"What is our next step, M'lady?" Jove asked.
"We go to the castle," Mab said. "Now that the Gargoyles are busy, the way should be cleared to get to the child."
Mab waved her hands in the air, opening a portal that would take her to the castle. The three of them, Mab and the two Olympians, entered the portal and out onto the parapets of a castle.
Jove looked behind him, swaying a little on his feet at the height.
Helios stumbled a little, rushing forward to grab onto a raised merlon to help steady his legs. "I'll never get used to that," he said, still feeling the stomach turning after effects of the portal travel..
"What would possess someone to place a castle so high?" Jove gasped out, stumbling back from the edge. "That fall would kill you."
"It matters not to those with wings," Mab pointed out. "Now, while the others are occupied, let us find the child."
"All this," Helios said, gesturing around him. "For a child? What is so special about this kid, anyway?"
"It is a blend of the three races," Mab said, impatiently, "And will carry with it the best of the three. The strength of the gargoyle, the power of the fae, and the adaptation of the humans."
"Adaptation?" Helios asked. "Really?"
"They are like cockroaches," Mab said, leading the way into the building through a pair of doors in the courtyard. "Humanity has this damnable trait that allows them to grow and adapt to their surroundings and survive."
Mab grabbed the handles, one in each hand, and flung the doors wide to make her way inside the castle.
