Digimon Universe part 23
"Demons"
"How are the orientation stabilizers?"
"Green."
"Wing strength?"
"Green."
"Digivice operation system?"
"Green."
"Any excess energy loss?"
"We are in the green there too. All good on that."
"Viral infection level?"
"Sitting at a manageable 30%."
"Onboard operating system?"
"Green."
"Digital partner AI?"
"Ready whenever you are."
"Alright, looks like we're ready," Tak says staring at the bustling city of NeoOdaiba. He floats in the air in his MagnaAnemon mode, with wings spread. "Lets do it!"
Tak dives down in the air folding in his wings, the wind whistling in his ears as he is in free fall. He opens his wings catching the wind as he flies along the air traffic of the city, easily keeping pacing with the flying vehicles. He catches the eyes of surprised drivers and riders alike. He moves the air easily dodging the cars since they have automatic onboard computers that have the vehicles travel in a set path between destinations. Tak swerves in the air flying like a leaf on the wind. All eight wings open as they catch the wind. Then he gives a mighty flap as he gains altitude taking him higher with only a few flaps of the powerful wings. As the wind aids him with each movement he makes.
After his flight he finds a perch on a high building balancing on the tip of a telecommunication tower.
"Any changes?" Tak asked.
"All systems green, although I think we may have given Iz a heart attack," MagnaAngemon said.
"I am quite used to Tak's antics at this point," Iz says floating down in Kabuterimon mode. "I don't know why you wanted to do this in the city instead of the lab…"
"Real world application…" Tak says with a shrug.
"Sure, but I concur with MagnaAngemon, it looks like everything is in the green. So, you should be ready to go when the time comes. Although I think we could've done this in the lab."
"The flight training sims are too easy. Sor thinks so too, I mean you, her, and I are the best fliers on the team so they don't really account for our skill level."
"I can't argue with that since each of our mode changes above In-Training Level gives us the ability to fly. I suppose I may have to create a course specifically for us."
"So, then we can see who the best flier is!"
Iz sighs, "If that helps you get better, a little healthy competition couldn't hurt, so I'll be sure to put together some sims for us."
"You're going down Iz!" Tak exclaims. Iz seems to bristle at the challenge. Despite his role on the team, he is still the third youngest, so often Tak can pull out the feelings of being an immature kid out of him. "Kabuterimon has the ability to change direction in the air much quicker than Angemon. I'm afraid you'd be at a disadvantage."
"As TK would say, challenge accepted!" Tak says pumping his fist in the air.
"Let's head back, I'm sure Matty is awaiting the results," Iz says.
"Race ya!" Tak exclaims quickly jumping off.
"You can't proclaim a race and then dash off before I'm ready!" Iz exclaims as he quickly follows after Tak.
The two of them arrive at Digidestined HQ, which is simply Iz's lab seeing as he is a prodigy even by 2099 standards. It was formerly his birth father's lab. He was right that Matty was waiting for them when they returned. Iz muttered that it wasn't a fair race when Tak had took first place when the younger boy had arrived a few moments before Iz. Matty couldn't help but smile at Iz's disgruntled face and seeing Tak in good spirits. Iz did put Matty's worries to rest when he said that Tak was operating at max capacity and that Tak shouldn't have any technical issues if he engages in combat. Matty sighs as he pats Tak on the head. Tak seems confused by the action but smiles up at his older brother for the praise. Their reinforcements should be arriving within a few hours. Matty was worried since Tak wasn't quite used to fighting at the level of ultimate like his teammates, especially by which the means he obtained the level shift by embracing his viral side.
Tak himself wasn't sure how to feel about the fact that his viral side was what helped him evolve. No one wanted to admit it, but everyone was worried about the fact that Chronomon influenced the evolution to happen. Everyone was cautious of him which didn't go unnoticed by Tak. Even if he wasn't as smart as Iz he is observant. The only one that isn't cautious of him is Kar. He didn't know why she was the only one, but he was grateful for it. After arriving at the lab and meeting with Matty to dispel his worries Tak flies off to meet with Kar at their meeting place, it's a holographic billboard that advertises being a human experiment, it was different every cycle. He flew there as in his Angemon mode. He sees Kar sitting on the hovering projector of the billboard.
"Hey Kar!" he exclaims approaching.
She turns to him with a smile, "Since you're here, I guess you got a green on your physical."
"Heh, I guess everyone is a little protective of me right now."
"I know what that feels like, but you can't blame them. It's how they show that they care about us."
"I wonder if it's because we're the only holy types on the team…"
"Angewomon had said our evolution forms are supposed to represent goodness, but that also means we can be the most corruptible. I can understand why they are so worried."
