The morning suns golden rays begin to cut through the gap in the room's blinds before resting on closed eyes causing them to twitch and a frustrated groan to escape a certain young man's lips before he rolls to the opposite side and throws the blanket over his head.
"Ah much better." Talon sighs out complacently before a few moments later the loud blaring of his alarm clock causes his eyes to snap open before a frustrated growl escapes him as he slams his hand down on his alarm clock to shut it up before raising himself onto his elbows and cranes his neck up to the ceiling.
"Five more minutes, just five more minutes. Why can I never just have five more minutes rest? What did I do to piss you off huh?"
As Talon finished his rhetorical argument with the ceiling above, he quickly throws himself to the side allowing his feet to make contact with the cold wooden floor of his room before stretching until he hears a satisfying set of pops from his back. Deciding upon his plan for the day he settles on watching the new starters initiation,
"Well might as well go watch the new blood take a stroll through the forest, not like I got anything better to do. Wonder what dad dug out for 'relics' this year?" while finishing his monologue Talon began with his standard morning routine of shower, scrub and shave to ensure no scruffy stubble on his chin. After completing his morning ritual, the young man dressed in his military-inspired clothing formed from a grey long sleeve shirt and a slightly darker grey jacket with golden epaulettes. Underneath this, he wears black trousers and freshly buffed black combat boots and a black and grey belt with various pouches attached wrapping around his waist.
Taking a moment to stare at the last piece of the attire being black sliders with his rank of first Lieutenant engraved in gold in front of the mirror, talon instead opts to place them back on the top of the cupboard instead of the epaulettes on his shoulders and undoes the fastenings of his grey jacket. Staring at himself the male shakes his head and runs his hands through his hair giving it more of the signature casual and spiked look he once had before taking one last look at himself and nodding before leaving his room.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the academy, the ballroom lay silent with all but one student still in the last vestiges of sleep. However, the silence and serenity quickly being broken by the hyperactive ginger-haired girl known as Nora repeatedly proclaiming that it's morning startling most of the students around her awake. Nora's black-haired compatriot Ren simply opened his eyes to see his overexcited friend already in her combat uniform comprising of a black sleeveless vest, with a blue central front section and red accents. Under the vest, she wears a white sleeveless t-shirt with a heart-shaped cut-out in the centre accompanied by a pair of white detached sleeves on each arm. Nora finishes the attire with a short pink skirt and silver Armor piece that wraps around the waist, under her breasts and around the back on her neck with metal connecting each piece at the front.
Seeing her eagerness Ren just goes about his day first changing into his own chosen clothing being dark green, diagonally-buttoned, long-sleeved tailcoat that is red on the inside, with black and gold trimming and pink cuffs. The trimming goes down the right side of his torso and forms a black collar. Along with this, he wears a black, long-sleeved shirt beneath the suit and light-tan pants.
After dressing Ren and Nora prepare for the day ahead first brushing their teeth, cleaning up their bedrolls, eating breakfast and finally putting everything in their lockers and retrieving their weapons for the test. All the while Nora has not seemed to draw breath remarking on how far they have both come together well not 'together together' as she describes but they are still together. Not that Ren is unattractive in Nora's eyes she admits he is handsome but being together would be weird… right? To this Ren continues getting ready as Nora decides they need to be together on a team proposing they bribe the headmaster… no that would be stupid but what if they made a signal like a distress signal or a secret signal to alert each other to one's presence.
With 'the plan' decided while Ren finished getting ready after tying his hair back into a ponytail and storing his pistols. Nora questions her friend on if he can imitate a sloth however, he reminds her that sloths don't make that much noise.
"That's why it's perfect! No one will suspect we're working together!"
"Come on Nora lets go."
"But not 'together together'!"
With that last defensive statement, the two begin the walk towards the Beacon cliffs for the initiation.
Close by Yang and a more chipper Ruby are also storing their bedrolls in their lockers and grabbing their weapons ready for the day ahead with Ruby questioning the unusual pair that just past them.
"Wonder what those two were so worked up about?"
"Oh, who knows… So! You seem awfully chipper this morning compared to last night."
"Yep! No more awkward small talk or 'getting to know you' stuff. Today I get to let my sweetheart do the talking." At her sister's question, Ruby grabs her folded weapon before hugging and caressing it as if a doting mother causing Yang to raise an eyebrow at her sister antics and reminding her that she is not the only one at the initiation and if she wishes to grow up she will need to get used to talking and working together with new people. Yang's words of wisdom fall on deaf ears though as Ruby remarks that Yang is starting to sound like their dad and that Ruby does not need help growing up as she drinks milk.
While the two sisters argue the necessity of meeting new people in a career of fighting monsters and weather the younger of the two needs to break out of her shell or not they are interrupted as Jaune walked between the two seemingly lost as he searched for his locker before passing another pair of females in Weiss Schnee and a red-haired girl with shining green eyes.
"Ridiculous! There's no way I put my gear in locker 636 yesterday!? I would've remembered having to count that high! Ugh, why does this have to happen today!?"
