Harumi got back with Killow right before dinner. She quickly leads him up to her room to prevent any further mishaps.
Once they were in Killow's room, she turned around and closed the door.
"What. The. Hell. Did. You. Do?!" Harumi shouts at Killow, who looks angry and annoyed
"Putting Rebecca in her place, that's what!"
"By hurting her?"
Killow is outraged. Why is Harumi defending her?
"It was one punch!" Killow argues
"A punch that broke her nose and landed her in the hospital, I texted her." Harumi's tone goes from angry to cold
"You have her number?" Killow sounds surprised
"Yes. We text, mainly debating political issues, but that's not the point right now, Killow! You punched her because you didn't get your way, and that's not ok. You need to apologize to her as soon as possible." Harumi calms down and takes a deep breath
Harumi then left the room, leaving Killow in a daze. Maybe she has a point. Maybe he shouldn't have punched Rebecca back there.
Killow looks around for something, ANYTHING, that might remind him of the old Harumi, not new Harumi. Old Harumi was kind, funny, and never talked bad about herself. Too bad she only lasted for 2 years. New Harumi is mean, vindictive, and catty. But he can't blame her. She has gone through enough shit, no wonder she acts the way she does. She changed, and she's not coming back. Killow looks at the photo of him and Harumi, which was taken about 3 years ago. She looked so thin, so skinny, and frankly looked sick. How did he not notice that right away? That photo brings back some painful memories...
FROM KILLOWS POINT OF VIEW
Harumi was always a happy girl on some level. When she started the Sons of Garmadon, she was all smiles. She always joked around about getting a rabbit, as I was afraid of them. It was even the original logo, before we changed it. She never talked bad about herself and was always positive. I was her best friend, alongside Ultraviolet.
But after about 2 years, she became more distanced, like she was afraid. Whenever we would want to go somewhere with her, she would find a reason not to if it involved food.
Food. Let's backtrack a little bit. She started talking bad about herself when she was 11 almost 12. She would always say how ugly she was or how she needed to go on a diet. She would say that no one liked her and how she was too fat. I would always tell her she wasn't but she didn't listen. That's where it went wrong.
Harumi would always ask to go to the bathroom after meals with us. And not just any bathroom, the one that had a scale in it. When she came out, she would wipe her mouth and smile.
There were some occasions when she would spend the weekend with us, and she wouldn't eat breakfast or lunch, and when she had to at dinner, she would go to the bathroom afterward. And over the course of 1 year, she got thinner and thinner. However, since she's always been naturally skinny, I didn't think much of it.
I didn't know a whole lot about eating disorders. I knew they were common, the second most common mental illness in the world, but I didn't know Harumi was displaying signs. She went from 95 pounds down to 80 to 60 to 40, and we didn't even bat an eye.
She would avoid activities like swimming and modeling because she didn't like how she looked. She wouldn't wear tank tops and shorts anymore because of fear of being judged. And she would never go out if she didn't have to.
Then one day, it caved. Harumi and I were with Ultraviolet at the mall buying clothes. I was outside while they shopped. Harumi suddenly started blacking out. She continued walking when she collapsed and passed out in Ultraviolet's arms. When Ultraviolet picked her up while I called an ambulance, she was surprised at how light she was. She lifted Harumis sleeve to reveal a bony arm with no muscle. Now forgive Ultraviolet here, but she felt Harumis's stomach, and all she said she felt were ribs.
When the ambulance got there, they took Harumi away and we drove close behind. They took her to a hospital and we followed her into the room. They hooked her up to feeding tubes and machines, which depicted her BMI to be 8.1. She was 4 foot 11.
That was scary, seeing her like that. We weren't sure if she was gonna make it. I prayed to the gods to keep her alive, for her to keep fighting. Eventually, my prayers were answered and she awoke, groggily.
