Mama Yang-13
It was another day of class as Team RWBY plus Athena were sitting through a lecture Summer Rose was giving about Grimm and their behavior. But Team RWBY were all anxiously waiting for class to end, as they had plans that night.
While Weiss was anxiously looking at the clock in front of her, Jaune decided to speak up and have a small conversation with her.
"So Weiss, you know uh, I was thinking that after this, maybe we could go grab a bite to eat? An' uh, you know well I-I've got two tickets to that new Spruce Willis movie if you want to make the trip to Vale. I hear it's awesome. An'… then maybe after we could, study together?" Jaune inquired. "I mean, you're smart and I'm a, you know…" Jaune said, before the alarm rang.
"An as you can see here the Nevermore… Oh, timed that one wrong I guess… We'll pick up on this next time class, and afterwards there will be a test to show if you were actually paying attention to the lesson. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon."
"Weiss, did you hear me?" Jaune asked.
"No, no, no, yes." Weiss said, answering his questions in the order he asked them, as she got up to leave.
"Oh." Jaune groaned slumping his head onto the desk as the rest of Team RWBY walked past him.
"One day." Yang said, doing a quick head rub to comfort him.
Later on, Weiss, Ruby, and Blake were seen in their dorm, with Yang and Athena, all dressed in clothes different from their normal battle attires.
"I thought that class would never end." Blake said.
"Alright guys, today's the day. The investigation, begins." Ruby said, jumping down from her bunk.
"I'm glad to see that we are taking this so seriously." Weiss said.
"Hey, we've got a plan. That's… moderately serious." Yang countered.
"Right." Ruby said. "Everyone remember their roles?"
"You and I will head to the CCT and check the Schnee records for any other Dust robberies, or inconsistencies." Weiss said. "Seeing as I'm in the family, it shouldn't be a problem."
"The White Fang has regular faction meetings to hand out orders and recruit new members." Blake said. "If I can get in, I can hopefully find out what they're planning."
"I have an old friend on the shady side of town that typically knows everything going on in Vale." Yang said crossing her arms. "Getting information out of him shouldn't be too hard now that he and I are back on friendly terms."
"I go wherever mom or mama goes." Athena said sticking up her hand. "I've got some issues with going near the White Fang, so I'll go with mom."
"Plus the faction meetings don't allow for children under the age of sixteen to join in so I wouldn't be able to bring her in if I wanted to." Blake said.
"Great we'll meet up tonight near Yang and Athena to go over what we've found." Ruby said. "Let's do this."
"Yeah."
The five girls looked out the open window, to see Sun hanging by his tail on a tree branch on the tree outside their dorm.
"Sun?" Blake questioned as they all jumped back.
"How did you get up there?" Yang asked.
"Ah, it's easy I do it all the time." Sun said.
"You what?" Weiss asked, covering herself with her arms.
"I climb trees all the time." Sun said, not knowing how Weiss took his miscommunication of words earlier. "So… are we finally getting back at that Torchwhick guy?" Sun asked.
"WE, are going to investigate the situation. As a team." Blake said.
"Sorry Sun, we don't want to get friends involved if we don't have to." Ruby said.
"Pfft, that's dumb." Sun stated letting out a playful huff. "You should always get friends involved. That's why I brought Neptune." Sun said, pointing his thumb out the window.
All five members of Team RWBY poked their heads out of the window looking to the right to see Neptune standing there on the ledge.
"Sup?" Neptune asked.
"How did you even get up here?" Ruby inquired as Athena took a picture with her scroll.
"I'm totally making a meme out of this." She smiled slipping back inside.
"I have my ways." Neptune said, his voice switching to having some panic in it. "Seriously though, can I come in? We're like, really high up right now."
A short while later with Neptune safely inside the dorm, Sun somehow managed to convince the team to let them come.
"All right. I'll go with Weiss. Sun, you can go with Blake." Ruby instructed. "An' Neptune, you can go with Yang and Athena, since they're going to a shady part of Vale. Everyone good?" Ruby said pushing the blue haired boy to the mother/daughter duo. Neptune winked at Weiss as Ruby pushed him past her.
"Actually Ruby, why don't you go with Yang and Athena? After all they are your sister and niece." Weiss exclaimed.
"But Weiss, who would go with you then?" Ruby asked.
