A/N - okay so it didn't take me as long to write this as I thought. It's kind of a filler chapter but anyway. Thanks again for all your reviews, I'm glad you liked the last chapter! Being on holidays is awesome, I already have another chapter almost written! Also, I'm from Australia and only kind of understand how the American school year works timing wise so please forgive me if the time line jumps too much/there are plot holes! I realised I had made a major one in future parts so had to go and rejig all of that so please let me know if I haven't fixed something up! Anyway, enjoy!

Chapter 11

Since finding that her mum was dating her principal, Sofia now knew why her mother had been so happy. She was kind of annoyed at them though. She had known way before them that they would make each other happy. They had both gotten so mad at her and she was right. Part of her wanted to laugh in both of their faces and say I told you so. She took great pleasure in knowing that was right and just enjoyed how happy their house had become.

Walking into school, Sofia was excited to find her best friend. Once Arizona had gotten dressed, Callie and Arizona had sat Sofia down and explained why she wasn't able to run around and tell everyone. She did manage to negotiate being able to tell Naomi. There was no way she was going to be able to keep this from her best friend. Sofia spotted Naomi at her locker and she all but ran up to her.

"I have to tell you something," Sofia almost squealed in excitement.

"Okay, so tell me," Naomi said as she closed her locker.

"I can't tell you here. No one else can know," Sofia whispered, looking around at the crowded hallway.

"What, are you part of the secret service now or something? Are you the FBI agent that hacked my phone," Naomi said sarcastically.

"Ha! You're so funny! But for real, I've been sworn to secrecy. I had to promise to do like a week of extra chores just to be able to tell you!"

"It must be serious then," Naomi replied, raising her eyebrows out of curiosity.

"Just, follow me," Sofia huffed, grabbing her best friend by the arm and pulling her down the hallway to find somewhere quiet and secluded.

It didn't take her long to find an unlocked classroom. She quickly pulled Naomi and checked to make sure no one was in the room. Once she was happy and sure that no one would over them, she walked back to her best friend.

"Callie and Arizona are dating," she squealed out of happiness. It felt good to finally tell someone.

"Right! And my boyfriend is Justin Bieber," Naomi scoffed.

"No seriously! After I got home from yours, I found them in a compromising position on the kitchen counter. Ma said they had been seeing each other for like a month! This is why she had been so weirdly happy!"

"Wait, you're being serious?"

"YES! God, why is it so hard to believe," Sofia asked, frustrated at her best friend's reaction.

"Maybe because you spent so long trying to play matchmaker and it all blew up in your face."

"Or so we thought! You can't tell anyone though. Like, it's a huge secret."

"I promise! Besides, why would I go around telling everyone that our principal is banging your mum?"

"Ew," Sofia laughed as they headed out of the room and to class.

Since the cat was now out of the bag, Callie and Arizona now had no reason to sneak around. This meant that most days Arizona dropped Sofia at home and when she stayed the night, took her to school the next morning. Just because Arizona wanted Sofia to know, didn't mean she wanted everyone at school to know. She had even managed to keep it from her best friend even though she was dying to spill the beans. She knew that once she told Teddy, Teddy would tell her mother and she wasn't ready for all the when is the wedding and grandchildren questions.

"What are you thinking so hard about," Teddy asked as she joined Arizona for lunch.

"Hmm. Oh, nothing important," Arizona replied, smiling at her best friend.

"I know you Arizona and you're lying to me! I'm hurt," Teddy said dramatically, holding her hands over her chest.

"I'm sure you'll get over it," Arizona laughed. "How's Henry's arm?"

"Almost all healed! He has one last check up with Dr Torres in a couple of weeks to get the cast off."

Hearing Callie's name brought a smile to Arizona's face. She tried to hide it from Teddy but her best friend caught the look on her face.

"You haven't said anything since you took Callie out on that date. Did it not go well?"

"I wouldn't say that.."

"Okay well Henry has this hot new PT that works for the team and we're fairly sure she likes girls so dinner this weekend? And you can't say no because I know you have no plans," Teddy told Arizona. She knew that Arizona was withholding information from her and she would get it out of by any means possible. She would use physical force if need be.

"Fine. The date went great! It was amazing and we've been dating ever since," Arizona whispered under her breath.

"You've totally U-Hauled haven't you?"