After Jaune passes and continues his search for his elusive locker containing his gear Weiss directs her attention to the red-haired girl beside her in the hopes of forging a partnership with her. The girl in question wore her red hair in a waist-length ponytail, curled slightly into a loose ringlet and also appeared tall and quite muscular compared to most of the other girls at Beacon.
As the redhead donned her armour, she wore a brown overbust corset with an elastic, black, A-line mini skirt and brown opera-length gloves on both arms and a red ankle-length sash that wrapped around her skirt. Beneath all this, the girl wore elaborate bronze greaves that started below her mid-thigh before continuing downwards into her boots as well as a pair of cuisses that began mid-thigh and ended slightly above her knees.
As for accessories, there was a small circular bronze plate on her right hip opposite two pouches with both connected to a belt. Underneath her hair, she always wore a brown circlet adorned with a pair of small, green, teardrop-shaped emeralds on thin chains. She also sported a large bronze gorget around her neck and a bronze bracelet on the upper half of her left arm.
As the redhead equipped the last of her armour being a bronze bracer equipped atop the sleeve on her left arm, Weiss began her plan to forge a partnership,
"So, Pyrrha, have you given any thought to whose team you would like to be on? I'm sure everyone must be eager to unite with such a strong, well-known individual such as yourself."
At the mention of the girls' fame, however, the redhead seemed to wince before admitting she was not quite sure before then mentioning she had just planned on 'letting the chips fall where they may' and to this Weiss offered that perhaps they could become part of a team together but before she could continue with her scheme and tried to convince the girl that they would work well as a team she seemed to freeze and direct her attention slightly to the side of Pyrrha.
Given the sudden drop of discussion, Pyrrha followed the heiress's eyes behind her finding them locked onto a tall muscular individual wearing something akin to an officer's uniform who seemed to be wandering in their direction. Pyrrha questioned the young heiress on this individual's identity but Weiss simply offered that she was not sure exactly but the height, physique not to mention the hair and eye colour and the intimidating aura matched someone she had only known about after overhearing her sister mentioning something about a military prodigy in some secret special forces program back in Atlas.
As the figure grew closer Weiss quickly gave a curt bow before hastily offering her respects as if terrified by the male's mere presence much to Pyrrha's surprise.
"S-Staff sergeant Ozpin i-it's my pleasure to make your acquaintance. If I may be so bold to ask, what brings you to Beacon?"
However, the male appeared to be lost in thought and seemed surprised at Weiss's introduction before simply offering a kind smile and a gentle handshake.
"Oh, ah miss Schnee it's lovely to finally meet you, please the pleasure is all mine. In truth, it is 1st lieutenant now but enough of formalities if you will miss Schnee.
Though I must say I am surprised at you being here, although it being a pleasant one. I had half expected you to join Atlas academy."
At this Weiss seemed to ease slightly before tightening up again and replying.
"Sir, you are far too kind and to answer your question I had thought of Atlas but I had finally decided that Beacon may be a refreshing change of scenery and with it's location, it may offer more versatile training against Grimm as opposed to Atlas."
Upon realising what she had just said the Heiress was quick to try and correct it by adding that not that Atlas was bad it was just different in its own right.
Talon's face twisted in displeasure at the continued use of titles before he eased it into a soft smile.
"Relax Weiss, like I said enough of formalities and besides I agree Beacon is way better. Atlas was far too… stuffy for my own liking everything runs like clockwork. But enough of Atlas, how are you? Winter told me a lot about you while we were off duty."
Upon mentioning her older sister, Weiss seemed taken aback but as she continued with formalities Talon merely raised his eyebrow until she relented and dropped them.
"Staff sergeant, I mean sir… I mean… Talon, you know my sister?"
At this, the boy smiled and nodded slightly before continuing,
"Yep, Winter used to always come and oversee our training. At first, she was all very rank and military talk but she smoothed out over time. We actually talked quite a lot you know about family and what not guess we both kinda come from a big family title. Though she would probably never admit it what with her whole 'personal life's stay personal' attitude she rocks most of the time she talked about you a lot."
Now the younger Schnee was intrigued and carefully listened to every word the boy said both out of respect and also moderate curiosity at what her stoic older sister would describe of her.
"S-she… she does?"
"Oh yeah, wouldn't ever gush in front of the other troops mind you, but one on one she would always go on about how well you were doing or how you had just perfected a new stance and weapon style or even something about how quick you seemed to be growing. In all honesty, she even went so far to ask me to check on you when she heard I was coming back to Beacon, not check on status or rank but she asked me to make sure your eating right, making friends that kinda shindig. I tell ya she's like a proud and doting mother it's actually pretty sweet."
As the male figure before her spoke, Weiss could not help a small genuine smile gracing her lips. While her sister struggled to verbalise her love for her sister it was shown through her actions.
When Talon finished, he quickly noticed the redhead stood beside them and apologised while scratching the back of his head for his lack of an introduction.
