The next chapter is posted! Enjoy :)
Being pregnant certainly took some getting use to in the coming months. Especially, when your so use to seeing yourself as tiny. Hanna's steadily growing belly still seemed strange to her. But at least so far, the child was healthy. Even though this baby wasn't conceived in the best way, she still loved it. The child may have been a part of Frieza. But it was a part of her too. Right now, Hanna is just trying to make the best of this situation.
There were times, she worried that Frieza may harm her and make her lose the child. Or worse, kill the child once it is born. Though he assured her left and right, that he wouldn't do that. Hanna also knows he's not fond of kids. Which makes her wonder is she will be the one solely taking care of the baby. If she were still back on Earth, then maybe she could have. But on this ship, it made for awkwardness and uneasiness.
The ship was definitely not a place where she would want to raise her child. This has all been leading up to one decision. Hanna wanted to bring up the possibility of her going back to Earth. It's still her home and it's the most safe and healthy way of bringing up the baby. Dragging them all across the corners of the universe is no way for a child to live and seemed unfair to them.
Not to mention, Hanna really doesn't want to subject them to their Father's horrific business. He's been unusually kind and understanding to her so far. But the real question was; will he really allow them to live on Earth? She knew he wasn't welcomed there. That may make it hard for him to visit his child if he wanted to. Frieza already informed her on several past occasions about two big foes of his that live there. Apparently, they are the reason why all of his missions on Earth have been botched.
Hanna was still afraid of him. But she had to put her foot down and push away her fear for her baby. She needed to inform him on the importance of this child's healthy and safety. Something she feels it will not get on a ship way out in space. The challenge is how to tell him this and express her concerns. Ever since she found out she was pregnant and she spoke at that time. She's been speaking again since then.
A part of her believes he may go for the idea. She could already tell Frieza appears rather detached from Hanna's pregnancy. He hardly acknowledges it nor talks about the child. He won't even look at or touch her swelling stomach. At best, all he reminds her of is to keep up with her visits to the Med Room to ensure that everything is alright. And for some reason, Hanna feels hurt with his rather cold indifference with their unborn child.
Whenever he speaks with her, he never asks or inquires about the child. If anything, Frieza acts like nothing is different than it was before Hanna became pregnant. She always went to her Doctor's visits alone, even for the ultrasounds. Because of her up and down emotions, Hanna would find herself crying a lot when he's not around. Crying because she misses home. Crying in fear for her child. Most of all; crying because the man she thought was beginning to show another side of himself to her, is acting so distant with her and their baby.
The latest being when she felt the baby kick while they were conversing one evening in his room. Hanna got a little excited, because it was the first time she felt it kick. She told Frieza she felt it and asked if he wanted to feel too. But he just shrugged it off and went to talk about a different topic, like she didn't even mention anything about what just occurred. This was one time Hanna couldn't hold in the tears until he left. She started crying then and there. This left the tyrant feeling a bit uneasy. He awkwardly pulled her into a one armed hug, all the while avoiding touching her growing belly.
The months seemed to fly by. Before Hanna knew it, she was already seven months along. The baby was still doing very well and becoming stronger each month that drew closer to her due date. She was excited but anxious for a few reasons. Right now, trying to find the best way of asking Frieza to possibly send her back home to raise their child. Another had to do with health. Doctor Bleu told her that she cannot delivery naturally. They must perform a C-Section between the eight and a half and nine month marker of the pregnancy.
When Hanna asked why that is, the doctor didn't fully tell her. He was concerned it would make her worry and add to her stress. Which is no good for neither mother or child. All he did tell her was it had to do with the child being a hybrid. Though she has a feeling Frieza knows. How could he not? The doctor was informed to give the tyrant an update on each of her visits. So besides asking him about taking her home, she will also ask him what the doctor told him.
She was waiting patiently in his room for him to return with food. After about seven minutes, he came in with a tray of food. He put the tray on his desk like he always does before turning back to her. This is when he noticed her being a bit fidgety. He brought her food over to her where she was sitting. She took it and thanked him. As she ate, he could see something really was troubling her.
"What's wrong?" He asks.
Hanna looked up from her food.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"Something seems to be troubling you. Is something wrong?" He asks again.
Hanna takes a steady breath before answering.
"Have a lot on my mind I guess. Why won't Doctor Bleu tell me the reasoning behind having a C-Section? I know there is more he isn't telling me. And...I know he informs you on every update after I finish a visit." She says.
"And you wish for me to tell you what he told me. Is that it?" He replies.
"Yeah, among other things." Hanna says.
Frieza seemed hesitant on telling her, and when he didn't say anything right away. She spoke again.
"Is...is the baby in danger?" She asks, in a slightly shaky voice.
He shakes his head.
"No, not if we do everything right. But, I did run into Doctor Bleu on the way here as I was bringing the food up. He told me he would like to put you on bed rest. Starting in a few short weeks. Possibly the end of this month." He tells her.
"Why? What is it your not telling me?" Hanna asks, getting a little impatient.
"We don't want to say anything. Because we are concerned it would make you worry and become stressed. Which could only make it worse for both of you." Frieza stated.
"I'm already worried because no one will tell me what the fuck is going on." She snapped, getting agitated.