"It feels like Chronomon does want me to hurt everyone…"
"I know, with our power we could do a lot of bad things ya know. With the Dark Masters they didn't like us the most, like we were going to hurt them out all the others. Not like we chose to be the people we are. The way Puppetmon and that weird kid Kenta gunned after you, and the way Machinedramon and Koji were so focused on killing me while I was sick."
"Being a Holy Digimon is a lot of weight ya know. We're basically the enemy of all viral Digimon," Gatomon explains.
"Gatomon is right. The two of you could upset the balance with the Digidestined if something were to happen to either of you." Angemon explains.
"Not to mention the possibility of falling from grace…"
"You mean how we could become demon types right?" Tak asks.
"Yes," Angemon says.
"The others don't feel the pressure of being holy Digimon, so I'm glad I'm not the only one on the team who has the carry this burden, even though it sounds pretty selfish…" Kar says cupping her hand together..
"I don't think its selfish to not want to be alone. I was the only Holy type for a while on the team, and to make it worse the others couldn't trust me because I got infected. It was tough for everyone…like, when I shift into my ultimate mode the infection levels jumped to 30%."
"That's pretty high!" Kar says surprised. "It's normally at 15% in champion mode, right?"
"Yeah, which might mean I have to let it infect me more if I reach mega mode…"
"Well it's not like everyone has reached mega mode and it's been pretty different for everyone. So, who knows what may happen!" Kar says trying to stay positive.
"That's true…so what ya wanna do?" Tak asks.
"Hmm…" Kar says staring up into the sky with the setting sun.
"We could use more flying practice," Gatmon suddenly speaks up.
"Ah, that's well…" Kar blushes a little. "Well that's not untrue…"
"Iz, talked about making some tougher flight simulations since Sor, him and I find it them a little too easy…"
"I just don't get how you guys can be so good at it…" Kar sighs in slight frustration. "The way you loop in the air and swerve and you can all fly so dang fast too! Tye tried to give me some pointers but its not like he's that good at it either. He only started flying when he reached ultimate mode just like me and he avoids it every chance he gets…"
"The three of us have just had the most practice since our partners can access the ability to fly from child level on up. Since your wings are like mine, I think my advice can apply to you better than anyone else. I tried to help Matty but his type of flying is different from mine. More speed less control…"
"Well okay, lets give it a try," Kar stands up for her Digivice to glow with the symbol of the crest of light emblazoned on the screen. The tiger claws shift change into gloves, angel wings burst from her back, a helmet materializes to cover the top of her face, pink florescent lines run through her armor as the animal characteristic of her armor takes a more human design. "Well ready when you are."
Tak stands to his feet as his helmet drops over his eyes as well. He leaps in the air and Kar follows as they take to the skies. Kar grunts as she flaps her wings to keep up with Tak who seemed to be having a smoother flight with far less struggle. Tak turns to see Kar's struggle and falls back a bit.
"You have to use the wind to help push you and you have to open your wings further than that," Tak floats behind her looking at her wings. He places a hand on her back. "Ya feel my hand?"
"Yeah…"
"Then try feeling for the wind, it should feel like a weird tingle like what my hand feels like on your back. But in order to feel it you have to stretch out your wings, try stretching out every part of you as far as you can," Tak circles around Kar smoothly cutting through the sky. She blows a raspberry at him knowing he was just showing off. Tak snickered then demonstrates what he means. "Stretch out as far as you can," Tak says holding out his arms and legs, his wings also stretch out showing just how large the wings are. Not as big as Sor's though. Kar decides to take the advice stretching out every appendage. When she does she feels the tingle on her back again, just like Tak said, but a much stronger sensation.
"I…I think I can feel the wind…" Kar says.
"Your wings are almost fully open just a little more," Tak encourages. Kar follows the instructions to finally feel a strange sensation take over. When she flew, she always felt like a portion of her strength was used to just keep herself afloat. However, in this moment she felt as if she's weightless. The effort was still there but it was much easier than it had ever been before. "Yeah you're getting it!"
"I can already feel the difference."
"Come on," Tak says flapping gaining height. Kar follows after him, finding it much easier than it had been before. "Feels great right!"
"Yeah!" Kar responds as the two dives down toward the city below. She's able to follow Tak's lead for the most part. She's sure he's pulling back so she can keep up with him, but it was really great being able to fly alongside him. Tak teaches her how to glide and how to come to sharp stops. The wind whistling around her at his sudden stop, like a powerful gust to hits her in the face. He says it a helpful technique to stop and take opponents by surprise thus leaving them open to a follow up attack.
