It was a beautiful night for Blu and a peaceful one for Jewel. Blu wanted the night to never end because he could be closer to Jewel than before. Before going to sleep he even wanted to kiss Jewel on the head, but he gave up on that idea because he didn't want Jewel to wake up and an unpleasant situation to come out of it. Instead, he covered Jewel with his wing to keep her warmer and fell asleep. Jewel was able to sleep peacefully that night, with Blu feeling calm and not waking up during the night. Since the fire, you could say that he has a trauma when it comes to storms. Every night when there is a storm she was reminded of that fateful day when she lost her family.

Both Blu and Jewel slept until about 10 a.m., about 2 hours after Linda started her work. The woman was initially surprised to see that Jewel was not in her cage, but it made her heart warm when she saw the 2 spix Macaw sleeping together.

"Awww, they are so cute. A perfect couple" Linda thought as she watched them. She couldn't watch them for long as she had to open her library, there were already a few guests standing by the windows. She went to the window, turned the sign from "closed" to "open" and invited the guests inside. Several of them focused their attention on the parrots, which were sleeping inseparably together.

"Wow, but cute parrots! Where did you get another parrot like that Linda?" asked a woman in a scarf and hat. Minnesota is a pretty small town, plus Linda was the only person in the place who ran a library, so everyone practically knew her.

"The ornithologist came to me with her. They're an endangered species, the Macaw spix. They're meant to prolong their species" the woman explained taking a book from the shelf to hand it to another person.

"They must be extremely expensive"

"Price has nothing to do here, they are simply meant to prolong the existence of their species" replied Linda. She handed the book to the man, wrote it on her sheet and then the customer left the library. After another 2 hours of work, Linda went upstairs for a break, at which time Blu woke up, having slept as well as he ever had. He looked over at Jewel, she was still asleep. He was thinking about something until finally those thoughts were interrupted, more specifically they were interrupted by 2 geese who started hitting snowballs on the window.

"Wow, where did you get such a lady?" asked one of the geese.

"You can laugh, you are not able to spoil my humour." replied Blu laughing.

"Really?"

"Mhm"

"Hm... I can't believe such a bird could sleep with you."

"And why?"

"Wait wait, you didn't tell her that"

"What?"

"And did you tell her that you can't fly?" asked the goose, expecting Blu not to confess it.

"Well... Ekhm..." Blu couldn't answer that. He closed his beak and lowered his head down.

"Ha! So that means... You better confess it to her now, the sooner the better because it can only get worse later" replied the goose, after which they both flew away laughing as always derisively at Blu, who still had his head lowered down.

"I can't tell her that, who will she start thinking I am? A loser who can't even fly! Maybe, in fact, people make me such an orphan..."

"Good morning Blu" said Jewel when she woke up.

"Oh, hey Jewel" replied Blu.

"How did you sleep?"

"I can't complain" replied Blu laughing.

"Me too... And I'd actually like to say thank you."

"For what?"

"For letting me sleep with you... When I was there with the humans, no parrot wanted to sleep with me... They thought I was aggressive or something... Thanks to you I had a really good night" Jewel said. Saying this she was becoming a little red in the cheeks.

"Well...to be honest also it's been a long time since I slept as well as I did tonight" replied Blu blushing. They both looked deeply into each other's eyes, they did so until finally Jewel made the first move and slowly but definitely moved her head closer towards Blu. This one was a little surprised by this, but reciprocated the move. During this time they kept looking into each other's eyes until Jewel lowered her gaze down to Blu's bow. However, the romantic moment was interrupted by a goose that threw a snowball at the window.

"Oi!" shouted Blu turning towards the glass. A goose standing on the other side of the window laughed sarcastically towards Blu.

"You better remember what I was talking about!" it yelled, then flew off laughing even louder.

"Ekh" growled Blu as he watched her fly away.

"What are you supposed to remember Blu about? What was she talking about?" asked Jewel seeing Blu getting irritated.

"Nothing important..." replied Blu taking a calming breath.

"Well... Why don't we have breakfast?" suggested Blu.

"Good idea actually" replied Jewel. Blu opened the cage and let Jewel go ahead.

"Ladies ahead" said Blu to which Jewel giggled. They both left the cosy cage then headed upstairs. Blu walked up the stairs while Jewel flew upstairs, wondering why Blu was walking all the time.

"Hey, show me your skill at flying!" exclaimed Jewel.

"Skill?" repeated Blu.

"Well skill, you don't know yourself anymore?"

"Hah... You're really, really quick to learn... Rather skill in flying I don't have much" replied Blu trying to gently dismiss the idea.

"Well, as you prefer" replied Jewel who continued to glide into the kitchen where Linda was, who as always with a mug of hot chocolate in her hand was reading the newspaper.

"Good morning Jewel" Linda greeted her. A moment later Blu came in.

"You haven't taken your vitamins in a while" said Linda seeing her friend.

"Yuck... Vitamins" said Blu. He jumped up on the kitchen counter to grab the products needed for toast. He leaned deeper into the cupboard so he could pull out slices of bread. When he turned around, Linda was already standing behind him, with a spoonful of vitamins.

"Blu don't be picky, vitamins are very healthy" Linda said putting the spoon to him, but Blu wasn't even going to open his beak. Soon Jewel came to the rescue.

"Blu, be a good boy and listen to her" said Jewel. Blu resisted for a moment, but finally opened his beak wide, and swallowed a handful of vitamins. After that Jewel giggled and kissed him on the cheek.

"Good boy," Jewel said.

"Aww..." said Linda.

"Tulio should be coming today, I'll be downstairs asap" the woman communicated, then headed downstairs. Blu, with baked goods on his face, took out the bread, then started making toast.

"What are these vitamins for?" asked Jewel.

"They take care of your body. For your immunity, feathers and such. Would you like to try one?" suggested Blu.

"Why not," replied Jewel. Taking the opportunity that Linda had forgotten to hide the wrappers, he took a spoon in his claws and started pouring it on. He then handed the spoon with the grains to Jewel.

"Try it," said Blu. Jewel slowly poured the contents of the spoon into her beak, then swallowed.

"Oi, it's not that bad! You're picky Blu" said Jewel. Blu stood in a stupor.

"What... You like it?" asked Blu in disbelief. Jewel nodded with a movement of her head.

"Yuck" replied Blu at which the toast was already ready.

"Tasty" said Blu, after which they both started eating their portions. After a few minutes they had eaten their breakfast, so they went to the living room to drift off in pleasure. From downstairs there was the sound of a door knocking, it was Tulio...