He sighs, he really doesn't want to tell her. But something tells him she won't let it go until he does tell her.
"It has to do with the placenta. Where it's located, it's blocking the birth canal. If you were to give birth naturally, it could rupture. If it does, it could cause a hemorrhage and blood loss. The end results...you and the child would die. I believe he called it; placental abruption." Frieza said.
This news certainly alarmed her. Though in the end, she was more worried about losing her baby. Rather than dying herself. If she died, that's one thing. But Hanna certainly didn't want her baby to die. She was silent for several moments before she spoke.
"I understand." She said, barely above a whisper.
Frieza grasped her hand.
"You will both be fine. I have the best doctors aboard this ship. They will ensure a safe delivery." He assured her.
"And after?" She asked.
He furrowed his eye ridges in confusion.
"What do you mean?" He asks.
It's now or never. Hanna must ask the other important question on her mind.
"Do you really plan to just keep dragging us around space forever? That isn't a life. Certainly not a good one for a baby." She stated.
A small, sad smile forms on his face.
"I knew this would come up at some point." He said.
"Then you know it to be true." She added.
"Yes, and if I had to guess; you wish to go back to Earth don't you?" He asks.
Hanna nodded.
"It's the best option they have going for them. If we want the child to grow up happy and healthy. Then Earth would be the best choice. They wouldn't have to worry about constantly moving around. They would have a good, stable home. You said it yourself, aliens are already present on Earth. Most of them lived there their entire life. And no one has really bothered them." She said.
"I just...don't want to give you up. You do realize if I do this; it would be difficult for me to come see you. There maybe a good chance, I may hardly if ever get to see you. Either of you." He confessed.
She smiles sadly at this. Frieza may think this move doesn't affect her. But it does, because a part of her will miss him. He may have been cruel and heartless towards her, and did unspeakable things to her. But he also proved that he is capable of change. She has witnessed this for the last several months now. For some reason, Hanna believes he is truly sorry for what he'd done to her. And he's been trying like hell to make it up to her ever since.
"I understand, but this isn't about what you or I want. This is about what's best for the baby. They come first." Hanna says.
Frieza looks away, he knows she's right. This is one time he cannot be selfish. He had important decisions to make. Even if said decisions will hurt him in the long run.
"I know you believe I do not care for this child. But when it all comes down to it; it really has more to do with me not knowing how to be a parent. That I'm incapable of being one. But you are right, the first step in the right direction would be...letting you go." He said.
Though as he's saying this, a knot is forming in his chest. He wasn't meant to have Hanna or this child. All along, Frieza knew this from the very beginning. But tried denying it all these months. He started believing, that if you truly care for someone; then it's best to let them go. No matter how much it hurts.
"After a safe delivery...I will return you to Earth with the child." He added.
Happy tears came to Hanna's eyes. This had probably been the most unselfish thing he could've done for her and their child. Hanna knows deep down, that it's not forever. She believes he will find a way to come see them. She knew a lot of it had to do with his foes, and that they don't want him on Earth. Shit, if she had to talk with them herself, then she would. If it meant he be allowed to see her and their baby. Then there is that one small part of her; that actually wishes he could stay with them.
Hanna moves in closer to Frieza on the large comfy chair. She wraps her arms around his waist and rests her cheek against his collarbone. He didn't do anything at first. Then he slowly returns the gesture, and rests his cheek against her head.
"You still keep calling the child 'it'. You still wish to be surprised?" He asks.
She smiles, "Yeah. Did he tell you what it was?"
"No, I didn't wish to know either. Didn't really want to know anything about it. Except inquiries about their health and yours." He admitted.
"You know, you may not want to know anything about it. But the fact you wish to know something important like their health; already points you in the right direction of being capable of being a good parent. Whether you realize it or not." Hanna says.
Frieza continues to embrace her.
"And that is why I must let you go. Both of you. Because I do not wish to further subject you or the child in the wallowing toxicity that is my life and my world. I've never known humanity. Until I spent these last several months with you, Hanna. I should hate you for it. But I don't. For all the corruption that is me, it is why I cannot have you. I wasn't meant to have you in my life. But I don't regret it either." He confessed.
More tears rolled down her cheeks at his confession. Because she knew this was Frieza's way of saying he really cared for her. It was in this moment, the baby decided to move and kick one of it's legs out. From Hanna and Frieza's position of having her pressed against his side, he too felt the kick in his side from the child. That alone made him almost crumble on the spot. Yes, as much as it hurts him to admit it. Sending Hanna back so that her and their baby had a brighter future, was definitely the right thing to do.
His only guilt was that, it may happen a lot sooner than she thinks. With all the training he's done this last year and a half. He felt confident that he could finally defeat his foes Goku and Vegeta. And he will be doing just that within a month and a half's time. Maybe then, he could find peace with Hanna and their child. If everything went according to plan, Frieza may make the bold move on staying with her and their baby on Earth. The empire, the dealings; were one thing. But if there is one thing he learned, is that Hanna and their child became more important to him and his so called; 'Empire' became pointless.
Looks like they have some difficult obstacles ahead. Between Hanna's high risk pregnancy and Frieza's painful decision to let them go. Things are certainly not getting any easier for them. Until Next Time ;)