"No! I mean I stay there most nights now Sofia knows but we're taking it slow."

"Can lesbians even do that," Teddy asked, laughing at her own joke.

"Shut up," Arizona chuckled, "I hate you, you know that right."

"I can't wait to tell Barbara about this," Teddy laughed again. This time her teasing resulted in Arizona punching her in the arm.

"You cannot breathe a word of this to Mum. I will actually kill you. Let me talk to Callie and then I'll tell her. Don't say anything to her Theodora!"

"Oof, full name usage, you're serious," Teddy replied, leaning back in her chair. Arizona only ever called her by her full name when she meant business. "Fine. I won't say anything."

"Thank you," Arizona smiled, going back to her lunch.

Sitting in class, Sofia let her mind drift off to what she would do this summer break. It was only a few weeks away and her dad had called to say he was off at conferences and working a lot for the first half of summer. She wasn't quite sure what her mother had planned as they had spent last summer in Miami with her grandparents while Callie tried to get over her last break up. She wondered if Arizona knew about her mother's last relationship. She figured not as Callie refused to talk about it.

"Miss Sloan!"

A loud voice brought Sofia out of her daydream as she looked up to her teacher who had a very angry look on his face. She then looked over to Naomi who was looking at her with a confused look on her face.

"Miss Sloan, glad you could join us. Dr Robbins would like to talk to you outside."

Looking at the door, Sofia saw Arizona standing there waiting for her. She tried to read her face to see if she was in trouble or if something had happened, but she couldn't quite tell. Slowly she stood up and walked over to the door, her whole class watching her as she left the room.

"Don't worry, everything is fine! Callie called me to tell me that she got pulled into an emergency surgery, so she won't be home tonight. Apparently, it's going to be a long one so I'm going to take you home after school," Arizona informed her, whispering to make sure no one overheard.

"Oh! Well that's cool. So I'll just meet you in your office?"

"Yeah," Arizona nodded, "I have some things I need to finish up so maybe come and find me at like 4:30? I'll make sure I'm finished."

"Cool. I'll see you after school," Sofia confirmed before going back into the classroom. As she walked in, all eyes went straight back onto her. She paused at the door, looking around at everyone before going back to her seat.

Naomi waited until Sofia was sitting down and their teacher had resumed the lesson. Sofia had told her about her mother's relationship with Arizona and Naomi wanted to make sure that no one overheard them.

"Everything okay? They didn't break up already did they," Naomi whispered.

"You really think Robbins would pull me out of class to tell me she's not with my mum anymore," Sofia whispered back, sounding harsher than she meant to.

"I don't know! I didn't think they would actually get together!"

"She just wanted to tell me that Callie won't be home tonight so she's taking me home," Sofia shrugged.

"Are you okay with that?"

"With what," Sofia asked, confused.

"Robbins staying the night but like just with you, no Callie. It feels very mum like."

Sofia didn't answer right away. She hadn't thought of it that way. Since Arizona had been staying over a lot, it just felt natural. She wasn't nervous and she didn't feel weird about it.

"Huh. I hadn't thought of it like that."

Sitting in the dining room, Sofia was finding it hard to focus. This was the first time she had been alone with Arizona at home and not in a school way. She had been meaning to ask Callie the question that was on her mind but now that she was alone with the blonde, she was trying to get up the courage to just ask it. Sofia took a deep breath and just went for it.

"So, what do I like call you now," Sofia asked Arizona as they worked on her math homework at the dining room table.

"What do you mean?"

"Like, we're at home right now so do I still call you Dr Robbins," Sofia clarified.

"Oh. Oh! Well no, that would be weird right?"

Sofia nodded her head. She had kind of avoided calling Robbins by any kind of name when they were at home. She had hoped that the blonde hadn't noticed.

"How about you call me Arizona when we're at home or like with your Ma but when we're at school you still have to call me Dr Robbins," Arizona suggested.

"Yeah that sounds fair, I guess," Sofia shrugged. "So, Arizona, what are your intentions with Ma?"

"I, uh, I mean, it's still early," Arizona responded, stumbling on her words.

"You don't know," Sofia questioned.

"No I mean, I really like Callie. I care about her immensely," Arizona finally answered.

"Good," Sofia smiled, "because it's only us and it's my job to protect her."