"Well, I guess Neptune could come with me."
"She's just wanting to be alone with Neptune for some adult hugging." Athena said.
"Young lady, where did you learn that term?" Yang asked.
"Aunt Nora. She said, that she's anticipating the day when she gets to do some adult hugging with Uncle Ren." Athena exclaimed.
"All right, no one is doing any adult hugging. We're going on the mission to try and put a stop to whatever it is the White Fang are planning, and put a stop to it." Ruby said. "Weiss, you're with me, Neptune is with Yang and Athena. Let's move." Ruby exclaimed grabbing Weiss by the wrist and dragging her out of the dorm, as the Schnee Heiress whined.
~Beacon CCT~
"Wow. I forgot how big the transmit tower looks so close." Ruby said.
"You should see the one in Atlas." Weiss said.
"That was the first one right?" Ruby asked.
"Correct. Atlas developed the Cross-Continental Transmit System, to allow the four kingdoms to communicate with one another." Weiss exclaimed. "It was their gift to the world after the great war."
"Ooo, look at me, my name is Weiss, I know facts, I'm rich." Ruby said in a teasing, mocking tone before trying to supress her giggling.
"Don't be a pest." Weiss exclaimed. "Besides, the only reason we're here is because you like the tower so much. We could have just as easily made a call from the library."
"I know but it's so cool. Oh, I'm gonna take a picture." Ruby said, pulling out her scroll, before dropping it.
"Oh. You dropped this." Penny said, picking it up as it landed at her feet.
"Penny?" Ruby asked.
"Uhh…"
"Where have you been? You've been so scarce since the thing with Athena using your dad's DNA Splicer." Ruby said.
"S-sorry I've got to go." Penny said, handing Ruby back her scroll and rushing off.
"What was that about?" Weiss asked.
"I don't know." Ruby said. "But I'm gonna find out. You go make your call, I'll meet up with you later." Ruby exclaimed rushing after Penny.
"Wait… Ugh…" Weiss groaned.
~Yang, Athena, Neptune~
The sun had set on the down town shady part of Vale, as Yang Xiao Long, was riding her motorcycle through the streets, with Neptune riding behind her, and Saffron running beside the bike, with Athena on her back.
"Remind me again, how can she control Grimm?" Neptune asked.
"Don't know. But she's really good at it." Yang smiled as she turned a corner, before pulling up in front of the night club. "C'mon my friend's right in here." She said, after removing her helmet.
"Saffron, you stay out here by the bike." Athena said hooping down from the Grimm's back.
"An' where exactly is… here?"
"It my friend who I'm back on friendly terms with." Yang said as they approached the bouncer.
"Hold up, no children allowed." He said.
"Relax, I'm not here for pleasure. We're here for business." Yang said, showing him the tattoo on her right breast.
"Oh crap, it's you." The bouncer said, before running in and closing the door. "Hurry close the door."
"You're back on friendly terms huh?" Neptune asked as the door shut in front of them.
"Something's not right. Let's head in." Yang said, pulling her fist back and punching it open, before walking in with a sway of her hips. "Guess whose back."
In an instant, there were over two dozen guns in her face.
"Yeah, so could you define friend for me." Neptune said.
"Stop, stop. Nobody shoot." Junior said, parting the crowd. "Blondie. You're back, what can I do for you?"
"First off, you can explain why I got such a hostile welcome. I thought we were on good terms Junior, what gives?" Yang said.
"I can assure you Yang, that this isn't me turning against you. These knuckle heads most likely just didn't get the memo that you were welcome here again." Junior said. "All right, everyone back to work. For the two knuckle heads who refused her entry, the door's coming out of your salary." He said. "Now what can I do for you?"
"We're needing some information, about a guy named Roman Torchwhick." Yang said.
"Come to the bar, I'll have a drink made for you and your friend." Junior said.
"You got anything not alcoholic?" Yang asked.
"Hi." Athena said, raising her arm.
"You brought your kid with you?"
"Had to. This mission is a team effort, and Athena is part of the team." Yang said. "Plus my mom had a meeting with another professor, and couldn't babysit."
"That's your step-mom right?"
"I see her as more like my mom than my actual mom." Yang stated.
"I got some fruit punch she can have." Junior said. "What information are you needing about Roman Torchwhick? I give you whatever you need on him."
