Kara squirmed slightly and then admitted, "Well, I might not have said it clearly … but I did tell her that we'd be connected forever and we'd be feeling each other's emotions and so on."
Alex rolled her eyes and turned to Lena, "So, not that it really matters because it doesn't change the bond between you and Kara, but becoming Kara's Kamati also makes you part of the Danvers family, according to the tradition of Krypton."
Lena gaped and then smiled widely, "Wow, this is truly amazing. Thank you so much. It's a huge honor to be considered part of the most wonderful family I know."
"Lena", Maggie piped up, "you're becoming all emotional. It seems this Kamati thing is already having its effect on you", she winked with a chuckle.
"Sawyer" Lena countered, smiling herself, "you are one to talk, cuddling with Alex and being all nice to me all evening. I'd say you're getting soft."
Maggie blushed and gave another chuckle, raising her glass to toast Lena, "Can't argue with that."
Lena actually laughed out loud at that and in her happiness turned to Eliza and Jeremiah to thank them for allowing her to become part of their family. They, overjoyed that Lena was feeling so much better and was so happy, embraced her tightly and felt her relax into the embrace.
Suddenly Kara shouted, "Best Christmas ever", and then started hovering over them and throwing confetti on the entire group.
Everyone burst out laughing and James started handing out eggnog and when everyone had a glass the family in the small apartment in National City clinked their glasses together, drinking and laughing for many more hours before they all fell asleep in various places around the apartment. Lena could never have imagined such a Christmas and that she could have everything she'd ever dreamed and so much more. But now she did, thanks to Kara and her new family.
