Chapter 10: Problems

AN: I'M SORRY THAT I WAS NOT ABLE TO UPDATE BECAUSE I WAS BUSY RECENTLY BUT I PROMISE I WILL FINISH THIS STORY EVENTHOUGH IM NOT GOOD AT WRITING AND IT MIGHT TAKE YEARS ;P AS I WANT TO FINISH THIS STORY AS MY EXPERIENCE AND FOR MY NO. 1 ANIME COUPLE SINCE I WAS 9 I THINK!
A letter was received to the imperial palace of Orb from its Princess a formal letter from Akatsuki and to her father and brother. King Uzumi summoned all the Orb Council to the imperial to discuss Cagalli's suggestion. There was no objection to her proposal but suspicion raise as how the Princess knew about the gem. Luckily , King Uzumi is known for his wide wisdom and political tactics.
"Cagalli, has been sending message back and forth with her cousin who lives near the area where they discussed the situation." King Uzumi replied to the people who was questioning the idea.
"My sister also has some friends who lived in the Central investigated it and saw their situation." Kira added.
"Gems…beautiful gems…of course who wouldn't want that? I firmly agree with my Princess she is smart and beautiful… I will support her with all my heart" Duke Yuna suddenly said as he stands and smile widely thinking about gems.
Still, some of Council opposed the idea but was still convinced at the end.
"It seems that everything is settled. Then we are dismissed" said by King Uzumi and stands and left the room immediately. He was followed by Prince Kira and Lt. Commander La Flaga.
"Hah! Those idiots are just thinking of the gems and never knew what's the better catch!" La Flaga commented as they entered the King's chamber.
"I think Cagalli also don't know about it but still made a great proposal." King Uzumi said as he sat on his sofa.
"I just hope she is fine… Father you did see her letter about the underworld and her Mana right"
"Yes, it's unbelievable she could release her mana without training and without a gem. I'm both proud and worried about her. I'm now thinking it's not a good idea that we gave her a month." Whoever might have the opportunity to hear and see how worried King Uzumi to his daughter will be truly shock as he was known to be stern and cold when it comes to his council and soldier.
The gems Cagalli said on her letter will be coming from the Desert Dawn and she made a contract with Sahib himself. King Uzumi was shock about it and was troubled with the idea but was convinced on how pure Cagalli's intention. It may be the whole reason why Sahib agreed. The gems of the Desert Dawn are not just gems for accessories for jewels. Rather it has power that made people crazy about it before. Few people only the real reason why the Desert Dawn rarely produce for gems.
They easily locate one and they could make a fortune out of it but people will suffer if they become greedy. Their village was actually at the middle of the desert yet it was standing great and never suffered any issue with its land. Other professional made a study before that their village won't stand a century as they could experienced a sand storm, dry quicksand and or a subsidence yet their predictions are all wrong and they loved peacefully. They only suffered from their supply of water and sickness due to the weather. It is unknown why and how it was possible but the elders and council knew why.
Deep within their village lies the heart of the gems a huge white crystal that cannot be seen immediately by normal people. But people with the ability to control mana and the elder of the village can easily locate it. This crystal was called a mana stone, it produces a life force to the gems which can be used to strengthen a certain person or objects life force. This mana stone is the reason why their village is in good shape despite being in the middle of the dessert.
Elders of the Desert dawn before created a base underneath their village with the help of earth mages and inserted mana stone around the base which made it stronger compare to any other area and made them safer. This is also why they confident that they could fight equally with the Zaft soldiers. They've excluded their village from another Kingdom and became individual to preserve what they really have.
"Cagalli only thought of it as jewels but we will make a separate agreement with them and we will request for a Mana stone." The King said in his lowest voice.
"What will we do about it you your majesty? We have trained a lot of mages on that place… " Lt. Commander La Flaga asked.
"We will only be asking for five mana stone and we will supply them a lifetime of water, foods and medicine if necessary"
"Five? But why only five if we will supply them for a life time?" Kira asked.
"One will be placed at the center of Imperial Palace to protect the Kingdom, this one should be big enough to help us wield any underworld creature, second will be attaching it to Cagalli's bow, the others will be for your sword Kira, Mwu and Kisaka. This will help you in fighting and yielding the weapons." The King explained.
"But your majesty! Why us? Why me I will give the Stone to you instead.!" La Flaga objected.
"It's because you still have a lot of time to protect Orb and my children… I am not getting younger every day and the mana stone strengthen life force not extend someone's life. One day Kira will take over and you all will be protecting what we have from the greediness of others." The two men already knew what he meant yet they don't want to accept nor prepared for that day to come.
They sent a letter to Sahib to create a new proposal. They wanted to send a letter to Captain Ramius but the hopeless romantic Lt. Commander volunteered to personally deliver the official to her. The King agreed as Kisaka is as strong as Mwu and could help them incase of emergency. It is much better also since they have limited messengers like Akatsuki that holds the imperials seal. They drafted one proposal following Cagalli's idea and what the Council knew and anther one that was personally written by the king and his true intentions. He made sure the letter of proposal was sent at the daylight so other council could see it. The other letter was attached to Kusanagi, the Kings personal bird. Lt. Commander Mwu La Flaga who was a wind mager provided some mana to Kusanagi for it to fly faster and for other people not see it flying it the air. All was set and was just waiting for the result of their proposal and hoping there will be no problem with their new proposal.