"I was hoping you'd say that." Yang smiled.
~Blake and Sun~
Blake and Sun were following the trail of clues that the White Fang left for the new recruits to follow to the meeting area. To anyone else, the marks would just look like vandalism, but to Blake, she knew what they really were, and what they really meant. Looking around the corner, Blake saw several Faunus going into the building where the White Fang were holding their meeting.
"This is it." Blake said.
"You sure?" Sun asked, before receiving a glare from Blake. "You know, I'm just gonna take your word for it." Sun said, before Blake lead the way. After getting in, they were given White Fang Grimm masks.
"New recruits, keep to the right."
"I don't get it. If you believe what you're doing is right? Then why hide who you are?" Sun asked.
"The masks are a symbol. Humanity wanted to make monsters out of us, so we chose to don the faces of monsters." Blake explained.
"Grimm masks. That's kinda dark." Sun said.
"So was the guy who started it." Blake stated.
"Always sunshine and rainbows with you." Sun sighed.
"Athena thought to do the same thing, that's why she made her mask. But like me, she's trying to prove, her way that even though humanity thinks she's a monster, she's still fighting to protect those who can't protect themselves." Blake explained putting her mask on.
Joining the rest of the Faunus in the group, Blake and Sun made sure they stayed hidden in the ranks of the new recruits.
"Thank you all for coming." A lieutenant said. "For those of you who are joining us, for the first time tonight, allow me to introduce a very special comrade of ours." He said as Roman came onto the stage. "I can assure you, he is key to obtain what we have fought for, for so long."
"Thank you, thank you. Please, hold your applause." Roman said.
"I guess it's a good thing Athena didn't come with us." Blake said with a whisper.
"Why?" Sun asked.
"The instant she'd of seen Torchwhick, she'd have gone straight for him." Blake explained.
"What's a human doing here?" One of the Faunus in front of Blake and Sun, questioned.
"I'm glad you asked, dearie." Roman said.
"He is not sensitive to a Faunus's feelings." Blake hissed.
"Blake, I found another reason why it was good for Athena not to come." Sun said picking a flyer up off the ground.
"Now, I'll be the first to admit, humans are the WORST." Roman said. "Case in point." He exclaimed pointing to himself with a fake salute. "So I understand why you would love to see us all locked away, or better yet: killed. But, before the claws can come out…"
"What did you find Sun?" Blake asked, taking the flyer, finding it was a wanted poster, with Athena's picture on it, stating that by High Leader Khan's decree, she's to be apprehended and brought into the White Fang.
"I would like to mention the fact that you and I ALL have a common enemy. The ones in control, the people pulling the strings, the dirty rotten humans that run our kingdoms. Government. Military. Even the schools, they're all to blame for your lot in life." Roman exclaimed. "An' they're all pests that need to be dealt with. Fortunately, I am the best exterminator around. No offense to any rodents in the room."
With a snap of his fingers, the banner behind him fell, revealing a giant mech suit, causing the audience to cheer out in amazement.
"-Uh, that's a big robot." Sun said.
"How did he get that?" Blake questioned.
"As some of you may have heard, this right here-" Roman said, knocking on the metal. "Is Atlas's newest line of defense against all the scary things in the world. An' thanks to my employer, we've managed to snag a few before they, uh, hit the shelves. Now, many of your brothers have already moved town to our new operation in the south east. If you'd rather stay within the city, that's fine. But if you're truly ready to fight for what you believe in, this is the arsenal I can provide you. Any questions?"
The crowd began cheering, liking the approach Roman was going with for their fight against the humans.
"We should get out of here." Blake said, getting a bit concerned.
"Will all new recruits please come forward?" The White Fang Lieutenant requested.
"Welp…" Sun said as the line of new recruits started to move.
~Junior's Nightclub~
"An' that's all the information I have on Roman Torchwhick." Junior said, putting his glass down.
"An' you're sure that's all the information you have on him. No address?" Yang inquired.
"I haven't talked to him in months. Last I saw him was the night you first came in here. He paid upfront, I lent him my men…"
"To which Aunt Ruby whooped their butts." Athena smiled finishing her fruit punch.
"…An' none of them ever came back." Junior said.