"You're a good man in a storm," Arizona mused.

"What?" Now it was Sofia's turn to be confused.

"It's something my dad says. 'Arizona, you need to be a good man in a storm.'"

"What does it mean though?"

"It means you protect the ones you love," Arizona smiled. "We're both good men in a storm. It doesn't just have to be you protecting your mum anymore."

Sofia looked up at Arizona. She could see that the blonde meant every word. The love that she felt for Callie was written all over her face. Sofia watched as blue eyes met hers. Never before has she believed anyone when they said they cared for her mother. Sofia believed every word that was just spoken. She felt relief and she felt safe.

"I can see why Callie is so infatuated with you. You have a good way with words. You need to tell her how you feel though. Her previous partners never told her how they felt. She never knew where she stood with them and it drove her crazy. So, you should tell her."

"It's early to tell her. I want to make sure I'm sure," Arizona answered.

"You don't have to say it. Just like, tell her something. She'll be easier to deal with then."

"What are you the Callie whisperer or something?"

"Something like that," Sofia smirked, "I like having you around. Just trying to help."

The two just smiled at each other before going back to work.

Callie walked into the house and the smell of pancakes assaulted her senses. She hadn't eaten since yesterday and hadn't slept since the day before. She was torn between heading upstairs and going straight to sleep or feeding her growling stomach.

"Sofia, hurry up! You need to eat breakfast and we have to go soon."

Callie heard Arizona's voice yell out to her daughter from the kitchen. She had never come home to this before. She smiled. It felt nice to know that someone was there for Sofia as well as her. Arizona was in her kitchen cooking breakfast and making sure Sofia was getting ready for school. The butterflies erupted as she made her way to the kitchen.

"Hey, you're still here," Callie asked as she entered the kitchen.

"Hey," Arizona said happily, smiling at the brunette, "of course I'm still here!"

"When I asked you to pick up Sofia, I didn't mean you had to stay the night. She would have been fine."

"It's my pleasure. We kind of bonded last night. Besides, I wanted to be here when you got home."

"Come here," Callie said to Arizona, pulling her in for a kiss. "You are amazing."

"Mmm. You're amazing and aren't you exhausted?"

The two were pulled out of their moment by the grunting of Sofia as she sat at the breakfast bench.

"Morning," Arizona greeted her.

"Ugh, what is that noise?"

"What noise," Arizona asked, confused.

"That perky noise," Sofia answered as Arizona passed her a plate of pancakes.

Callie laughed at her daughter as Sofia rubbed her eyes, trying to wake up.

"Yeah, she is definitely your daughter," Arizona chuckled to Callie. "How about you go upstairs and shower and by the time you come out I'll have your breakfast waiting for you to eat in bed so you can sleep straight away."

"You're amazing, thank you," Callie smiled before kissing Arizona again.

"Ugh stop," Sofia groaned with a mouthful of pancake.

Smiling Callie walked around the bench and kissed Sofia on the head. "Have a good day Mija. Love you."

"Love you too," Sofia smiled as her mother left the room.

Arizona walked up the stairs, careful not to spill any of the juice or syrup that was balancing on the tray. She had been listening out for the shower and made sure that she would be in the room by the time Callie was ready to go to bed.

"Sofia, I'm leaving in five. Be ready or you'll have to walk," she called out before heading in the master bedroom.

"Where do I leave my tip? The service here is incredible," Callie joked as she dried her hair. Before sitting next to Arizona on the bed. "And the bell girl is also incredibly hot."

"I wouldn't say that too loud. I'm seeing this crazy beautiful Latina who will break your bones if she finds out you're hitting on me," Arizona joked back before kissing Callie. "I told Teddy about us. I know we weren't telling people, but she was trying to set me up on a date. Which, looking back, may have been a trap to get me to confess. Anyway, now she knows, I need to tell my parents because knowing Teddy she will accidentally saying something to my mum and my mum would be so angry."

"It's okay, Arizona, you can tell your parents about us. I'm not mad. In fact, I kind of love that you want to tell your family about us."

"Ha," Arizona snorted, "I don't want to tell my mum because then she'll constantly call and want to talk to you and ask me when we're getting married and it's way too soon for that. I mean, we're taking this slow and she will just go crazy with this information."

