INT./EXT. Morgan and Prentiss in their SUV - DAY(Scene 4.2)

Morgan is driving. Prentiss is picking at her nails, looking at the edges around the nail bed that have begun to bleed.

She knows it's a bad habit but she can't help it- the tension with JJ was getting to her. She knew she'd kinda snapped at her on the jet on the back from that case in Arizona, but she wasn't even sure why she'd done that- Of course the team wanted to celebrate- they'd returned four kids back to their parents in one piece!

But lately it just seemed that anything JJ said put her on edge. Especially any talk of Will. What she couldn't figure out was why. She knew she needed to resolve it- it was impacting their work.

Morgan: So what's going on with you two?

Prentiss doesn't respond, too wrapped up in her own mind to even hear her partner try to get her attention. Morgan can tell that she's distracted and nudges her slightly with his elbow, but not so hard it affected his driving. This gets her attention and she looks up, confused.

Prentiss, with an icy tone: What?

Morgan: I asked what's going on you with you two

Prentiss: With who?

Morgan: You. And JJ

Prentiss knows exactly what he is referring to, but refuses to admit it to Morgan, but more importantly refuses to admit it to herself so she plays dumb

Prentiss: Nothing? [she draws it out, trying to make it clear she's confused]

Morgan: Well, whatever it is, figure it out and get focused on the case. We've got 7 victims now, Prentiss. What's on your mind?

Prentiss: Don't profile me, Derek

Morgan: I wouldn't have to if we could profile this case, but you're acting all squirrelly

Prentiss: Squirrelly?

Morgan: Yeah, like you've got all your little secrets and you're hiding them away like a squirrel with acorns

Prentiss chuckles and turns her head to look at the passing people on the sidewalk. They looked so at peace- like nothing was wrong in the world.

Hadn't they been watching the news? Didn't they know that the "French Lick Ripper" is roaming around. Didn't they know Emily and JJ were having a falling out for no reason at all? Didn't they know that serial killers lurked behind every seemingly perfect town? Didn't they care?

Morgan: That cheered you up, huh?

Prentiss nods and goes back to her nails. She continues in this manner for a while as they head back to the PD from the dumpsite, when lightning (metaphoric lightning) strikes

Prentiss: I think the unsub is angry about his childhood

Morgan: There's the profiler I know. What makes you think that?

Prentiss: Ok. he's dumping the bodies in parks. Who goes to parks?

Morgan: Families. Families with kids.

Morgan makes a left turn

Prentiss: So by leaving the bodies, all bloody like that in the open, he's destroying the image of the park. It's almost like he's saying, [pause] My childhood was ruined and now I'm going to ruin, not just the lives of these women I'm murdering, but the lives and memories of everyone [emphasis on "everyone"] in the town.

Just as she finishes talking, Morgan pulls over

Prentiss: Why are you pulling over?

Morgan groans

Morgan: Prentiss, Look in the rearview mirror

Prentiss looks in the rearview mirror and immediately sees the issue. They've been pulled over by a uniform police car.

Prentiss: Oh my g-d- you've got to be kidding me- what did you do?

Morgan: I don't know- You were distracting me with your moodiness

Prentiss looks exasperated as the police officer approaches the vehicle. The police officer tells Morgan that he didn't signal when making that left turn.

Morgan: Are you kidding me right now? Dude, we're FBI.

Officer: Can I see your credentials

Prentiss rolls her eyes, but pulls out her badge and Morgan's too anyway. The officer looks and is satisfied.

Officer: Sorry about that. You guys here with the Ripper case?

Morgan: Yeah, and you're holding us up. I should have the DA charge you with an obstruction of justice!

The officer, who was clearly young and new to the department began to sweat profusely

Officer: Now, now- there's no need- this was just a misunderstanding.

Prentiss just wants to get on with it, so she 'accepts' the misunderstanding and smiles 'sweetly'

Prentiss: I'm sure

Officer: No need to get the superiors involved. You won't mention this to Sawyer right-

Morgan looks like he's about to rip the guys head off, but Prentiss cuts him off, leans over him, with her finger on the window button

Prentiss: Of course not

She rolls up the window before Morgan can protest and tells him to drive off. Morgan looks over at her

Morgan: We're telling Sawyer

Prentiss: Oh most definitely.

`The scene ends as they drive off