"That would be thanks to my sis. They're all sitting in a jail cell for assisting in an attempted robbery of a Dust Shop. It was their unlucky fortune that it was my sis's favorite shop." Yang sighed. "Thanks for your help Junior."
"Wish I could have done more for you blondie." Junior said.
"C'mon Neptune, Athena. We're heading out." Yang said.
"We got everything we need?" Neptune asked.
"We got everything we can. Hopefully the rest of the team is having better luck." Yang said.
~White Fang Faction Meeting~
The crowd was still cheering on for Roman, as they were eating up his words, and prising his genius.
"What're we gonna do?" Sun questioned.
"I'm thinking." Blake said. 'If I had Athena, Professor Blacksteel's shadow magic, I could easily slip us out of here undetected.' Blake thought.
Sun looked up to the stage, and saw Roman enjoying the praise, before his face turned into a scowl as his gaze landed on them.
"He sees us." Sun said.
Roman threw his cigar away and went marching up to Sun and Blake, to which Sun gave him a wave hello. Looking around, Blake spotted the power box and came up with an idea.
"He can't see in the dark." Blake said, before pulling out Gambol Shroud and shooting the power box.
"Don't let them get away. Urgh." Roman called out before he ran into someone.
"Sun the window." Blake called out.
"Stop 'em." Roman shouted.
On the outside, all was peaceful until Blake and Sun went flying out the window shattering the glass. A second later, the same wall that the window was on, shattered, as Roman came charging through it in the mecha suit.
Blake jumped on a car, and jumped to the roof of a building, while Sun just jumped from the ground. Both of them running for their lives on the rooftops, as Roman still gave chase.
"So you wouldn't happen to have… Oh I don't know… some form of backup?" Sun asked, running alongside her.
"I don't have the fire power to slow that thing down, let alone destroy it. But I know two people who do." Blake said, pulling out her scroll, and dialing up a group call. "Everyone. If you can hear me, we need backup."
"HELP." Sun shouted.
"They got a robot, and it's big, really big." Sun exclaimed. "The Torchwhick guy's in it. But not like, it didn't eat him, he's like, controlling it or something."
"Where are you guys?" Yang's voice echoed from the scroll, and the street they were just about to pass.
"MOMMMY." Sun shouted.
"Yang, we need Athena's firepower. NOW." Blake said.
"Athena." Yang said, turning to look at her daughter.
"Let's go Saffron." Athena said, hopping onto the Grimm's back, and putting her new mask on, before the Grimm began to run.
The chase began taking place on the freeway, where Blake and Sun began jumping from car to car, avoiding Roman and his mecha suit. Jumping from car to car, Sun and Blake managed to avoid each of the mecha's swings, but the results ended up with the cars getting knocked away to.
Coming up, not far behind them however, were Saffron, with her rider, and Yang with Neptune on Bumblebee. Athena glared at the mecha and urges Saffron to go faster. Pushing with all the strength she had, Saffron managed to surpass the mecha and both Sun and Blake, before she skid to a half while twisting around. Unfortunately, Sun had been knocked away with Neptune being thrown off Yang's bike in a failed attempt to slow it down.
"Good girl Saffron." Athena said jumping off her back. "Let's see if I can slow it down."
Taking in a deep breath, Athena slammed one foot down on the ground, causing bits of the road to float up. Connecting to the ground, Athena used her Earth Dragonslayer Magic, to raise the slab of asphalt and concrete into the air, without even touching it, and sent the slab flying towards Torchwhick.
(Cue Music… Courtesy call: Thousand Foot Crutch)
"Oh F-"
The slab hit Roman dead on, and caused him to lose balance, before he fell over the side of the bridge into the area under overpass, where Ruby and Weiss were waiting for him. With Roman down below, Ruby and Weiss were joined by the rest of their team, with Athena flying down on Saffron's back.
"Blake, what's say we give this one to Athena? You know how upset she was when we lost Torchwhick last time." Yang said.
"Think you can handle him Athena?" Blake questioned.
"I got this." Athena said, fists pumped at her side. "I've been working on a new technique I've been dying to try out."
"Then by all means. Let's see it." Yang smiled, stepping back with the rest of her team.
"You sure she can handle this one Blake, Yang?" Ruby asked.
"Oh trust us." Blake smiled. "With her newly unlocked Semblance, Torchwhick's gonna need more than one mecha suit to beat her."
