A/N: So, we have maybe two or three chapters after this one so I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
"Okay, Charizard, use Blast Burn."
Even though I couldn't see him, I was sure that Ash flinched.
"Dodge it then use Dragon Pulse," I shouted.
Squishy jumped to the side and formed a massive ball of multicolored energy and fired a three-headed dragon beam at Charizard.
"Dodge it!"
Charizard spread his wings and lifted into the air.
"Use Seismic Toss," Marin yelled.
"Squishy!"
Squishy reverted to his core form and easily hopped out of the way of Charizard's claws.
Marin flinched and the ref narrowed his eyes, he couldn't call anything against me, I had checked with Ash if Squishy could change forms and he said yes.
"I should have seen you using a strategy like that with Squishy," Marin yelled.
"Yup, it's an old one but it can still fool most. Now, back to 10% and use Extreme Speed."
"Okay, stay in the air and limit his movement with Flamethrower."
I did not think of that.
"Dragon Pulse!"
"Dodge it!"
The three headed dragon beam shot into the air with such force that Charizard lost his balance for about three seconds before sending a Flamethrower at Squishy, who jumped out of the way.
That's it!
"Squishy, rapid-fire Dragon Pulse!" I yelled.
"Charizard, dodge for as long as you can!" Marin cried.
The multi-colored, dragon-shaped beams lit up the sky as the orange Flame Pokemon weaved through them. One of the beams exploded on Charizard's wing. The Flame Pokémon let out a shrill cry of pain as he fell to the ground, landing on his other wing, and I thought I heard a crack.
A cloud of dust rose up around Charizard and I saw Marin's worried expression. It was a heavy blow and a bad fall, I'd be doing the same. After the dust cleared, Charizard forced itself to stand.
"Can you fly?"
Charizard tried to lift its wings, which were severely bent out of shape, then shook his head, causing Marin to frown at her keystone.
Charizard must have been her mega, I realized.
"Blast Burn."
"Dodge then Extreme Speed," I shouted.
Charizard slammed his fist to the ground creating a shockwave that Squishy jumped over before appearing next to Charizard and ramming into his side.
"Charizard is unable to battle."
Marin nodded, returning Charizard.
"Squishy, you come back too."
He trotted back to me and transformed back into his core form and he jumped up onto my shoulder, laying on it to absorb sunlight.
"Lucario, come on out," Marin shouted.
The blue jackal-like, bi-pedal pokemon kneeled as he was released from his Pokeball.
"Okay, Florges, let's do this," I yelled.
"Flo," she cried.
"Okay, let's turn up the heat fast, use Aura Sphere."
"Counter with Moonblast."
The impact of the pale pink orb and the blue orb created a purplish explosion, leaving the audience in awe.
Coordinating skills, I thought, smiling.
"Okay Close Combat."
"Keep him away with Moonblast."
Lucario charged at Florges, easily dodging the Moonblast and delivering a series of quick jabs.
"Flo," Florges groaned.
"Keep the heat up with Ice Punch."
"Well, that's great. Dodge!" I yelled.
Lucario did a front flip and formed an Aura Sphere between his paws.
"Petal Dance," I yelled as Florges began to spin, sending glowing pink petals towards Lucario, causing him to abandon the move and weave through the petals to avoid.
"Good job, Lucario!" Marin yelled, pumping her fist.
"Shoot, we still haven't gotten a hit and I'd rather not use Squishy again," I mumbled to myself.
"Force Palm!"
"Use Moonblast on my signal," I shouted.
Lucario started running forward, his palm beginning to glow blue, Florges glanced back at me as he started moving forward.
"NOW!"
Florges sent the Moonblast right at Lucario's chest just before he made contact. Lucario narrowed his eyes as he stood back up across the field.
Without Marin's command Lucario took off across the field, creating an Ice Punch.
"Dodge then use Petal Blizzard."
Florges released glowing white, heart shaped petals towards Lucario, who didn't do anything to dodge.