"Hey, we'd better head back," Angewomon advises.
"Agreed, the meet up time is approaching," Angemon adds.
"Alright, here we go Kar, make sure your wings are open," Tak says as he sharply turns in another direction. Kar wasn't used to such a sharp change in direction when flying so fast so she almost flails in a panic. However, Tak was nice enough to grab her hand as he pulls her along the sharp turn. He pulls her along his path as they both fly off toward Digi HQ. It was hard for the blush from Tak's face to be ignored but Kar was too busy to see it thankfully. When they arrive they see the entire group is gathered on the roof. Kar happily told Tye about her flying lesson with Tak and how helpful they were. Myme was quick to complain about how she hadn't had any private flying lessons from anyone since she was struggling to get used to it. Almost in stride, Tak was quick to point out that Iz would be great at teaching her since their flying techniques were so similar to each other. Iz sent a slight glare Tak's way before he was too busy blushing when Myme demanded the lessons. He was too flustered in trying to tell her that he would happily help her when he gets the chance.
"Okay, so what the deal?" Tye asks looking at Tak to Iz and back again. "Last I checked the other versions of us are going to meet here. Then we move in to fight Chronomon, but I don't know anything else besides that."
"That's what I know as well," Iz explains turning attention to Tak.
"Y-Yeah, that's it. No secret mission for me either, I'm just going to be fighting like the rest of you guys." Tak stutters out quickly.
Though that explanation was dubious at best, everyone decides to not question Tak any further. Shortly after that decision is made, portals open up around them. The Digidestined from the other worlds began to filter in. It felt like a small army had gathered with all the people and Digimon gathered.
"Should I give a speech?' Tye asks his teammates.
"It may help," Lora suggested overhearing his question.
"I can give a speech too," Caichi says.
"Do we really need a speech at this point?" Takeru questioned with an eye roll. "We know why we're here, and we're all here to get the job done. Beat Chronomon."
"Straight to the point as always, but he's right," Taichi says in affirmation. "We can skip the speeches."
"Good because I had nothing," Caichi says.
"Same," Tye adds with a chuckle.
"Before the four of them start talking more, maybe we should get going," Knoshiro says looking at Hakeru.
"Agreed," Hakeru says quick to cut in. "Tak, can you open that portal for us, also I suggest we all get into our strongest forms going into this madness. Digivolve, or level shift or whatever you may call it."
"Not a bad idea," Tye says looking at his group. "Let's do it gang!"
A bright flash of light follows. With everyone digivolving/level shifting at the same time. A bright light follows with each one. It was like an explosion of light focused in one spot goes off, like a flash bang. The air was filled with such a positive energy that it was hard to ignore as each Digimon reached reaches their pen-ultimate forms in a moment. It was an amazing site to anyone who was observing. Seeing he armor configure for the future Digidestined, seeing partners evolve, and seeing light prevail in a world that could be filled with darkness.
When the evolutions finished everyone looks ready to move. Those that did not evolve with their Digimon, hitched a ride on their respective partners as they ride into this big conflict. Tak does the honors of opening a giant portal to Chrono Space. Although it was hard for Tak and his newly discovered brothers to hide the snickers as they move into the empty space.
At least, what they thought would be an empty space.
When they arrive they see debris scattered all around the area. It was like ruins floating in midair, rubble and pieces of buildings all floating in this space. They weren't just random buildings either, they could see the TV Station, pieces of Tokyo tower from different points of time. Some of it looked rather futuristic and others very rustic. It was surreal seeing it. All photo evidence they had gathered of this place made it resembles a void. Where nothing exists. Seeing the discarded ruins of other worlds, and seeing where the discarded pieces ended up was rather disconcerting.
"Oh, hey guys," a voice speaks out, oddly familiar. Many eyes move to Tak who only shakes his head to answer the nonverbal question of it not being him who spoke. The group all look towards the voice that called out to them to see a boy with blonde hair sitting on a piece of rubble staring at them. He has an all black outifit, with purple ascents along his arm and chest. "Geez, it feels like a reunion or something just looking at you guys. Hahaha, its so hilarious! Also, it's so weird seeing like four different versions of the same person," the boy spoke as he stares down at the group.
"What the hell…" Takeru mutters.
"This place wasn't like this when I came here…" Tak assures.
"We weren't expecting guest, but what the hell I don't mind being the entertainer till the main event gets here. Well he's here already, but you know what I mean!"
"This is bad…" Takerus mutters.
"I mean it's only one construct, a weird one, but a construct all the same," Davis points out.
