The time passed quickly and, almost before Trevor and Olivia could blink, they were getting dressed along with Noah at the crack of dawn to go on holiday, "We haven't had to wake up this early ever mommy"
"I know" Olivia smiled as she pulled Noah's t-shirt over his head, "but you can sleep in the car on the way to the airport" she promised, earning a nod and a large yawn from her son as she sent him off to clean his teeth.
Check in went surprisingly well, both were expecting some stress from going through security with two young children but Noah and Katie followed Olivia through the metal detector and them through to the lounge.
They didn't have long. A quick browse in the shops and a drink in the cafe was all they had time for and, by the time their row was called to board, Noah and Katie was almost bouncing with excitement.
They settled in their seats, both Trevor and Olivia sat between the children, Noah by the window after negotiations that Katie could have the window seat on the way home, Take off went smoothly.
Both Noah and Katie sat in their seats colouring carefully in the colouring book Olivia had bought for them in the airport, allowing her and Trevor to settle in their seats, they'd been on the plane for almost an hour and Trevor had been surprised at how well behaved Katie and Noah had been, both asking questions about the flight but neither of them making a fuss or being loud.
Olivia didn't realise that she'd fallen asleep until the jolt of the plane touching down on the runway woke her.
"Noah" Trevor said softly once they'd collected all their luggage, "can you walk with mommy and Katie please? So I can get all our luggage?" he asked as he piled the two suitcases on to the luggage trolley, Olivia already having Katie holding her hand.
"Yep" Noah nodded, "I do that all the time when we go to school" he smiled, moving over to Olivia and holding onto her hand.
"Thank you" Trevor ruffled Noah's hair before telling Olivia, "I got us a private transfer, it's in my name" he told her.
"Okay" Olivia nodded, "are you ready?" Trevor nodded and Olivia smiled briefly at him before heading out of the baggage reclaim area to the part of the airport where several people were waiting with name boards. Without anyone having to say a word, Olivia reached into a bag, pulling out Katie's favourite stuffed toy, bending down to pass it to her, knowing the noise and the crowds would be making the shy toddler uncomfortable.
"Mommyy, Trevor" Noah piped up, "that man's got Trevor's last name on a piece of paper."
"He has, well done" Olivia was quick to praise him as Trevor watched on before walking over to the man and introducing himself, thanking him as he insisted on taking the luggage trolley and leading them out to the waiting vehicle. It didn't take long for them to reach the hotel, Noah holding Katie's hand tightly as they stood on the kerb outside the hotel, waiting for Trevor and Olivia. "do you need me to get anything?" Olivia asked once Noah and Katie were settled.
"No, I think I'm good thanks" Trevor smiled, taking a suitcase in each hand, "Noah, do you think you're big enough and strong enough to hold open the door for mommy and I?" he asked as he headed up the ramp towards the hotel reception.
I can try Trevor" Noah grinned, running ahead, his smile growing as he managed to hold the door open easily to allow them inside, both of them along with Katie thanking him as they passed. They checked in with little hassle and Trevor gave Noah and Katie the map of the hotel, letting them guide them along the corridor to their second floor room.
"Wow" Trevor raised his eyebrows as he stepped through the door, they'd told him at check in that they'd upgraded her booking but he didn't expect this, instead of the simple hotel room he'd expected, he was stood in the open plan living area of a small apartment, a full kitchen to his left, a living room and dining area in front of him and another door a few paces away.
"What?" Olivia asked, "We erm, we certainly have been upgraded" he said as he stepped out of the doorway to let Olivia into the room.
"Wow" Olivia gasped as she looked round, "we certainly have" her gaze was drawn to the large patio doors at the opposite end of the room too, "and a sea view."
"Mommy and Trevor, you gotta see this" It was only Noah's and Katie's excited shouts that told Trevor and Olivia that they'd gone explorin they went through the open door and found themselves in a small hallway housing three more doors, one open door revealing the bathroom, the second a bedroom with a large bed in the middle, but they found both their children in the third room, "we gots bunk beds Mommy, can I have the top one, can I please? Katie's only little and she might fall out.
Trevor and Olivia nodded, "You can have the top bunk" they told him.
"Why don't we let the kids play for half an hour so we can unpack and then we can go for a walk, try and get our bearings a little."
"Can we go swimming?" Noah asked from where he sat excitedly on the top bunk.
Trevor looked at Olivia before nodding, "once we've unpacked we'll go for a walk, see if we can find a supermarket for some snacks and things to keep in the room and then we can go swimming" he promised.