"My apologies Miss Nikos, I hope you don't mind if I call you Pyrrha? Never been one for rank or formalities of that kind. My name is Talon Ozpin." And as he finished Talon extended his hand which Pyrrha gladly accepted
As the three stood alongside each other, Talon directed his attention back to Pyrrha before asking something he had long thought about, "So Pyrrha if you were cool with it… would you mind if we… you know… sparred at some point in the future. Just a friendly match no competition or anything just always wanted to test my mettle as it were."
At this Pyrrha simply smiled which sent a warm spell through Talon's chest before replying that it would be great.
Before the group can continue they were interrupted by Jaune who had now found his equipment and leaned on the locker beside Weiss with his back turned to Talon and Pyrrha.
"You know what else is great? Me, Jaune Arc. Nice to meet you."
However at the interruption and 'flirting' Weiss resentfully stated that it was him again before Pyrrha expressed that it was nice to meet him. To this, the blonde simply nudged past her and continued with his 'flirting'
"Yeah, yeah sure. So, Weiss! Couldn't help but overhear your fondness of me the other day."
As Jaune continued Talon gave him a questioned look before realising Jaune was referring to the sarcastic comment Weiss had made yesterday, the sarcastic part obviously going way over his head and causing the male to pinch the bridge of his nose.
"Don't worry, no need to be embarrassed!"
"So been hearin' rumours about teams! I was thinking you and me would make a great one. What do you say?"
Pyrrha quickly jumped in correcting him while also hoping to spark a conversation that teams are comprised of 4 students each so… but Jaune once again cut her off.
"You don't say. Well hot-stuff play your cards right and maybe you could join up with the winning team."
At his seemingly lack of care for the redhead, Talon placed his hand on Jaune's shoulder with a quick squeeze forcing Jaune to realise the 4th member of the group present.
"Oh, Talon, good to see you again when did you get here?"
However, talon does not respond instead giving him a disappointed look which causes Jaune to shudder as Weiss speaks up to clarify who Jaune had just called hot-stuff.
"Jaune, is it? Do you have any idea who you are talking to?"
"Not in the slightest, snow angel."
"This is Pyrrha" to which Pyrrha gave a brief wave as Weiss continued her explanation while Jaune seemed to have no idea what she was talking about much to the heiress's frustrations.
"Pyrrha graduated top of her class at Sanctum"
"Never heard of it"
"She's won the Mistral regional tournament 4 years in a row… A new record"
"The what?"
Before the conversation can continue Talon simply picks the blonde boy up by the hood and questions the boys flirting tactics before he begins to shake him repeatedly.
"Hot-stuff"
"What?"
"Of all the beautiful features the lady has you go with hot-stuff"
"What did I do something wrong?"
"The emerald pools she has for eyes… The gentle radiant smile… The sweet and well-defined face to name a few and you go for hot-stuff!"
At the other male's outrage Jaune defends that it was the first thing he had thought off, too which Talon just gave a frustrated sigh and dropped him back in front of the still livid Weiss.
"She's on the front of every pumpkin Pete's marshmallow flakes box!"
At this Jaune seemed to finally understand giving a shocked gasp, "That's you? They only do that for star athletes and cartoon characters!"
However, Weiss was not done after seeing the blonde boy so casually speak to Talon someone Weiss had been ruthlessly drilled to respect due to his rank and the long list of achievements.
"great since you seem so well versed in terms of cereal mascots what about the figure standing before you, do you happen to know who they are?"
"Oh yeah, his names Talon me and Ruby met him yesterday after we got lost. Think he said something about being related to Ozpin so that's pretty cool."
Before mount Weiss can erupt Pyrrha also questions that Weiss had previously mentioning something to do with military rank and Atlas before asking him if he would be so kind as too elaborate to which Talon agreed to give a nonchalant answer of his military career.
"No problem, first lieutenant of the four kingdom's new specialist defence force, project Horizon. Talon Ozpin of Team Osiris at your service. Though Talon is just fine like I said not really ever been one for rank."
Once he had concluded Pyrrha thanked him and commended him on his achievements and Jaune seemed to somewhat understand who he was talking too or maybe not quite, "Wow so you're like a really important soldier then huh?"
After Weiss firmly introduced her open palm to her face she berated Jaune on his previous interaction and if he really thought he was in a position to so casually ask for either Pyrrha or Talon to be on his team. But Talon quickly picked Jaune up over his shoulder so he could reassure the boy while also stopping the awful flirting.
"Don't worry Jaune, my old man sees something in you and I do too. I'm sure we can make a great team leader out of you yet. Although your gonna have to do some serious work on how we talk to ladies and how to flirt."
As the two leave Pyrrha wishes her goodbyes and good lucks before noticing the distant stare in the eyes of the heiress besides her and asks her if everything is okay too which Weiss releases a frustrated sigh before seeming to talk to herself.
"Why does he have to be just like my sister said, I thought she was being dramatic but it's even worse than the way she described. He started talking and I just turned to putty in his hands."
Before Pyrrha can question the girls seemingly lovesick monologue Weiss quickly shakes the fantasy from her head before berating herself that she needs to keep it together she's a Schnee not a love addled school girl and with that the young heiress storms away with the redhead just shrugging before following towards the cliffs of Beacon where their initiation is to be held.