Callie smiled as Arizona rambled on about how her mother would try to pressure them into moving quicker and it made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside. There had been many times Callie had imagined what it would be like to marry her partner. There had been many times when she had been close to marrying her partners. But not once had the thought brought her a feeling of peace deep inside.

"You're cute when you ramble but I'm too tired to give you any kind of advice besides call your mum but tell her we are taking it slow and it's new," Callie said to Arizona, trying to calm her down.

"Okay. I'll call her today. She'll want to talk to you tonight though."

Staring at her phone, Arizona had opened her mother's phone number hours ago. She had been interrupted a few times but mostly she just didn't want to call. Her and Callie were in a pretty pink bubble and once she told her mother that bubble would pop.

"Just call her," a voice called from outside her office.

"Shut up, April,' Arizona called out, her eyes not moving from her phone.

"She's going to be happy for you Arizona. She loves you," April called out.

"Stop talking to Teddy! Ugh fine," Arizona called out, picking up her phone and hitting her mother's number. As she waited for her mother to pick up, she rehearsed what she was going to say in her head. She had hoped she could make this a quick conversation.

"Arizona, darling, how are you," Barbara said when she picked up the phone.

"Hey mum, I'm good, just at work. How are you and dad?"

"Oh sweetie we're good as always. Your father is getting ready to spend the whole summer fishing. He's got out his rods and keeps trying to get me to help him rig them up or whatever he calls it," Barbara giggle. "Is everything okay?"

"You're not going to go and fish with him," Arizona joked, "everything is fine mum."

"You only without me talking to Teddy when something is wrong or you have news, Arizona. What's going on?"

"It's nothing bad," Arizona sighed, "I don't think I'll be able to come out for as long this summer. I'm seeing someone and it's new and I kind of want to see her all the time."

There was a pause on the other end. Arizona knew her mother was still there because she could hear faint whispering between her parents. She couldn't quite hear what they were saying, but it sounded like they were arguing about something.

"Mum?"

"Don't push her Barbie," Arizona heard Daniel whisper to her mother.

"Yes sweetie, I'm here. Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure mum," Arizona sighed.

"Is it Callie? Is Callie this new girl you're seeing?"

"Yeah mum, it's Callie."

"Are you happy," Barbara asked.

"Stop," Daniel warned his wife.

"I'm very happy mum. She's breathtakingly stunning. I can't stop looking at her. She's so funny and caring and she makes me smile, constantly," Arizona gushed, the smile on her face growing as she spoke about Callie.

"We're very happy for you, Ace. You need to call us more often. We wanna talk to this Callie next time," Daniel told her.

"Sounds good dad, I'm sure Callie would love that. I love you guys."

"We love you too. Now go back to work," Barbara said before hanging up.

Arizona put her phone down and just smiled. She loved that her dad always had her back but she also loved how excited her parents got when she had good news. She knew that at any minute, her brother would be sending her messages asking for all kinds of details and getting at her for not telling him.

"Told you so," April yelled from her desk.

"Yeah, yeah," Arizona called back as she got back to work.

"You're like super perky at the moment. Are you getting laid," Alex asked Callie as they scrubbed into surgery.

"Umm, personal," Callie said as she flicked her hands, "what's wrong with being happy?"

"For normal people? Nothing. For you, it means something is up. We're not happy people," Alex smirked as they walked into the OR. "It's weird when you're perky."

"I can be a happy person! I am a happy person," Callie replied becoming defensive.

"It's the blonde isn't it? The principal that Sofia tried to set you up with," Alex asked.

Callie didn't answer his question, choosing to focus on opening up the patient in front of her. At his mention of Arizona, her face lit up. At this moment she was glad she was wearing mask and Alex wouldn't be able to see her dead giveaway they he was right.

"I still tell you're smiling. Your eyes just lit up and went all big," Alex informed her. "So, it is Robbins. That's a good choice, from what Sofia has told me. Does Sofia know?"

"Shut up. And yes, Sofia does know. Pick-ups and suction."

"When do we get to meet her then? You know Yang is going to want to meet her too. We gotta find out about her intentions with you," Alex joked. "Family looks out for family."

"Yang is never going to meet her. I don't want to scare her away too early and Sofia already did that. So you don't have to worry."

"She is a boss, that daughter of yours," Alex said before monitors starting beeping at them. They both stopped their conversation to try and get the patient back.
