-Chapter 8- Stepping forward or back?
It had been 2 weeks since Jade and Austin had went on their date, things had been a bit awkward on the day they revealed how all the teams and individuals were ranked. Jade had finally gotten through to Eada but it didn't help when seeing the top ranked fighter was Austin, when she was on the absolute bottom of the list and to top it off despite the skills of combat Team JADE was on the bottom to obviously not knowing how to work with each other. Jade had been ranked above average with her fighting skills as Daisy just got average, Eada couldn't believe she was ranked the worst fighter but it was obvious that Austin killed her chances by pushing her out the arena boundary twice.
This caused bad blood between Austin and Eada, Austin adamant that it was Eada's behaviour and lack of team work which got her on the bottom as Eada thinks Austin was sabotaging her on purpose. It had gotten that bad Austin slept in the tree he had been sleeping in since the day Jade tried to get Eada as leader for the day. It was a complete and utter fail which helped Eada open her eyes. Now the biggest challenge for Jade was to get Eada and Austin getting along, Jade had knew Austin was Eada's brother and Eada had started opening up to her, all she wished was for her team to get along and if they were open like her and Daisy then things may improve.
With Jade trying to get Austin and Eada to bond she had tasked herself with so much that Jade was spending less time with Daisy, Daisy had talked to Austin but stayed away from Eada, she was missing her friend Jade and each time she asked it's as if she wasn't important. This proved in class as all the team's classes that had them working together failed as Austin and Eada would only trust Daisy and Jade but not each other, Jade had to keep them in check ignoring Daisy more. Daisy offered Jade some help but was refused so Daisy spent her time wandering around the campus and more time with Team TGRN.
Austin and Eada's feud kept going over the next couple of weeks and took up all of Jade's attention as she lacked the time to check to see how Daisy was doing, this made Daisy feel unimportant no matter how much time she spent with Team TGRN that she was slipping into thoughts of why she ever came to Beacon in the first place. It had been a couple of months and the first and best friend couldn't spare two seconds let alone 2 hours for her. She didn't mind hanging out with Team TGRN and they always welcomed her but she didn't want to be a burden.
Jade had also seemed to be spending more time with Austin, not only was Jade focused on him and Eada to get along but to also date and spar together, she had no idea why Jade was ghosting her testing to see if she could get some help from her after class one day she asked Jade if she wanted to go into Vale together and do some shopping and perhaps catch a movie. Jade blew her off so fast as Eada glared at Austin for some reason, as Jade figured Eada may try something again and rushed off to stop any conflict.
Team TGRN saw this as they went to Daisy to ask if she was ok, Daisy said she was fine and she'd go by herself needing to be alone. Team TGRN invited her to knock on their door anytime as Daisy returned her books, changed from her uniform as she left the dorm to Eada studying, walking through the courtyard passing the arena finding Austin and Eada sparring and headed on an airship to Vale. While in Vale she wandered around after getting the supplies she needed but didn't want to go to a movie alone.
She ended up at the docks and figured she could catch a ship to Menagerie where she heard people of all races lived in harmony, a real peaceful life and possibly forget about being a Huntress. She sat there for hours just thinking about it until she looked at the time as she had to rush back to the airship as it would be the last one to Beacon for the day, she arrived to see the airship already had left sitting on a bench thinking her team wouldn't even notice her gone. When the last airship arrived with a few people getting off and the pilot checking to see if everyone disembarked and flew off. Team TGRN were waiting for Daisy but were extremely worried when she didn't come back on the last airship.
Ray led her team as she got Tiger to stay just in case Daisy found another way back, sending Gretchen to the arena just in case Jade and Austin were sparring, Nell to Professor Ozpin to let him know Daisy hadn't returned as she rushed to the dorm room of Team JADE thumping on their door. Eada opened it and asked what was the commotion as Ray informed her that Daisy hadn't returned to Beacon. Eada just shrugged saying Daisy should've paid more attention to the time and if they were that worried call her but she's a huntress in training and should be able to handle a night in Vale.
Ray couldn't believe what Eada had said before shutting the door. Calling her heartless before running off to hopefully meet with Gretchen who should have Austin and Jade, approaching the front of the school Gretchen found her search to be fruitless as they weren't in the arena unaware that Jade and Austin sparred on the roof of the school to. Nell had told Professor Ozpin but he said under the circumstances that there is nothing he can do and even her team hadn't reported she was missing and the same as Eada as he said that she's a Huntress in training and would be able to survive a night in Vale.