Cagalli and Miri successfully reached their destination in the academy to fully enroll for classes but due to a possible outbreak of war changes was of security in the academy was changed. All students are required to live within the campus and will not be allowed to go outside during the times of classes. The students can go outside the campus every weekend, break or holiday any reason for going outside campus will need approval from the minister of education.
"Urgh! How am I suppose to work and earn money!" Cagalli exclaimed out of frustration.
"Should we head back to Orb my Princess?" Miri teased the flustered bond
"Miri! I only get this chance once I mean seriously once so I will not go back to Orb just because of this I will find other way." Cagalli exclaimed
"I can work but of course it will be for my own expenses." Miri again smirked "Would you like borrow from me it'll just charge ten percent interest and it should be paid within a week."
"What?! What fool will agree to that?"
"Your choice I mean, I will apply here in the academy as a gardener in that way I could guard you and earn money at the same time."
"Urgh! So unfair why do you have the easier task?"
"Easy? My…Oh My… guarding you was the hardest job at the imperial palace Cagalli" Miri said as she shrug off her shoulder. They are talking quite confident as they have rented a sound proof room for a day on a hotel while deciding what to do upon knowing the rules of the academy.
"My scholarship only pays the tuition for my study, my supposed to be allowanced was used for our previous purchased and renting this stupid room…Urgh!" Cagalli almost said shouting while messing her hair out of frustration.
"ahahahahaha…. I never thought that one day I will have the opportunity to see the Orb Royal Princess frustrated for her expenses this is gold!" Miri said as she continues her laughter.
"Are you really my friend? You should be helping me!"
"I will but with interest! You wanted to know how normal people live? Well welcome to the real world!" Miri answered as she is now preparing some biscuits and tea.
"As far as I know real friend will not charge their friend of interest when in need." Cagalli retorted back while accepting the tea Miri brewed for them.
"What? Who said that? This is business I need to earn money too and the interest is based on your social life status!" Miri said as she sips her tea
"My brother told you to do this didn't he? He asked for you to charge me ten percent interest and make it things hard for me, did he?" Cagalli asked and was shocked as she saw a small smile formed on Miri
"Urgh! That stupid Kira! He seriously urgh! He is doing this for me to suffer and go back immediately did he? I'll make sure he'll suffer once I get back!"
Cagalli keep talking and planning how to get back to Kira while Miri was laughing as she was being entertained to what she is witnessing. After a few hours Cagalli contemplated an idea to further earn money but this will be a huge risk for her safety and identity. They both rested for the day and plan on applying for a job early in the morning.
Nobles in the Southern Kingdom may request for a personal maid while studying in the academy. The noble will be paying a huge amount to them but the maids will be serving them anywhere they go on their free time. Classes of the maids will not be affected and will only serve the nobles on their breaks. Cagalli knew few house work and so she decided to apply as a maid for a Noble hoping to earn money for her expenses while at the Southern Kingdom.
The two woke early in the morning for Miri to apply as a gardener and Cagalli to be listed as a candidate of being a maid for the Nobles. Cagalli need to enter a test for etiquette, physical and IQ test to be a maid a receive allowance from noble.
"I never thought I'll be serving a young noble, I just hope the person I will be serving won't be as jerk as Duke Yuna." Cagalli thought while taking the last exam.
"The exams result will be posted after lunch and the nobles you will be serving will also be posted. For now you can go outside and rest." The professor announced after the scholars took all the exam.
Cagalli wondered around the campus as she was amazed how beautiful and peaceful the academy is. As she walks down to the garden, she bumped into a hard thing that made her stumble. "Uh…I'm sorry" she hears someone speak. She looked up at saw that she bumped on a person. A guy with blond hair and beautiful pair of emerald eyes. She stared at his face feeling that she already met the guy that she forgot she's been staring at him for quite a while.
The man chuckled and blushed on how Cagalli reacted. "Is there something on my face my lady?" the guy asked. Cagalli immediately realized that she stared too much which made her blush.
"N-No…There's no problem in you face..its perfect…I mean its handsome…I mean its neat so yeah I-I was just…I felt dizzy yeah that's why y-yeah… So umm…Yeah I need to go sorry again" Cagalli said as she runs fast away from the man who was obviously holding his laughter the way the lady responded.
Cagalli was running fast as she was embarrassed on what she said "perfect? Handsome? WHAT DID I SAY OUT LOUD?" Cagalli who was scolding herself mentally while running.
"KAGARI!" she stopped running as she saw her friend worriedly running towards her.
"Why are you running fast? What happened? Are you okay?" Miri asked question while checking Cagalli if she has any injuries.
"Ah..N-No no problem at all." She responded to ease her friend. "I lost track of time and was rushing towards the result board"
"Well yeah they just posted a while ago you made me seriously worried! I told you stay at the fountain after your exam…." Miri keeps on nagging her like Mana and all Cagalli was thinking was how beautiful and deep those emerald eyes. She can't forget his face as she felt like she met him already. His eyes were beautiful but was cold and empty it shows how lonely and sad he was.
