You woke up in the morning not really prepared to say goodbye to Tony, you had dealt with him him in many ways, professional, formal, informal, party Tony and caring Tony. You let the water wash over you and a few tears slipped past your eyes. You put your outfit on and pulled your hair up into a messy ponytail:
Steve and Sam stood in the kitchen and waited for you too come out, you looked over and saw Steve's sad face along side Sam's. "Let's get this over with shall we." You said taking a deep breathe. They both nodded and you walked outside to get in the car, you sat at the back next to Steve, you could see his chest rising and falling, you put your hand on his giving it a squeeze, "you know Tony would be laughing at you for being so sad right?" You said, Steve smiled a little and nodded his head. "I know." He added. "Listen, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry for everything." He said softly, "I know." You smiled back to him.
Steve was invited inside too watch the video Tony had left, he stood alongside Thor. As Tony was talking Steve's mind drifted back to you and Bucky. Him and Thor comforted each other and watched an hologram of there friend who was no longer here.
It was hard for them, they'd had each other for more than 10 years. And even longer for Steve who knew Howard before him, he was glad Tony was finally at some kind of peace.
"You should think about living your life." Echoed through Steve's mind. He couldn't live his life because you were no longer his, you loved Bucky know and he understood why. He'd hurt you several times with Sharon, Sharon Carter. His mind then drifted back to Peggy, his life was and will always be with her.
You stood next in front of Bucky, Sam and Wanda. Bucky had his hand on your shoulder throughout the ceremony and Sam had his hand on Bucky's shoulder. As Tony's 'heart' floated away everyone let there emotions out.
Although Bucky still felt responsible for taking the lives of Tony'S parents he felt sad he'd never be able to really say sorry, you leaned your head back on him. "He knew you were sorry Buck. You didn't do anything, I found who did it." You said too him, he lent his head against yours, "I know. But I still can't help but feel bad." He said, Sam watched the both of you as did Wanda.
Professor Hulk spoke with Steve, Sam and Bucky as you sat on the bench looking out to sea. "All of the Stones need to go back to the same point at which they were taken." Hulk said, "I'll take them." Bucky said, he looked over at you, then back at Steve, "I don't have anything keeping me here." He said, Steve pulled him to the side.
"I know what I need to do. You need to stay here, you need to stay with Y/N. I need to go and live my life. You have yours right in front of you." Steve said to Bucky softly, Bucky looked up at him. "Are you sure?" Bucky said, Steve nodded his head while staring at you, "I should have appreciated her when I had her. You showed her what love was." Steve said. "I love you buddy." Bucky said, "I love you too punk." Steve said giving Bucky a hug. Sam went to talk to Steve.
"You doing okay?" You asked Bucky as he approached you, he looked at you intently for a second and then smiled. "Better than ever." He said, "that's good too hear Buck. It really is." You said wrapping an arm around his waist, he wrapped his arm around your shoulders and pulled you into his side.
Steve went on his journey, he returned the stones too the right moments and lived the rest of his life like Tony told him too. There's only one person he ever told a small fraction of what he did.
"Get him the hell back." Sam shouted at professor Hulk, "I'm trying." He said. Bucky looked across and saw an older man sitting by the river. "Sam." Bucky said diverting his eyes.