The first question she asked was where she was. When Ultraviolet told her, she saw the tubes and machines and asked us what they were. We told her they were feeding tubes and she needed them right now. She listened and about 10 minutes later, a nurse came in and told us she was severely underweight and needed to be admitted to an ED recovery hospital as soon as possible.
An eating disorder. That's what she had. I later found out some people at her school told her she was ugly and needed to stop eating. She would eat close to nothing all day, then eat a lot in the evening, then erase it. This went on for a year.
After she got out of the regular hospital, she went to an ED recovery one. We told all the sons of garmadon where she was and they all said they were gonna pray for her. A couple made cards, some cooked. And 2 even called her.
She was gone for a good 10 months, but when she came back, she looked so much healthier and better. She said she didn't want to go to it at first, but eventually realized she needed it. She had gained a total of 60 pounds and was now 100 pounds. She also grew and was now 5 foot 1.
She then called a meeting to discuss eating disorders about 4 months later. She revealed she had one and made a rule that if anyone was struggling with one, or knew someone who was, they would come to her and she would help them. She helped a total of 7 people since then.
It was a long journey, but I helped her every step of the way, and she appreciated it.
LEAVING KILLOWS POINT OF VIEW
Killow looked at that photo for a good 2 minutes when he heard someone.
"I liked that one too."
Killoe whipped my head around and see Ultraviolet standing there, arms crossed.
"Ultraviolet, what's up?"
"I never realized how thin she was." Ultraviolet approaches me and stares at the picture.
"It's sad, how we didn't realize." Killow stated sadly.
"At least she's better now. Come on downstairs, we're discussing plans." Ultraviolet said
Killow stated down the steps and sees Harumi with Lloyd and Nya.
"We think we need to go back to Rebecca, by getting one of us on the inside." Harumi informs Killow
Ultraviolet and Killow pause, and think
"We need to get someone on the inside who can disguise easily." Killow states
"If Mistake were here, we would use her." Lloyd said
"Maybe Shade or Skylor." Nya chimed in.
Suddenly, Harumi got an idea.
"Garmadon, can you shapeshift?" Harumi asks
"Yes. Why?"
"I think I know who we get on the inside." Harumi replies with a smirk on her face.
20 minutes later, Garmadon was in the car with Killow, Lloyd, and Harumi.
"Radio us if anything goes wrong." Nya handed him a radio.
"I will."
Then they were off.
10 minutes later, they were at the base and Garmadon got out of the car.
"Good luck." Lloyd called to him
"Thanks."
Garmadon shapeshifted into a general and walked in.
Inside, it was busy with work. Some people were fixing lights, some were cooking. And there was Rebecca, observing it.
Garmadon walked up to her and asked her what he could do. Rebecca told him to help some other workers on the lights.
Garmadon walked over and helped by fixing the bulbs.
"Did you hear about Rebecca? She was in the hospital last night." One worker said
Garmadon listened in.
"Yeah, I did. Killow was violent." Another worker responded.
"Not as violent as Garmadon at Kryptarium prison. He threw his son through walls. Mine won't even come near me now, afraid ill do the same. I mean, "I have no son?" That kids bound to have trauma." Worker 3 chimed in
Those words made Garmadon feel guilty. He had never meant to hurt Lloyd, and he did. It did go too far that night. Now, here he is, hearing his own words of disownment again.
"Oh give it a rest. That kid is stronger than he looks. He's 16." A female replied
"Speaking of Lloyd, what's the plan?" worker 3 chimed in
"Kidnap him and kill him. Then lie and say Garmadon did it. It's bound to work." The female laughed
Garmadon was shocked.
Suddenly, Garmadons disguise wore off and he was revealed.
"Hey!" One worker shouted
Garmadon started running down the hall and reached for his radio.
"Guys I've been discovered. We need to leave!" Garmadons words echoed through Lloyds radio.
Lloyd started the engine and Garmadon ran out, jumping into the car
"What did you discover?" Lloyd asked him
Garmadon tells him what he heard and Harumi's face went white. She told then to leave and they drove off.