"Yes, but if this is who I think it is, we may all be in danger…" Takeru explains.
"Who are you?" Hope questions the boy.
He tilts his head, "That's a weird question to ask. It's kinda obvious who I am isn't it?"
"You know exactly what I mean," Hope responds sharply.
"Yeah I do," he says with a laugh. "I'm not Chronomon. He had assumed you lot would try something sooner rather than later. So, what's the plan here? You gonna destroy the Chrono Core? Have someone pull of some type of miracle? It's usually less scientific when it comes to stuff like this."
"What is this thing?" Caichi questions his group.
"Iz, are you're instruments able to shed some light on this," Knoshiro asks.
"Unfortunately, all I can say is he's a construct, but there is something obviously different about him. Something that my scans aren't able to identify," Iz explained.
"Well we don't have time to waste, the four of us will secure the Chrono Core, the rest of you kept that thing busy," Hope instructs. He looks to the other TK's to get a nod in response. All four MagnaAngemon race off into the rubble. Before they could go any further though, they were cut off by a large building thrown at them cutting off their path.
"I want to play with everyone here," the black clothed TK says. "I can't contain how excited I am!" He raises up a Digivice. It was shaped like the Original Digvice, but black. Suddenly the device glows as it sinks into his hand. Suddenly his form is engulfed with dark energy pouring out him. The pressure exerted was enough to make everyone bulk. "Tsukaimon!"
Suddenly a Patamon like creature flies over to him. Instead of the bright orange color that was normal for Patamon. This Tsukaimon was purple with dark green eyes. It glowers at the group before it glows as well. Suddenly its form changes.
"Tsukaimon digivolve too…Daemon!" suddenly a demonic form appears from the shell of the digivolution. The sharp clawed horned monster lets out a grotesque roar.
"By the way, my name if your wondering isn't Takeru. It's Tsukai, nice to re-meet everyone again," the dark TK says as demonic wings made of dark energy protrude from his back. His irises turn red as his body is coated in demonic energy similar to his partner Daemon.
"Evil Flapping!" Daemon exclaims shooting out a blast of hellfire from his mouth at the large group of Digital Heroes. Each group breaks off into their predetermined groups. Daemon chases after them like a wild animal. Tye was the first to rush in his MetalGreymon mode clashing claws with the monster.
"Taichi!" he exclaims.
"On it," the other responds while riding on his MetalGreymon. The chest pops open.
"Giga Storm!" MetalGreymon exclaims shooting out a blast of concentrated energy. Daemon however holds up his other hand casually holding the attack back like it was nothing. He bats the attack away before swinging Tye away to smash his body into a piece of rubble. He unleashes a blast of fire aimed at Taichi's MetalGreymon. The attack was powerful enough to send the ultimate flying back.
"Celestial Arrow!" Kar exclaims shooting out an arrow of holy energy. Daemon dodges it then throws a piece of rubble at her forcing her to take the brunt of it. Jyou's Zudmon moves to crash his hammer down on Daemon, but he bats him away easily as the sparks don't affect either Digimon. Daemon begins powering up before unleashing multiple beams of purple energy from his form. Unleashing a barrage of energy bullets that are aimed at all of his opponents at once. This forces everyone to fly and weave as best they could. Both Garudamon snatch up their respective Zudomon to begin navigating the hellstorm.
"He's trying to scatter us, focus our attacks on him at once!" Yamatto exclaims.
"He's right!" Koshiro adds.
"On three, one, two…" Taichi counts down.
"Giga Storm!"
"Wolf Claw!"
"Flower Cannon!"
"Hammer Spark!"
"Horn Buster!"
"Celestial Arrow!"
"Shadow Wing!"
Every attack converges on Daemon. There is a massive explosion that end the energy hailstorm abruptly. There is a brief pause in combat as everyone waits to see the results of the attack.
"Ah I missed this," a low growly voice spoke. The dust clears as Daemon unfold his wings. "Conflict, battle, struggle, life, death, and the pain. I have been without it for so long…to experience it now. Fills me with euphoria!"
"What the hell is this monster?" Caichi mutters.
"Evil Inferno!" he exclaims. Flames surround his form building up more and more until he resembles a small sun.
"Kar!" Tye exclaims wrapping his arms around his sister as uses his body as a shield to protect her. Both, MetalGreymon do the same to protect their partners' little sister. The explosion of flames decimate the group scattering them to and fro.
"Daemon is having so much fun…" Tsukai says looking wistfully at the carnage. "So, who do I get to slice up first?' He questioned with crazed eyes.
