stairs to the next floor, Phillip saw that Venonat was on the other side of the hall. As he got closer, Phillip stopped at the midway point and lifted his hand to knock right in front of him.
It hit glass.
Turning to the right, Phillip saw the Venonat was peering out of another hidden, rotating door. Following it, Phillip entered the room... only to find ten ninja stars flying towards.
In one quick, and nearly invisible, move, Phillip caught all ten stars and dropped them onto the floor.
"If you were hoping to get the drop on me, make it less obvious," Phillip said, looking towards the ceiling as he did so. Someone then fell to floor.
The person was woman, whose green hair was tied into a ponytail. She wore a pink ninja garb that only went to her mid-thigh, with red trimming and a black sash, along with red gloves and boots. At her chest, where the garb split, you could see an undershirt made of fishnet, though was far less revealing than you would think.
As she stood from her kneeling position, she spoke, "You got through those traps, but you cannot leave until you battle in me in a Pokémon battle!"
Phillip sighed, "Fine."
She grinned and stated the rules. "One Pokémon for each of us. Chose yours."
"Charizard, if you please," Phillip said casually as he lightly tossed a Pokéball to the floor. Out came a human-sized, bipedal orange dragon with bat-like wings with blue-green undersides, a bulky cream belly that ran down the underside of its tail, and skinny arms with three clawed digits. Its head had two horns at the back, a slightly raised nostril, and light blue eyes on either side. Its legs were stocky, with three-digit clawed feet, and its tail had a bright orange fire at the end.
"I select Venonat," she called as the bug jumped in front of her to join the battle.
The fight, if you could call it one, was completely one-sided. One Flamethrower attack
from Charizard was enough, as the Venonat was too slow to dodge it.
Thanks to the filler adventures that Phillip had, most of his Pokémon were fully evolved, the only one that has being Pikachu due to object relative.
As the battle ended, a Voltorb, from out of nowhere, rolled into the middle of the room and exploded, making a smoke cloud that filled the area. As the smoked cleared, Phillip noticed the stage had shifted.
The woman was kneeled in front of a spiky, black-haired man that wore a blue ninja garb that included pants this time, with black trimming and a red scarf that went to his ankles. The top of the garb was tucked in, while the waist line of the pants seemed to fit tightly around his stomach. Similar to the woman, a fishnet undershirt was seen underneath the garb when it parted ways at his chest.
The man turned his attention away from the woman to aim his glare at Phillip.
"You may not leave this venerable mansion unless you do battle with me."
"Well, I wasn't really leaving until I won my badge, Koga," Phillip stated with a smirk.
"Very well then," Koga said with a frown, before returning his attention back to the kneeling woman. "Aya, if you would." Aya nodded before she stood and walked to one side of the room.
"Aya will be our referee," Koga stated, "This will be a two-on-two battle. "
"Pidgeot, you're up."
"Then I shall lead with Venonat."
The two Pokémon came out, however something else happened. As soon as Koga's Venonat came onto the field, it immediately evolved. Its evolution into a moth with gray abdomen and a purple head and thorax. It had bulbous, round light blue eyes, a small mandible with two white fangs at the bottom of its head, and a three-point crest at the top. Its abdomen had six legs clinging to it, three on each side. Its wings had thin black venation and the abdomen had three zigzagging lines going around it. It was now called Venomoth.
Phillip's Pokémon hadn't changed that much from when it was a Pidgeotto. It had grown larger, the cream feathers at its cheeks now bridged to the stomach feathers from the front of the neck, the tail feathers were completely red, and its crest now extended to its tail and had a cream-colored center.
Koga gave a small smile. "As you can see, this Venonat has more experience than the one you just fought."
"Yeah, well," Phillip started before a loud crash came from the arena before them, Pidgeot flying triumphantly above the now crumpled form of the Venomoth. "That's not saying much."
Koga returned to frown as he withdrew his new Venomoth. "I see you use speed as your weapon." He pulled out the next Pokéball. "Then, meet your equal. Come, Golbat!"
Golbat was … a bat. A large, bulbous blue bat where the majority of its face was a gaping hole for its mouth with four fangs, two up top and another two on the bottom, leaving a small space above for two eyes with black, slit pupils. At the top of its head was two small, triangular ears with purple interiors and two wings with purple undersides at the side, while having two long, thin legs and feet.
This battle was slightly longer now that Pidgeot had to contend with a much better opponent. With both being aerial, the battle revolved around the two passing by each, attacks clashed against the others, before they turned around for another pass. The trainers stood by and watched, though one was slightly more animated than the other.
"I see you have mastered silent commands," Koga said as he twisted his head all over to indicate the attack his Golbat would take. Phillip didn't answer immediately as he kept his eyes on Pidgeot, before nodding once.
Koga believed it was meant for him, but Pidgeot knew better.
With a sudden dive, Pidgeot managed to surprise Golbat with a sudden Quick Attack going up. With Golbat's speed countered, Pidgeot finished the battle with on final attack that sent its opponent stumbling to the ground.
With the new badge in hand, and Pidgeot on his arm, Phillip feed Pidgeot a snack before starting down. However, before going too far from the gym, Phillip turned his head to glare at nearby cliff. A red beam shot from his eyes towards the tip of the cliff before it exploded, sending a familiar trio farther away.
"Avoid those three," Phillip said before he sighed, "now let's see if we can get to the next gym quickly."
Constructive Criticism is greatly appreciated.