"LUCARIO," Marin shouted. The Aura Pokemon brushing it off.
Lucario must not fully listen to her yet, I thought.
"Moonblast," I yelled, catching Lucario off guard.
He went down almost instantly, he took more of a beat than I thought.
"Lucario is unable to battle."
"Lucario return."
I smiled, Chespie was next and Delphox was rested up from her battle with Sandslash, "Florges, take a rest, you've more than earned it."
"Okay, Chespie go."
"Delphox, let's do this."
"It appears we have a battle of Kalos Starters, now Battle Resume."
"Rollout," Marin yelled.
"Use Psychic to dodge."
Delphox's eyes began to glow blue as she lifted herself into the air, above Chespie's Rollout.
"Now, use Shadow Ball!"
"Chespie, block it with Spiky Shield."
Chespie slammed his fists together and formed a round shield from his forearms which created a green force field covered in spikes, rendering Delphox's Shadow Ball ineffective.
"Now Hammer Arm!"
"Dodge it then Mystical Fire."
"Block with Spiky Shield."
As another one of Delphox's attacks was blocked, Chespie began to smirk.
As long as he has Spiky Shield to hide behind, I don't think we can get a hit. I wish I could've taught Delphox a disarming move.
"Earthquake," Marin yelled.
"Use Psychic to lift yourself up!" I shouted.
Delphox's eyes began to glow as she lifted herself above the ground.
"Now use Shadow Ball."
"Rollout into Hammer Arm," Marin shouted.
Chespie curled into a ball and rolled out of the way then started charging towards Delphox with a glowing fist.
"Mystical Fire," I shouted.
Chespie was completely engulfed in flames and cried out in pain. Getting knocked back almost to where Marin was standing with a trail of smoke.
How do ya like that double type disadvantage, I thought, giggling a bit.
"Delphox, stay in the air with Psychic," I said, Delphox nodded.
I forced Marin into a stalemate, she couldn't attack without risking Chespie and could only defend.
I watched her narrow her eyes, she was probably trying to find a weak spot and creating a plan in her head. I braced myself for the command.
She raised her hand and called out with a cheery voice, "I concede!"
That was a shock.
The ref looked at Marin, "Are you sure?"
Marin nodded, "Bonnie backed me into a corner I couldn't crawl out of, she would have won anyway, this is just me protecting my partner."
He nodded, "With the forfeit of Marin, Bonnie and Delphox automatically win the battle and move on to the finals where they'll face Max."
I walked towards Marin and firmly shook her hand.
"Why'd you do that?"
Marin almost laughed, "There's always next year to win, and I heard your agreement with Max, I thought I'd help with that."
"Thank you."
"May I heal your Pokemon?" I heard the cheery Lumiose Nurse Joy say as I walked off the field
"Yes," I said, handing her five Pokeballs.
Her Wigglytuff took them and turned away, "We should have them healed in a matter of minutes," Nurse Joy reassured as she walked out to follow Wigglytuff.
"Am I interrupting?"
I recognized the voice, "Shouldn't you be getting ready?"
Max came into view, "My Pokemon have been healed for a while, they're already trying to force themselves out."
"Thanks for the help, with the Sandslash, I was lost on it."
"No problem, I've never seen an Alolan Sandslash in action, just in articles and books."
"Neither have I."
Someone could tightrope walk on the tension between us.
"Did May tell you?"
I looked up at him, "Ye-yeah, she did," I said.
Max nodded, "I thought she did. Besides, it makes sense, she's been annoyed that I haven't told you so I guess she took matters into her own hands."
"That's exactly what happened."
"Classic May," he muttered, then he turned to me, "I should get going."
I watched him leave and something in me regretted it.
A/N: Almost...done...I'm dying
UnKnownGuy2006 - Tbh, this is me practicing battle scenes lol. And Bonnie promised she'd come back for Squishy when she was old enough to be a trainer so that's why she has him.
