Ch. 11
Mike's room, 1987
Mike turned toward the door, thinking he might have imagined it, when there came another knock, and Nancy's voice filtered through the door. "Mike? I know you're in there. Come out. I heard what happened, and I'm sorry. I want to help, but you have to let me in."
"Go away, Nancy," Mike said, just wanting to wallow in self-pity.
"Ok, have fun being single for life, jackass. Nobody's going to date the ex of a girl who keeps rows upon rows of poison in her room (A/N: El is biochemical genius, so she doesn't need to buy them, plus one, they're all nonlethal in most doses, plus two, her dad is chief of police, so as long as she doesn't use them, she can have them.)," came the reply.
"Wait! Fine, I'll talk with you." Mike slurred, still a bit drunk (by the way, he probably should have gone to the hospital for alcohol poisoning, that's how much he drank. He doesn't ACTUALLY have alcohol poisoning, but he is on the edge between drunk and poisoned, with how much he drank at his young age.).
"Are you drunk, Mike?" Nancy asked.
"No, not at all *hiccups*," Mike replied. "I'm fucking steamed!" he added under his breath, laughing uncontrollably at what he perceived as the height of comedy.
"Whatever, Mike. Let's go to the basement." Nancy replied, thinking Mike was a little tipsy because of a few drinks to take the edge of his breakup. (Oh, how oh so wrong she was about the level of intoxication. He was on the brink of alcohol poisoning.) Mike opened his door, staggered to the stairs, and promptly tripped on the first step, fell down the stairs, and broke his neck, dying instantly.
(Not really) Actually, Nancy grabbed his sorry drunk ass before he could fall. She smelled the booze on him. "*coughs hard* Oh god, Mike! How much did you drink? You REEK of booze!" Nancy exclaimed.
"I don't remember," Mike slurred. "Musta been almost 4 or 5 beers."
"Jesus Mike! You might have alcohol poisoning! If I take you to the doctor everyone will know in 10 mins you got steaming drunk, so who to call? Oh, Hopper! He probably has experience!" Nancy said, frantically, running to the phone before being halted by Mike.
"No! No Hopper!" He slurred frantically.
"Don't worry, Mike! I'm sure he won't kill you. It was El's choice to break up with you in the first place, just like her stubbornness got you to the arguing in the first place." Nancy replied, before walking to the phone and dialing Hopper, who picked up the phone.
"Kid, I'm NOT getting in between you two. Go cry to Joyce." Hopper said.
"Actually, it's not Mike, it's Nancy. Could you stop by? Mike drank a LOT last night and today, and I want to make sure he doesn't have alcohol poisoning. I'm decently sure he doesn't, but I just want to make sure without anyone knowing." Nancy asked.
"Fine. I'll be there in 15." Hopper replied before hanging up.
"He'll be in here in 15 minutes. Let's go to the basement, Mike." Nancy told Mike, helping him down the stairs.
15 mins later, Mike's basement
"Well," Hopper said, "I can definitely say he's not suffering from alcohol poisoning, but a drop might put him over. Keep him sober for at least a week, otherwise he could go over. If you even think he has alcohol poisoning again, take him to the hospital immediately. That shit is deadly. Am I clear?" Hopper asked Nancy, who nodded. "Good. Get him sobered up and dressed in some clean clothes. Joyce doesn't need to see him like this. That has bad idea written all over it, especially since she feels responsible for not stopping the breakup. He's got an individual appointment with her in 4 hours. It was going to be in 2, but he's not going to be CLOSE to sober in the next couple hours by the look of him." Hopper told Nancy. "He will need a ride promptly at 6, because I'm going to be dropping off El right at 6:05, and those two should NOT be NEAR each other right now. Go dump him in a cold bath, and make him hydrate. Gatorade should do it pretty nicely. He should be mostly sober in 4 hours if you do what I just told you. Course, don't let him drive or bike, and walking should only be used when necessary. Also, especially cause he's drunk, don't let him near El. If you can't prevent it, cover his mouth and ears, and drag him away when the opportunity presents itself." Hopper finished, headed out the door, and drove away.

NEW PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT/AN: THE WEED THAT EL SMOKES IS 80'S WEED. THAT HAD WAY LESS THC, SO WHILE IT WAS STILL BAD FOR YOU, IT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS SO. NOW WEED WILL MESS YOU THE HELL UP. DONT DO IT. Also, I can hear you saying, "But if it was still bad for you, and El claims to get extremely high every day, how is she not getting messed up?" The answer is that she smokes in public, never in private. She only does it to provoke Hopper. When she doesn't want to do that, she doesn't get high. She was EXTREMELY exaggerating her drug usage there to make Mike look bad. Also, some characters, (not main ones) will use some harder drugs. Honestly, that will probably only be ecstasy. THAT IS A DEADLY AND EXTREMELY ILLEGAL DRUG. EL ONLY PRODUCES IT BECAUSE SHE IS BEING THREATENED WITH SERIOUS PHYSICAL HARM. THE CHEMICAL PROCESSES THAT PRODUCE THIS DRUG ARE JUST AS OR MORE DANGEROUS AS THE USAGE OF THIS DRUG. IT IS FOR SURE MORE ILLEGAL THAN THE USAGE OF IT. LIKE, DEA BLACK-OPS UNITS WITH MACHINE GUNS KICKING DOWN YOUR DOOR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT ILLEGAL. Simply put, don't use or produce any illegal drugs, and I KNOW you know not to, but just DON'T, okay? Ok, I'll step off my soapbox now. That was mainly for legal reasons. I DO NOT ASSUME ANY LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY CONSEQUENCES ARISING FROM YOUR PRODUCTION OR USE OF ANY ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES.
