Pulling a Friend from the Flames

Ash and Lance landed on one of the forested parts of the mountain, miles from Ash's home. At least what was previously a forested part. Around this area there was smoke and flames. "Paul!" Ash yelled, coming across Paul's Ursaring and Drapion, both unconscious on the charred landscape.

"Torr-" a faint voice called. Ash knew it must have been Paul's Torterra.

Ash ran through the smoke and bumped into the Continent Pokemon. "Where's Paul?" Ash said to Torterra.

Torterra fully stood up, revealing a knocked out Paul and Weavile underneath it. Paul opened his eyes. "Ash? Lance?" Paul said. "Get away from here. It's too dangerous."

"Paul, I'm having Noivern air lift you and your Pokemon out of here." Ash replied.

Ash returned all of Paul's Pokemon and strapped Paul onto his bat Pokemon. "Ash," Paul said weakly. "It's Entei, Ash!" Just then, a massive Flamethrower hit the ground where Ash, Noivern and Lance were standing. Noivern flew into the air with Paul, while Lance and Ash jumped out of the way.

A large Pokemon on all four legs stood on top of a ledge. 'We meet again Ash Ketchum,' the Pokemon said.

"Entei," Ash growled. "Long time no see."

"You two know each other," Lance said to Ash.

"Last time I met this guy I was 14," Ash said. "Entei here was stirring up some trouble, trying to erupt the Volcano on Cinnabar to claim the island as his own."

'This time you are not escaping alive.' Entei said, in a low growl.

"Lance," Ash said. "Noivern is going to have a hard time navigating through the smoke and fire. Please lead it out and make sure he and Paul make it safely back to the Plateau."

"I can do that for you," Lance replied. "Just do not get too over your head in this battle." Lance climbed onto his Dragonite, as he and Noivern with an unconscious Paul left the area. This left Ash with only two Pokemon left; his Salamence and his weakened Garchomp.

"Garchomp! Salamence! May the aura guide you!" Ash said, throwing out his two dragons. "Garchomp, use Dragon Pulse! Salamence use Stone Edge!"

Ash's green Salamence slammed its two front feet on the ground, causing many large rocks to shoot up through the ground. Entei jumped and landed on each rock without injury. Garchomp shot off a large Dragon Pulse that Entei was able to dodge easily.

Entei leaped up into the air and landed on Garchomp, biting into its neck and raising it up into the air. Entei then threw the large Pokemon at Ash.

"Garchomp return!" Ash said returning his dragon type Pokemon from mid air. 'Salamence, you're my only hope,' Ash thought. "Salamence use Draco Meteor!"

Ash's Salamence shot a large orange ball into the air that broke off into many smaller balls. Those balls smashed into the ground creating many craters, which crashed around Entei, causing it to disappear from sight. The forest was now a deserted wasteland. Ash looked around and Entei was nowhere in sight. Salamence turned back towards Ash, and showed a toothy grin. "Entei must have run off. I'm glad that's over with." Ash, however, had spoken too soon. Entei came down from the sky and landed on top of Salamence. Ash heard a loud crunch. "Salamence!" Ash screamed. Ash stuck out his arm and returned his green Salamence to its pokeball.

'Any last words Ketchum?' Entei said, towering over him.

Ash held the ring he planned to give to May in his pocket. Marrying her would never happen now. Ash was doomed to die. He stood there silent.

'Alright then,' Entei said. Entei lunged at Ash and slammed into him. Teeth sinking into his chest, Entei picked up the trainer in its mouth, and in one swift motion, it threw Ash off the cliff side.

As Ash fell towards his death he remembered a lot of things that happened throughout his life. It seemed as if time slowed down around him as he remembered these things. He remembered getting his first Pokemon, catching all of his Pokemon, meeting May, meeting Alexis, befriending people from all over the world. Ash was only 21 and he already felt as if his life was going to be cut too short. Ash closed his eyes, waiting for death, falling into the fires below.