Athena smiled under her mask, punching her fists together, before slamming them into the ground, causing the ground around her to shake and rumble, while rocks started defying gravity.
"Earth Dragon:" Athena chanted as he body began to glow. "TITAN'S WRATH."
All the rocks around Athena began to fly towards her and cling to her body, before they formed into a giant mound of dirt and stone.
"Ha, more like Titan's Crap." Roman laughed, moving to stomp the pile, before he was slammed to the ground form the robotic leg he was standing on, being swept out from under him. "What the?"
The mound of dirt and stone began to move, before it formed into a giant person, with the surface smoothening out, shaping out to form a giant earth titan of Athena, as big as the mecha, with the asphalt in the rubble forming the armor and eyes, on her stone body.
"Let's get ready to rumble." Yang called out as Torchwhick picked himself up.
"How is this connected to her Semblance?" Weiss asked.
"Just watch." Yang smiled.
"I am not gonna lose to a little kid, in some knockoff mecha." Roman shouted.
Titan Athena moved out of the way, before slamming her knee into the oncoming mecha's torso, forcefully bending it over, before raising her arms, and slamming her stone elbows into its back.
"She predicted his movements?" Ruby asked.
"We've named her Semblance, Apex Instinct." Blake explained. "It allows her to be able to fight against an opponent with no risk to herself whatsoever. She can use her instincts to practically turn the tides of battle, before it even begins."
"Problem is, it requires her to clear her mind of all conscious thought before she can use it to its full capabilities." Yang said, as Athena jabbed and crossed her stone fists into the mecha. "That tends to require a bit of focus to activate on her part, which is why when she first cast the Titan's Wrath spell, it only took the form of a pile of rock and dirt you'd see at a construction site." Yang explained as the cracks between the rocks began to light up, making the rock body look like it was made of magma. "Oh now's she adding fire to the fight. This should be interesting to watch."
Athena swung her arms with a straight punch, and then an upper cut, before knocking Torchwhick back with a flying roundhouse kick.
"Not good." Torchwhick said.
Titan Athena came up from behind him, and wrapped her arms around its waist, crushing the metal before she pulled a perfect suplex. Without even stopping and still using the momentum, Titan Athena flipped back onto her feet, still holding onto Torchwhick's mecha, and threw it up in the air, before the titan girl broke down and flew into the air, destroying the mech like a giant firework, leaving Athena standing on the ground.
"Damn." Torchwhick groaned. "Glad I hit the eject button when I did. But now it's time for you to die brat."
"Athena, time to test out the new feature Penny added to your vambraces." Blake shouted.
Athena flipped back, avoiding a hit from Roman's cane/gun, before sending her arm out, launching a small, thin cable from the base of her wrist on her vambrace, and used it to grab a manhole, that she flung towards her and used as a shield against the next attack.
Throwing the manhole up into the air, Athena used both the cables to connect the manhole, and swung it down in a diagonal swing, slamming into Roman, sending him into a column holding up one of the freeway roads.
(End Song…)
Athena's eyes darted to the side, and used the cables to throw the manhole to the side, hitting Neo, while also breaking her illusion.
"Not today." Athena said, panting heavily. "Man that took a lot out of me."
Neo got up from where she landed as Blake and Yang were already restraining Roman, having him ready for the police to take him. Hating herself for thinking about it, Neo left, leaving Roman behind.
"Neo got away again." Athena groaned.
"Hey at least we got Roman. That's something right?" Ruby asked.
"I guess. Still would have been nice if we caught both of them though." Athena sighed falling to her back. "Who knows what she could be planning?"
"Don't sweat it sweetie. You did very good, you caught your first bad guy, how many eight year olds can say that?" Yang smiled.
"That's true." Athena smiled, removing her mask.
"Hey, what happened to Sun and Neptune?" Ruby asked.
"Saffron's gone to grab them from where the landed." Athena exclaimed, before yawning. "I'm tired."
"I bet you are. That spell takes a lot out of you huh?" Blake asked.
"Yeah, it uses up about 90% of what I currently have in my magic reserves." Athena said.
Little to their knowledge, Roman was still completely conscious and could hear every word they said.
'Magic huh? I suppose that could be useful blackmailing information later on down the road.'