"…take your medicine before you experience problem with your health…KA-GA-RI! Are you listening? Geez this is why sparring is better that guarding you sometimes." Miri said which snapped Cagalli back to reality. She took her medicine for her stamina and rested for a while. They waited for people to settle down near the announcement board for the result of the exam.
"Have you heard the news about ZAFT?" Miri asked Cagalli while sitting at the nearest bench they found.
"No…What happened?"
"Well, after they've conquered the Central and the nearest villages around it somehow there military went back to the Western Kingdom."
"What? So, they won't conquer other kingdom?"
"No…I heard they will just held some celebration party for their soldiers and rumors says that they're just enhancing their weapons and having more supply. They said they are planning to attack the Northern Kingdom next." Miri explained
"Northern Kingdom? Not here?" Cagalli asked
"They said that Queen Leonore did not die due to her illness but was poisoned by an assassin from the Northern Kingdom."
"What? But the Queen was already ill enough why would they make her suffer." Cagalli said and was feeling mad at the thought of poisoning a weak person. She suddenly remembers the Prince of Zaft, Athrun Zala…how he cried and mourned for his mother alone. How tough he wanted to be for his people. Yet many hates him due to the recent attack they made.
"I don't think it was Zaft who killed King Azrael and I don't think Logos poisoned the Queen…." Cagalli suddenly said
"What makes you think so? And who do you have in mind" Miri asked
"It was obvious that someone wants war and wants the two Kingdom to fight. The two Kingdom was large and powerful and its hard to beat in terms of military. They purposely targeted the weakest yet most treasured person of each Kingdom. This is something that was planned by a small organization that would like to have more power and control the four Kingdom." Cagalli intensely stared at Miri's eyes and saw how furious her friend is knowing that people want to start a war. She continued explaining her thought regarding the recent events.
"They want to ruin them first before they could make their moves. It is very easy to distinguish the Northern people, so if they went to the Western Kingdom, with their large build body soldiers could identify them immediately. While in Northern Kingdom, petite body are being discriminated due to lack of masculinity or muscles in their culture so it was easy to identify and catch each suspect for the attack."
"Wow… I am always amazed on how you analyzed things Kagari. So, basically some traitors joined group and planned this?"
"There's a possibility that we are talking about two different group that made the attack. A political group from each kingdom who opposed the current royal or group of people from different Kingdoms that wants to create a whole new one."
"hmmm….Then, there's a possibility that someone is also in Orb and might have an attack within the imperial palace?" Miri said and was worried with the people they loved whom they left at the palace.
"Orb soldiers are wise and strong… you yourself know that, right?" Cagalli smiled and comforted Miri.
"We should stop talking about this… for now ZAFT returned back to their Kingdom and probably woulf take a while for another one. Let's just go to the board and see the result." Cagalli said as she stands up and pulled Miri and walked towards the announcement board.
Unknown to the two despites being a great soldier was a shadow who was listening to them.
"She was very wise…I think we could use her." The blond with emerald eyes said. It was the man Cagalli bumped a while ago.
"She was indeed so what's the plan?" another man appeared who was wearing a pure black outfit with swords on his side.
"Rumors already started still the security is tight, we proceed with the first plan and I'll have her."
"No need to worry about that… she will definitely be by your side while you're here. And I'll take care of her friend."
"Well done… gather our men we will have a meeting tonight" the blond guy said
"Understood. I shall take my leave then." The guy on black suddenly disappear like a gust of wind.
The blond guy's emerald eyes are staring at the blond lady while she walks away from him.
"I will use you…But I'll also make sure to protect you and not abuse you…as long as you cooperate." He said coldly in his mind.
Few people were happy reading the announcement board, it seems that there's a limited slot for people to get in the program. Due to Western Kingdom monopolizing the Central and trades few noble children only applied for having maid.
"Whew…well at least you're not the only one suffering financially." Miri commented
"Shhh.. keep quite and look for my name…" Cagalli said and was busy reading the list of candidates. There's two paper on board they looked to each paper separetly.
"Oh…There it is! Ha… you should at least take it a little easy on this exam you know" Miri said as she pointed on the top of the list. Cagalli perfected all the exams and was ranked number one among the scholars.
"Well… I couldn't take a risk I need money you know." Cagalli said as she read what's written on the board.

Cagalli mumbles as she saw the name and information under her, "hmmm…. A nephew of a businessman a baron in the Southern Kingdom, named… ALEX DINO…"
"I hope we get a long and I hope she doesn't like pink…" Cagalli commented out loud.
"Who?" a voice behind them suddenly asked. And without looking Cagalli answered.
"Alex Dino…I hope she does not favor pink.
"Well, I can certainly say I don't like pink and certainly I'm not a "SHE" rather…" This comment startled Cagalli and Miri and slowly looked behind them. They both looked at the person speaking and was shocked to learn and see the person Cagalli will be serving.
"W-What? You?"
"Kagari…do you know him?"
"She will know me from this day forward" The man smiled and stared at the two ladies.