Team TGRN met up as Tiger reported that Daisy still hadn't returned or could reach her scroll as Tiger tried each minute to call Daisy wandering where she was, Gretchen then opened her scroll and started to call, instantly able to reach the person she was calling asking that she needed help.
Meanwhile Daisy couldn't answer her scroll as she didn't have time running from a group of thieves that wanted her supplies, purse and possibly do her harm. She was thankful she had her speed, agility and quick thinking but knew she couldn't keep up the chase forever and they were gaining as her stamina would fall faster the longer the chase went on. She turned down an alley finding a wire fence in her way she prepared to jump but just before she made her jump she was tackled to the ground and pinned down.
She was turned on her back trying to get out of the grasp of her assailants and kicking them away from her pockets as she then heard her assailants back off a bit leaving only one pinning her down as the others went to fight off someone which had them flown into walls and knocked out or running off. Then finding the relief of the last assailant pinning her down, torn off her thinking it maybe her team she said "Jade" out loud hoping it was her but instead found quite a large man, he looked at her asking if she was ok.
His voice was calm and seeing the size of him she knew he was her savior but for what purpose, did he want her lien and supplies before he stepped into the light and offered his hand out saying he was Gretchen's brother and how her team was looking for you. What had happened was Gretchen called her brother asking for his help knowing he would always be close by to protect her knowing he didn't want her attending Beacon. She sent him Daisy's picture and he had gone on search.
Daisy thanked him as he helped pick up everything that was hers as he got his own transport and arrived at Beacon shortly after with team TGRN waiting for them both. Daisy thanked Hazel once again as they got out, Gretchen hugged her brother thanking him to as the rest of Team TGRN made sure Daisy was ok. The 5 gave Hazel a wave goodbye before they informed Daisy that they actually waited for her to return and when she didn't return on the last airship it was then that they moved into action.
Daisy then told Team TGRN that you may find Austin and Jade on the roof which was another place for them, Ray saw how sad Daisy got when her team couldn't be found and how Eada couldn't be bothered. The 4 invited Daisy to join them them for the team's movie night and Daisy felt obliged to say yes as she couldn't believe what Team TGRN did for her especially with Gretchen getting her brother to help and wished her team would be like team TGRN.
The 5 went into the dorm where they all shared a laugh, talked and watched some movies before all falling to sleep on the couch they shared with the tv still on. Jade and Austin had returned to their dorm quite late as Austin was having a heart to heart with Jade as she tried to settle things between Eada and Austin. He promised that he would offer Eada an attempt at peace and encouraged her to go to the movies with Daisy as he had noticed she had spent less time with her and he did promise Daisy he wouldn't take all Jade's time.
Jade had missed her best friend thinking she was in the room asleep as her curtain was drawn and said she would offer her the whole weekend in the morning, she was still new to this being leader thing but it was no excuse as she planned for a day Daisy and her could hang out as they went to bed.
Waking up Jade stretched and saw Austin was already out possibly sparring with the 4th year students, ever since he was ranked no.1 in the first years he had asked Professor Ozpin to have him join the sparring classes of other year levels which Ozpin agreed to. Eada was still asleep so she quietly said Daisy's name wandering if she was up yet, she tried again until she said that she was forced to open the curtain, opening the curtain she found her bed neatly made, cold and having no signs of it being slept in.
Jade thought it was weird but then thought that Daisy may be in Vale thinking that she wanted to go do shopping and see a movie but that was yesterday and she couldn't be still in Vale. She took her scroll out and called Daisy which stirred everyone in Team TGRN's dorm but Daisy half awake answered quietly as Jade asked where she was and Daisy just said she's fine and would talk to her later, hanging up and going back to sleep. Happy Jade called her but still tired and upset how she had no idea of the events of last night.
Jade had no idea what to do so she studied and waited for Daisy to call or get back but she couldn't focus. She was now worried, thinking back to the last couple of weeks Jade realized how much of a bad leader and bad friend she had been, not only did she spar with Austin she also saw him constantly for little dates and just being with him and how every time Daisy approached her she blew her off. Jade needed to make this right and priorities her time for all her team members but especially her best friend.
